Been scarce around here because of school, work, and this demonic pond project. Cheapest bid from a contractor was quoted at $4,000 +/- (which we all know would have been 25% more after they started). Highest bid was $11,000. I said screw a bunch of that, watched some videos on youtube and figured out how to do it myself. The pond was just trashy looking, it had probably close to 5 tons of river boulders piled up around the edge (contractor was probably laughing all the way to the bank after installing it). My disabled ass removed literally everything except a single boulder (can't move it, it's too big - used a 7" stone cutter to cut rings around it, drilled holes, used a sledge and chisels, and even (literally) melted a bit behind a 70# jackhammer and the damn thing wouldn't crack). Employing some neighbors for plan B on it Wednesday. Brought in 2 tons of flat rock to replace it with. Anywho, in at a total of $825 for everything and that includes some new tools/toys I had to buy. Looks pretty good now, just needs some plants to soften it up and some in the pond to provide shade for the koi. This is it mid-project (forgot to take before pic) And today: No more projects this year. Am done with doing anything except mowing lol.7 points

That's right. But many a time I fell asleep listening to Shaving Cream. Way too many verses to that little ditty. But long before the Doctor, I listened to WLS as kid at night on a tiny little radio I had. Always seemed to have my dad walking in and telling me to turn that racket off and go to sleep.2 points

I do love the fancy grips also, like stag or bone, real ivory of the old days, fancy wood from exotics, etc. Keeping with the thread [OP] I posted some of the dedicated hunting guns, and rubber is definitely the right tool for them, especially for the caliber(s) and the climate, for me anyway. One of my favorites is simply a pair of rosewood from a new Blackhawk [.327federal when they came out] and put on my Single-Six that I bought in 1956. It hung in the barn, in the leather holster it came with, for over 30yrs.......now has great patina, yet fires like it was new. I love the new/old contrast. That guy on ebay from Thailand has some interesting grips these days also. 1) Single-Six with original grips 2,3) Trausch grips on M608 [RIP Jacque] 4) Copy of Trausch SP-101 grips, designed for female French police using SP-101 .357mag, made by myself and my friend Jim 5) Ivory on BH2 points

Dave Spaulding is teaching a handgun class at Hilltop Firearms Training Center in Dover TN July 15-16. From what I've heard his classes are excellent and he's one of the most down to earth people you'll meet. If you're interested, http://handguncombatives.com/1 point

There was moonshine, moonshine, to quench the Devil's thirst. The law they swore they'd get him but the Devil got him first. (So I'm an old fart)1 point

Again, y'all are leaving out the fact that under current state law, you can be arrested, and taken to trial for having a silencer. Your stamp is a defense to prosecution in court. EVEN IF NOTHING HAPPENS AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL, getting rid of the DTP language in our state is GOOD thing. And supposedly, Todd Rathner and the NFAFA will be looking to do away with the DTP language for the rest of the NFA items in TN next session.1 point

That brings back old memories. While not a loyal listener I do recall occasionally picking the show up late at night. That's because it was the only time you could pick up WLS-AM out of Chicago.1 point

Dave is one of those rare instructors who can teach to the student on the level that they need. From beginner to combat veteran with real world gunfights, I have seen Dave explain a technique (using different words and actions) to either of these type of shooters and achieve the same teaching objective for both. As an example, Dave's efficient method of instruction for the draw is the definition of clear, simple and understandable. Its makes all other methods taught by different instructors seem convulsive and jerky.1 point

This is the way I am. I live alone as well and everybody that knows me, including my female friend, calls or texts me before they come to my house. I have 3 nephews ages 6, 8 and 10 and one of them comes with Pap's, my Father, every Tuesday morning. He calls me EVERY Tuesday morning when he's about 5 minutes away to let me know which boy he has with him. The oldest hunts with Pap's, has taken the hunter safety course, has his own gun and knows every gun is loaded and not to touch it unless he is given permission. The other two haven't started hunting yet but the 8yr old has his own BB gun that stays in the safe at my parents house. He get's to shoot it, supervised by Pap's, when he comes over to visit sometimes. I'm in a wheelchair now, have MS, and have a gun, that is "hot", on me at all times in an ankle holster. Also I may have one or two laying on the table that have just been cleaned or I am going to clean. If he has the youngest one with him I do put any gun's that are laying out back in the safe and also unholster my carry gun and put it in the drawer that's in a table beside my recliner until they leave. He likes to sit in my lap and drive my chair so I don't take any chances of his foot accidentally kicking the gun while he's in my lap. I was raised around gun's and started hunting with my Father when I was around 10yrs. old.1 point

We do have it pretty good right now with AR triggers, don't we? You can tell the young spoiled kids how you used to have to work with a 2-stage surplus trigger (the horror!!!). And they won't even know what that is. ;-)1 point

The law became effective in 2014 if I'm not mistaken. The gentleman that was told that veiled threat by the Morristown officer, should report him to the state's D.A. for "further education" in the laws he's supposed to be enforcing. It's said that ignorance of the law is no defense...that should be tripled for law enforcement! Three years on the books should be quite enough time for L.E. to get accustomed to it. You won't get an argument out of me when it comes to other peoples children. Any friends that come to my house make sure they keep their chldren under control and never let them out of their site. I guess that is why I don't get a lot company that have children in tow. I don't have guns down where child can gain easy access to them and if I do people coming to visit know to call first and any room that has guns down low are locked prior to their arrival. I live alone and my home is my castle and I live in it the way I choose to...........................1 point

Better yet teach the kids about firearms, how and when to handle them. No need to hide what the kids know is there.1 point
