  1. Feisty little lady you Kingsport folks got there A home invasion went horribly wrong for a man who tried to rob a woman. Police say the diminutive 52-year-old woman who lives there grabbed a bat and started hitting him in the face. It happened in Kingsport, Tenn. Police say on Saturday night the woman answered a knock at her door to find a woman holding a flyer about a lost dog. As soon as she opened the door, a masked man stepped into the doorway, grabbed her arm, and attempted to pull her outside. When that failed, police say the masked man pushed the resident back inside the home and shouted, "This is a robbery!" A struggle ensued, during which time the 4'11" tall victim was able to partially remove the mask from the suspect’s face. In doing so, she immediately recognized the man as Joe Sotello, a longtime family friend. She says she also noticed what appeared to be a handgun tucked in Sotello’s waistband. She grabbed a baseball bat from behind the door and fought back in what police described as a "clearly justifiable self-defense." Two 18-year old females were also in the house and came to the woman's defense. Together, the three women physically drove Sotello out of the house and onto the front lawn. The woman who had been holding the flyer took off in a car befoer Sotello could get into it. She was later identified to be Sotello’s girlfriend. Sotello was arrested for aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and taken to a local hospital for medical clearance before sent to the Kingsport City Jail. After giving several false statements regarding the incident and his whereabouts, police say that Sotello eventually confessed to his crime, stating that he “had been going through some hard times.” Police say the victim was a foot shorter and 100 pounds lighter than the suspect but that didn't stop her from teaching him a painful lesson. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/05/01/tennessee-woman-beats-home-invasion-suspect-with-baseball-bat.html

  2. You won't get an argument out of me when it comes to other peoples children. Any friends that come to my house make sure they keep their chldren under control and never let them out of their site. I guess that is why I don't get a lot company that have children in tow. I don't have guns down where child can gain easy access to them and if I do people coming to visit know to call first and any room that has guns down low are locked prior to their arrival. I live alone and my home is my castle and I live in it the way I choose to...........................

  3. yep, that's why I write them a check every month and spend 50 cents on a stamp instead of paying them $5 to make it easier on them.

  4. Well I will get flack on this, but bad parenting is just that. I taught mine at a very young age not to touch a hot stove. No I did not put their hand on a hot stove, we taught them what hot is. Firearms are the same way, do not touch. Visiting kids parents were giving a talk about what their kids knew. We knew the parents well and their kids to. I dont care how well you keep stuff up and away and locked up, a kid will find a way to get at it. When someone new to us comes over we pull them to the side and tell the parents that their child is to be kept a very close eye on. We have a pool, way more danger then a firearm. Being a good parent is very tuff, not something to be made lite of. Some parents think it is OK to let a kid run wild, not in my house, all kids become mine in my house. I am not saying I just leave a firearm laying around. They are accessible to a point and they are loaded.

  5. TN / GA / AL Training Group On SATURDAY June 10 we will hold the first summer meeting for the TN/GA/AL Regional Suarez Int Training Group! Instructor: Tier 1 Suarez Int Staff Instructor Randy HarrisLocation: The usual place- Phillips/Edwards Farm 763 County Rd 332 Pisgah AL 35765 Time: 9AM CENTRAL time - 3PM CENTRAL timePrice: $60 - pay at class cash or check. What you need to bring: Pistol, pistol magazines and at least 200 rounds of ammo. Revolvers are welcome if you want to party like it is 1899. We will work on smoothing out our pistol skills and will shoot several challenging drills and work to be more competent and confident with the weapon we carry most...our pistol. Rifles are awesome but they are not always close by. The pistol is far more likely to be the weapon you will have in hand be it robbery, terrorism or whatever. This will give participants a chance to shoot some timed and scored drills and get a feel for where their skill level is and see where they can improve.

  6. I wasn't happy with the previous foam cuts, so I re-did it. Much better! When you raise up the silencer tray, there is another section underneath for all the accessories.

  7. Had to try my hand at a set of coins in my defender's grips I picked up. These are Buffalo Nickels that are engraved called Hobo Nickels. Really like the grips better than the rubber ones that came from the factory.

  8. My friend's wife bought a TCP 380 wing. The one with small tabs on the slide to assist in racking. She let my wife give it a try in anticipation of a future purchase. I cleaned it for her, polished the ramp and breech, lubed it and returned it better than before. Yesterday she calls and said she couldn't rack it. The slide only moved about 1/4 inch. I had her bring it over this morning. I played hates trying to get the take down pin out, but eventually it came. I got the slide off and attempted to pull the trigger with no luck. The hammer stayed back. Bout that time my brain kicked in and I looked at her and said, "where is your key?" The look on her face was priceless. The TCP is one of the few semi-autos that can be locked inoperative as a safety measure. She sheepishly reached in her purse and produced the repair device. I unlocked it and showed her how to put the gun back together, while all the time she was apologizing and saying how she now recalled locking it. I told her a gun in a locked condition is worse than a paperweight and we both had a good laugh.

  13. Oh, I though you meant new like a factory one someone stashed away and did upkeep on since. This is like the cobra kits that used a 5.0 donor car to complete them. It would be kick a$$ to have one, but a decently restored original is gonna be way cheaper. These are for people who have a lot of cash to burn.

  15. Once you pick a contractor, watch them like a hawk. Go to the site every day to go over plans, and inspect the work. Don't hesitate to make them fix or redo things you don't like, it's much faster/easier/less expensive to address it now than later. Remind them that you are both the customer and the boss if necessary.

  22. I agree wholeheartedly, but I understand when guys want things like power steering in a 50's car. I just prefer to run everything as stock as I can. I have a 56 Chevy Step-side that I am trying to get around to doing. I don't want ti showroom original, but that is because I never knew it that way. It was always the old triuck Dad had. that beinfd said, since the truck id 90+ percent original, I plan to keep it that way. Ther will be some metal repair needed and probably some glass, but I will limit it to things that have to be done.

  23. There are several reasons for a restomod instead of an all original on an older car. Safety and reliability are the obvious ones, but cost is another. Some parts for the older ones are exceedingly difficult to find, especially if you're trying to build a 100-point car. Something as simple as wire clips in the wrong shade of the right color can get you dinged by a judge. Other times there's just not enough of the original left to be able to do an original restoration. Take a 34 Ford. If you can find one, the odds of it still being an all steel body with the steel running boards and wheel arches, and not a pile of rust are slim. You may have a solid body, but the running boards are roached. So if you get fiberglass replacements, is it really an all original restoration? Nope, so might as well rod it.

  24. Better yet teach the kids about firearms, how and when to handle them. No need to hide what the kids know is there.
