I believe there are far more than just two political groups. However I think that the argument gets everyone lumped into either us or them. I identify as a conservative. However in reality I am very liberal. I believe that the government should not tell me who to love or how to spend my money. I believe that the government should not tell me what I can say or what I can own. I believe that EVERYONE in life has the ability to make their own choices, and live with the consequences of those choices. That should be done with no input, or cajoling from someone who was not in those shoes at the time that decision was made. I might be wrong, but I don't think I am. I think there are many others like myself on the site who prefer to stay out of the discussions due to an Us vs. Them mentality. Burn me now if you must. I am a gun toting, pro-choice, fiscally conservative, LBGTQ supporting, morally strong, happily married parent of an extraordinary child who owns his own home, works with his hands everyday and pays his taxes, bills and student loans. But above all, I am an American. I believe that America, and Americans can be whatever they want. But dammit, not if we keep fighting among ourselves trying to force everyone to think the same way.5 points

So who has big plans for Labor Day weekend? My son in law just called me and ask me if I wanted to go fishing and I told him no but if he wanted to go to come and get the Skeeter and go. I don't go near the lakes on Holiday weekends. My neighbor was nice enough to give me 2 nice T bone Steaks the other day so I am thinking about griling them out for Kasey and I and making some homemade potatoe salad of Macaroni Salad and maybe some baked beans to go with the steaks. Gonna probably rain anyway even though they are calling for rain to move out Saturday morning. Hope every one does have a good weekend and continue to pray for those folks in Texas.........................4 points

On the flip side of that, I would prefer to pay $5 a gallon for gas and it be available as to see $2 prices and bags on all the pumps when I need gas.3 points

I took the camera arm to the woods with me Saturday to try it out. You know, always check your equipment? This was my opinion so it's worth what I'm charging you. It seemed like it was a little short, well for archery anyway. I believe if you were sitting in a stand with a rifle it would have been perfect. I'm totally new to this so I may change my mind and decide it was fine. But, I came home tonight and cut another 10 1/2 inch section of aluminum tubing and added it to the end. Also I ordered a Muddy friction head and it arrived today. It's very nice for the money! Went to mount it and forgot that I'd put a 1/4 20 bolt in the end piece for the GoPro. Not a big deal at all, just another trip to Lowes and I'll be good to go. I'll post pictures when I'm finished. If im satisfied with the final results I imagine I will make another one. With one made already, I can fix or replace ideas by reviewing the first one.3 points

My father-in-law passed on a deal to me that I couldn't pass up. I picked up a Ruger 10/22 from him with the original stock as well as the Butler Creek folding stock he'd bought but didn't care for. The jewel of the deal is a Ruger 96/22 in .22 mag! I am beside myself with this new addition. It's beautiful and my first .22 magnum of any kind. I know they were only made for several years and that is cool in itself. But it's really going to fit in with my Marlin 336 and Savage 99e nicely. I told my Dad about it and I think he may have been as excited as I was. He told one of his long time friends about it that night. They guy said "Hang on a second." and proceeded to pull out of his safe the exact same rifle. My Dad's jaw dropped and of course asked what he wanted for it. His friend said "Oh, I'll never sell it. I just keep it in the safe." haha It killed Dad to hear that. Anyway, he's coming in to visit next week and he can't wait to see it. I hope we have time to get out and shoot it together. Anyone else on here have one?2 points

That is possibly the worst Photoshop job I have ever seen. Not taking up for the Oathkeepers, here, but come on... have you ever seen a spray can that patterns like that?!2 points

get thyself 6 more and number them 1-12. Cycle them through your car the month corresponding to the number. 1= January, 2 = Feb etc. You will never have gas more than one year old and don't need to use any kind of stabilizer. Yes, I store it and my 60 gallons of diesel in an out building. It comes in real handy when the wife gets home on fumes... Mark2 points

Yesterday I lost my best friend. He was also my brother-in-law. We hunted and fished together for over 40 years. He was a good and kind man. One of the last of the ones whose word was gold. Thanks for listening and if you have someone you cherish in your life let them know. RIP Billy Wayne.1 point

In 1950, my great grandfather (mom's grandpa) bought a 12 gauge shotgun at Sears for $24.88. Some time in the late 50's, he gave it to his son (my grandfather) to rabbit hunt with. And by all accounts, he did just that. Frequently. Even after someone stepped on it in the 70's, and he had to wrap 2 rolls of electrical tape around the stock to keep it together. Then, in 1976 he put it in his bedroom closet after a hunting trip and never took it out again. The gun sat in the back corner of that closet until August, 2017 where my grandmother found it and passed it on to me. I never met the man, but I'm proud to own a part of his life. The gun was covered in rust and brown paint when it was handed to me. Steel wool and Hoppe's solvent solved that problem. The broken stock was beyond my ability to repair. Ebay solved that problem. I'm going to look into repairing the original stock at some point in the future for display. The gun was recalled by J.C. Higgins after an issue with the locking lugs failing on the bolt, so I won't be shooting the gun much. But I'm still glad to be able to shake hands with Grandpa whenever I open the gun safe!1 point

Now thats funny right there cause me and about 5 friends use to do just that just about all holiday's from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Couple coolers and lawn chairs sit up in my buddies yard that lives right on Bull Creek Boat ramp on Old Hickory Lake. WE have see everything from really serious fights to mild arguments, to Naked young ladies that put their bikini's on while standing in the boat while boyfriend or Hubby or who ever it was that was trying to back the boat down one of the ramps. It would begin about 10AM and finally end about 1 PM. The good ole days.............LMAO1 point

I use to watch Buffy too! As far as grilling steaks when she sees me fire up the grill she automatically knows she is eating girlled something whether it be Hot dogs, Chicken breasts. Hamburgers, steaks or fish or anything else I can grill. I grilled some of the last of my Deer Tenderloins the other day. She in very fond of deer meat and loves it grilled. As far as how she is doing, it looks like the medication the Vet has her on is working and she is doing better and I hope it continues to work and thank you for asking..................1 point

The closest I would get to the lake on a holiday weekend is to take a cooler and a lawn chair to the boat ramp to watch the show. Many of these folks haven't had the boat out from behind the house, under that ripped tarp, under the tree since last labor day. In the past year they have forgotten what a Charlie Foxtrot it was the last time someone said "Hey, I know, let's take the boat to the lake! I can back a boat!" It can make for an entertaining afternoon.1 point

I'm sorry if I posted this thread and it has caused a division of any sort to our members. That was not my intentions at all. I just wanted to show a group of Americans that were stepping up and doing all they could do to help the people in the eye of Harvey and were being shot at for their help. I am proud to see the outpouring that is being shown by the people from all across the country that is AMERICA!!! to help provide aid and anything else they can do. It is disasters like these that show what this great country is made of and that is people taking care of anyone that needs help. It is what makes me proud to be an American.........JMHO1 point

I agree 100% . I have decided to only buy Gen 1,2, and 3 . I tried the Gen 4 and didn't like them plus I had a Gen 4 26 and it developed spot rust on it. In my 23 years of owning Glocks . I have never had one rust. So that out a terrible taste in my mouth for the gen 4 's. And I was real excited about the Gen 5's but I just don't see a need to make a different shaped firing pin and use a coil spring instead of the original leaf spring on the slide lock. I do like he fact that the Gen 5 is a 2-pin gun. The 1,2,and 3 Gens never gave me any trouble so that's why I like them so much. I am anxious to see how this new metal treatment and/or finish will hold up. My old Gen 2's and 3's have the original Tenifer treatment and you cant beat that ! Plus my Gen 3's have the "frying pan" finish on top of the Tenifer treatment. Those frying pan finishes will hold up to just about anything.1 point

I'm a big fan of Glock's but I don't feel that this one is "good" enough for me to make it a "have to have one" status.1 point

As far as them getting in garages, they are attracted to the emergency garage door releases that almost always have a red t-handle. Once they get it, it's hard to get them out. I've had them do that at my garage at Center Hill Lake. I just replaced the standard emergency pull cord with a green dog leash and have no more issues with them getting inside.1 point

I received and installed new sights on the P-07 today. I ordered the 6.5mm tall fiber optic front sight and the plain HTAC rear sight from CZ Custom and they arrived in two short days. Removing the front sight was a bear. Far more difficult than it was on my P10C. I had to break out the "blue wrench" (propane torch) and burn the thread locker out of the sight dovetail and then use a liberal amount of force, very carefully, with a steel punch and tack hammer. My brass punch and hammer wouldn't budge it. Driving the front sight in was fairly simple, albeit it did require some force with the brass-faced mallet, and I put a bit of blue Loctite in there for good measure as did CZ. Using my MGW Sight Pro, the rear sight pushed out with ease after the set-screw was loosened. I oiled down the dovetail channel and the top of the slide behind it, and then pressed the HTAC rear sight into place. It required a good amount of attention with a brass punch and my hammer to get it started properly before I could use the MGW tool to press it in the rest of the way. It turned out fine, though. So, would I do this for anyone else? Not a chance in hell. There is just too much risk of damaging the slide's finish or a sight dovetail for me to even consider it. I hear that CZ Custom has a tool that perhaps works better for this than the MGW tool does, but the MGW is what I have. I still need to take some copper solvent to the slide and rear sight in a few places and remove the brass tracks from the punch. Thankfully I was able to do this without ANY damage to the finish anywhere.1 point

They will, but today's the big day. You know people are out there snatching them up. I want to hold one, but the width per specs is really turning me off. For example: G19 Gen 5: 1.34" G19 Gen 4: 1.18" G21 Gen 4: 1.27 According to Glock's own specs these Gen 5's are wider than their previously thickest pistol.1 point

Here's my take on this: The notion that firearms related "flair" on your car increase the odds of it being broken into, seems to have been around on the Internet since the first gun forum opened its doors. I've searched the Internet for actual cases where police reported that there was a direct correlation between a car being broken into and the gun stickers on the outside of it, and could only find a few cases where it was suspected. I've been able to find far more cases where cars were broken into because of the car-audio related stickers on the outside. This seems to be one of those commonly held truisms that are rooted more in feasibility than actuality. Sort of like the idea that if you open carry into a convenience store, you're the first guy a robber is going to shoot when he comes in to hold the place up. Could that happen? Sure. But my own experience has been that while open carry is dumb for a variety of other reasons, the majority of folks are so preoccupied with themselves that they rarely notice you. And I've seen enough surveillance footage to believe that stick-up artists are so nervous and focused on the clerk behind the counter that they're probably not paying too much attention to the guy with the 1911 on his hip at the back of the store browsing the beer cooler.1 point

On the TV show 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' from several years back (yes, I actually liked that show) the real monsters - vampires, demons, etc. - pretty much refused to go out on Halloween night without a very good reason. They said it was 'amateur night' and would always stay in. That is just about how I feel about going to the mountains, fishing, camping or anything like that on Labor Day weekend - and most of the time on holiday weekends, in general. I may not stay completely sequestered away this weekend but won't be looking to engage in those or related activities, either. My place of employment isn't closed on Monday so I will be working that day and won't be getting a long weekend, anyhow. Bersaguy, I absolutely love that you are planning to grill one of those steaks for your four-legged friend. How is Kasey doing, anyhow?0 points
