Adding to the list - here is another unique OLD 1911 you just don't see every day. This is a Spanish Llama "EXTRA" (Model VII) made in 1933. It says 9mm/38 on the side of the slide, but it refers to 9mm Largo (9x23mm) and not 9mm Luger/Parabellum (9x19mm). The .38 refers to .38 ACP, not Super. These old Llama's are not the cheap stuff Stoeger imported from the 1950's to today. These are real, tried n true, war horses that are a find when they come up. Significantly under-appreciated series, if you are looking for one. I've been fortunate to capture a couple of these . . . non-import marked . . . .4 points

I was looking through some pictures for something totally unrelated to this but when I saw this one it reminded me of this thread. It's my S&W 1905 Hand Ejector 1st change. Barrel is marked 32 WCF also know as 32-20 Winchester and .32 Colt Lightning.2 points

I apparently have too much time to waste at the moment so I clicked on the reviews and this was the fist I read. This review is from: Veet for Men Hair Removal Gel Creme 200ml (1) (Health and Beauty) After having been told my danglies looked like an elderly Rastafarian I decided to take the plunge and buy some of this as previous shaving attempts had only been mildly successful and I nearly put my back out trying to reach the more difficult bits. Being a bit of a romantic I thought I would do the deed on the missus's birthday as a bit of a treat. I ordered it well in advance and working in the North sea I consider myself a bit above some of the characters writing the previous reviews and wrote them off as soft office types...oh my fellow sufferers how wrong I was. I waited until the other half was tucked up in bed and after giving some vague hints about a special surprise I went down to the bathroom. Initially all went well and I applied the gel and stood waiting for something to happen. I didn't have long to wait. At first there was a gentle warmth which in a matter of seconds was replaced by an intense burning and a feeling I can only describe as like being given a barbed wire wedgie by two people intent on hitting the ceiling with my head. Religion hadn't featured much in my life until that night but I suddenly became willing to convert to any religion to stop the violent burning around the turd tunnel and what seemed like the destruction of the meat and two veg. Struggling to not bite through my bottom lip I tried to wash the gel of in the sink and only succeeded in blocking the plughole with a mat of hair. Through the haze of tears I struggled out of the bathroom across the hall into the kitchen by this time walking was not really possible and I crawled the final yard to the fridge in the hope of some form of cold relief. I yanked the freezer drawer out and found a tub of ice cream, tore the lid of and positioned it under me. The relief was fantastic but only temporary as it melted fairly quickly and the fiery stabbing soon returned .Due to the shape of the ice cream tub I hadn't managed to give the starfish any treatment and I groped around in the drawer for something else as I was sure my vision was going to fail fairly soon.I grabbed a bag of what I later found out was frozen sprouts and tore it open trying to be quiet as I did so.I took a handful of them and tried in vain to clench some between the cheeks of my arse. This was not doing the trick as some of the gel had found it's way up the chutney channel and it felt like the space shuttle was running it's engines behind me. This was probably and hopefully the only time in my life I was going to wish there was a gay snowman in the kitchen which should give you some idea of the depths I was willing to sink to in order to ease the pain. The only solution my pain crazed mind could come up with was to gently ease one of the sprouts where no veg had gone before. unfortunately, alerted by the strange grunts coming from the kitchen the other half chose that moment to come and investigate and was greeted by the sight of me, arse in the air, strawberry ice cream dripping from my bell end pushing a sprout up my arse while muttering..." Ooooh that feels good ". Understandably this was a shock to her and she let out a scream and as I hadn't heard her come in it caused an involuntary spasm of shock in myself which resulted in the sprout being ejected at quite some speed in her direction. I can understand that having a sprout farted against your leg at 11 at night in the kitchen probably wasn't the special surprise she was expecting and having to explain to the kids the next day what the strange hollow in the ice cream was didn't improve my status...So to sum it up Veet removes hair, dignity and self respect...:)2 points

The Tennessee Turkey Hunter . . . . . . An 80 year old Tennessee man went to the doctor for a check up and the doctor was amazed at what good shape the guy was in. The doctor asked, "To what do you attribute your good health?" The old timer said, "I'm a turkey hunter, that's why I'm in such good shape. I'm up well before daylight and out chasing turkeys up and down the mountains." The doctor said, "Well, I'm sure that helps, but there has got to be more to it. How old was your dad when he died?" The old timer said, "Who said my dad's dead?" The doctor said, "You mean you're 80 years old and your dad's still alive? How old is he?" The old timer said, "He's 100 years old and in fact he hunted turkey with me this morning, and that's why he's still alive... he's a turkey hunter." The doctor said, "Well, that's great, but I'm sure there's more to it than that. How about your dad's dad? How old was he when he died?" The old timer said, "Who said my grandpa's dead?" The doctor said, "You mean you're 80 years old and your grandfather's still living! How old is he?" The old timer said, "He's 118 years old." The doctor was getting frustrated at this point and said, "I guess he went turkey hunting with you this morning too?" The old timer said, "No . . . Grandpa couldn't go this morning because he got married." The Doctor said in amazement, "Got married!! Why would a 118-year-old guy want to get married?" The old timer said, "Who said he wanted to?"1 point

Lifesavers . . . . . A teacher brought a bowl of candy to share with her 1st Grade students. The children were asked to identify the flavors by their color: Red....................Cherry Yellow................Lemon Green..................Lime Orange ..............Orange Finally the teacher gave them all HONEY lifesavers. None of the children could identify the taste. The teacher said, "OK, I will give you all a clue. It's what your mother may sometimes call your father." One little girl looked up in horror, spit her lifesaver out and yelled, "Oh my God! They're ass-holes!" The teacher had to leave the room....1 point

New Boots . . . . ! An elderly couple, Sam and Bessie, are from Austin, Texas. Sam always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots. Seeing some on sale one day, he buys them, and is walking proudly all the way home. He walks into the house and says to his wife, "Notice anything different about me?" Bessie looks him over, "Nope." Frustrated Sam storms off into the bathroom, undresses, and walks back into the room completely naked except for the boots. Again he asks, a little louder this time, "Notice anything DIFFERENT NOW?" Bessie looks up and says, "Sam, what's so different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, and it'll be hanging down again tomorrow." Furious, Sam yells, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT'S HANGING DOWN BESSIE? IT'S HANGING DOWN BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AND ADMIRING MY NEW COWBOY BOOTS!" To which Bessie replies, ever so slowly, "Ya shoulda bought a hat, Sam. Ya shoulda bought a hat."1 point

What is interesting about these "Extra's" (and why they were called that) is they are actually a "long slide" 1911. They were probably the first 1911 style pistol that sported a barrel longer than the standard 1911 5.0" barrel. To date, I have been able to snag four of these old Llama's and a couple more interesting newer ones. I've actually got two of the EXTRA models. Here is the lineup as of today. Llama Model IV (a rare one) - 5.5" barrel - 1941 - 9mm LUGER (this one looks to have been re-chambered long ago, was manufactured as 9mm Largo) Llama Model V - 5.0" barrel - 1944 - 9mm Largo/.38 Super (certified rated for the higher pressure ammo) Llama Extra Model VII - 5.5" barrel - 1933 - 9mm Largo/.38 ACP Llama Extra Model VII - 5.5" barrel - 1936 - 9mm Largo/.38 ACP Llama Model IX-A - 5.0" barrel - 1977 - .45 ACP (this one sports a "white metal" finish - I think the bluing was polished off and some protective coating applied, but more research into it is needed) Llama Model XI-B - 4.25" commander barrel - 1981 - 9mm Luger (pristine condition) I just realized that I need to take more photos of this collection. I only have five of the six showing. The one that is missing is the youngest, the Model XI-B in 9mm Luger (1981). Llama Model IV (1941) Llama Model V (1944) Llama EXTRA Model VII (1933)1 point

I know you said your looking for a revolver but if you go the the Semi auto route and you know someone that owns a Phoenix HP22 you may want to shoot it some if they will let you borrow it. I have one for a pocket pistol and have been to the range with it many times and it never fails to please me more each time I shoot it. Not fancy, not a real brand name and costs about $149.00 new and the gun is more gun than many people think it is. It holds 10+1 in the tube and mine has never failed feed or fire with about any brand of ammo............Just might be an option to look at.............JMHO1 point

Yea I knew that Garufa as I did a bunch of research on it right after I got it. When I first got it back years ago I really enjoyed shooting it but as the years have passed it goes to the range less and less. It's a lot of firearm for a man that is about half what he was 10 years ago when it comes to strenght. It take me both hands and a lot of grip to squeeze off rounds from it these days. My son has spoke up and said when I got ready to get rid of it he wanted it and I told him he would get it when I was ready. Just not ready yet...................1 point

S&W M63 or S&W 317 Kit Gun both have 3" barrels, the 63 weighs 24 oz and the 317 about 12oz get ready for well over $600.00 then tax and background. Then there is the hammerless 43C which will be at 600.00 after fees. I'm a big Ruger fan but not a fan of the .22LR LCR or SP101. I am not a fan of Charter either. Switch to .22LR semi auto pistols and there are a whole bunch of them that run pretty darn good at prices much easier on the wallet. I second Nightrunner's recommendation of the Ruger MK and Browning Buckmark. Hard to beat those at the price. I had a lot of fun with the Phoenix HP22, tinkered with it a bit and it shot so well someone else had to have it worse then me.1 point

Thanks for that, if I remember correctly we went the archives route the first time but after doing some research if you served during a certain time period your files were kept in a place that caught fire back in the 70's I think and that caused some issues I could be wrong Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk1 point

People will spend their money on anything, I guess. If I am going to spray crap in my holster to "make my draw faster" I'm going to use Bacon Infused Olive Oil because it's better for the environment and if hunger strikes me while I'm in the middle of some serious Pew Pew action, I can eat my leather holster.1 point

I have a Ruger LCR .22 that I like, recently bought the Ruger SP101, I like it but it shoots a little rough not sure if it just needs more use to work in or if it is just the way it is. The LCR is nice because if you want a larger caliber they feel much the same, I have one in 9mm and have been tempted to pick up a .357. They feel very similar till you feel the kick. Semi, lots to choose from but I really like my Ruger SR22 for a small pistol. Also have the new Ruger Mark IV and it is a nice shooter.1 point

The thing is, is a quality firearm is a quality firearm. It's not going to automatically be cheaper just because it's a .22lr. Quality .22s aren't airsoft quality or priced accordingly. Having said that, I, personally, won't step below Ruger on the quality scale for revolvers. A SP101 or Bearcat won't be super cheap but you will get your money's worth. S&Ws are more expensive but you get even more gun for your money IMO. Colts are just ridiculously priced IMO. For a semi auto, hard to beat a Ruger Mark or Browning Buckmark. For a polymer pistol, I can't recommend the S&W M&P22 Compact enough. Perfect IMO.1 point

Common mod if you want to use a rifle tube on a pistol config. Or you could use a KNS takedown pin and do away with spring and detente altogether:1 point

The Coyote Principal - or why Texas ain't broke and Commifornia is . . . . . California The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the Governor. The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural. He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it. He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases. The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged. The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals. The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "coyote awareness program" for residents of the area. The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world. The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training regarding the nature of coyotes. PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state. Texas The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog. The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge. The buzzards eat the dead coyote. And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.1 point

I've rescheduled with the owner for a demo next month so I can have more detailed information after I put my hands on it. The friend that went in my stead shot the pistol version. He stated the pistol had practically zero recoil and mostly in the form of a rearward push vs muzzle rise. He was able to run mags as fast as he could accurately engage, and had no malfunctions of any type. Slow, steady fire at 25 and 50 yards the pistol was extremely accurate, with an unmeasured "golf ball sized" group after a complete magazine (I didn't ask whether it was match or bulk .45). Trigger pull out of the box felt, to him, more smooth and somewhat lighter than a standard AR, but not like a match trigger. Most of the gun, mags included, are proprietary. Per one of the owners, this was done to ensure quality control with their system. I can understand that as most people won't care that a bad aftermarket mag or incorrect combination of aftermarket buffer and spring is causing a malfunction. They would just know that "the gun won't shoot" and it'll be bad reviews and sold down the road. However, the part most of us care about, the trigger/FCG is replaceable with standard AR trigger components. Meaning you can go by that sweet BRAND X AR trigger you love and drop it in this. All told it was a positive review from a trusted friend, and I'll confirm it in a few weeks when I send rounds downrange with it.1 point

There are a couple of YouTube videos of the 50 Thunder being fired and they are a little snappy to say the least. I've never fired any of Big magnum pistol calibers like the Casulls, S&W 460 or the 500 but I do have a T/C in the 45-70 Govt. that will get your attention with a 405 grain projectile. Not a great photo but these are mine. The one on the bottom is my .35 Remington deer hunting pistol, it's relatively tame compared to the 45-70 Govt.1 point

The Little White Dot . . . . A kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out something "exciting" and relate it to the class the next day. When the time came to present what they'd found, the first little boy the teacher called on walked up to the front of the class and with a piece of chalk, made a small white dot on the blackboard and then sat back down. Puzzled, the teacher asked him what it was. "It's a period," he replied. "I can see that," said the teacher, "but what is so 'exciting' about a period?" "Darned if I know," he said, "but this morning my sister was missing one. Mommy fainted, Daddy had a heart attack, and the boy next door joined the Navy."1 point

Rose . . . . An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.' The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?' The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What's the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know, the one that's red and has thorns.' 'Do you mean a rose?' 'Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Hey Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'1 point
