  6. Newest addition to the WW2 collection, seen here with other German friends. The VIS 35 was a product of soured relations between FN and the Polish government. Poland was buying FN produced BAR rifles, and FN was struggling to deliver the goods in expected quantities and time frames. The decision to adopt the FN produced Hipower had already been decided by this point; however, the unreliable service thus far steered the country another direction. Poland turned to their Radom factory, deciding to manufacture the hipower themselves. The result is a pistol that functions internally like a Hipower yet resembles more of a 1911 style of JMB designed firearm. It has a single stack 8 round magazine, a slide stop lever, disassembly lever, and a decocker. The decocking feature was pushed heavily by the Polish cavalry. It has no functional safety other than the grip safety. The Radom factory was captured by the Germans when they invaded Poland. They decided this was a good design and continued production at Radom under the supervision of Steyr. Despite the various inspection stamps and processes, the Germans neglected to consider guns being copied, i.e. identical serial numbers, and about one pistol was duplicated per day and smuggled out of the plant until it was finally discovered. 100 employees were rounded up with 50 being hanged on site and the rest sent to concentration camps. 11. I put together another AR a couple weeks ago. This is my first build using the Aero Precision enhanced upper. I wasn't sure what to think about the enhanced upper when I first started seeing them online. Thought it was some fad and not useful. I really do like it and the way the picatinny slots on the upper receiver continue seamlessly without the big lug between it and the rail. Not that I'll mount anything in that location but I like the clean look. Aero Precision lower, Troy BUIS, Geissele super gas block, Anderson 16" barrel, ALG QMS trigger, Magpul MOE stock and MOE+Grip, BCM Large charging handle (not pictured) and standard A2 flash hider until I get a Surefire comp for it. Turned out very nice for a semi budget rifle.

  18. I thought I'd give this thread a bump because I just had Steve sharpen my Protech. He put an edge on it that is better than it came from the factory. Turnaround time was as fast as one could possibly expect. It was in the mail longer than Steve had it. I was amazed at how quickly it came back. If anyone has a blade in need of some TLC then @willis68 is your guy.

  25. Good eye. Not my numbers, just a random site I found on Google. I've seen similar ones before. The point was that .223/5.56 velocity is sensitive to barrel length. Most are, of course, but this one more than some others. I think you made the same point a few years back and that it was one reason why you liked AK pistols better than AR pistols because the 7.62x39 doesn't lose as much percentage of its velocity in shorter barrels. Do I recall that correctly?

  26. From time to time Boker has some really good deals on sale, clearance or discontinued items on their website. I think this is one of those deals. It is the Real Steel Bushcraft knife. As you may or may not know, Real Steel makes some knives for Boker with the Boker brand and, obviously, Boker also sells some knives with the Real Steel name. In fact, I think that at one time this knife may have also been sold as the 'Boker Bushcraft' knife. The current version of the Boker Bushcraft, called the Bushcraft Next Generation knife looks a little different but still similar enough to lead me to believe that it is also made by Real Steel. It is listed on Amazon for around $79 and on the Boker site at $99.95. I think Real Steel may also, now, have a Bushcraft II and the ones I have seen on the 'Tube have more of a tan/coyote color to the scales and sheath rather than black so this might be a 'last generation' knife for the Real Steel brand, too. Honestly on this knife I prefer the black, anyway. Real Steel is a Chinese company so if that bothers you then this may not be a deal for you. I couldn't care less as long as I get a quality knife. I have actually been considering this knife for some time and have almost pulled the trigger on ordering one at the regular price on more than one occasion but never quite followed through - and now I am glad I waited. I was considering it even at normal price based on YouTube reviews on channels I trust where the knife generally received very high marks. I also think it is a nice looking knife. I like carrying a fixed blade on my belt when not at work or another location that might prevent doing so and I have been wanting to get a 'non-tactical' looking knife with a kydex sheath so that I can carry it horizontal in a cross draw setup or scout carry as I already have things I prefer to carry on my right side. This thing is made with D2 steel - which, from my recent purchase of a D2 version of a RAT 1 folder I have learned that I really like. The Boker Buschcraft Next Generation - the one listed on the Boker site for $99.95 is 440C. I would much rather have D2, personally. It also has G10 scales and red liners (the Next Generation has micarta scales so comparable materials there.) Now for the kicker - the original price of the Real Steel Bushcraft was $69.95 which probably isn't bad, at all, considering the materials used and so on. Right now, though, Boker has them on their website for $24.99. It can be difficult to find a decent, 8CR13MOV folder for that price! I ordered two and with shipping and all the final tally came to $56.93 which is still $13 less than the original list price on one! I am pretty psyched to get these and try them out. 30. I have been on a tear as of late! I pulled my dream rifle out of layaway in February and I am almost complete with the build. The last piece of the puzzle will be ordered next week. Which is a Knight's Armament Company 762 CQB QDC suppressor in FDE. Knight's Armament Company (KAC) SR-25 EMC - Leupold Optics Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS H27D - BT10-LW17 V8 Atlas Bipod - Magpul ACS-L Stock - Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 Grip I went to the Outpost Armory last month to purchase a bipod for my rifle and I walked out with a Romanian SAR-3 instead. Last September, I got the itch to purchase a FAL. I scratched that itch by purchasing an Imbel parts kit + Imbel gear logo receiver. I sent my parts in January to Mark to Arizona Response systems to assemble and refinish my rifle. I received my FAL back from Mark at Arizona Response Systems after patiently waiting nearly 6 months. To say that I am pleased is a gross understatement. His work is first rate and worth every penny. Capitol Armory squared me away on a Surefire SOCOM RC2 5.56 suppressor

  36. NOW is the time to buy, buy, buy. Buy guns. Buy ammo. Buy suppressors! Buy cheap, stack them deep. Anyone who comes back in 4 or 8 years (depending on circumstances) and cries about how the tide shifted the other direction and how expensive (or forbidden) certain firearms are, will get nothing but a mocking from me.

  37. Many of us have been there. One of our guns break or has to go back to the maker for warranty work. The wait is often months and sometimes the repair ain't right. And sometimes you even have to pay the shipping! In 40+ years of shooting and collecting, I've had to deal with most of the major gun makers at one time or another. Most have been an exercise in frustration. The one notable exception is Springfield Armory. I've told this story before. To make it short, Springfield has absolutely outstanding customer Service. So anyway, I have this stainless Interarms/Ranger Walther PPK .380 which I bought used. A couple of weeks ago the decocker quit working. The lever would move about 30 degrees and then just stop dead. I couldn't make it go any farther. Now this raised a couple of interesting questions. Since I'm not the original owner, would Walther Arms honor their lifetime warranty? And would Walther Arms even work on an Interarms/Ranger gun? Even the folks over at the Walther Forum weren't completely sure. I gave Walther Arms a call. BTW: for those who may no know, Walther Arms is the American version of Karl Walther Inc and located in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. I talked it over with the customer rep. They e-mailed a shipping label and repair form and off it went to Ft. Smith. I got it back today. According to the invoice, they replaced the decocker and hammer strut, serviced the gun and test fired it. The pistol works perfectly. Better yet, from the time it was shipped to them and when I got it back was ELEVEN DAYS! Warranty covered it all with no charge to me. Now let me add this. While I had the rep on the phone, I mentioned that I had recently bought a used PPK/S .22 and would like to purchase the little wrench for the muzzle nut. No problem! They sent me one in the mail for free. Folks, you just can't beat customer service like that! I'm more than happy to pass the good news on. KUDOS TO WALTHER ARMS!
