  2. Completely legally albeit pushing the boundary of good taste on the suicide vests. I honestly have to take a very Libertarian view of this, which required a step back and a deep breath, and say that if it's legal and it feels a bit like a middle finger at the government, carry on. I seriously doubt anyone is going to Form 4 a suicide vest to use it, let alone to use it for criminal purposes, any more than they are going to Form 4 an SBR for criminal purposes when they can be just as criminal building them without the necessary paperwork.

  3. The thing is, if he is set on making you a victim, he will be more inclined to shoot first then take your stuff if he knows you are armed. If a person can be deterred, then just acknowledging his presence may be enough, that is being situationally aware not staring him down. If he is looking for an easy score, then he wants the element of surprise on his side.

  4. It might be in bad taste but it's a giant middle finger toward the government and I love it.

  5. Saw this in a Facebook group and thought it was funny enough to share here. Basically the folks at Texas Machine Gun & Ordinance (TXMGO) had a fund raiser and raffled off a bottle of Garrison Brothers Texas whiskey which had been serialized, engraved and registered with the BATFE as a Molotov Cocktail which, by law, is a Class III destructive device and can only be produced by a manufacturer under an FFL Type 10 / SOT 2, produced by an individual under a Form 1, transferred to an individual under a Form 4. So for an individual to obtain this someone had to pay the $200 for a tax stamp and do the BATFE wait. I guess it's what you do when you have money to burn. No pun intended.

  7. Plenty for you to think about and have a plan. Tennessee has no laws against “brandishing”; they do have laws against assault. Would a reasonable person (that’s a juror or a Judge; not you) believe you are in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm? If so you are justified in either threatening them with your weapon; or shooting them. Someone giving you the evil eye or walking up on you without displaying a weapon at the pumps does not meet that level. Just because you have a gun doesn’t mean you will survive and it doesn’t mean everyone will fear you. Armed people, both good and bad are killed every day. Pulling your shirt or jacket back might scare off a bad guy. Or it might be an armed violent criminal that wants your vehicle and you just became a dead man walking because he now has the upper hand. If you pay at the pump, you have no reason to cross his path, get in your car, lock the doors and get the hell out of there. I’ll fight or take an azz whipping before I pull a gun on someone. But if someone threatens me with a weapon; I have no problem with using deadly force to save my life or the life of another. But at the end of the day whether you are an HCP holder, cop or citizen with a gun in your car, you have to be prepared to do whatever you need to so you can go home.

  8. Depends on the manner in which you expose your weapon, it may be seen as brandishing by some and an overzealous LEO may agree if called. Personally, I would not show my weapon until I was ready to pull the trigger.

  9. I got my equipment and supplies from my dad. 7 truck loads from his house to mine and still boxes of lead ingots to haul this way. By his notes and invoices I have 3 cases of small pistol magnum primers and 1 case of small rifle magnum primers. Probable twice that much powder. He was big in shooting 38spl, 357, 9mm, 380 auto, 40sw, .223, 30car. and 7.62X39.

  10. It's been a good while since I've actually posted. This is one of the guns I've built most recently and it's quickly become a favorite to shoot. A 25 yard zero is also a 125 yard zero which I love. About the only things that might change are the back up sights so I can get the light closer to the 12 o clock rail, and some paperwork needs to be filed. Anyway, parts are as follows... -Quarter circle 10 lower and bolt -CMT UPUR 2 upper -Ballistic advantage 5.5" barrel -BCM KMR 7" alpha rail -KAK shockwave and tube -PA advance micro dot -Surefire scout mini on Arisaka mount I need to get some better pictures soon I'm currently working on another 9mm AR that takes colt mags with a stripped CMMG MK9 lower. I'll update this post in a few weeks with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Gallatin Gun IDPA will start hosting indoor IDPA matches at Sumner Gun & Supply April 12. We will hold the indoor matches the 2nd and 4th Wednesday nights. Set up starts a 5:00PM with first shots at 6:00PM. We should finish around 9:00PM. I will host these matches until Gallatin Gun Club has a new range built. In the mean time I will train SO's and anybody that wants to part of the Sumner Gun IDPA group to run it's own matches after I resume duties at the new outdoor range. This may take a while, so in the present we will have indoor matches. The first match will have 4 stages, around 70 rounds. Their is a learning curve here as I learn what I can do within the confines of an indoor range. I have limited the first match to 24 guns. I may allow more as we progress. I have opened a entry form on Practiscore; https://practiscore.com/gallatin-gun-idpa-indoor-match/register Match fee is $20. Discount is available to members of the Sumner Gun Range. Payment is to be may at the sales counter of the Gun Store. I have also bought tablets for scoring that will be posted onto Practiscore. Their is a learning cure here also. Robert

  12. Good question! From the Law of Self Defense classes by Andrew Branca I remember discussing five elements needed for a legal self defense claim. They are as follows. Innocence Imminence Avoidance Reasonableness Proportionality If you didn't start the fight you are innocent. By showing your gun you could be perceived as threatening the other party or a third party could assume you are the aggressor. And you might prevent him from choosing you as his next victim. Slippery slope. If the other guy is casing you for a "possible future" attack it will be hard to convince a judge / jury that the attack was imminent. This rapidly changes when he starts walking toward you or follows you. The advice about looking for his buddy is good. If you have an opportunity for avoidance (get in car and drive away or run away), but instead consciously decided to stay in the area where you think the attack is about to happen, you are adding liability that could erode your self defense claim. Having limited mobility, escorting a family member, and being in a kill zone all detract from you ability to avoid the situation. TCA 39-11-611 is worth a read here to somewhat understand the law in TN. Reasonableness is the hardest of the five because it depends largely on the area from which the jury will be pulled that you are showing your gun in. More liberal could = less reasonable from our point of view and vice versa. You have no way to prove what this other person is thinking if they are only staring at you. Proportionality means you match lethal force paired against you with lethal force of your own with a caveat for disparity of force (multiple attackers, big attacker vs little victim, MMA fighter vs disabled...etc). Gun vs stare is not proportional. Gun vs walking at you isn't proportional unless he's a big dude and you are not and he's somehow someway threatening you in a way that you can prove in a court. Gun vs "Hey man, you got a dollar?" still isn't proportional. The race to 911 is real and I don't think it can be underestimated.

  14. Ok. I'm amazed at your system and the mirror edges it produces. I'm sure there's quite a learning curve on using that piece of equipment, however, it's obvious you've got it down to a science.

  18. Dayum...that's speedy customer service! My pleasure. As much you and I butt heads politically, supporting this site is one thing we are in lockstep agreement on. I actually do annual renewals on the premise that after my renewal in 2018, I'll be past 4yrs, and any renewal after that will kick more to the site than a lifetime membership would have otherwise netted it going forward. So, in other words, you're stuck with me.

  21. Now I understand why no one here cares about Trump lying. You guys are not interested in the truth. Just keep posting memes that are not accurate while also throwing out the usual talking ponts that have been proven false. And even when the truth is posted, it's just dismissed as "fake news".

  26. Never have. I use Menzerna Power Lock paint sealant mostly, but have started playing around with Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax too. Both vehicles are disgustingly filthy from having not been washed for a month. I've gotten to where I refuse to spend the time and resources to do it of it's just going to rain or snow within the next few days. And lately that's all it seems to have done.

  27. I've been oiling them and cleaning dust. Certainly want to protect the aging. The bolt action is very interesting to me. That's the one that has bluing rubbed off, I was mistaken originally. The 1897 is in pretty good shape actually, a little surface rust here and there. I'd like to shoot it. I"m going to take it by my local shop and have the gunsmith look it over for any issues that would prohibit shooting.
