Ok guys, I think we have enough of a consensus here to predict the way this would go even if 1000 people voted. We'll switch back to the old way of doing this. I will work on it this weekend.3 points

I have an 8.5" AR pistol in 300bo. I really like the size and feel. I should be getting my can out of jail for it soon, and that will make it even better. Mine's 300, but it's been 100% reliable so far with about 850-900 rounds. SLR handguard, Shockwave brace,TGO billet upper and lower2 points

I think the thing about Woodstock isn't necessarily that it was the 'biggest', the 'best' or whatever else. I think that, maybe because of the time it happened, maybe because there was nothing exactly like it, before and probably because of a host of other reasons - like it was a big 'hippie' event that probably marked a time when the 'hippie' movement and the whole peace/love thing in general was beginning to wind down, it is seen as such a special thing. Just think that it wasn't too many years after Woodstock that the 'big' movement in music was Disco for Pete's sake. There may have been and will be music events, festivals and gatherings that are 'bigger' and even arguably 'better' - and I wouldn't be able to say because I wasn't even born when Woodstock happened. However, even as someone who wasn't even born at the time I think I can say that no, other such event will ever leave such an indelible mark on the American mythos or resonate in American cultural history as Woodstock did, has done and will continue to do. You hear people talk about Bonaroo as a fun time, sure, and you hear people talk about Lollapalooza as a great time but you never hear of people talk of either of those in such an historically significant and almost mythical manner as you hear with Woodstock. That may well be because there are so many great festivals, etc. today that none of them really stand out from the others. Heck, to be entirely truthful I think if I had the chance I would rather go to SXSW or the Austin City Limits Festival or one of the other festivals in and around Austin than Woodstock even if I had a chance to go to Woodstock. Further, many and perhaps nearly every organizer of every, such event will often try to tout their event as 'the next Woodstock'. So, in that way, Woodstock set the bar. Think of it in other terms. There may be boxers today who could wax Mohammed Ali's behind but those boxers will always be compared to and measured by boxers like Ali and others. There may be baseball players today who could put the past greats to shame but there will only ever be one Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and so on. Likewise, there may be bigger and even better festivals but there will only ever be one Woodstock and it will be the standard by which all other such events are judged.2 points

I haven't been around much lately simply because spring happened. There's a new boat, the grass has been growing like mad, kids are graduating, etc. There's just been a lot going on for me. Funny thing... I came here looking forward to catching up on the political funnies thread Dang. I enjoy gun talk. Guns and hunting are my main hobby. However, I do (did) enjoy the political talk here as well. I have thick skin and thought the differences of opinion added to the conversations. I hope it comes back. The benefactor only idea is probably a good one. I'm browsing on my new iPhone 7+. I was a die-hard Android (Samsung) fan, but I decided to try something different for a change. The site looks and functions great with it.2 points

Thanks David and I like the old way as well. Seemed we had more traffic and I liked reading all the comments that people posted even if it was the standard "wish you were closer"2 points

I have been on a tear as of late! I pulled my dream rifle out of layaway in February and I am almost complete with the build. The last piece of the puzzle will be ordered next week. Which is a Knight's Armament Company 762 CQB QDC suppressor in FDE. Knight's Armament Company (KAC) SR-25 EMC - Leupold Optics Mark 8 1.1-8x24mm CQBSS H27D - BT10-LW17 V8 Atlas Bipod - Magpul ACS-L Stock - Magpul MIAD Gen 1.1 Grip I went to the Outpost Armory last month to purchase a bipod for my rifle and I walked out with a Romanian SAR-3 instead. Last September, I got the itch to purchase a FAL. I scratched that itch by purchasing an Imbel parts kit + Imbel gear logo receiver. I sent my parts in January to Mark to Arizona Response systems to assemble and refinish my rifle. I received my FAL back from Mark at Arizona Response Systems after patiently waiting nearly 6 months. To say that I am pleased is a gross understatement. His work is first rate and worth every penny. Capitol Armory squared me away on a Surefire SOCOM RC2 5.56 suppressor2 points

I will say this. I attended another concert which was 1 nighter and it was just before I lost my wife and it was the last one we got to attend together and it was probably the one I remember the most. It was right here in Nashville at Starwood. It was almost not announced and it was just filling a void they had but it was Lynyrd Skynyrd Marshal Tucker performing a Concert. Starwood had a cancellation on a show and they stepped up to fill the void since they were between concerts. There was several stars that just showed up to join in and when they thought they had closed the show the crowd would not leave and we all kept protesting that we were not leaving not leaving till they performed FREE BIRD. They finally came back out on stage and performed it and did it is style for about 10 solid minutes. No it was not a Woodstock but it remains in my mind like it was yesterday..................1 point

KPD is very good about not blabbing active case details unlike many agencies these days. They are also very good at solving these types of crime. If the "romantic interest" is a person of interest it will come out when it needs to.1 point

I just found it on YouTube, clicked the arrow in the upper right corner of the video, clicked Copy Link, then pasted that into the body of my post. I probably learned that from my 9 year old too, lol1 point

That's exactly what they are trying to do. People quit buying cans because they think HPA is a given. It wouldn't surprise me to see a few companies fold before this is all over with.1 point

Not a great pic, but here's my latest. The Cimarron 1878. Knocks holes in anything that needs holes. It's become my side kick on the ATV around the farm. Who needs a chainsaw?1 point

I'm taking the day off. If the forecast isn't excellent for middle TN, I'll start driving on the weekend to get to an area on the centerline with clear skies forecast. I'll not be missing this one.1 point

A friend that is a real eclipse fanatic told me that the important thing was to pick a location that has the greatest odds of clear skies. He rented a whole house in the NW over 2 year ago for his extended family to all meet for the event. His sister travels all over the world taking pictures of eclipses. Not being a fanatic we plan to drive about an hour or 2 from here and find a parking lot.1 point

Well, today I bought a couple of optics. Paid for my NF NXS 3.5-15x50 MILR for my Montana Rifle also committed to buying that NF NXS 1-4x24 from bud for my FAL Also picked up a Streamlight TLR1 HL might as well add in that TGO Godfather from the classifieds, and the Dark Angel since they are both TGO knives. (I think the Les George is the only one I am missing, unless there is one I have forgotten.)1 point

Good point. They hit 36 people at the party (12 dead and 24 wounded)...they probably hit someone almost every time they fired. Then basically missed every shot once someone started shooting back.1 point

Been doing about 100 miles a week, i stop for gas at 100 miles give or take. Putting in 100 percent gas, 93 Oct, fill up is less then 5 dollars, After going to Wheels though time, I have kicked myself for note spending more and getting an Indian, but I really needed to work myself back into it. Maybe the next one will be.1 point

Ugh....we could have been the "Ice Tigers" . . . who thought that was a good idea? The final names were Ice Tigers, Fury, and Attack. Craig Leipold had the good sense to think "wow...those names suck" and added Predators to the list. Surprise, surprise! The owner's idea won. I don't care if it was an honest vote, or if Craig named himself a "super-delegate" at the last minute. Predators was a great choice.1 point
-
True, but THIS Predators fan has supported the team since the beginning, participated in the "name the team" vote in 1998, attended their first open house event at Bridgestone in the summer of 1998 (then simply the Nashville Arena), and still sports a first generation jersey. I can't believe we FINALLY get to see a banner hanging over our home ice. "Stanley Cup Champions" will look better than "Western Conference Champions", of course, but after almost 19 years since the first puck dropped, I'll take what I can get.1 point

We had a portable 8 track player that my mom got with S&H green stamps. Yeah, it was that long ago. I used it, some, even into early high school. It was probably, oh, 10 inches to a foot square - best I remember - and was yellow. It had one speaker built in to the front of the player and a 'plunger' made in to the top to change the track (track had to be changed manually.) Mom and dad also bought a huge Curtis Mathis television/all in one entertainment center kind of thing back in the late 70s. It was long, about like a dresser. The television screen was in the middle and was flanked by a speaker on each side. There was a 'lid' that could be raised on either side of where the screen was. Under one 'lid' was a record player and under the other 'lid' was an AM/FM radio tuner and an 8 track player. That 8 track player would change the tracks on its own.1 point

If you listen to Midday 180 on the Zone they spoke with Jacob yesterday. He owned it and knew he was getting thrown out, the interview was really good. All of his fines are covered and I'm pretty sure Clay Travis is going to defend him Pro Bono if he wants him to. I hope that somehow he can stream that court hearing live if Clay defends him, should be a good show.1 point

I doubt there will ever be another Woodstock! That was different time and era and those days are long gone. The young people of today have far to much hatred built up in them and the young people back then were called Love Children and yea they protested but they didn't set out to destroy other peoples property like young people today. Look at Berkeley back then and look at Berkeley today and that should tell folks everything they need to know..............jmho1 point

I picked up SIG P320 full size since this thread started. Just because I wanted to have example of the new Army heater. Absolutely nothing to dislike about it, I must say. I made it bedside gun with addition of Inforce weapon light, about which I also have nothing but good things to report: - OS1 point

Per request...here is my 458 Socom - its a double stamp (NFA) 10.5" with a Bowers Versa50 Suppressor. Vortex Viper PST 1-4 x 24 scope. It literally brings home the bacon...and a ton more pork too :-). I have a 16" RR upper too but suppressed it is just too long for fast moving pigs (and any other things needing blown up...lol)1 point

ACME Bullet Company is about to release an accurized 458 SOCOM bullet. It will weigh 575+ grains and uses certified 92-6-2 alloy. Should put a thumping on whatever you hit.1 point

Well, you'd think doing the DL would also change HCP, since numbers are the same, and even picture is shared. But I honestly don't know. What about the few people who may have an HCP but no TN DL? Yeah, that way you would be sure to might get the correct info. - OS1 point
