  1. ...and a sincere thank you to everyone who has served, or is serving in our military, and help to keep our independence.

  2. Happy 4th! Smoked and grilled a dozen boneless chicken breasts then vacuum sealed them for future use, then grilled some burgers for immediate consumption. Ready for some fireworks and then a cigar later this evening!

  3. You might want to read up on why bottled water is not supposed to be used after one year. The bottles themselves start breaking down (even faster for the thinner "green" bottles and any exposed to much direct sunlight) and you end up drinking the bad for you particulates. Not saying I wouldn't drink it if I had nothing else, but it's easy enough to rotate out cases of water as you use them. I generally keep 8-10 cases on hand, but I also go through at least a case every few days when I'm working outside.

  4. I hope everyone has a good day today with friends and family. We all know this but Independence day and Veterans day both teach us that freedom is not free. I just wish many more people would embrace this fact of life. My wife and I are having fried crappie with corn, steak fries, slaw and hush puppies with our closest and dearest friends. I hope others are doing something similar.

  6. I think it's ironic that we can buy smokes and booze in other states and bring them right back home, but can't do the same with the OTHER things that the BATFE regulates. "Freedom"

  7. I found these guys with the simple Google search "best left hand aiwb holster for CZ75B" They got a hit, hand some youtube and written reviews, located one state over, great stated warranty and I liked their story. For $40 I was willing to give them a shot. Being left handed, it's hard to flip a holster for a not so common handgun, so price point is important to me. Bought their Original Full Size, I dislike tuckable holsters. This ultimately was a bonus as my future P01 fit as well. This holster has seen use under most conditions I'll ever be in...yard work, house work, hands and knees work over 14 hours laying carpet, other commercial flooring projects, training classes and concealed carry. Never been in a tussle where someone was going for my holstered weapon, so can't comment. I can say I have NEVER been concerned with weapon retention. The handgun is retained to the holster by a band of elastic, the entire rig by a single clip and friction. Having sweated into this holster for many years, it doesn't smell like old socks or a locker room and it has NEVER sweated through to my handgun. The full sweat shield helps disperse (?) the weight of the handgun over a larger area, so it doesn't shift and sag. It also takes a little practice getting a good grip when drawing. Re-holstering with a hammer fired gun is safe for me, thumb on hammer. The Original does not have a reinforced throat. Advertised as comfortable, true claim, specifically if you're 5'9", 165 x 33"-34" waistline and carry at the 10-11 position. The obvious wear is the elastic band has stretched and the gun sits 1/2" lower in the holster. Other than routine wear marks, it is still 100% serviceable. No noted separation of the layers, not one loose or unraveled thread, clip is still clippy. It also appears this holster is easy on the handgun's finish. CZ's polycoat is not known to be especially robust; I do not see additional wear marks on the leading edges of my gun.

  10. One of the guys who shows as unpaid is the same guy who just stopped returning messages and texts after agreeing to buy a gun in the classifieds. I wouldn't hold up the order waiting for him.

  12. A little searching revealed he is a Chicago native. Also his ruling doesn't apply to throughout he is just a state trial judge in one county. I'm sure they will take it up the chain and he will be told to sit down.

  15. Never heard of anyone have that happen; so we are all guessing. Were they inked or digitally scanned? I would try to contact Lisa Knight first, she has been very helpful to others here with issues. HCP Program Director, Lisa Knight (615) 251-8590

  17. Well I bit the bullet and got the Geisselle SSA trigger from PSA. They were running a special on them for $189. I can't wait to install it on my rifle. Thanks to everyone for their help. Happy 4th everybody

  18. Yep, that's what I had. Store brand gallon water jugs. After 2 years, when I moved, around 80% of them had partially or completely leaked out. Prettt dang high failure rate IMO. None of my cases of water bottles had though. Cases of water bottles have a lot of wasted container. I haven't done this yet, but best option I have found is 2-3 cases of water bottles and some heavier duty containers made specifically for storing water long term. I know some of the survival websites have them for sale, much like the water bricks posted above. And a Big Berkey water filter system.

  19. Start here, not high end stuff, yes you'll have to most likely fit some parts but about as cheap as you can get, most parts seem to be rock island Armory from the Philippines. http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/1911gi.aspx

  22. Great match, as always! It's funny - after shooting Stage 4 I spent a fair amount of time telling Ryan how much my 1.5x scope slowed me down, and how it just felt like I spent forever hunting for targets and getting lost in the scope. I guess I was wrong - Or maybe it was the surprise "rifle prep" Alan did to my rifle just seconds before I shot. It's a little unorthodox, but it must involve magic dust or something. You'll have to ask him about it in person, as I think it would break several forum rules if I posted it here. ;-)

  23. I had some reservations about seeing it. DC hasn't done too well with their movies. But after reading a number of good reviews on gun boards (real people, not film critics) my GF and I decided to give it a chance. We liked it! Being a child of the 50s, I grew up on comic books and the old "B" monster movies. I still love that stuff. Looks like DC is finally gettin' their act together. Another interesting fact about Gal Gadot, she's from Israel. Like any good Israeli, she served in the IDF. Word is that she knows her stuff and is very pro-gun.

  24. Hope so! It wouldn't surprise me if you get it by Christmas. Was in a store picking up my sandman L last week and they mentioned the ATF is still getting 5,000 approvals sent a month....not sure how true that is, but it certainly will get approved faster than anyone who submitted in 2016.
