Capital police were at the scene when it started and immediately began returning fire. Without them we'd probably be talking deaths instead of injuries and it goes to show how only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with at gun.9 points

Not surprised really, with all the hate speech pouring from the Liberal world and Hollywood. Prayers to the families.6 points

I don't blame any of our elected officials on either side of the isle for packing heat with their job. What I do have an issue with is they don't want us to have that same priviledge in many instances and work so hard to try and deny us what they feel they should have. I am glad that the only one killed was the bad guy and Thank GOD for those brave Capitol Police officers for their action even after both being wounded by the bad guy...........5 points

I hadn't heard about Adam West's death until I saw this thread, just now. I was born in 1971 so when I watched the show as a kid it was reruns. I also don't think I realized how silly it was at the time - I just knew that there was a show about comic book characters so I loved it. Plus Yvonne Craig in that Batgirl costume was probably one of the first women I 'noticed' - even though I might not have fully realized what it was I was noticing at the time (the various actresses playing Catwoman never caught my attention the way Batgirl did but then I was always a Mary Anne guy over Ginger.) In more recent years, as I lived next door to my mom, I would often hang out with her on Saturday evenings just to spend time with her. There wasn't much on television at that time so we would often watch the old shows on MeTV, including Batman. We realized it was campy and, honestly, pretty stupid sometimes - my mom would even comment on how stupid it was - but we usually watched it, anyway. I particularly remember watching it when I was staying at her house, largely bedridden (in a small bed she kept in her den where the television was) while recovering after the surgeries when my colon ruptured and I found out I had cancer. The silliness and memories of childish thoughts that comic book heroes could be 'real' were a help during that rough time - and so was mom who had to pretty much take care of me, at least for the first week or so. Many of you know that mom passed away on March 31 from brain cancer and her house burned down a few weeks later due to a power surge. So Adam West and his stupid, campy, beautiful television show filled my childhood with dreams of heroes, lifted my spirits during one of the most trying times in my life and helped me create memories of my mom in a house I lived in as a child and which, now, no longer exists. I don't think I realized until just now how much all those 'BOFFs' and 'POWs' really meant to me.5 points

Four dead including the shooter in a UPS workplace shooting today. How was that shooting and the above shooting stopped? Glad you asked. By good guys with guns. (The UPS shooter killed himself when confronted by Police) The only way to stop an active shooter is with another active shooter.4 points

I'm afraid this may very well be a "watershed moment". Never have so many Congressmen all been simultaneously involved in a mass shooting. All who are of the party that is supposedly on the side of gun owners. As Rand Paul is quoted "we were like sitting ducks". And they were. I doubt they will be very willing to ever feel that again and may just start empathizing with those who have or might.4 points

I hope that if anything good comes from this, that it will be these politicians will think long and hard before sending our youth into some useless battle on the other side of the world. It ain't much fun when the rabbit's got the gun.4 points

Even though this is the second instance of violence perpetrated by fan of Bernie Sanders over the last few weeks I will maintain a bit of ideological consistency. The only one responsible for the happenings today is the person who committed them. No public figure, no matter how aggressive their rhetoric, is responsible for the actions of this man. He and he alone is responsible for what he did.4 points

The guy had an Illinios drivers license, which means he also had to have a FOID card to get that gun, and probably the ammo. This thing is up to its ass in common sense gun control. Once again, it must have been the NRA.3 points

The whole thing is just a damn shame and proves that anyone can be a violent jackass. In many parts of our country there no longer is any "polite society". This is a direct result of "social media". People can say things on line that they would never say in person because they are cowards. Every time I post here and the few other forums that I frequent I think about my words. If I wouldn't say it to your face I won't type it and hide behind a keyboard. When Trump called Islamic terrorists losers he was close. They are cowards. This guy was a coward too.2 points

This is my ODT Original Dog Tag Flipper, custom built for me by my friend Dave Curtiss, I love the little guy and when wearing 501 jeans or any jeans with a small watch pocket, this little guy has a home. I was fortunate enough to go to Blade show this year and while visiting Dave Curtiss at his booth, a gentleman Brian Lucas was handing Dave a bag of these Kydex things that he built. They are Kydex holsters that he built especially for the ODT flipper I just rode several miles on my Harley with the little guy clipped onto my front belt loop of my pants, it is secured in there so well I never worry about it I love this knife and carrying it this way frees up my pocket for one of its big brothers so I always have 2 knifes on me1 point

Last Wednesday (6/7) at 10:30am I picked up my new car. Pretty much fell in love with it as soon as I drove it. I have long been a fan of the Infiniti brand, Ive had 3 others, my wife currently drives a 2017 QX60. Heres My new Infinity Q70S, drove away with it @ 12 miles on the odo. Brought it home, clay bared it, sealed the paint, and waxed it.. Then, Friday happens... 7:20AM sitting in stopped traffic at Mallory & McEwen in Franklin, the kid behind me decided he wanted to just go...go... despite the fact that no one else anywhere around him was sitting still... $11k to fix, It was the first accident Ive been in where I felt I actually needed to go to the hospital, maybe Im getting old, maybe not, My neck and back still hurt... The car isnt totaled, but damn...238miles on the odometer at the time... Just a little rant....sorry1 point

"When someone starts shooting; they shoot them until they stop." That is exactly what those 2 Capitol Police officers did this morning even after being wounded themselves. My hat off to both of them for not stopping till the threat was ended..........1 point

To say that the liberals have been extreme in their rhetoric since November is putting it mildly. Here's an article that gives am excellent sample of those freaks in Hollywood: http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2017/06/14/15-times-celebrities-envisioned-violence-against-trump-and-the-gop/ I can't help but think they are intentionally inciting their fans. Either that or their just plain stupid.1 point

I don't believe it is GODS will that anyone lives forever. Back in Biblical times people lived well over 100 years but if people lived that long now the earth would be very very over populated and the earth would not be able to feed and support that kind of population. I still believe that GOD has a plan and I never doubt him and what his plan is but accept what I cannot change in my life as his will....................JMHO1 point

It is my understanding that, biologically, the reason we die of 'old age' basically comes down to oxidation. If oxygen weren't necessary for metabolism we might live forever (barring other fatal conditions or injuries) - so all that darned breathing is slowly killing us. Of course, attempting to stop all that darned breathing would only hurry us along all that much faster.1 point

I dunno. I'd like to hope that most of them are smart enough to realize it would be political suicide. Then again, getting shot could definitely change ones opinion I suppose. What's more concerning is just how divided we are. I'm seeing comments online from people who are happy this happened or saying Republicans brought this on themselves.1 point

I think a perdon's heart rate has a lot to do with it. The average person's heart beats 2.2 billion times in their life. If a person is overweight or in poor physical condition or have some other stressor in their life then their heart beats faster. And, I believe, that is the key factor in dying of "old age". My resting heart rate, according to my FitBit, is 57 bpm but I can also meditate it down to below 45. I try to do calming/breathing exercises as often as possible and have been doing them for several years now. I also try to be as sedentary as possible when possible. Hopefully it helps but who knows. I have also read that another factor in how long you will live is how much you eat. There is a lot of data that suggests that if you eat as little as possible you will live longer versus eating more. And I am not talking about over eating but eating more than a starvation diet.1 point

Couple of issues with your scholarly research. First, both federalist papers 29 and 46 were written before the Bill of Rights was written. Federalist 29 being published on Jan 9th 1788, and 46 being published on Jan 29th of the same year. The Bill of Rights was published on Sept 25th, 1789, 18+ months later. Second, the Bill of Rights, which includes the 2nd Amendment, was written in direct response to concerns expressed by the Anti-Federalists, I'd encourage you to read Brutus No X written as a response by the Anti-Federalists to Federallist No 29. - http://www.constitution.org/afp/brutus10.htm Third, I'd also read Federalist No 84, in which Hamilton worries that future generations will do exactly what you're doing with the Bill of Rights, which is to say you see some power to regulate when no power exists at all. Fourth, I'd also look to the often forgotten 10th Amendment, which states: The 2nd Amendment is a right of 'the people' and therefore neither the States, nor the Federal government should be able to infringe upon the right in any way shape or form.1 point

I also had an issue with my rounds tending to drift let of center but only a few inches. First shot was normally dead on and as I continued to go through the magazine I for some reason seemed to always drift a little left but only a few inches by the time mag was empty. Finally a buddy of mine went to the range with me one day. He taught classes on hand gun safety and HCP classes. He just stood back and watched me for about 3 magazines and finally stepped up and gave me his assessment. He said that as he watched me I was softening up my grip which was allowing the gun to pull off to the left just slightly. He went out to his truck and came back in a with a lemon squeezer 45 and had 3 mags loaded for it. He said shoot this gun because it requires you to grip the gun firmly or it won't fire. We made three more trips to the range over the next month and each time my shooting improved with both my Bersa Thunder and my Bersa Model 85 until I was about 95 tp 98% dead on with both guns at 10 to 12 yards and about 90% at 15 yards. I know that is not perfect but with my vision beginning to fade a little back then I felt far more comfortable than I once did. Just that little tweaking made a bunch of difference in my confidence level. I am looking forward to when I get my eyes fixed so I can again enjoy the range. I did go about a week ago and burn up about 5 mags and I am still good to go up to 15 yards if it came down to defending myself wearing my glasses. Just thought I would share what I have learned about problem I was having...................1 point

I agree with this. The only caution I will add is do not make a change simply for the sake of change itself. TGO David had a focused reason for making the change. If you have a setup that works for you don't mess with it unnecessarily, the time will be better spent on drills. That considered, I have loved my Sigs for many years, I have a first gen P229 that still runs like a train and is in its second barrel. I did have an issue with the DA/SA transition that I was unhappy with. I had never shot Glocks (Gen 1) well at all, I never made the commitment to try. Years went by and I hadn't bought a new pistol in YEARS (Thanks NY). A move to the great state of TN and I was determined to cure my gap between the first and second shots. Many new striker guns are on the market, and I gave a P320 a try and I simply shoot it better than anything but a govt model. I used to dislike striker guns, but they have come a long way since the gen 1 glock...1 point
