I looked around and did not see a thread started, so I thought I should. I just wanted to say thank you to the generous persons that donated the Benefactor memberships, one of which I am now a proud user of. I really was thinking I needed to join up. I have a few items I need to let go of to fund other projects and I am sure I can fill a good sized box of things I really would like to give away to anyone they may be of use to. This is about the only place on the internet I would consider selling a gun through. So again, thank you very much, hopefully I will find away to pay it forward.6 points

The officer should of issued a summons, instead of arresting her..its not like she was going anywhere. In the mean time the SN and her story could of been confirmed. At this point, an apology and reimbursement for all legal fees, lost wages/profit and inconvenience should be made.5 points

She deserves a formal public apology at a minimum! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk5 points

It has not been my experience to be treated as such, but yes many do. I don't think one should have to sue to get compensated, it should automatically be done to keep the system in check. If errors start costing the departments some operating funds, less errors are likely to occur, or at least more consequences for those making such errors.3 points
-
I am one that thinks people and entities get sued way too often for stupid reasons. This isn't one of them, yes she should sue.3 points
-
She needs to just go ahead and Sue them for false arrest etc. because their apology does not even the score. She probably wont get anything but she can inconvenience them to the point they did her.3 points

Well my a/c unit decided to take a dump this morning. I noticed it was getting warm in the house and went and check thermostat and it read 81 degrees and said unit was on but nothing was coming from vents. Called landlord and he said he will be here this evening after work. Folks have asked me why I have a few 110 window units in my windows while I have Central. This is the reason why. I turned on both units in both bedrooms that are side by side and put an ocilating fan in the living room between to 2 bedrooms and it is not real cool in here right now but tolerable till the land lord gets unit back up and working. I do have a good landlord and he fixes things as quick as he can. This is the 2nd time in last 5 years I have had unit issues and the first time it was down 2 days waiting on parts and window units kept it ok till repair was made. At least it is not as hot outside as it has been the last couple days............2 points

I have to agree with Omega on this one for sure. I think police departments need to be held accountable for their mistakes as well as any other business is. They think becuase they are a Government agency they are above the law when actually they should be held just as accountable for their mistakes as any other company or individual would be.............JMHO2 points

Something else is how a wood stocked AK feels. I have a few AKs but the wood stocked ones are the ones that make me smile. Kind of like how a steel and wood handgun feels.2 points

I'd also like to express my thanks. I will eventually buy a lifetime membership but this is very much appreciated until that time comes.2 points

She needs to be reimbursed for any attorney fees that she might have ensued even if she doesn't sue.2 points

Finally got the Hakim in and completed the trio ( Ljungman, Rasheed, & Hakim) The Garand just happened to be in the same room, so it too made it into the picture. Sorry for the crappy lighting and the wrinkles in the background1 point

Shot both of these over the weekend, and very pleased with them both. Out of the two, I prefer the m94 overall, but the way the Krag loads is just so cool and unique. I ordered a larger aperture disc for the rear peep sight, and it just came in the mail today. It's a "hunting" aperture so I'll see how I like it. That tiny "target" aperture is super hard for me to see anything through, and nearly impossible if there's any sun in your eyes. FYI, both of these rifles are recommended to shoot milder loads than the commercially available ammo. I put 38.0 grains of Reloader 22 behind some 140 gr Hornady SP Interlock bullets, and I think I'll stick with that load for now. Very sweet shooting guns. Maybe I'll be able to take them out to 500-600 yards soon..1 point

Smart move on your part my friend. Your going to find that the new unit will be much more energy efficient and save on your power bills in the future. I have lived here for about 18 + years and about 6 years ago just about the time my landlord purchased the place the Central unit that was on this cottage took a major dump and the other owner had to put one in and this place sold to the man that has it now 2 months later so he dodged a bullet. Anyway I saw a large difference in my power bills as they were down as much as 30 to 40%.1 point

Thank you for the compliments Tacops. yea, I have always been one to plan ahead for things within my power to do. I know that things do break down and most times at the worst time possible so I try to be ready. As far as my landlord. He is a nice guy from some foreign country. I think Budapest is where he told me one time but could be wrong. He is a very hard working fair and honest man. He has my A/C back up and running already. It took him about 30 minutes to find the problem and had to replace a small transformer and it's up and running again. He never complains when I call him about an issue but some things I just fix myself if it's something I can do and does not cost much so don't bother him with it. I think he knows I do that even though I have never told him. I think my neighbors in the other duplexes may have mentions that I would fix small things in their places so he does not have to make a trip for something that takes 10 minutes and 5 bucks to fix but they would call him for that. The elderly lady had him come once to change a light bulb in her livingroom even though there was still 3 working. I told her from now on call me to do stuff like that. The landlord bought Central unit filters for all 3 units and gave them to the tennants and when he showed up to give me mine I showed him a pack of 5 new ones I already had in utility room. Once a month I go to the other units and change out the filters so he does not have to come and do it. Just who I am!..........1 point

That is a noteworthy decision.1 point

I tip my hat to you Bersaguy, you had a problem (A/C), obviously you are a guy who thinks ahead and had a contingency in place, rather than complain incessantly because something broke (as things always do) you actually complimented your landlord by recognizing that he typically gets things fixed as quickly as he can. Though I have never met you I would say you are a can do, conservative (not much of a reach considering your presence on this board and content of posts), understanding kind of guy that knows how to sensibly deal with a challenge. But I pity the fool that doesn't get your A/C fixed quick in this kind of heat.1 point

What kind of unit? Mine went out and it was the capacitor, a relatively cheap part. Mine was $21 but that is because I bought it local, it would of been $14 ($8 right now) if I would of ordered it online.1 point

I just posted that many police departments do racial profiling. I wonder if she would have be white if that officer would have acted the same way and even asked for the gun after she provided a carry permit. That might be a question that is needed to be asked and answered!1 point
-
The officer screwed up and ran the wrong number. He should get an official reprimand AND the lady should sue. Normally, I'm extremely supportive of Law Enforcement. But if an officer makes a stupid mistake and then defames an innocent citizen for it, then he should pay the price just like anybody else.1 point

Congrats folks! It certainly is very generous of someone, I too won a membership last year and it was quite unexpected. Thanks TGO! I have yet to sell anything but am considering on doing so to fund another hobby that rolls on 2 wheels.1 point

This sounds like a search without probable cause...to ask someone for their personal property and then run what is effectively a background check on it. Although i'm sure the officer will say that he only "asked" and that she didn't have to give it to him.1 point
-
If you carry a gun, you will get treated like a criminal, regardless of whether you are or not. She should be able to sue, and win and be compensated for lost wages, any attorney fees, defamation of character, and whatever else her attorney can think of. This is ridiculous.1 point

[quote post="1452108" timestamp="150Yes, 7.62x39 starts to suck fast past about 200yds, but who's ever going to need that in a real world scenario here in the US? Well that quote got all messed up, but someone claimed AKs suck past 200. Uh,no they do just fine. :-) https://youtu.be/chiTUvryG5USent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

He has a right to invoke the 5th; and they can fire him for it. Based on the very little bit I have seen; he will be charged criminally. The lack of information being released is ridiculous. And them saying the investigation could take 3-4 months is also crazy. The Officer driving the Patrol car is talking and has given his statement. As soon as a citizen invoked the 5th they would have been arrested; it should be no different for him. I’ve tried to think of what he could be using as a defense, and can’t think of anything. So he heard a loud noise (gun shot) and thought it was an ambush? Even if that was the case you don’t start shooting everyone in the area. Unless there is some astounding revelation in this case; I think he is headed for prison. That is if he is still in the country by the time they decide to arrest him.1 point

My home state was also the battleground for the creation of this beautiful country against the British. It's sad how The northern states who fought for freedom and liberty are so anti those sediments today with California. I am from northern NJ. Sussex county area. It is beautiful rural and mountainous terrain below the pocconos in Pennsylvania. Most people up that way are very pro freedom and liberty. Nothing like most other areas of NJ that you see on TV. The new divide in this country is pro liberty or pro big government. I chose my side and I couldn't be happier. Thank you all again for the welcome.1 point

A huge advantage 300 Blackout has over 7.62x39 is its ability to run heavy subsonic loads. Out of the same magazine you can run subsonic and supersonic loads. But supersonic loads are comparable to the 7.62x39. I designed the heaviest cast bullet for the 300 Blackout. It is a 265 grain monster that is stable in typical 300 Blackout twists. Powder fill has been optimized for powders typically used for the 300 Blackout. It will feed from a magazine. And because it was optimized for the 300 Blackout accuracy is also great. It lets you use ~25% less powder. And because you use less powder that means less gas and less gas means your silenced gun is quieter. I carry an AK every time I leave my house and have one close at all times. It is the platform I grab when things get serious. I carried ARs for both work and play for most of my adult life but feel the AK is better suited than an AR for me.1 point

I like the variety of posts here. For me, I was looking for what I hoped would be the right truck gun. 7.62x39 had comparatively unique and compelling ballistics. This is what I found: What makes the 7.62x39 so great to me is that it holds it's energy better than other rifle calibers when fired through shorter barrels. You can still have muzzle velocities around 2000fps through a 7.5" barrel. That's impressive. I own the IWI Galil ACE pistol and I love it. I bought a Draco pistol as well. You made a great choice and I'll be curious to hear your update after you take it out.1 point
