  1. My great grand dad. I don't have a clue what the guns are.

  2. A few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to upgrade to a newer version of the Raven Concealment Phantom holster that I have had for my Glock 19 for about ten years or so. I almost pulled the trigger (no pun intended) on one from RCS when I saw a promotion that Bravo Concealment was doing on their holsters, and opted to try them out instead. I am glad I did. This thing is legitimately as good as any of my RCS Phantoms and was half the cost.

  6. I lost that battle with a Carcano 6.5 Ital that I bought mail order for $19.99 in 1964. It's been down hill since.

  7. I tried it. For me the issues were: Seemed harder to aquire the dot than irons, this was a training issue for sure. I seemed to want the dot perfect before firing, again training issue and to many years of bullseye using a dot. Lighting issues, shooting from a dark area into a bright one or vice versa caused the dot to be too bright and flare, or be dim and very hard to find quickly. Size and keeping it clean enough to not have lots of extra stuff on the lense. I'm interested, but not quite to the point of needing it yet. Tiijicon HD, and Truglo TFX Pro sights are my choice now. Maybe some day the dot will get me, but not quite yet. Like anything training will be the key. Good luck, and p,ease keep us updated

  8. I really like mine, it's the Trijicon Rmo 1 3.25. I put suppressor sights on as well. The only thing I don't like is that it does not sit flush on the sides of the slide, you have to buy the thin seal plate so the rubber seal doesn't hang over the side, you don't have to have this but it drove me nuts being able to see the seal. I did have to send it back once but have not had any trouble since. I believe it's like anything else, with plenty of practice you can get pretty good with it. You are more than welcome to try mine out. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

  9. I love shooting my two Glock MOS pistols (34 and 41). My issue with the RDS is acquiring the dot from the draw is slower than irons, but it is mostly muscle memory as the RDS sits higher. I need to spend more time drawing, the front of the pistol is typically high and I have to bring it down to acquire the dot, but I switch between irons/dot frequently. Accuracy vs Speed - from what I have seen shooting irons vs optic in competition and watching others, the RDS is typically more accurate but not necessarily any faster when transitioning targets.

  10. I'm not sure if I disagree with that or not. I found with aging eyesight the red dots worked well for me. Shooting with both eyes open was a big learning curve but while living in Tucson all I had was time to practice....most times 4 or 5 times a week. At any rate I've become used to shooting with them now and ain't bad for an old man. I'm confident with them and I guess it's all I can hope for.

  11. Everything I have read, and I have done a lot of reading on the subject as I am very interested in this concept, is that if you are an accomplished marksman with irons, the RMR will give you an advantage. But if you aren't on that level with irons, you will be slower with a RMR than with irons.

  14. I keep finding neat old photos that have guns in them so thought I would start a thread. Feel free to add info on the type gun or vintage. Even suggested captions but keep them non political and clean so the tread doesn't get shut down. Here is one to start it off.

  15. Greetings all, its been awhile since I've been on, but I wanted to show off my new carry rig done in Cognac Caiman and black leather. Just wanted something for those special occasions, lol.

  16. I am going to kick off a job behind the scenes tonight that will rebuild our Search Index. This process takes a few hours and during that time searching will be limited as will the ability to easily show new threads. It should be done by morning. I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is needed in order to clean up some of the mess left behind by removing the Classifieds software.

  17. Stopped by Maryville Walmart tonight to grab a couple things from hardware. Decided to stroll over to the ammo section... Had probably 50 boxes of .22 (50 rnd boxes). CCI Standard, quiet and high velocity. They had 4 1k rnd boxes earlier today he said. Best news was he was told they should be able to keep this Walmart supplied regularly and 3 box limit has been removed.

  21. This is cool....it's a dagger with a removable handle...remove the handle and screw in any standard threaded mop/broom handle and you've got a solid spear. Regular 24.99 in the bargain bin for 8.99. I got two. Just could not resist myself.

  22. This is the first year for me gardening down here. Put in a 25x40 garden out at the farm, and have been trying out a lot of new things. The Quinoa got blown over in the windstorms we had a few weeks ago. Didn't root very deep, were very tall plants (6-7'!), but the rootball was only the size of a baseball. Might have been my soil, dunno, first time I tried growing it. A few survived, so will take those for seed and try again! Harvested a bunch of fingerling potatoes! Will be able to get 2 crops of those in per year I imagine. Started them in April, taking them out now in June as the tops have all died off. The Red 'taters I started about the same time are still growing and looking strong. Corns coming up, squash are going bananas, and my peanuts have flowers! Cotton doesn't seem happy, but my canteloupes and melon's are going gangbusters! - K

  23. Speaking only of my own experience shooting 3-gun Open division with a dot-sighted pistol, your mileage may vary: The handgun dot sight excels at hitting small (or distant) targets fast. Things like TX stars, 4" plates, and distant steel transformed from painful to routine. For full-size targets up close, even after a lot of practice with the dot, I was never any faster than irons, and often a touch slower because of height-over-bore and muscle memory shooting irons. And that's almost certainly the kind of shooting I'll need to do if (God forbid) I end up pulling the trigger for keeps on the street. So in summary, for me, for a carry gun, the RDS isn't worth it. Now, as the tech improves, the sights get even more bulletproof, weather/foreign object resistant, and maybe we start to see things like integral RDS, where the battery, electronics, and wind age/elevation adjustments are built into the slide, and only the sight window sticks up, and that dot starts to appear right where the front sight used to be.... that might mean a whole new ball game.

  24. Vortex Venom on the 34 and Burris D3 on the 41. The 34 MOS does not have co-witness irons on it. I left the stock sights, but intend to remove the rear sight as the optic actually has a white bar that "replaces" the rear sight. Even though not co-witness I can make it work if the optic fails while shooting a stage. The 41 has Dawson Precision sights and co-witness fine. I don't recall offhand what front height I went with, but basically used calipers to measure. If anyone goes the RDS route, just be prepared to practice a lot as acquiring the sight picture is different. I don't have one milled, but suspect a milled slide would be the better choice to lower the dot and make it slightly more natural to acquire from draw.

  25. I'm a city kid. Never been hunting in my life. Just not part of my upbringing. Consequently, my intro to guns was in the military and then the tactical/EBR era. Well, I've been thinking about getting a bolt action rifle for a minute and @robtattoo's for sale thread on that custom 280AI was the catalyst for me to get off my duff and get to it. (I came very close to getting it, but that weirdo caliber scared me off.) So after a little research I bought myself a Montana Rifle Company ASR in 308. It's got the absolute best trigger I have ever felt. It doesn't feel like it moves. It just breaks at 3#. It's nuts. The bolt design of the Model 1999 is a mixture of the Model 70 and the Mauser. She's a beautiful piece of work. I'm getting a killer discount on the optic from a friend of mine, but it's going to take a few weeks for that to come in. It's going to get a Nightforce NSX 3.5-15x50 MILR. My intent is to build a rifle that will forever be able to exceed my abilities. Here is the link to image gallery.

  39. For those of y'all complimenting dude on keeping his cool, I think what really happened here got missed. I spent over a dozen years working with the public in customer service. That dude has just been in the service industry long enough to have beat down by it that he just didn't care if he got shot. That's what working with the public in the service sector does to you. He didn't have nerves of steel, he just had zero ####s.
