The run and hide thing is not for everybody. Some can't run nor hide. I really think every sheriff should be like this guy. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/06/09/sheriff-be-armed-be-mentally-prepared-make-terrorists-defend-their-lives-for-a-change/5 points

For those of you that are SKS fans I picked up a nice one this week. I've been looking at this in a shop in Arkansas for almost 2 years. It had a 30rd mag and a jacked up receiver cover with a bubba'd scope mount. What caught my eye was the laminate stock...China did not make many and this is a beauty. Long story short, I had cash and they priced it for less than I was going to offer. I said I'll take it as long as we can swap the aftermarket parts for factory parts from you other SKSs. They had a bunch of bubba mis-matches so it did not affect any matching numbered guns. The laminate is fine grained and tight. This was a good trip. I found tins of 7.62x54r for 125.50 out the door. .22LR 525rd Federal for $23 and .22mag ammo for $12 a box. Here she is on the right next to my other para rescue.4 points

So being the self sufficient (cheap) SOB I am, I have an older Ruger carbine rifle I picked up. I cast and reload for my Ruger SBH, however I load it on the lite side. The lite loads wont cycle the action and I have read that unjacked lead will foul the gas action on the rifle. So I swagged me some jacked bullets. Took some 40 S&W brass, annealed it so it is soft, stuffed in a 180 gr lead I cast for my pistols, mashed it into a 280 sizing die, put on a cannelure, and loaded up some hot rounds. They cycle the rifle great, no sign of over pressure and hit where I aim. Shot a few from my pistol at night, nice fire ball. LOL The bullets came out at 255 gr and just over .430, I did run them through a .430 size die.1 point

I was around 12 when Batman swooped in on the tv. I spent many a half hour watching the really bad acting and listening to corny dialog. I'd like to say that even back then I knew how bad it was, but I watched anyway. Sometimes just to make my Dad a little angry with it. Yep...I was a nasty little brat back then too. He' always just ask how I could waste time watching such trash and sit and shake his head at it and me. Yes, good memories of those days. Thanks for those good times Mr. West.1 point

These guys like him are real actors. Before stunt doubles and cgi. They just had to make it happen. Sad to see him go.1 point

"It's when we got into the occupation business in Afghanistan and Iraq that people found themselves divided, and that's fair I think." I do agree with you 100% on this. I have never agreed with either one of those at all. I was all for going to Afghanistan and getting Al Quada but was not in favor of occupying the Country. I don't think we had a fight with the Taliban because I think Bin Laden and Al Quada were long gone from that country even before we put a force together to go after them. We should have used our Intelligence Agencies to find out where Bin Laden and his group went and focused on that. Our Intel has never been good regarding Al Quada going back to the Clinton Presidency. Shortly after the bombing of the World Trade center in 1993 our Intel told Clinton where Bin Laden was and Clinton had some missiles fired at him but when the strike site was inspected they learned that they had blown up a vacated Al Quada training center that had been empty at least a month. I don't even think Bin Laden was even in Afganistan when the planes hit the towers but had already vacated all of Al Quada from that country before the attacks knowing we would be coming for him. As far as Iraq. Biggest blunder by our government in recent history. Should have never been there period. All that did was destablize the entire region by removing Saddam Hussein from power. .................JMHO1 point

I had the opportunity to compare the C308 to the PTR at Bud's. If I was going this direction, PTR. Will also mention for a 5'9" guy, the charging handle position not user friendly1 point

Simple enough concept...if anything happens, you have responsibility for your own safety and security until help arrives. It's the norm for those on this site, but a very outside of the box line of thinking for the population at large. Also like how the Sheriff mentioned being trained, as well as alternates to a gun if you just aren't comfortable with it. I think the actual threat level generates the response. Americans stood up after 9/11 because there was a threat out there in the Al-Qaeda network that hit us as hard as they did. So, we were united in our response and resolve to attack them and knock down their ability to attack America like that again. It's when we got into the occupation business in Afghanistan and Iraq that people found themselves divided, and that's fair I think. Today we do have terrorism, but the threat does not rise to a level where national unity is natural response. And there is the legitimate question of how do we prevent the alienation of the non-extremist Islam when being watchful to the extremist version. That's a political question, but I'm not going to sacrifice anyones rights just because they happen to be the same ethnicity or religion (with conflicting beliefs) as the attacker.1 point

Back on December 7th 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor when the Japanese fleet turned and headed back to Japan the question was put to the Japanese Admiral Of we have an advantage so why are we not attacking the American Home Land. The Admiral turned and looked at the man asking the question and he replied , " Because we will be defeated because behind every blade of Grass is an American with a gun." That Japanese Admiral knew of the willingness of the American people to fight for the land they loved. He followed that stament up with another which was, "I fear that all we have done is awakened a Sleeping Giant and nothing more." I often wonder after looking at America and the politics of today just how many Americans still have that burning deep down feeling to fight for America as we once did. I wonder what would happen if an all out war between the Islamic Terrorists already in America broke out just how many of our young people would actually take up a (sword) weapon and actually fight for America. Many seem ready and willing to fight amongs ourselves over political issues and actually attack other Americans but would they be willing to fight for America? Have our children been to brain washed with Policitical Correctness to fight for America? I think these questions stand unanswered and probaly will till something big happens. Back On 9/11/2001 I did see a country come together and be united as 1 and I was proud. Shortly after the attack on the World Trade Centers The Muslims actually tried to build a Mosque on the site of the worse attack on American Soil but the American people stood up and it was defeated. Would the American people still do that today? Or has polictical Correctness made most of them back down? JMHO's1 point

I believe my next setup will be a G19 MOS with Shield RMS red dot. The included low profile mount allows cowitness with the stock iron sights (suppressor sights not required) and the side battery tray allows it to be swapped without removing the sight.1 point

I'm wondering if the black stage coach character, maybe named Mary don't remember, on the Hell On Wheels series was sparked by this real real life person? Well, I just googled it and it was. That show was pretty good and though completely fiction, did base many of the characters and backstory on real life history.1 point

My thinking is, for range time, anything goes, do what you want. But seriously, in a CQ life or death situation, does one consider sight acquisition? Seems practicing one hand point/shoot drills makes more sense to me. Enlighten me. I've only had to present my weapon once, just to low ready, and dude ran off.1 point
