  1. I'm just here for the funny pics threads.

  2. I think they should cordon off an area, dump a few truckloads of Antifa in there, and let them beat the living #### out of each other. In fact, they should do it in every town.

  3. I wrestled with where to place this, in the General area or here, So if it need be it can be moved there, but I was fascinated by this video, a piece of glass defeating a 38 Special. The glass is something of a novelty in scientific community and worth a look see as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Rupert's_Drop This guy puts out a few other videos but not all gun related, but science(ish) related.

  4. Asking how many guns someone owns goes right in there with asking a woman how much she weighs. Its just bad form.

  5. I made my first attempt at making my own camera arm so I could try to film my hunts. I have very little invested since everything except the hardware was scrap aluminum that I had laying around. Ordered a GoMuddy friction head to mount the camera on. I have a mount for the GoPro as well but it will be on my smaller camera arm that will be behind me for video of the shooting. It was a pretty fun project. I used nylon washers and spacers with locknuts providing the torque to tighten as needed for smooth movement. Any of y'all make your own? Good ones are not cheap so figured I'd try it. Now I'm gonna make a couple more and try to come up with a simple design for the frame that attaches to the tree. That was I can make a few and leave them on different trees and just carry the arm with me.

  6. You will be welcome here! Just remember though we like it the way it is, If you want to change it to "How we do this in NY" please don't. Florida was ruined that way. I know you will find it much better life here in Tennessee. Native here even though I did leave for quite some time due to military service. Then of course I married a Yankee. Wow, I got he last good one I think. She has seen the light though and we are building a house on the mountain here. Great people and peaceful.

  7. True. But we've had several new Gen 4 19's in with front serrations and steel sights. Just a model that's available now.

  10. If you aren't an H-D devout, you can just skip this. So today the new 2018 line-up was announced. The big hype was on the new Softails. I scrolled through them. A Softail Street Bob. Oh that is neat, they have a Dyna and a Softail now. Next, the Softail Fat Bob, oh, that is neat they have a... Next The Softail Low Rider... Oh snap... What about the Dyna? Sure enough the Dyna and the VRod are gone from the lineup. It seems that the Motor Company has put enough effort into the Street line that it is intended to replace the Sportster as the 'girls bike' and the Sporty moves uptown to be the mid-line bike the Dyna used to be. Being a Sporty enthusiast I always thought of the Dyna as a heavier more powerful Sporty, but the heritage was still there. To be honest I never cared much for the Softails. I guess the goal is to focus on the Street (the Street Rod would interest me a lot more with rearsets, just saying...) and the Touring bikes. With the Sportster and the Softail being the stop-gaps to get there. I do find it funny, my Sportster (which is highly modified) will outhandle any other HD I have encountered, even if it isn't as comfortable as a Geezer Glide. So with it being the de facto Dyna replacement, how will that change popular opinion?

  11. This will be my first year hunting suppressed. In my early days of hunting, I never wore ear pro, at least when deer hunting. One day in high school, I woke up and noticed both of my ears ringing like crazy and they've never stopped since. I was never one to try and damage my hearing. I really hated loud noises (except deer hunting). So, I don't know why they all of a sudden started ringing, but since then, I've been super paranoid about protecting my ears. I was the goober all through high school and college who wore ear plugs to dances, concerts and SEC football games....well I went to Mississippi State and the Cowbells can leave a lasting impression lol. I have this awesome velcro wallet with a pouch on it thats just for carrying my ear plugs just in case I find myself in a painful location....i'm super cool as you've already noticed. Anyways, since my ears took a dump, my love for hunting has only grown. I'm blessed with access to quality land and I take full advantage of it. I've never fired a shot without ear pro since high school and never intend to either. Honestly, if there was a Boone and Crockett buck in front of me, and I couldn't manage to get some ear muffs on, I would pass. It wouldn't be worth the lifelong hearing damage. When deer hunting, I don't wear any ear pro until I'm about to shoot. That way I can still use whats left of my acuity to pinpoint where sounds are coming from. There have been several times the deer ended up on top of me to where I couldn't put my ear muffs on without running them off. While turkey hunting, I wear Pro Ears electronic muffs. Some of the best money can buy and while they are great, audio acuity (judging distance and direction of sounds) is still not as good as my bare ears. So, i've acquired a few gun mufflers over the last year and am looking forward to seeing how this changes my hunting. I'm also interested in seeing how animals react differently to the sound of a suppressed rifle...which is harder to locate, than that of an unsupressed rifle. I mean, they are going to hear it....its still loud...but just curious if maybe they would be less spooked? Maybe after you've shot, you've noticed new deer enter the field afterwords because they were hanging out a little further and just not spooked? I still plan on throwing on some muffs even though its technically "hearing safe". I'm not sure the governments number of 140db's is law for everyones ears but I did shoot my 308 suppressed 3 times without ear pro, and its still pretty loud....but it didn't ring my ears at all. So, if that Boone and Crocket shows up....he's going down ear pro or not! I'm curious, anyone care to chime in on their suppressed hunting experiences? Anyone going to be shooting suppressed this year for the first time? Anyone run out yet to get you a velcro wallet?

  12. I would really like to. I have the can, but my 300bo AR pistol is not really my ideal hunting weapon. I would like to get a 300bo bolt rifle, and then I would have a better setup. I also intend to thread one of my '06, but I would benefit more with the 300bo. I have a Rugged Surge 762 can. I don't have the velcro wallet, but I do have a few pairs of foam ear plugs pretty close at all times. I work in a hearing sensitive environment, so plugs are a normal part of my world. I don't usually wear them deer hunting, but I do in a duck blind for sure.

  15. I don't even have the 30mm tools. Again, if I had a scope that was a lot of money to me, I would lap the rings. A $1k scope isn't included in that
    1 point
  16. The first thing it fixes is ring marks on the scope. Lapping won't hurt anything. It's like lapping the front of an AR upper receiver. Haven't found one yet that was flat when I started, and I have done several. Even the CMT uppers needed it.

  17. I have lapped rings and done some good. My most expensive scope was $1k, and is sitting in a Larue mount (that you probably DON'T need to lap). If you lap a set of perfect rings, it will simply dull the finish on the inside of the rings. My bet is that you will find high spots on all of them. If I ever mount something like a Schmidt and Bender, I promise you I will lap the rings.

  19. What are these guns of which you speak? The .gov keeps records of legal gun sales by state, Google it. As Grayfox posted, why ask? I understand curiosity, but as my peers suspect this is a trolling mission, is your intention to create and / or reinforce a narrative or stereotype of "East Tennessee rednecks tucked away in the land that time forgot." If your intent is to learn that the 2A is an INDIVIDUAL right, how to safely and with great fun operate firearms, and gain some (contentious at times) common sense, please participate with an open mind and thick skin.

  21. Yes, I know all about the Waggin-trail issues. I stopped feeding anything not made here by a reputable company. I misspoke when I said jerky; it's actually Betsy Farms Chicken Grillers. More like a chicken patty than anything else. After the problems with animal foods of all types and brands over the past years, I ask my vet about each food and treat I use. I haven't seen or heard a negative on them yet.

  26. Glad to know your dogs have you to care for them. I spend about the same on kasey as I do on myself each month in the way of food and meds. It works out fairly well since she eats what I eat and we can share. Yea, I do eat alot of chicken but I never knew how many different ways you can prepare it till I began feeding her chicken as a pup. She only gets hers cooked in crock pot and I cook mine in some other way and add veggies. I buy all my Chicken Breasts at Sams in 8lb bags and buy 4 to 5 bags a month when I go. I get her Jerky turkey Treats there also. I have to order her Turkey Sticks on line as Sams does not sell them. Now as for her ears! When she was about a year old she got out of the yard and into the road in front of the house and a car hit her with just a glancing blow and car had one of those cushion style bumpers plus the drivers was trying to stop before hitting her so might have been doing less than 10MPH. It was enough to roll her over in yard across the road. Car continued on but neighbor across the road got my attention to her laying in the yard. I went to get her and she was laying but her head was up and she was trying to wag her tail and as I picked her up she licked my face and didn't cry out in pain so that was a good sign. Neighbor lady told me she didn't get hit hard but just enough to bump her off into her yard. Before she got hit both of her ears stood up. Since she got hit her right ear has laid down but when she is alerted to a noise or a car pulls in both ears are standing up so she can stand it up when she wants to. She has never forgot that day because when I go get the mail out of the box she will follow me to the corner of the front house and from then on just watch me till I get the mail and come back to the corner of the house and then she will come back to the cottage we live in and loves to stretch out on an old hard kitchen floor and I tell her she looks like an old fat hog and her tail wags a few times and she never raises her head. I will try and get a picture of her when she is doing to hogg routine.

  27. Because they are unnecessary IMO. The manual of arms that Glock teaches revolves around the power stroke method and no press checks. +1 on the metal sights. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

  28. That would be great. I have the Ameriglo orange Pro i-Dot on my 17 and Ameriglo orange Operator on my 19, 43 and 20. Love both of those sights by Ameriglo.

  29. I am trying to find it, and perhaps one of you will beat me to it... but there was a leaked list of SKU numbers last week that showed the various Gen 5 Glock's coming. One option for each model was to have the Ameriglo steel night sights that were spec'd for the FBI. The setup is very similar to the one I run on my Glocks. Tritium front with orange (or red) outline ring and a rear sight with diminished Tritium vials and no outline ring. I run the Ameriglo orange outlined Pro i-Dot front sight and the Wilson Combat / Vickers Tactical rear sight. Very fast combination.

  30. My guess is the gen5 is catering to the ever-present following of gen2 lovers (me included ), so back to the simple and basic design is probably the goal. I'm not really a fan of front serrations, so I'm diggin' it.

  32. The news this morning said they're literally going to create a barricaded area and wand anyone who wants to enter. The presence of metal detectors is the loophole that makes it legal. I still say if there's no one around to hear/see their protest, they'll get bored and leave.

  33. Well, they have a Gen 4 with both of those "improvements." We have one in the shop. Looking more at that 2nd pic above. With the finger grooves gone and the magwell... I think they've made an Austrian FNS with a bad grip angle.

  36. I kind of like the finger grooves - they fit my skinny hands well. But, I'd shoot the Gen 5 - or pick up some Gen 4s when folks have to have the new one. Been thinking about going full race dragon on one.

  37. Impress me? Lol. Glock is an industry standard, their track record is impressive enough. The finger grooves, meh, they're a non-issue for me. They fit fine. I don't have sausage fingers. I can see where someone with meat hook hands would prefer them gone. The finish has always been dull and utilitarian. It works. I just don't see any bar raising. They didn't do anything they haven't already done. The 36 nose is like that, and the Gen 2 grip with Gen 4 texture is fine. There's just nothing of an earth shattering breakthrough here. I'm sure it's as good as any other Glock.

  46. My Molly, lying at my feet right now, is an 8 year old Border Collie/Aussie Shepard mix. She currently weighs in at 39 pounds. And is the pickiest eating dog we have ever had. She will eat only Wilderness Blue Salmon flavor. Hates canned foods of any kind, even the candy of dog foods...Alpo. Will sniff and walk away from it. I've given up on trying other dry foods. It's just a waste of money. Even the other flavors of Blue get ignored. As far as treats, she will beg and plead for Greenies until she gets one. And a 30+ a box that gets expensive. I've taken to getting the larger size and giving her half of it. Seems to work. But...she also gets a denta-stick a day, and a small chicken jerky treat. Molly has gotten me very well trained. I fix her food and fresh water, call her several times; and rarely will she eat without one of her treats as an appetizer. lol She really hates pills, but recently has given up. When I show her the pill, Molly will sit at my feet and allow me to gently(pry) her mouth open and drop the pill on the back of her tongue. Still hates them, but is getting resigned to them I guess. All in all, I'm a well trained human. She did a great job with me.
