The bumble bee is an important, beneficial insect. They pollinate plants and flowers as they forage for food. To gardeners, it is a welcome sight to see these large, flying insects carrying large loads of pollen, flying into and around their flower beds and gardens. I had to look up the Bumble Bees to be sure of what I had been told as kid learning about things on the farm growing up. Grand father told me they did good things and looks like he was correct. I am sure Carpenter Bees that look like Bumble Bees also have no positive purpose other than to being annoying and doing damage to your house eves and out buildings. Of course we all know that honey Bees produce honey that most everyone enjoys on hot biscuits or toast and even in coffee and tea so they are very useful. Now for the Yellow Jacket I think God put them on Earth as a lesson for stupid people and people that do not pay attention to their surroundings. I was guilty of that as I have dealt with them several times while growing up living on the farm and it was not a good experience for me or them. They got me and I got them. Other than that I see no postive reason for them being on earth. They are just 1 of many of GODS creatures that has yet to prove a positive value............JMHO3 points

Getting the first P-3 ready for the flight schedule, we found a swarm decided to park on the #2 propeller. We changed aircraft for that flight. Had a beekeeper come and take em, seemed smarter and cleaner than firing up the engine!3 points

10 years ago I bought a BERSA Thunder .380. It was my first semi-auto. Early on I shot it quite a bit. Lately not so much. It's relegated to SUV truck gun status in a small essentials bag. Decided to take it to the range earlier in the week. Shoot up the 5 mags of ammo, clean it up and reload with fresh. I had forgotten what a joy it is to shoot and how well I shoot it. It went through 40 rounds of JHP without a missed beat. I probably have 800 reliable round through it now. My Brother in Law brought his stainless Walther PPKs and we both did better with the BERSA and the trigger on the BERSA is "better" than the Walther. What a great gun.2 points

I posted a video here a few years back that was really too dark to see. I shot a new one this weekend. I hope this helps some people. One more note that I should have mentioned when filming. If your pistol still has a magazine disconnect, then you will need to reinsert your magazine when pulling the trigger. Otherwise, the hammer won't move where you need it to.2 points

I'm looking at buying a Bersa Thunder Plus soon. Not a need but just a want. I like the idea of the 15 round magazine verses the 8 round. I guess my model 85 spoiled me. I will keep my Thunder 8 round for ever since it was my first gun I bought after getting my CCW permit and I carried it a long time and still do depending on where I might be going. I can't say nothing bad about Bersa's..............jmho2 points

That is bad. Hopefully if someone shot it the others got away. Few people understand how some of these animals can be helpful to have around let alone fun to watch. I have seem people shoot things just because they were eating the cat food that was left out on the porch. If I could get a few foxes and larger snakes to hang around, my gopher and mole issue would be history. So far though no luck. All the snakes I see are garter snakes and they are way too small to help out.2 points

People who have never taken the time to study them of at least learn about them just thing they are just another bug that might sting them. The last thing a bee wants to do is that. All they want to do is work and go home. They are actually very smart........JMHO2 points

Walking by my neighbor's place yesterday, he showed my this in his shrubs. It isn't a hive of any sort, just a massive wad of bees. This morning they were gone.1 point

Today I saw a great deal on a sp101 but, stopped myself because, I ready have one, it was exactly like the one I have, and would rather spend that on a different gun and because variety is the spice of life. But, I know that there are people who own multiple copies of the same gun for whatever reason and I'd like to know who does and what would be the point of it. You know besides the Hollywood reason.1 point

I can't count the amount of rattlers I've encountered grown up but I don't think I've ever been in a 'rattlesnake situation' before... ≠ gang sign FTR.1 point

Great vid, Cap. However, I've been fussing with my Mark II for about 25 years. Needed a hammer last time. It's never coming apart again, at least by my hands. Liberal blastings of Remoil are good enough for cleaning out the innards.1 point

Awesome video! Thank you fo taking the time to make it. I'm about to disassemble mine for a good cleaning and been a little apprehensive about it due to what I've heard about reassembling it.1 point

I've heard those work too. Given the option, I'd prefer they died prior to being able to bite me (says the walking mosquito magnet).1 point

+1. The new style of classifieds seems to make more confusion than it should. I like the style of the advert threads, but like "Chucktshoes" said, the whole dual thread thing is a mess.1 point

When a hive decides to swarm, the queen and about half of the bees in the hive will swarm and gather in a tree. First they gorge on honey because it may be a while till they get established again. So, half of your bees, and a good portion of your honey just fly away. This is why they are docile in a swarm... they have nothing really to defend, so why bother. Stinging someone is a death sentence for the bee. When they gather like that, they will send out scout bees to look for a new home. Each scout will return and give a report of the new place they discovered. Somehow they all decide which one to use, communicate where it is, and all at once they ALL fly straight to the new home. Bees amaze me1 point

Those Shaw barrels are short chambered so you will need a reamer to cut the last few thousands. I don't know anything about what Sarco is selling these days but you will need some sort of sights I recommend a Redfield or another quality one piece mount. The receiver will need to be drilled and taped 6-48 or perhaps 8-40. Also the safety will need to be fitted and it's better to let someone do it properly. This is going to cost as much as a whole entry level rifle will when you add it all up. There's a guy in Columbia, TN I will reach out to and see if he's interested in doing this for you. I don't talk to him very often and things change. I will message you this weekend when I find out.1 point

And some still say the vote went the wrong way! Elections have consequences, and luckily the consequences may be in our favor this time. Now if Trump can only get a couple more on the SC bench...1 point

Dave and I are in agreement on this. Read into that what you will. I really don't like how the new classifieds dual thread thing works. It's cluttered, confusing, and wholly unnecessary.1 point

I ain't going to grab the danged thing up if I have a choice and if I were in rattlesnake country I'd either have a shotgun, a centerfire revolver with snake shot or maybe my NAA .22 Mag with snake shot to deal with them. Heck, I do that around the house in case of copperheads in the summer. What I want him to show is the proper way to clean/skin and butcher that rattlesnake. I mean, it looks like there would be a lot of meat on that sucker and I have heard that they taste pretty good - I wouldn't be wasting it like that.1 point

Seems that way to me, too. I looked at the list of Representatives and Senators who voted 'aye' so that I can begin compiling my list of people to vote against any and every chance I get. I don't care if they are Republican, Democrat or Plutonian. The Republicans at the state level have gotten away with this BS of saying one thing and doing another when it comes to gun rights and carry rights long enough. They pay lip service to 'gun rights' to get our support - thereby probably losing the support of anti-gunners who take them at face value - and then turn around and stab us in the back. It is time they lost the support of pro gun folks as well as the anti gun folks. We need to start sending the message that we want results, not handshakes and promises. If that means enduring a term or two of Democratic control in order to send the message then that is what we are going to have to do. For that matter, in some ways we saw more advances to gun/self defense/carry rights with Bredesen in the Governor's mansion and rabidly anti-gun Naifeh as Speaker - things like no duty to retreat being made official, so-called 'guns in bars' (even though both Bredesen and Naifeh opposed that one it still made it through - over Bredesen's veto, IIRC) and others than we have since the current bunch of losers took office.1 point

I have a very liberal friend who is all about your money. He constantly spouts the greedy rich / exploited worker schtick. Propaganda at its finest, tell the same story over and over. I have friends and relatives waaay better off than me financially, I don't covet what they have, what they earn or what they inherited. I don't think they're greedy because they want to retain what they have or earn more than they have. Fair share and the public good. Who decides what my fair share is, aren't I the public and why am I not asked what is good. Maybe if my 5 figure tax bill was lower, I would be able to be less greedy and increase my charitable contributions.1 point

Geez. i disagree. If you want to make the money of a CEO, strive to be one and become one. If you want to get govt mandated raises and a "living wage" for doing menial work that doesn't take a special skill set, prepare to be replaced by a robot or machine and wait for your handout. Crooks and politicians! I label those lacking ethics and the moral incapacity to do the right thing for the right reason crooks as well.1 point
-
The only people that take wealth they haven't earned are crooks and politicians. That's why many pols are against the death penalty, in case their actions catch up to them. If someone has a business, it's to make money. Or to satisfy a need to provide a service or good. Your narrative sounds like a liberal bumper sticker.1 point
