  2. I had my first and hopefully last squib today. I actually tried to cycle another round in the chamber but luckily it was far enough back not to let the slide close. Dumb move on my part! If something seems wrong stop and check it out. I thought I would pass this along so maybe somebody could learn from my stupid mistake.

  3. I don't see the need. I've never had HCP holder even now with vehicle carry be a problem. It is typically the unlawful possession ones imagine that!

  4. A huge advantage 300 Blackout has over 7.62x39 is its ability to run heavy subsonic loads. Out of the same magazine you can run subsonic and supersonic loads. But supersonic loads are comparable to the 7.62x39. I designed the heaviest cast bullet for the 300 Blackout. It is a 265 grain monster that is stable in typical 300 Blackout twists. Powder fill has been optimized for powders typically used for the 300 Blackout. It will feed from a magazine. And because it was optimized for the 300 Blackout accuracy is also great. It lets you use ~25% less powder. And because you use less powder that means less gas and less gas means your silenced gun is quieter. I carry an AK every time I leave my house and have one close at all times. It is the platform I grab when things get serious. I carried ARs for both work and play for most of my adult life but feel the AK is better suited than an AR for me.

  5. Oh the pucker factor that produces!!!!! Loaded up some "hot" loads for a Ruger GP-100, nice and toasty they were when the third round went "Pew" instead of boom! Not a good feeling at all!! Obviously I loaded one up without powder, just the primer, and the bullet was a third down the barrel. I ALWAYS carry a brass rod or a hardwood dowel in my range bag. It came into use that day. When I pulled the trigger, I think I peed a little with that sound of the squib! Be safe all!! Be aware!

  6. Rep. Mike Rogers' amendment was included in the House version of the NDAA which passed today. If the Senate passes it (and they probably will) then I think the Army has to release the surplus 1911s to the CMP. http://www.personaldefenseworld.com/2017/07/cmp-1911-pistols/

  7. Thank you all for the welcome! I moved away from lame brain ideas! I will do anything in my power to not have those types of ideas come here!

  8. Kids should be taught by their parents what to do during a traffic stop; if they don’t know they should find out. Not just about guns, but about everything. I have seen many ridiculous videos by lawyers and statements by people about what their rights are its ridiculous. A lawyer can tell you what is going to happen in the courtroom; a cop can tell you what is going to happen on the street. For example; certainly you have the right to refuse a search, but you don’t have the right to obstruct the Officer if he decides to search anyway. I never asked to search a vehicle I didn’t already have probable cause to search. I ask just to see how the rest of the stop is going to go. If you have something illegal in the car (drugs, alcohol, whatever) you have a choice to make right then on the spot; cooperate or not. Kids have been told for decades the cops need a warrant to search their car; nothing could be farther from the truth. Parents owe their kids to give the proper info or find someone that can. How to deal with cops when you have a gun should be common sense; however as we have seen it is not. Cops aren’t without fault either; but that doesn’t help you or your kid if you are dead. A cop just shot a victim reporting a crime to death because he heard a loud noise. From what little bit has been released he will probably go to prison, but that doesn’t help her one bit; there are people that are carrying guns that are improperly trained or have no business with a gun in the first place, Police and citizens alike. This is the information age; the information is out there. Unfortunately like we have seen here so many times; the information can be wrong. Especially when you start talking in generalities about laws, crossing state lines, etc.

  10. I understand... A "squib" will sober ya up, no matter the source... The advice about paying attention before pulling the trigger on the next round is golden... I've handloaded for the last 40 years or so... Never had a rifle round squib, but have had some revolver squibs... Mostly from lotsa slow burning powder, like 296, in 44 mags or 45 colts... Lotsa times the handload squibs are from poor bullet pull... That's why its so important to size the brass well and crimp the bullets in the heavy duty revolver loads... leroy....

  11. Congratulations on the AK Tungsten! I believe the Palmetto "American AK" is a direct bi-product off their acquisition of TN AK manufacturer DDI. DDI built a solid reputation for building quality AK variants off Hungarian parts kits. Like all American AK manufacturers as proper commie parts kits availability has become more constraining they have been working towards building a quality 100% US made AK. The communist oppressors have a 60 year head start on us in development and manufacturing processes but the more we support a demand for quality AKs made by american hands the better they will become. As far as training and ancillary gear for the AK, if you are firmly invested in the AR then the AK will give you nothing that a quality 5.56 or 300blk AR wont do as well or better(and slightly lighter) without the investment in gear. Well, that is without the Mongo simple AK nomenclature and mythical apocalypse ready reliability. Enjoy the new toy! Fair warning though the next morning after your first AK range session may make you feel a little dirty like a vegas escort happened to follow you up to your hotel room from the casino.....lol

  12. LOL, I know right? I just never pulled the trigger on them. For the longest time I could have picked up an Arsenal AK for about the same price as the PSA, but then Sandy Hook happened and the whole damn thing came apart. I guess I finally decided that enough was enough.

  13. Glad you caught the squiB. I'd wager everyone who reloads has had at least one. Another good reminder to pay attention when reloading and firing (even factory ammo).

  14. What makes it great to me is that ammo is barely more expensive than 22 lr, yet you KNOW you shot something when you pull the trigger.

  16. Just left the theater, that was an extremely good movie. It was shot in a way like I've never seen another war movie - focused on just surviving a ####ty situation and not on winning a battle. The dog fights/plane scenes were so big that I don't think a normal theater will do them justice, so if you go see it, check out IMAX for certain.

  17. I'm going to get an AK-47 someday, just being stingy with money currently. I want the "classic" look one though. Either an old beat up wood stock, or the under folder. Aside from the collection itch it scratches, it's quite possibly the most practical rifle for all contingencies. Fantastic yet simple mechanics in operation, that you can drag through the mud and still put rounds downrange. The ammo is good in punch without being prohibitively expensive to stock up on or too bulky to carry in large qualities. Yes, 7.62x39 starts to suck fast past about 200yds, but who's ever going to need that in a real world scenario here in the US? I love ARs. They'll always be my primary go-to...but the AK will be ready if they ever go down or I can't get parts. Just as soon as I get one anyway.

  18. No, not apples to oranges. Rights are numerated in The U.S. Constitution that were signed off by the states of said union. The Supreme Court is a branch of the Federal Government that is ultimately responsible for upholding The U.S. Constitution; not the state. It's not a state right to remove a right that is given by The U.S. Constitution.
