That's exactly what I was thinking. All that went through my mind reading it was this video (i'm sure we've all seen it)2 points

You shot a 50 bmg at steel at 100 yards? I think I know how your obituary will read.2 points

I stopped by a friends pawn shop today to browse & spotted something that I apparently couldn't live without for another day. A stainless Ruger P89 in 9mm in really nice condition. I've never owned or even had the chance to shoot one, but most of what I hear from owners is positive. It certainly has a hefty feel & I like the grips. I regret selling my P95DC a few years back without ever shooting it. I'll make sure this one gets some range time.1 point

I have a 29 that is a bit nicer than that one, or else I'd still have it. I really like the big ole N frames.1 point

Here's your sign or hold my beer watch this! I don't think there's much to worry about shooting FMJ at 1/4-3/8" plate at 100yrds, I'd be more concerned shooting at 3/4"+ plate at 100-200yrds with FMJ, including API, I usually lean my plate back just in case...1 point

As soon as you tie any right to the US or any State constitution, you lose. Rights are not gifts of government, any government. Rights are the sole property (inasmuch as an intangible can be 'property') of the people as individuals and any form of government can only legitimately be ceded powers to act on behalf of those people to protect their rights. The government does not possess any rights that are not the people's first and revocable at any time.1 point

The DA can very easily prove that the truck driver was not in fear for his life. If he had been in fear for his life he would have shot/shot at the bad guys and not into the air. As for him having a reasonable fear after they came back and shot at him, obviously - but the way the article is written it seems he fired shots into the air before the bad guys shot at his truck, not after. Finally, IANAL but I don't believe that state preemption applies because shooting into the air is not a 'self defense' shooting - shooting or shooting at the bad guys is self defense shooting. If the situation was such that the driver felt okay giving warning shots then he wasn't in that great of an amount of fear for his life. As DaveTN said, the real problem is that the driver couldn't (legally) shoot someone for burglarizing his truck.1 point

Man, KnifeCenter is fast! I placed my order on Thursday around lunch time, got an email from them on Thursday evening that the order had shipped and my new D2 RAT 1 showed up in my mail box on Saturday. First impressions? I think that D2 really is noticeably different from Aus 8, even just right out of the box. My Aus 8 RAT 1 with the Ontario logo on the blade has barely - and I mean really, barely - been used, as in maybe peeling an apple or two and slicing some cheese, once. It has also been stropped - not sharpened, just stropped the factory edge. My Aus 8 RAT 1 with the Randall's Adventure Training logo on the blade has never been carried or used and hangs out in a drawer still in its original box and bubble wrap. It has been out of the box, opened and closed a few times and then put back in the box so the edge on it is still exactly as it came unused from the factory. Just feeling the edge with my finger tips the D2 is noticeably sharper, right from the factory. Now, is this because the D2 version is a 'special edition' and they pay more attention to sharpening them? I don't think so - the factory edges look identical so I really think that the D2 simply takes a better/sharper edge even at the factory. Not that the AUS 8 versions are 'dull' just that the edge on the D2 version feels as sharp right out of the box as many knives feel after I have spent time sharpening, honing and stropping them. The D2 RAT 1 is in my pocket, today, and probably will be for a few days, at least so I can see how it holds an edge with my usage over time. Here is a group pic of all three. Sorry the pic is a little blurry - I took several but my cell phone just didn't like the lighting, apparently. I am really liking the coyote brown scales:1 point

So one guy is cranking rounds into the air, the other guy came back and starts cranking rounds into the truck. They are afraid to shoot each other, but are okay with making it pretty dangerous for anyone else in the area. Jeeze Of course the real problem here is that the driver couldn’t shoot someone burglarizing his truck. But he could have when he came back with the gun.1 point

My neighbor and I was out browsing pawn shops back before Christmas and he wanted to go to Gander Mtn so we did. I saw they had 22LR SV on sale at a decent price so I bought a couple of boxes. The next week I was at Academy and they had the same thing for .25 less a box regular price. The moral is that Gander Mtn. sale prices are still higher than Academy's regular price.1 point
