  1. Bought two guns in 3 days, both are chambered in 6.5x55. On top we have a Norwegian Krag Jorgensen. Best I can tell it's a model M1894 that's been turned into a civilian target rifle. The rear sight has been removed and a new handguard has been put on it. Not exactly sure where someone would have found a handguard this style that fits the rifle so nicely. The barrel and receiver match, along with other parts such as the barrel bands. But the stock and bolt have different serial numbers. Also what's odd, is the buttplate doesn't have an opening for storing a cleaning kit, even though the wood underneath it is drilled out.... But the buttplate matches the stock numbers, so who knows? Currently, it has a Lyman 57 SME peep sight. I looked into getting a rear sight and returning it to it's original configuration, but that will cost around $500 to do so, so for now, I'll just enjoy it as it is. The rifle on the bottom is a Swedish m94 Carbine, and it's my favorite of the two. Sure the rifling of the bore is a bit worn, the sling isn't leather, and the slide on the rear sight needs a new spring, but it's just such a cute little fellow. It's a cock on closing bolt, similar to the Lee Enfields, smooth operating, easy to disassemble/ clean, and coming in at 37 inches overall, it's a handy size. Seeing that the Norwegian Krag's aren't able to handle the higher pressures that the Swede can, I'll have to shoot up some of my commercial brass so I can reload for the Krag as safer pressures, but that's no big deal. Hope to get these both printed on paper relatively soon. I'm sure the soft recoil of the 6.5x55 will make both of these sweet shooters.

  2. I was able to beat the rain this AM and get some range time with these 3. I had not fired 2 of them so it was fun getting acquainted... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Just got a new Superior Mater series 50 from Parkers Safe, He even brought it out July 4th and set it up. After talking to another company in the area and going out and looking, They never returned the 5 calls I placed on getting other info. Ended up calling Arron, he was very pleasant to deal with over a few months as I was deciding what to get. Ended up with the SM50 and I'm very impressed with the quality and personal experience with Superior and Arron. A few thumbs up and Highly recommend him if you are looking for a safe.

  5. Just got back from London a couple weeks ago. It was great! Pack light. The accommodations are hilariously small across the pond. Yes, the all-inclusive tube/bus passes are great. You can get just about anywhere relatively quickly and easily. If you'll be there a few days, I highly recommend taking the open top bus guided tour first. You'll see a lot and get a good idea of the layout of the city proper and visit the highlights. Then on the later days you can go back and really spend some time at places that interest you. Stonehenge was cool, but it's a 2.5 hr bus ride away. If I wasn't such a huge Spinal Tap fan I wouldn't have bothered.

  6. Then both of our wives are in agreement about each of us. I just wish the front of me was as flat. At least I have built in insulation I guess.

  7. I have no intention of any physical contact with any one. My body is to old and brittle to consider that. I am also to old to run so I will have limited options so shooting bad guy is the one that comes to mind............jmho

  8. Remember, he will just shoot you instead of screwing around with punching. And he has enough ammo saved up to just keep shooting.

  12. Those uppers were just coming out when I sold mine, 1yr LT is ridiculous, I bet with a stick mag it would look similar to a MP40.. one thing going with that upper it gets the bolt further away from your face = less smoke in your face!!! I see sabre uppers pop up on sturm every once in a while might want to keep a eye out for those..

  13. yea, the police said it could have come from any direction from 1 to 2 miles away at shot into the air in celebration. Only an idiot does that but then there are few of those out there, especially when alcohol is involved...........JMHO

  16. I am certainly in agreement with you here, but it would help matters if the government didn't try to market it as a justice system.

  18. No. The system is bias towards the poor and the working class that thinks justice will be done when they go to court. The working class can hire an attorney. The poor can’t; they get a public defender. Poor or middle class though your outcome is not necessarily determined by your guilt or innocence; it is determined by the deal your attorney can make, who he knows, or how he handles the case at trial. I’ve seen plenty of people go to prison because they couldn’t afford a good defense. I’ve also seen the guilty walk because they had a good attorney. I’ve also seen people charged because they listened to their attorney (who was not there) telling them not to talk to the Police. We don’t have a justice system, we have a legal system and if you are going to get off the porch you better be able to run with the big dogs.

  19. When you're wrong, you're wrong... I bought my first M&P back when Smith and Wesson introduced them in 2005. It was my M&P 40 and I still have it. I was shopping for a Glock 23 when the S&W rep who was visiting Guns & Leather handed me one and asked if I had considered their new plastic-fantastic. I left with not only it but also an M&P 40 compact, and soon after added an M&P 9 compact, an M&P 9 full size, an M&P 9 Julie Goloski edition for my wife, an M&P 45 Mid-Size, and an M&P Shield 9mm. To say that I have had my share of M&Ps is maybe a slight understatement and I definitely wouldn't consider myself a Johnny Come Lately to the ownership circle given the timeline. For at least 6-8 years, my M&P 40 was my every day carry but it was eventually replaced with a Glock 19 for reasons that most of us have probably given at one point or another. "For the sake of change" is probably the most honest answer I can give anyone, but I had an assortment of other reasons waiting in the wings if I was pressed on it. Besides, the Glock 19 is arguably a very reliable and functional gun. But so is my M&P 40. Fast forward to late 2016 and the new M&P M2.0 was announced by Smith and Wesson. I admit it. I yawned. I scoffed. I publicly stated that I saw little about it that would motivate me to go back to an M&P 9mm after having had a relatively bad experience with the full-size M&P 9 that I had owned before. I was wrong. Last weekend I had the chance to shoot one. It felt better in the hand thanks to the aggressive stippling that S&W has applied to the frame and palm swells. The beaver tail was gone and suddenly it was even closer in length to my Glock 19 than the previous offerings and it felt better riding inside of my TT Gunleather inside the waistband holster without the frame protrusion digging into my chiseled, well-muscled midsection. The frame was less "flexy" at the front of the slide thanks to the change in design that extended the metal skeleton all the way forward. The front cocking serrations weren't all that big of a deal, but they weren't ridiculously ineffective either. They didn't sway me either way, but they did add a bit of flair to the expanse of boring metal forward of the ejection slot. But the trigger. Damn them, the trigger was better than I anticipated. It was smooth and clean right up to an abrupt wall, then it broke crisply and without grit. The reset was firm, tactile and audible, and the reset travel was maybe 3/16 of an inch from the terminus to reset, measured at the bottom tip of the trigger itself. The reset still isn't as forceful as a Glock 19 with OEM connector and trigger return spring, but it is right on par with the feel of a reset from a Sig P320. It honestly feels better than any Apex'd M&P that I have owned or fired. So what does a guy do when he's as wrong about a firearm as I was? Yep.

  20. So you acknowledge that the system is biased against the working class?

  21. A little searching revealed he is a Chicago native. Also his ruling doesn't apply to throughout he is just a state trial judge in one county. I'm sure they will take it up the chain and he will be told to sit down.

  23. Sounds about right for me too. I like the PMR30, but my favorite is K22 that I got from my Dad. He was trading and got it to sell, but I had a great fit over it and he tried to give it to me. I finally had to tell him that my father-in-law was buying it. I don't think he ever knew different on it. And if you're wondering why I wouldn't accept it as a gift from him, here's why. He was not working at that time and a few extra bucks was good for him.

  24. We did all the tops in our house when we built 10 or so years ago. They worked out nicely although it was a lot of work. We pre-cast them rather than doing the pour in place. Granite has gotten a lot cheaper these days, so I'm not sure we would do it again. But it's kinda like building you're own gun, you have something special to be proud of afterward.

  25. You make wonderful points, but as a coworker of mine pointed out recently while we were discussing this incident. He rightful said you can't win the roadside fight but the public increasingly can't win in court either. Criminal jury conviction rates these days are near above 90% in all cases. Bench trial conviction rates are even higher.

  26. Red dot sights are neat and all, but I can't see having one on a carry gun. I've been shooting one competitively for a month and a half or so, and have mixed feelings about them. I found out the hard way this weekend what happens when you step out of a cool environment and into a hot, humid one. BAM! The sight fogs up. Not cool if you really needed it and co-witnessed iron sights, which I've never understood anyway, would also be useless. I hope once I really get used to the gun, they will be faster, but I'm not yet fully convinced. Indexing the gun by muscle memory is even more crucial than with an iron-sighted gun and if your the type to carry different platforms, it won't happen.
