I think this is just another example of how government is on-call to enforce edicts from business interests. Unless it's a health or safety issue, officers should not be willing to enforce on behalf of the airlines. United had a problem that was 100% business created, and therefore should have been 100% business solved. Forcing a booked, ticketed, checked, and seated passenger off a plane should never be a police function because there is no public danger in play.5 points

The difference is that they flew a C-130 over Afghanistan to drop the MOAB. The Tomahawks have a range of around 1,500 miles. Syria has air defenses, much more than Afghanistan.3 points

Bersaguy PM'd me with a potential match for these. If that falls through for any reason I'll post accordingly. But I think they'll be in good hands with Bersa helping to get them where they need to be. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk3 points

Can't really comment on their products as I have no experience with them but SCCY is going to start manufacturing handguns in Maryville, as well as moving headquarters there. 350 new jobs and a new gun manufacturer for Tennessee. http://www.knoxnews.com/story/money/business/2017/04/12/firearms-maker-sccy-brings-350-jobs-headquarters-blount-county/100339078/2 points

I'll let you all know this knife will have a Black Body, Black Ion Bond blade, Black Lip mother of Pearl push button and Dave is doing a few engraving of the TGO logo, I will let the majority rule on choosing the one we go with2 points

Interesting factoid for anyone who doesn't know: Began and operated as SKYY for a while, changed to SCCY after the vodka company took exception.2 points

They are still working on it, I'll post pictures here when I have them and I'll start an official thread when I have times and pricing2 points

Honestly they should have never forcibly removed anyone for the sake of flying employees in my book. It's the airlines problem and not the passengers. They could have placed them on another flight or found a different solution. Everyone has a price. They could have kept upping the offer for someone to disembark until they got volunteers. It would have been cheaper than the mess they are paying for now.....just sayin'.2 points

I missed getting a Carbine but got a Garand several years ago. They had some for $600 but I found one I had to have at $900. It has been an excellent rifle.2 points

Karma has been quite good to me lately, so I'm just looking to pass some down the chain. I'll be moving into a new apartment in a few weeks, and it already comes with a washer & dryer. So, instead of putting what I have no into storage, I figure I would bequeath it to an individual or family that can get some use from it. They're not the latest models, about 10yrs old in fact, but they still work just fine and I've never had a problem. Instead of them just sitting in a garage for years on end, I'd like these to go to someone who would actually need it...a family just starting out on their own, someone who can't afford one and has to go to a laundromat despite hookups in their place, something like that. If you know of anyone who would fit the bill, or can find someone through your social circles, church group, or other networks, please let me know. I'll be ready to come off them in two weeks, and would ask that someone come to Murfreesboro that weekend to pick them up. Please reply or PM with any takers. Thanks for reading.1 point

With that type of bomb the destruction is the O2 that it sucks out of the caves and kills anyone in the caves with out really doing a large amount of material damage exept maybe close the cave entrances. It would not have done much damage to the air base and by using the Cruise Missiles they could take out specific targets and not harm other such as the Russian Helicopters that were parked at the far side of the airbase that were not damaged. Don't want to upset the Bear....................1 point

I had been hoping for a black body and blade on this one. My current model is the desert sand with stone washed blade.1 point

My guess is after the Taliban drags in some women and children to kill and claim that they were killed by the bomb. A blast radius of 1 mile is no joke!1 point

I'll be there with Mike Dresner. We are bringing some of our machine guns, mainly belt feds for a red carpet entrance to the after party on Saturday for all the big named companies (vortex, eotech, etc). They will be taking pictures with our guns. Pretty excited to say the least.1 point

Maybe United should adopt the model that Delta uses. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/making-sense/how-delta-masters-the-game-of-overbooking-flights/1 point

Dig in, scavenge everything left behind by those who leave, then be ready for the handful who make it back alive after a failed bug out attempt.1 point

According to the stuff I've heard, a doctor performing surgery. Of course, that could be incorrect. But if I was stuck in Chicago, for whatever reason, I'd probably be screaming the same thing.1 point

After first taking it from those who are already there. If a person doesn't own the property they better have their supplies loaded and on their way to the bug out location BEFORE anything happens if you plan on being there first. You MUST have your supplies already loaded, tank full of gas and able to take off within minutes if you have ANY hope of beating the mobs. And if you think you have found the perfect spot a bunch of other people are planning to go to the same spot. There are plenty of people who plan on bugging out and I wonder where. Most of them say they plan to head to the hills which is a huge problem because there are already people in those hills living there right now. And those people are going to defend their location or at least I know I will. And don't expect others to openly welcome a large group of people. I know I won't welcome anyone unless they bring a significant skill to the group and honestly I can't imagine what that skill might be that isn't already covered. Anyone who is not a member of my group will be turned away with overwhelming amount of force. I will say this to all of those planning on bugging out to the hills. I will defend what is mine, including land, from any squatters or looters. After all if you show up and try to take what isn't yours you are a thief. That includes wild game, plants or anything on my property even if I do not need it or not using it that stuff is still mine. I may have more than I need to survive but I will not share any of it with complete strangers. I have made preparations to ensure my survivability and I would be a fool to give any of it away to complete strangers. It takes a lot of land to support a person year around. An acre or two isn't going to cut it. It will likely take 10's of acres per person if they plan on foraging or hunting. And what makes the average person think they are going to make it out of a population center before the other 50% of the other people leaving the cities clog the roadways? What is going to happen is the highways are going to clog like Rita/ Katrina leaving them stranded and with the option of walking to the "hills" or walking back to the cities. And when you start walking you are going to be able to carry far less than what you left with or even left behind in your vehicle. Bugging in has some real advantages and if I lived in a city I would, without a doubt, stay put. First is you already have everything you are going to have without the need to transport it to a new location. You can call for help from those around you while in a remote location you cannot call for help. Another big advantage is you know the area. You also know who is friend and who is foe or at least have a good idea. Travelling exposes you to more dangers. It is also easier to defend a building or high rise than a tent in the woods. Those buildings are going to protect you from the elements and be easier to keep warm in and survive in for the average person especially those used to living in the city. Food, at least initially, will be easier to come by in the cities as well as potable water. There are literally a few weeks worth of potable water in your water heater and toilet bowls and that is if you don't ration. With rain gutters, collecting water is much easier too. And as disgusting as it might sound cities have tons of rodents that can be harvested for food. If any type of relief or supplies are handed out it is going to be in the population centers first. The average person is going to have a far easier time surviving in the city than in the "hills". But if you must bug out and have any hope of bugging out you must be packed and ready to go in a moments notice. Vehicles have to ALWAYS have the gas needed to make it to that location. When the SHTF gas will be gone within minutes so unless you are at the pumps pumping your gas as it takes place you will not get gas from a pump. You need to also realize that there are going to be a lot more people than just you heading to a bug out location. This is going to clog the roadways like we saw during Rita/Katrina. The only way you might get a head start is if you are in a position to get some notice, like LE, emergency services or the government. Otherwise it is going to be a race to get out and if you are not in the lead you will find yourself stuck in the rear with the pack. And once you are stuck you and your stuff become vulnerable to roaming bands of thugs set on taking your stuff for themselves. And honestly it would be easy pickings. As far as your bug out location you need to own the property you plan to go to. This can give you a little bit of a delay in the squatters that will show up. And once there the squatters are not going to readily leave even if you tell them you own the property. If your bug out location is "public lands" you are not going to be the first there, it will be like winning the lottery if you are. You are going to find yourself surrounded by thousands of others who have the same plan. So, if it is a good spot, you will probably have to fight your way in and once in you will have to constantly defend that location. Most people don't realize that best case scenario crops will be edible in 4 months. If it happened during the summer it would be close to a year before crops can begin to be harvested. So that means you are going to have to transport that much food because you are not going to be able to kill a years worth of food with everyone else trying to do the same thing. And as much as I hate to say it in order to survive people must loose their conscience. They must be willing to turn those less fortunate away unless they bring a substantial advantage to the group. People have this grand illusion that they are going to be able to find virgin land to live off of. Look around, how much public land do you see? And of that how much is going to be free for the taking, not much if any, by the time they make it?1 point

don't to forget to factor in the cost of digging a well, installing a pump and plumbing, installing a septic system and permits needed for everything. monthly/quarterly service fees. if building, cost of electrical poles and wires from last pole nearest to you. just think of what you get from "city" services that you'll need to have and where from. if using gas, cost of propane vs natural. factor in cost of running gas line to your new house. if you just want hunting and shooting land, consider a lease and stay at your home. just thoughts to consider. The only thing I hate in these annnouncements is all the politicians patting themselves on the back. I wonder what concessions they gave to get him to pick Maryville. Also, with the gun market prices dropping fast, will he keep up the hiring he promises? I know my work just got stuck because a snack maker moved in a building we built, then filled bankruptcy 6 months later. They sold all their assets to another company. Now the county can't get the return on the concessions it made and my boss is scrambling to find a tenant after we finished the building to the tenant's specs. Gotta be careful about making sure people who make big job creation promises have s chance of coming through. Hopefully he meets or exceeds his plans.1 point

I have sat and talked with Game Wardens while on the lake when they approached my boat to check registration and all safety equipment and fishing license. I had one of my Bersa's on my hip and they never said a word about it or me being armed while on the water. They ask if the fish were biting and other casual stuff while checking my papers and then told me to have a nice day and moved on.1 point

Finally acquired a WWII Springfreld M1 Garand. Serial number says it's from May 1942 that was rebuilt in 1947. She's greased up and ready to go to the range. I want to get some accessories for it, like a cleaning kit, bayonet, ammo pouch, but I'm trying to not spend more money right now! Hope you enjoy h1 point

I agree that people aren't very observant. These days, when I can legally carry, it is mostly my 642 in a pocket holster. I have a couple of belt holsters (a FOBUS and a home-made, leather pancake holster) for it just because and for times when I still want to go small and light but when pocket carry might not be the best option but I rarely use them. On a couple of occasions I have used them and, as an experiment, went in to a couple of places with no cover garment. While open carrying the little revolver I have had conversations with people who I could tell were totally oblivious to the presence of the gun. I also think part of that comes with experience and familiarity with carrying. When I first started carrying I was constantly 'checking' whatever gun I had on me - whether a small gun in a pocket holster or a larger gun in a belt holster (I do not carry IWB so belt holster means OWB, generally with a season-appropriate cover garment.) If I was carrying OWB and wearing a t-shirt with, say, a thin shirt unbuttoned over it as a cover garment I would constantly catch myself holding my right arm to my side. Now, after having had my HCP for almost nine years - especially since I mostly pocket carry the aforementioned 642 - I don't even think about it most of the time when I am carrying. I am aware that it is there in much the same way that I am aware my keys, cell phone, etc. are on me but I don't dwell on it and think, at least, that I have overcome most of the 'dead giveaway' habits. That personal comfort and familiarity when carrying, along with the small size of the gun, itself probably translated into not drawing undue attention to the fact that I was carrying even when conducting that experiment of open carrying OWB. Of course, the 'chart' in the OP was apparently developed by the NYPD. With the extreme anti-gun and anti-carry climate there I would imagine that if one were carrying it would be difficult for all but the coolest of customers or the most hardened of criminals to remain nonchalant about the fact that they had a firearm concealed upon their person when having any sort of contact with an officer, even just passing him or her on the street.1 point
