This Fall is going to be pretty insane for me with my wife and I expecting another child "any day now" but I'd like to try and organize a Meet n' Shoot for late September or early October if at all possible. Very likely on a Saturday at the Charlie Haffner Memorial Range. It's a safe but casual environment and more conducive to being able to get some shooting in and socializing without being constrained or flooded with sound the way you are at indoor ranges. Thoughts?4 points

why? there are more NDs from dummies than dropping a 320, and they haven't banned dummies yet......2 points

What is sad is that we have let this regime blackmail us for as long as we have. We should of stood firm like this back before they had the capability to threaten us.2 points

I think whomever runs Glock has been hanging out with Wendy. That's legit from their FB page. I took the screen cap myself.2 points

Yeah, let's try to keep the events relevant to shooting, TGO gatherings, etc. I love me some Social Distortion, though.1 point

Bought this as a beater gun, came in last week - chopped the shell tube so a remmy 870 +3 extension would fit on it and popped on a fast fire III. Since the optic was free last year, This guy is all in under $400. Not shabby for a 9 round semi 12ga. stock after1 point

Don't actually do flavored water - got into a carbonated water kick in germany years ago and prefer it gassed up only.1 point

Nice work. I like that. Now I can not condone your choice of flavors of your Polar water. Everybody knows that the Grapefruit flavor is the best.1 point

Club event postings must be approved by a moderator. You can disregard the one I just posted for Social Distortion in Knoxville next Friday if you want. More of a test than anything.1 point

I'm reading that they are going to make some adjustments on the Clubs feature with the next maintenance release. It is a new feature and the first iteration of it, so I am not entirely surprised that they need to polish it up some.1 point

Haven't tried with Firefox yet but once you get up in da club there is a drop-down menu just under the banner. It is set to "Home" by default. Click on that and it exposes several more options including "yourclubnamehere topics". Click on that and then you can make a post. Not all that intuitive but not too bad. Update: Works on Firefox mobile (iOS) but I haven't tried it on a proper computer yet.1 point

There was a lot of discussion here about this incident when it happened. I think most agreed the officer had the right to disarm him, even if we do not agree with it, but he went about it in a stupid and dangerous way.1 point

Honestly, I think it was kind of insane that they were planning to have classes. Think of this: Just 'next door' in Sweetwater they are predicting tens of thousands of visitors. Hotels there have apparently been booked up for about a year, from what I have been told. Loudon is closing the freaking bridge - the only way to get into town from the highway (as in not using the Interstate) so people can stand and watch the eclipse there. The eclipse event at Fort Loudoun State Park (yeah, it is spelled differently) is sold out. Sweetwater, Loudon - these are very small, rural towns. The streets are not designed to take this kind of traffic load. Trying to get kids to and from school that day would be an absolute nightmare because of traffic, etc. Kids trying to wait to catch the bus would probably create a dangerous situation for the kids. It is going to be chaos. I think it is only sensible to close the schools - not because everyone needs to be out to see a 2.5 minute eclipse but because of the massive cluster**** that will ensue when that many people who aren't from the area and have no clue where they are going try to pack into a few, small towns and then start freaking out because a tree or hill or tree on a hill is blocking them from having the absolute, perfectly unobstructed view of the eclipse and so try to start moving around to see it better.. No need adding to the insanity with buses, cars, etc. bringing kids to and from school. Besides, this way if several hundred Elementary School students wind up being blind on the 22nd it will be on the parents/guardians/etc. and not the schools. EDIT: I checked out of curiosity and the message on the Loudon County Schools website basically echoes what I was saying, above:1 point

That's sad. I'm normally a gallows-humor kind of guy but I don't even think I can laugh about this one. Those folks really are at risk.1 point

It sounds like you've owned a few contenders. This is my second one, I had a Gen1 before this. In a conversation that I had with Gary Reeder, he told me that there are some G2s that will only fit nbarrels that he has made for them. In another conversation with Mike Belm, he told me that there have been design changes for different series of Contender frames within each generation. This discussion is a bit premature because my frame is still in the FFL shop where it will have to stay for another 9 days from today before I'll be able to pick it up. I did have a chance to try out my barrel, a .41 mag from an older contender from back in the days when the factory still produced .41 mag barrels. The dealer let me try my barrel out at the counter to see how the fit is. It would snap shut nicely but I couldn't cock the hammer. Something that's interesting is that on a different G2 that he has my barrel fit perfectly and there was no hammer cocking issue. That's all I can say for now. If I could I'd send it back or trade. I got it online. There's good news though, TC (S&W) offers a rebate of $75 for purchaces made during 2017 Maybe I'll collect the rebate first then send it back, that will compensate me for the transfer fees lost. It's difficult to recommend buying a Contender to a friend, knowing the issues with barrel fit. Every bit of literature out there from the company says that any barrel made will fit my frame, and that is simply untrue.1 point

I also received mine on Wednesday . Awesome!! First out the front knives I've ever had! And me, being the smart individual that I am, purchased two, so that I can carry one, and store the other in the safe. I know what you mean, bubbadavis. When I was about 9 (maybe 1970 or so?) I received a Boy Scout Hunter's Knife with manly leather sheath. After taking it out and admiring it on Christmas morning, I returned it to the heavy (manly) leather sheath, and promptly drove it through the leather into my thumb. My mom was not amused. Dad sort of chuckled, then acted like the house was burning down (because my mom wasn't amused). Yeah, there was a lot of blood. I (obviously) survived, and have been fascinated (but respectful) of knives ever since. This is a beautiful knife. Thank you, Willis!!1 point

Who here remembers or even went to "The Wind in the Willows". If you never saw Hubert Davis and the Season Travelers you missed a good one.1 point

Does anyone know when the first honky tonks started up on Broadway? I know they were there in the late 80s/early 90s, but I don't know how long before then. I don't think they were there back in the 60s. My in-laws talk about going downtown to Cain-Sloan and Harvey's, and to some of the furniture places on Broadway. I've also seen some PBS specials on old Nashville in the 1950s and 60s and I don't think I saw any of the 'tonks then.1 point

That would imply that there's an acceptable height (that's not something absurd like 1000ft) from which you can drop the gun and it's ok for it to fire.1 point

Haha. I agree with you there. Amusingly enough, I have some folks on social media platforms who actually know this gent. He apparently ran with a neo nazi crew in the 90s. So whatever his story is, I bet it is an interesting one.1 point

I've sort of come to the conclusion that lower Broadway is a chariacture of everything. Nothing you see there is authentic. I live about 7 miles from there and almost never go down there. Recently I took my kids to a birthday party that was happening at a restaurant down there. After walking down lower Broad, my six year old looked at me and said, "Dad, what was that place?"1 point

Wendy's has the best trolling game in the fast food industry but Glock might give them a run for their money. That's brilliant.1 point

SCCY CPX 1 with safety, CPX2 without. Should be able to get one out-the-door for $225. Good shooter, small, 10 +1 capacity.1 point

As a side note, several have posted how they tell the cop they are armed. I've never done this and don't plan to start if not required. The last thing I want during a traffic stop is to get disarmed by someone who may or may not be familiar with the gun I carry (especially since it's usually a single action auto), and the first step to getting disarmed is telling them you are armed. Sure, they can see that you have a permit if they run your license, but I've been stopped six or seven times since getting a permit and have never once been asked if I had a gun. Maybe they were in a hurry or maybe they just didn't care, but STFU has been a winning formula so far.1 point

So in case anyone was wondering. If you push the button while the knife is pointing into your hand it will go in about 1/4". I was showing mine to a guy at work who did exactly that.... I was amused.0 points

Yea, but like horseshoes and hand grenades, with nukes close is good enough. Even if the nuke misses by a mile it would be not only locally devastating, it would be the start of a massive retaliation that may escalate into a nuclear winter the likes of which have yet to be seen.0 points
