Three and a half years ago I met up with a member here on the board and took a puppy home. My daughter was was turning seven and the puppy was meant to be her gift. Bandit was one of the best things that ever happened to our family. I have shared several pictures of her here on the board and the progress of her life. In short she is a spoiled, highly intelligent black lab. Bandit has been trained by vocal and hand signals. She understand basic commands such as sit and stay. Advanced commands such as come to 'here,' go to 'there,' 'jump' and 'up(beg.)' The obvious, 'speak' and 'paw.' She is also bell trained, catches frisbees, fetches, and the like. She sleeps in the bed and her best friend is a cat. I think I counted something like twenty commands she understands, in addition to general desires. Overall, she is a damn good dog. I cannot for the life of me imagine what it would be like without her. So late last year I changed careers, and became a service plumber, as opposed to a Dispatch Manager for the same plumbing company. It was one of the best things I have ever done. Yesterday I got a call to go to a local pet supply chain Feeders Supply. In the process of diagnosing the issue, I was granted access to the Humane Society's onsite kennel/adoption center. Directly in my eyes when I enter, I met a black lab pup. 4 months old. Her first day at this shelter. One day out from being spayed. She had a white chin and a white star on her chest, just like bandit does. I texted the wife immediately. The puppy was on a medical hold, as her file hadn't been updated for her rabies shot. I asked for a hold, and a phone call, and woke up early this morning to take Bandit to meet the puppy. Ensuring that they would both mesh was of utmost importance for both. I got the call this morning en route to the shelter that the medical for the puppy had come in, and she was ready for adoption. I was twenty minutes away. The shelter and the pet supply store were both more than accommodating, allowing us the use of leashes, collars and tethers (which we did purchase at the end,) to see how the two would get along. Bandit is a 70lb lab, and the puppy is approximately 15 to 20lbs. Look at those paws, she will be huge. She came home, and she knew, even yesterday after I spent over and hour with her, and she remembered me this morning, she had a home. Her name is Brigand. And with some work and effort, she and Bandit will be one hell of a dangerous duo.2 points

lots of hate in this thread. The daughter looks like 90% of the young woman who are my customers. She can't be blamed for her parentage. the father is who he is. It isn't his daughters fault. I assume she is looking to a career in modeling. Some of you guys make me shake my head. Nothing like being sanctimonious.2 points

Gunsmithing Services View Advert Hey guys, many of you know me here but I've had a lot of folks inquire about services or see something and not know that I offered that. My biz name is a little misleading I apologize for that. I'm a full service gunsmithing shop that does 99% labor type work. I moved my shop to Oliver Springs a little over a year ago. Things are running great so I wanted to throw this out there in case you need anything I can provide. First and foremost I will work on almost anything. I have been working on guns for 35 years now. Started off at my grandfather's pawn shop back in the early 80s. I moved to Oak Ridge in 2008 and opened Law Enforcement Sales early 2010 and have been steady smithing since. Since inception I have had a 07/02 manufacturing license for both title 1 and title 2 firearms. Began heavily on the LE side but my customer base has grown more than I could have ever imagined and I now do way more work for the general public. Little about me, I have been a commissioned law enforcement officer since 2001, worked 7 years as a SC State Constable working all over the state. I am currently serving as a Sergeant with the Anderson County Sheriff's Department which I joined in 2008 and have been an active Reserve Deputy with them since. I am also a VP at Wells Fargo bank working in their securities/loss area as a Software Engineer. I've compile a list of things I usually work on but again, the sky is the limit. I will 100% be upfront if there is a job I am not comfortable with. I have not done everything but I have found I tend to get the more difficult jobs around the area none of the other smiths want to deal with. I feel my prices are very competitive and I always charge what a job is worth not what my time invested is. Services Sales Affiliated with most the industries distributors. I don't do much retail because of TN's sales tax it's currently impossible to compete with the internet. I want you guys to get the best price you can but I do have those customers who want to buy from me and I don't mind helping search something down and getting it. I am a East TN SilencerCo SPEQ dealer. They offer great prices to LE, Military, First Responders (EMS, etc.). Call for special pricing. They offer a couple times per year this discount to Veterans too. Transfers Title 1 transfers - $20 INCLUDEDs TBI background. I WILL accept transfer in from private parties and it doesn't matter if I can get the item or even have the item in stock - no games! Custom machine a new hammer and recoil assembly. My conversions do not use that ugly recoil rod that most do that has to protrude through the middle of the rear stock. Everything is internal. Tried packing a 6P years ago and it would always find a way to turn itself on. Pocket carry and on the belt in a kydex comp-TAC gave me the same results. After the Fight at Night class I wanted to try a little more lumens so I cut a couple of rings for my lights and so far problem solved. That is Mr. Pickle modeling the light. Now the lights are only temp on with the button and no twist to stay on.1 point

I went and it was a great experience even though we didn't get in. I got in line at 3:30 and the line was a mile long. At 6:30 I was told by a MNPD officer that no one else was being let in, which was a not true. I was still about 4 blocks away so I went ahead and left. I saw only a hand full of protesters, they were mostly getting laughed at. The protesters were way too outnumbered to get rowdy. I will say that listening to Trump's speech on the radio it is refreshing to hear the president talk about doing great things. These last 8 years it seemed that every time the president spoke I was losing a right or having to pay a tax. I just hope that Trump gives his all to accomplish the things that he is setting out to do.1 point

I used to fly fish about 30 years ago. I was fortunate enough to live in Glenwood Springs Colorado back in the early 80's for awhile and fish some of their Gold Medal waters back in the day. I always used a shorter 7.5' fly rod instead of the long ones. It was easier to cast, for me anyway, and I always seemed to get a better hook set. Now I always use ultra light or light weight spinning gear. I just got back actually from getting my Sportsman's license and that is one of the reasons. I plan on hunting a great deal more this year and begin fishing for trout so the Sportsman's was worth it for once. The Hiwassee is a great trout stream for sure and there have been some really nice ones come out of there at times. Another good area for trout is Tellico Plains area. There's also an awesome museum in TP that has just about every kind of firearm made from way back in history. It's really worth the time to go through it. Nice fish by the way. They are delicious grilled on a charcoal (not gas) grill with a touch of lemon pepper on them while they cook.1 point

If they are asking that, does anyone know what will happen with a lifetime permit? I wish I still looked the same now as say 30, but my kids ask me who the crazy long haired guy is in the old pics, that looks like someone from Narcos on Netflix. Point is, if you get a lifetime at 30, I doubt your pic is valid at 60. Does the life time permit have a pic?1 point

Funny, my wife "borrowed" my first P320. I picked up a second, and also got her the small grip module. Now I'll never get it back, the other day we were joking around about it and she told me that she had traded me her M&P Shield for it... She certainly shoots the SIG better. I have a hard time just giving up on any gun but those that I have sent down the road did so because they didn't fit in in some way. I wouldn't be too quick about getting rid of anything if you can afford not to. After all it only took me most of 20 years to like a poly striker pistol.1 point

Wife drives this more than I do. Honestly, I love the speed and the handling, but hate getting into and out of it. I bang my head on the roof of it every single time. I think another SRT Jeep is in our future.1 point

so for nymphing I always start small. 18,20. if those don't work, change, go smaller, go bigger. most often smaller is better. For dry flies use your eyes. I don't fish dries unless I see bugs coming off. Then just try to match the size. Also, it's river-dependent. Some rivers have some large prince nymphs or scuds others don't. If you catch a fish you can pump its stomach and see. Put a tube or turkey baster in their stomach as see what they've been eating. Check the water edges around rocks and see what bugs you can find. Lastly, ask, Some fly-fishers are assholes, and won't tell you but I subscribe to the idea that if we want to maintain the sport we have to teach others to catch fish. So, first stop is the nearest fly shop to the river, they will for sure give you fly advice (buy some flies as a thank you). Second, ask anyone near you on the river.1 point

I did research on one of the Revelation rifles I was looking to buy a while back. One thing I found said: "The Revelation Model 125 is a variant of the Mossberg Model 353." I can't confirm for sure, but the look alike on Numrich. Might compare the mag part #. Hopefully this narrows down the models. These "store guns" were notorious for being a cheaper (cheaper wood for stocks was one big thing) version of a popular model, but sometimes they would switch up makers and not swap the model name or number. I have seen that talked about some. Some of the books seem to not even make footnotes about these models.1 point

I do have a M&P shield that I carry outside the truck. What I want to conceal in the truck is a full sized/hi cap 40. Have you ever tried to draw from your hip while sitting in your truck? With the console on one side and the door on the other it takes quite a bit longer than a standing hip draw on the street.1 point

In Iraq and Syria, ISIS is using Radio Shack quality remote control drones to carry munitions. I saw video of it in a PBS Frontline episode. This is going to become a standard capability threat from the bad guys that will need to be planned for, countered, and doing it with Patriot missiles just isn't affordable, it's not practical considering how many we (don't) have to deploy around the world. Time for Stinger/Avenger equipped ADA units to get out of detainee ops and the guard towers, and back to the drawing board on how to support Brigade and Below from this kind of threat.1 point

Aha, a new wrinkle. I suppose that will happen periodically with the lifetime too, then. Though I'm confused about the interaction with TDL regarding the picture. I haven't had to update either in I dunno, going on ten years now I guess. - OS1 point

Greece, NY about a half-hour outside Rochester. Was 1-town over from where I used to live. FWIW, the winter snow had all melted. What you see is just what fell in the last 36-or-so-hours. .... Yup. And they don't make moonshine up there either? Weird how some people live? (that being said, I'd kill for some Molson Tall-boys! Used to keep them outside near the woodpile, man, that was good stuff). - K1 point

They are great fun to shoot and pretty fast handling. I outfitted mine with vintage buttstock mag pouch. Adds a bit of weight when you put two full mags in it, but I like the way it looks and it's handy. You'll want an original type sling as well. Killed a skunk with mine a couple of years ago. Dropped him in his tracks.1 point

I daily drive a `13 V6 Mustang, 305BHP. That is enough for a daily driver. I am really keen on the new V8 `18 Mustangs though. I am waiting to see the ratings on those. I get a kick out of the HP wars. I owned an `87 Pontiac Trans Am GTA. It might have had like 200BHP, at most. I am too lazy to look it up. But it was the top of the line car in it's age. Modern V6's put it to shame, but they are snubbed because they aren't a V8. I have been a proponent for a while (and on here as well) about square turbo engines. But let me tell you, displacement is not the answer anymore. However, a square, turbo V8 in a domestic RWD 'Pony' care would make my knees weak. There is nothing that has the sound of a V8 sucking it's air fuel mixture through a carb. However that isn't the world we live in today. An odd fire V8 still sounds good, but fuel injection killed it. If you want to buy a car for sound, that is one thing. I bought my V6 Mustang on the basis of $24k for a 300BHP car that gets 30MPG on the highway was un-freaking-believable when I was a young lad lusting over Countach's and Grand Nationals posted on the wall. Although there is a part of me that gets very aroused at the idea of a 700+ BHP FACTORY, turnkey car, with a warranty. However, it is not my wallet.1 point

I've only had one fast vehicle and it was a 1970 Chevy pickup with a 400 4 bolt main. My uncle bought it from a friend of his, then sold it to me. His friend built race car motors and was known in SE MO for his talent with GM motors especially the 400. It scared my uncle a little for me to have it since I was only 19 and he remembered how stupid he would have been with that much power in a truck that young. I never wrecked it but I never left a stopped position in a calm manner either lol. I'll try and find an old picture and scan it. It was not a beautiful truck, rather plain looking which added to the surprise. The guy who built it also had an exact duplicate of it in his garage that was showroom quality with even more horsepower. It would make a grown man cry when he started it up and you could eat off of any part of the truck it was so clean. Man I miss that truck!1 point

I have owned many fast classic cars in my life. My favorite was my 67 chevy p/u. I went through and got every Hp out of a 350 i could and that thing was faster than most of the cars brought to the strip I raced at. I knew my limitations but did not loose many races. I havent had a fun car since the kids, that is about to change! I am tired of driving a minivan. Wife finnaly agreed to me building an everyday International Scout. She has no idea what she just agreed to. I will be picking up the LS1 engine and trans this week and will be looking at a couple of Scouts next week. It is going to be a lot of work just on the drive train. I will be slapping a cheap paint job on it just to not offend the HOA more than I need to. I am hoping by summer it will be on the road!
