After watching the first episode it just reconfirmed my belief how ####ty we treat so called allies. We left Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese to rot after WWII. Instead of giving them what they needed we kissed the ring of the French and let them continue to rob the country of its resources and treat the Vietnamese like slaves. Shocking how Ho and his boys ended up hating us so much and taking the help of the Chinese and Russians instead. I never believed we had any business there in the first place and knew in my heart we would never win short of going nuclear. When my brother died on hill 881 I knew this was a pointless war. I served two tours there and I'm as hawkish as they come but after seeing first hand how people died taking hills and valleys and just turned around and gave it back over and over again. Over 56 thousand US Troops died and millions of Vietnamese as well for frickin' what? All these years later and my wonderful country that I served for 26 years still makes me so mad it's unbelievable sometimes. There is no sense of loyalty or doing what is right by people in the higher ups and civilian government. It's all crony politics, money, power and lies. Forgive me...I'm rambling but dammit I hated that war and every totally wrong thing we did there. Nothing much pisses me off anymore but this.....this....well still kinda does.4 points

I have seriously begun to question how many of you TGO regulars actually go to the range and shoot your guns, and how many of you just buy them to let them sit at your house. Or worse yet, how many of you just come here to talk about politics because politics and guns see to be inextricably linked to one another. So, let's have some fun related to guns. The next time you are at the range, take a photo of what you're shooting and what your targets look like. It doesn't matter what distance. You don't even have to disclose it. If you want to stand right in front of it and pull the trigger for the tightest group possible, that's fine and you don't have to tell a soul. At least you're out shooting! To start us off: This was a recent outing with one of my old faithfuls. This M&P 40 was produced in 2005 and is one of the earliest production runs of the reborn M&P line from Smith and Wesson. I have owned it since it was new and it has about 10,000 rounds on it now. It has attended six combative pistol classes and has never failed me. Not a single time. Never a failure to feed, fire or eject. I have put a seemingly endless combination of sights on it over the years but it currently wears Ameriglo Hackathorn sights. I haven't even replaced the recoil spring on it yet. No sign that I need to, either. This grouping was shot at about 15 yards and is two magazine's worth (30 rounds) of 40SW.2 points

Yep for sure, you need to spend more time at the range David.....30 rounds and not one in center mass......................2 points

Is the ATF worried about gun brands now? Is the next survey to see what breeds of dogs they shoot the most.2 points

For handguns, being largely a revolver fan, I like the ones that go 'BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG'. Or 'BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG' in the case of five shots. When it comes to standard capacity semi-automatics, I like the ones that go 'BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG + BANG'. Now as for rifles, shotguns and such, I like the ones...aw, nevermind.1 point

Thanks for all the support. I'm going to give this a go alone and maybe a son or two and if I need reinforcements this will be my go to place!1 point

Pretty personal questions. I do not think you will get many serious gun owners answering those questions.1 point

"Then again, crazy people do crazy stuff I guess". Yes they do for sure. I wanted to get life insurance on myself some years back and after investigating most of the Insurance Companies and reading to horror stories of families that the insurance companies screwed over and never paid the claims on I decided to be cremated and I now have my final expenses paid for and all my family has to do is collect my urn of ashes if they want to. I prepaid my arrangements. As far as commiting suicide, that is not for me. I love myself to much and fought all my life to remain alive so ain't gonna hurt my self on purpose now.................1 point

I have had straight talk for years and I'm pretty happy with it. like you, where I live it is either Verizon or ST, I switch because of the bill also. Another plus for ST they just dropped their unlimited talk+ 2GB Data to $35 from $45 online, not sure if they have it on the Wally world cards yet, and they knock off another $5 per month if you have auto refill. So $30 a month for Unlimited Talk and 2GB data is nice if you don't use a lot of data.1 point

Not a "target group" pic, but a pic from the IDPA National Championship a few years back.1 point

One more thing to remember when exposed to chiggers. If you don't take precautions to kill the chiggers that get in the seat covers of your vehicle after riding in it after being exposed to chiggers they will eat you alive the next day. Learned this from first hand experience, not pleasant to deal with.1 point

Not for me as yet. I've said that for years. Still find myself lusting after more pistols.1 point

This is all good information. David, I agree that the best procedure is to reply to the original post. I also agree that leaving the original post intact is more beneficial. What isn't known, can't be known, is how long does it take for a post to reach it's maximum audience. And the fact that you can sell a Glock 19 faster and more frequent than a Savage 280 AI is proof that the buying pool varies in size by item. Of course, it's also true that the audience for any given item grows as the price comes down. You just have to find that sweet spot. I bought that 280AI by the way. Love it!1 point

Some friends of mine had Straight Talk. They don't live as far in the sticks as I do and they recently swapped to Sprint because Straight Talk wasn't working out for them. They have said that Sprint's signal/reliability is much better. I am with Verizon but, because I think their price for unlimited data is too high, I may change to Sprint if it continues to work well for them as Sprint seems to offer a much better deal on unlimited data. Where I live just about the only option for high speed internet is via satellite dish and, again, that is way too expensive so I use my phone as a mobile hot spot. That is why it would be really nice to have unlimited data but all the data in the world does no good if the signal sucks where I live. I wish these places would have 'loaner phones' so a person could try out their service at home and see if the signal is reliable before spending $$$.1 point

First episode had a lot of the background on why we were involved in the conflict to begin with, after WWII. I read the book, The Ten Thousand Day War, a few years ago and what Ken Burns documentary presented was also in that book. Haven't had any bad dreams in a long time. Looks like a well presented documentary. I've never had but one person to specifically thank me for my service there, other than the people at the VA. After I came home and saw the crappy way we were treated, kinda lost my trust in the politicans and the government. Will be watching the rest of the episodes.1 point

Cortisone 10. Get a big tube. I got a bad case once standing at the Base of an AM tower for 10 hours. I did quite a bit of reading. Fingernail polish is a wives tale. They are mite larvae (little worms), and tunnel into your skin with their digestive juices. The itching is actually pain. Killing them does no good. Soap and water does that. It's actually a nasty little wound that can take up to six weeks to heal. Greg said it right. Steroid shot. I just used the OTC Cortizone and got by. ALWAYS take a shower after you leave chigger habtat. They do a lot of their damage after, especially if you just go home and fall in the bed.1 point

I saw the interview with the WA sheriff brilliantly stating, "guns haven't changed, society has," and called out those who glorify violence using guns. It's just a toy...how do I know, especially in an adrenaline charged environment? Aren't all guns always loaded? Point you gun at things you wish to destroy? Know your target, which would be me?1 point

Let me guess - you took all of your guns out for a romantic day on the lake in a rowboat. Just when you were passing under some trees on the edge of the lake a water moccasin dropped out of a tree and into the boat. Your natural reaction was to grab the 12 gauge loaded with 00 buckshot that was sitting cozily by your side and...well, lets just say that 00 buckshot can blast right through a snake and still put a heck of a hole in the bottom of a rowboat. You tried to save them. Tried desperately to pull at least a few of them from the murky depths but, in the end, you woke up on the bank desperately clutching a spent 12 gauge shell and suffering terribly from all the rowboat-wood splinters in your backside. You don't even remember pulling yourself out of that watery grave and even the pain in your backside couldn't match the aching in your heart. Now, even though it is many years later, you still feel such a sense of loss that you can't even so much as look at a gun without breaking down. Even the slightest hint of the smell of gunpowder makes you burst into tears. Or something.1 point
