  3. If you have ever held a Smith & Wesson M&P and wished it were the size of the 15-round Glock 19 instead, your wishes are coming true. These are being announced officially on Monday 9/11/17 but have already leaked to the Internet.

  10. We've all heard of the fights over bottled water, gasoline and other things. Here's something that brightened my day and re-confirmed my faith in humanity. Like many other Floridians bracing for Hurricane Irma’s arrival, Sanford resident Pam Brekke spent days racing from store to store for supplies. She was hunting for a generator, waiting for empty shelves to be restocked -- and her search was growing desperate. Finding one before Irma makes landfall wasn’t just to make herself more comfortable -- it was a matter of life and death. “My father’s on oxygen, and I’m worried about this storm," Brekke tearfully told WFTV. Brekke drove 30 miles Thursday morning to a Lowe’s in Orlando that got a surprise shipment of 200 generators. She was next in line to purchase one when she saw the final unit given to the customer ahead of her. If there were one more generator, it would have been hers. Brekke broke down, brought to tears by the thought of her father losing oxygen if the power cut out. But then, she was graced with a random act of kindness and humanity amid the chaos: The customer ahead of her, Ramon Santiago, approached and insisted she take his generator -- the last one in stock -- without knowing why she was crying. Brekke and Santiago embraced as a reporter caught the exchange on camera and posted it to Facebook. She thanked him for his kindness during her difficult time. “Everything is okay,” he told her before returning to his shopping. “I’m very overwhelmed by that man,” Brekke said, fighting back more tears. “God will bless that man." http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/09/08/as-hurricane-irma-nears-lowe-s-customer-in-florida-offers-last-generator-to-stranger-in-need.html

  12. I carry a gen3 19 but its had extensive work done to the grip to make it somewhat comfortable. I'm sure the CZ has superior ergonomics. I've been trying to get my hands on one but as with all CZ's they have been difficult to find. As much as I like Glock, my next gun will be something different.

  13. I don't have anything in this size range. It just jumped up to the top of the list for me.

  14. I love my M2.0 and prefer the 17rd capacity of the full-size but this really makes the "Compact" make sense. The previous 9C and 40C were just too damned small for my hands and the advent of the truly compact Shield left them in a weird spot in the S&W lineup. They did the right thing here. And as for the "fish gill" serrations, those are super effective and grippy. I've always preferred them to the serrations on the Glock. All of that being said, I don't see myself rushing to buy one of these. I have several things in this size-range already and don't need another.

  15. I can't believe someone finally did it! Everyone has begged for a G19 sized 15rd pistol with the right grip angle forever. I was just waiting for a Gen5 to show up locally. But this is so much better to me. You can hate on Glock all you want but the Glock 19 is THE perfect size of 9mm pistol. It's the perfect balance of capacity and size/conceability. Add in a more traditional grip angle and metal magazines (HUGE plus to me!) and it's a win. Personally, I really despise the fish gill looking slide serrations, but that is easily fixed by the aftermarket. Hopefully, the existing 2.0 trigger parts from the full size will fit. Also, the new Surefire lights have me very interested as well. Waiting on details for those.

  17. Ken Burns' documentary on that war premiers on PBS Sunday the 17th. His work has always put together a compelling story and I imagine this will be no different. I am looking forward to it and would love to hear the reactions of those who lived through that era in both a military and cultural sense as I'm sure the series will cover all the bases.

  23. Yea, one will come up with stupid things to think about when one is bored. Mine? Ok, probably not possble...but: If a constant stream of aircraft flew through the storm, counter to it's rotation, would it slow the rotation? Since cold water adds fuel to a storm, would dragging icebergs into the gulf drop the temp enough to affect a storm. Ok, where are my guns and ammo? I need to get out more.

  28. This is only a problem for people that don't take responsibility for their own actions. It's simply too easy to say "but it shouldn't EVER go off EVEN when misused". "Its the manufacturers fault!" This is a cop out. Do your very best not to drop your gun, and if you do then own the consequences... Do I expect that a higher priced gun should be more resistant to firing when dropped? Yes, but when you go out of your way to try and find a way that a machine can be made to fail you will find it. If you drop it at a precise angle, from high enough, then inertia will have its effects. Don't mistreat your weapon, if you do expect it to mistreat you back... ANY mechanical safety can fail, accept that. Speaking of higher priced guns how many custom 1911's or Kimber's have NO firing pin block in them? How many have become an internet sensation? While we're at it how many Glocks or others get shot unintentionally when disassembling the gun? When it happens whose fault is it? I've always thought that having to pull the trigger to disassemble the gun was a silly idea. I'll admit that it hasn't kept me from owning them though. I accept the responsibility of unloading the weapon before disassembly. BTW I used to own a S&W 27 with Jordan grips that had a SS plate on the bottom. Purportedly Jordan wanted that plate for tacking up Wanted Posters. I wish I had never sold it...

  31. This size pistol has always had a strong following. Think of the Commander, and S&W 39 variants. This grip length makes for a very controllable weapon. Smaller grips are easier to conceal. Its an age old discussion capacity, size, control, concealment. That said, this fills a noticeable gap in the M&P lineup. If I was looking for a gun this size I'd have to consider it.

Not going to chance going back into nightless sleeps. I have managed to avoid watching all the movies they made over the years about that war. I know they are only movies but not going to push the envelope..............JMHO

  34. So when are we going to see guns that are hammer proof??? Let the panic begin. Of course if you treat every gun as if its loaded you won't be dropping it, and less likely to use a hammer on it. Accidents can happen, but we also lived for many years with the original design 1911, high power, P38, etc and whole army's that treat their guns very roughly didn't have wide spread accidents.

  36. Nice K31 rifle! As others have mentioned, the trifecta of extremely accurate milsurps are the Swiss K31, Finnish M39 and Swedish Mauser. I have a few of each and doubt I'd ever sell any of them.

  37. Well, didn't NRA/TFA and city both settle to drop it, agreeing case was now moot with the 1359 (metal detectors and whatnot), so I guess that's perhaps precedent that could derail any further suits? Or is the TFA one they filed alone still pending? Seems somebody could challenge the relevancy of the newest 39-17-1359 as relates to the parks statute (can't remember number off top of head). They actually do seem to be in conflict seems to me, but that angle hasn't been pursued? - OS

  40. We left some of the best of that generation over there. It's kind of neat watching my dad now. Since he retired, he's gotten really involved in veterans advocacy issues down in Atlanta. He had such a hard time when he came back, but now it's almost like a switch has flipped. He remembers how he was treated and does his best to make sure that nobody suffers through that now. I remember when he was first starting out, they had him talking to a ton of veterans just coming back. He didn't think he had that much to offer or that his story was that interesting, but as it turns out the part of interest was that he made it. He transitioned back into society, had a family and now at 65 years old is still alive. I don't know if he'll watch it or not. He still occasionally wakes up in the jungle and I guess has learned not to turn over some rocks.

  41. I think a lot of folks fall into this fallacy that women 'need' a wheel gun. After all it eliminates the racking of a slide. I bought my eleven year old daughter a S&W MP22 for her birthday. She can work the slide, load the magazine and clear malfunctions all on her own, and give her old man a run for his money on Battleship. Now, if she wants a wheel gun, like men want new guns, more power to her. Let her try several out. See if folks from here can take her out and show her a few, or rent them. I have several single actions, and I LOVE them. I have a double action snubbie and I like it too. However at the end of the day, it is nearly always my Glock 19 that does what I want it to do because I trust it. To the point of having multiples of it. If she wants a new gun, she wants a new gun, that is awesome. If she wants a separate gun, not new, not different, SEPARATE gun from her carry piece for a nightstand gun, get her the same thing she carries. For the record my carry gun is a Glock 19 loaded with Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+. My nightstand gun is a Glock 19 loaded with Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+.
