Fingernail polish. Clear, put it over the bites. It has been a long while since I have been afflicted, but I do recall that remedy.4 points

I've have never cared for any of the AR type rifles. But I do have these. And yes, the Scout Squad is my favorite.3 points

Go to the doctor. I got bad on my ankles opening weekend of bow season last year. After two sleepless nights I went to doc. The otc medications just were not cutting it. She gave me a prescription cream that flat stopped the itching. Also gave me a pill to take at night to help with itching so I could sleep. Best decision I made was going to see the doc. I HATE CHIGGERS!!3 points

If you don't have an example of either, I'd choose an M1A. I've got an AR-patterned .308 and it's accurate and reliable. But it doesn't have the soul that the M1A has. Truthfully, if I had to grab one in a hurry out of my safe, I'd choose the walnut stocked Scout Squad every time. No question.2 points

Was visiting Mom yesterday and went by Dunhams in Tullahoma for some arrows. Noticed a couple pallets of ladder stands and ground blinds marked 50% off. Boxes got wet but I could find no damage. Just a note if you are near Tullahoma and in the market. There 2 person 18' ladder stand was down to $60. The nicer 250 and 350 ground blinds were down around $70 as well. I am now set for stands for awhile. I have enough where I no longer will have to move them!1 point

I always used Caladryl after a hot shower. It seemed to work for a while. Never tried this, but it seems logical to me, is using baking soda. Basically the basic properties of baking soda should help to neutralize the acidic properties of the chigger's digestive juices in the "bite". I found a few natural remedy sites claiming it helps.1 point

run hot water over the bites or soak a washcloth in hot water and cover the bites. This will work with most bug bites and poison ivy. Relief will last for hours.1 point

There's nothing in there to suffocate. Contrary to common belief, the chiggers don't burrow into you, nor do they lay eggs in you either. - OS1 point

So, this afternoon I am headed back to the house from church, and I stop to get gas at a convenience store. I fill the tank at the pumps, and decide to get a drink inside the store. As I'm walking to the store, I pass a guy at another pump filling his car with gas, but he's smoking a cigarette. I think to myself that this seems awfully unwise, but I don't say anything to the guy. Just as I am getting to the door of the store, a couple of cops come out carrying jumbo-sized coffees, and at that moment I hear screaming behind me. I turn around, and the guy who was smoking the cigarette is now jumping around and hollering, with his arm covered in flames. Quick as a flash, the two cops run to the guy, grab him, and push him down to the ground. Both of them dump their jumbo coffees on his arm, they roll him around on the ground, and they extinguish the flames. In a little while the burned guy is calmed down, and the cops get him to his feet. To my surprise, they put handcuffs on him, and escort him to their cruiser parked in front of the convenience store. As they're putting him in the back seat, I ask one of the cops, "Why are you arresting him?" The cop looks at me and says... Wait for it... "He was waving a fire arm." Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week. I stole this one from a friend of mine, so you're welcome to steal it yourself, Cheers, Whisper1 point

1. Shower. 2. Don't scratch. 3. Take 2 Benadryl pills. 4. Super tight clothing on the chigger-bitten area. For lower legs and feet, tall dress socks work well. 5. Benadryl pills in the evening every day thereafter until bites are gone. For me, the itch becomes WAY worse once I scratch the bites. If I recognize that it's chiggers before I really start scratching, then the steps above are enough to control it.1 point

Super tiny and red. Couldn't really see individual ones but like a cloud of multiples... nearly microscopic bug. Didn't see any "attached" afterwards like a tick. Hope they weren't little ticks! Doctor hooked me up with some meds! Steriod and 2 cremes. Feels much better already. Still a little itch but not miserable like before1 point

Well, our location prevents any high speed vehicles from busting in. The glass in the door was tempered, so the glass shatter sensors didn't have a shattering sound to pick up. The cameras did get video, but that only helps after the fact.1 point

That pic is from the inside and you can see the thumb latch on the deadbolt. Locks only provide security up to the strength of the door, glass door frame, etc. Security for a business like a gun shop needs to be layered to slow down the thief. Given time and tools its easy to break in, but if you can make it take time and make it a pain in the a$$ they will look for an easier target.1 point

A very sad situation for Ray who at the time may have felt that was his best alternative to end his pain and suffering. Unfortunately the LEOs he used as his tool have to now carry that. Sad all the way around.1 point

Cortisone 10. Get a big tube. I got a bad case once standing at the Base of an AM tower for 10 hours. I did quite a bit of reading. Fingernail polish is a wives tale. They are mite larvae (little worms), and tunnel into your skin with their digestive juices. The itching is actually pain. Killing them does no good. Soap and water does that. It's actually a nasty little wound that can take up to six weeks to heal. Greg said it right. Steroid shot. I just used the OTC Cortizone and got by. ALWAYS take a shower after you leave chigger habtat. They do a lot of their damage after, especially if you just go home and fall in the bed.1 point

It's been years since I dealt with the Critters From Hell but I found that the spray on Benedryl worked pretty well for me and I kept several bottles of it on hand just in case plus a bottle of the tablets............JMHO1 point

I have scratched them with a wire brush until they bled. Not pleasant, but will stop the itching.1 point

Congratulations on getting a fine rifle. I bought a 1941 Springfield from CMP about 10 years ago and love it! I also bought several cases of the Greek XHP ammo at the same time. Also good stuff. And for those who may have been wondering, yes, it was me who bought my late friend's M1. His wife found out I was interested and made me a price I couldn't turn down. Its a 1955 HRA. So now I have two M1s. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to shooting this one yet. But I hope to cure that next week.1 point

If it's bad enough, a visit to the doctor for a steroid shot will relieve the misery. Otherwise, scratch the tops off the bites you can, and tough the rest out.1 point

I'm a small guy and I couldn't make it through that. I don't see how anyone could make it without getting cut to pieces and leaving DNA all over the place. I suspect they reached up and unlocked the door.1 point

Ok. Would ya'll like to set a tentative date and see what happens? I will have a new baby in the house in three days so September and probably October will be busy but we could set something in November. I'd prefer to do a public venue initially. Saturday nights work for everyone or would we rather shoot for a weeknight?1 point

By your self a Schuster from MidwayUSA and learn to use it. It makes the Garand gas system adjustable for ammo other than M2 ball that as stated above is not on every shelf. Many will not feed much but ball and pointy soft points. When hunting with mine I have one softpoint in the pipe and ball behind it. Hold her back with the bottom of your hand while pushing down on the enbloc until it locks in then tuck your thumb (while holding it open) and rotate your hand up and back.1 point

Dave, i have carried a TR3 in one of several variations off and on for several years, I have never had one go off in my pocket, the push button release is recessed and that was considered in it's design, The springs on both the TR3 and BR1 Magic are both very strong one of the reasons Protech is famous Personally I don't care for safety's on my auto knives and never have, I'm sure you would be happy with either knife1 point

To clarify, this incident did not involve a child, my term "brain child" may have been confusing. The individual was reportedly 47 years old. I use that term tongue in cheek for those that do stupid things. Granted, all the facts are not in, the investigation is of course in it's preliminary stages and rumors will fly. Time will tell the details, in the mean time, I will polish the award in case it is warranted. If not, I'm sure it won't take long for a deserving recipient to rise to the occasion.1 point

I saw the interview with the WA sheriff brilliantly stating, "guns haven't changed, society has," and called out those who glorify violence using guns. It's just a toy...how do I know, especially in an adrenaline charged environment? Aren't all guns always loaded? Point you gun at things you wish to destroy? Know your target, which would be me?1 point

Traded for a Winchester all matching numbers mfg. 1944, just did not appeal to me, sold it for 8 $100 dollar bills about 15 years ago. Never cared for the 30-06 cartridge myself. Traded a pristine Remington shotgun for it. Only had $300 in the shotgun.1 point

Congrats on a nice rifle! I've had mine for a few years ago along with several cans of the CMP ammo to feed it.1 point

That's chiggers. They don't attach like a tick. Think more like a spider. They bite, inject digestive juices and drink it up.0 points

Yeah, my first thought was if you want to leave this world, stick a shotgun barrel into your own mouth and be done with it. Don't involve others. However, in that case there would probably be no life-insurance payout. I wonder if the suicide-by-cop route would allow for any life-insurance payments to the family/beneficiaries. Not that it justifies involving officers, but it might explain this phenomenon.0 points
