This all started almost a month ago. With no notice, a company listed some Colt USMC M45A1 CQBP for sale on Gunbroker. The seller claimed that these were the actual guns issued to and carried in theater by USMC Special Operations units, including Force Recon. People were very skeptical and thought this had to be a scam. I mean when was the last time you could buy an actual, carried military handgun. A discussion started on the Colt forum and the 1911 forum about these. Some of the guys knew some Colt employees and called them. Colt verified that these were the actual guns sold to and carried by the USMC Special Operations units. The USMC was not happy with the way the coating was holding up and returned a batch to Colt to be replaced. Colt inspected the M45A1s and issued a letter of authenticity with them and x out the USMC to show they had been demilled. Then sold the entire lot to the company selling them on Gunbroker. Now before you could even buy one you had to sign up for the Gunbroker Gold program. It is $50/year and gives you access supposedly to some good deals. These went up for sale Friday afternoon and were sold out by Monday morning. A couple of guys have stated tracking all the sales and compiling a list of the serial numbers. It looks like approx. 475 of the used guns were sold. Word is that there will not be anymore used ones. Then people started hearing rumors of some more guns that were going to be available but these were supposed to be “nib”. Meaning they were bought by the USMC and shipped to their armories but not carried. These went up for sale at a little higher price at the beginning of last week. They sold approx 368 of these with the majority going in the first two hours. They would put a small batch sell them and then raise the price for the next batch. I think they underestimated what the demand for these would be. These have become instant collectibles. Some of the used ones have shown back up on Gunbroker selling for 2.5-3 times what they cost. I was lucky enough to get one of the used ones and one of the “nib” ones. I just got the used one and the “nib” one should arrive next week.4 points

Just picked up my first 1903. These are cool little guns. This one was made in 1913. Not bad looking for 104 years old. The 1903 is a .32. The 1908s, which look the same, are .380. I will probably end up getting one of those also. The slide is tight and a little sticky. I need to stip it and give it a good cleaning and then off to the range.3 points

Affinity tool works is the USA importer for Tormek, I need to give them some serious praise this my friends goes beyond Customer service! Sadly a few weeks back my brand new Tormek T8 had a unusual noise starting to be a regular issue, I called the company I bought it from, they put me in touch with Affinity tool. Just through email I let them know all was well a couple of days earlier as the noise appeared to go away, A lady from the company called me and said they would like me to send my Machine to them, while on the phone, I started the machine and sure enough the noise was back, this noise was there with everything removed so I knew for a fact it was the motor, possibly a bearing they sent me an overnight Fed Ex shipping label that they paid for, I told them I needed my machine back ASAP, they overnighted me a brand new T7 to use while my new motor comes from Sweden, I still have this T7 setup and I love it, i started thinking it would be great to have 2 Tormek I could keep my Black stone that I use for sharpening on the T8 and put the Japanese water stone on the T7 last week I asked them what they would charge me if I kept the system, $499.95 was the answer, this is a great price, so I said I'll think about it. I sent them an email asking what would they charge me just for the machine as I never used the standard stone, I never received a reply. Today this AM I sent an email saying I really did not need another system, so I would be sending their T7 back once my T8 arrives. She replied saying that is fine if I want to send it back, but her offer still stands. I asked again what if I kept the machine and send back the stone and other items I do not need, what would my price be? She replied $0.00 please send the stone back and keep the T7 your T8 will ship back to you next week, Happy Easter! Needless to say I am overwhelmed by this, sorry I just had to share!3 points

Cheaper than you would think. The company that sold these could have made twice as much had they priced the original run correctly. The used guns went for $1299 and $1349. The "nib" started at $1890. They steadily increased the price of those as the sold. They have like 17 left and they are priced at 2995.95. I paid $1349 for the used and got one of the first "nib" ones for $1890.2 points

Midges all day everyday Terrestrial will work all day but more productive later in summer usually. Otherwise it's just a matter of what's hatching when. Bug hatches are usually coordinated with sunlight and water temp. So sometimes that's first light and dusk. Sometimes that's afternoon. Some days if its overcast there won't be a hatch other days there will. Just keep and eye on the bugs you see flying, what they are, what time of day it is/conditions, and are the trout being active.2 points

Music City Tactical Shooters will be hosting our spring time Man vs Man (women competitors are encouraged to show up the guys) & Team vs Team steel shootout this April 22nd. Man vs Man Each competitor will warm up in random single (or double) elimination bracket system. Approx 15-20 targets each round during the man vs man elimination match. The more you win the more rounds you shoot. Choose wisely as Iron sights will have more advantage on mag capacity. Team vs Team Each team (which you pick) will consist of 3 person team in a double elimination back system. If you can't find enough, we will find you some at the range. Approx 45-50 targets each round during the man vs man elimination match. The more you win the more rounds you shoot. Rules: Your team will lay weapons on table(when instructed so). You pick the order of relay. When the buzzer is engaged, Competitor A will advance to table and load weapon, fire his/her rounds and lay empty weapon back on the table. Run back to line and tag Competitor B. Competitor C will advance to table and load weapon, fire his/her rounds and lay empty weapon back on the table. Run back to line and tag Competitor C. Competitor C will advance to table and load weapon, fire his/her rounds and lay empty weapon back on the table. Run back to line and tag Competitor A. Repeat as many times as necessary to knock down all steel.1 point

Real bottom line is that most folks only have a choice between 2-4 airlines for domestic travel, and often just one to realistically meet their schedule. It's a pretty exclusive industry, not one folks can really affect all that much by consumer choice. - OS1 point

Looks like that CPX-2 is just a little shorter than a SHIELD but lighter? Opinions? Are they pronouncing that name Sky? $228 is kinda tempting to just give it a try.1 point

The daisy cutter is 15,000 pounds. They dropped several of them when the war in Afghanistan started. I don't think either one is big enough1 point

My guess is after the Taliban drags in some women and children to kill and claim that they were killed by the bomb. A blast radius of 1 mile is no joke!1 point

I'll be there with Mike Dresner. We are bringing some of our machine guns, mainly belt feds for a red carpet entrance to the after party on Saturday for all the big named companies (vortex, eotech, etc). They will be taking pictures with our guns. Pretty excited to say the least.1 point

Bersaguy PM'd me with a potential match for these. If that falls through for any reason I'll post accordingly. But I think they'll be in good hands with Bersa helping to get them where they need to be. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk1 point

No, the proper solution was to deal with the overbooking before boarding. Once boarded, there should be no reason to get off unless it is a security issue. They also need to figure out the crew assignments better, how is it that the crew could not take another flight, or a 4hr bus trip for that matter. If crew rest would of been impacted, then they should of been sent off the day before.1 point

I saw an interesting way to add protein the the birds' diet from a guy on YouTube. He takes a bucket and punches some small holes in the bottom. Then he suspends it with a makeshift tripod. He puts in a layer of straw/hay. Then he puts in left over meat scraps (such as from the bird he just ate or butchered), then more straw. He keeps that up as meat scraps are available. He even said he picks up roadkill to add to it. Then as nature does its work, the flies leave eggs. When they hatch the maggots crawl out the bottom holes to be chick food. He says the straw keeps the smell contained and when the bucket is full he just dumps the clean bones and such out somewhere. He said his chickens love it and since the maggots are clean it does not have any type of potential health issues. This might be good to use in you contained run. I might suggest cracking open any bones if you can to get maximum benefit by letting the marrow be eaten out. You might also need several buckets set up at butchering time so that you do not waste the butchering scraps. Obviously this would not be a primary food, but would be a free way to augment it naturally. It also takes care of food waste that you can not add to the compose bin. If you got really ambitious, you might be able to hook up with a local butcher and keep a lot of buckets running. If you hunt things like the deer head that you are not going to use could be added too. I have wanted to try this, but my place and life does not lend itself to fowl. Another note: With Easter coming up, you might watch for people giving away fowl after the cute chick/duck phase wears off. Lots of people still give the dyed chicks and ducks to kids as Easter gifts. You might not have a choice of sex or breed, but it might help to add to your flock.1 point
