I've not done any business with Home Depot in quite a few years but went to one in town today looking for a battery powered leaf blower since they had several models on sale. I'd gone to one of the Lowes stores yesterday and been disappointed at the lack of selection and no one offering to help me. Today what I later learned was one of the store managers noticed me trying to find a product in the lawn equipment section and asked me if I needed help finding a product. When I told him what I was looking for he took me straight to them, discussed product selection to me an noticed a better sale item on a better product then I was looking for and pointed it out to me. I was impressed that someone knew how to do their job. Then when he found out I was looking for a small gas grill he told me he had just what I needed and took me to a grill they weren't going to carry this season that had already been marked down to $149.00 and offered to let me have it for $100.00 if I wanted it. Then he and another employee loaded the grill and leaf blower into the back of my truck while I placed items in the cab. Needless to say I appreciated it and asked if he was a manager and confirmed I'd guessed correctly. I remember when customer service was awful at that store so I'm glad to see it doing better. I also remember when customer service was better at Lowes and hope to see it improve.5 points

I was playing around in my garage, trying to create something unique for my 1911 collection. I had this idea. This is how it turned out . . . . . (photo heavy)2 points

The problem with Tennessee is that you cannot (without buying a permit) openly or conceal carry any sort of firearm outside of certain exceptions like vehicle or home. It can probably be said in most states that requiring folks to buy a permit to CONCEAL still allows people to bear arms because they can openly carry for free.1 point

Cool car, what mods did he make? Mostly I'm curious if he upgraded the differential. In my automotive days, I worked on development of the CTS-V. I got to go for a ride in a prototype "super CTS-V" that had the blown LS from the Z06 the they said they'd boosted up near 600 hp. Problem was, they couldnt get the diff to live very long and the bosses wouldn't buy off on a caddy with more power than the vette, so it never saw the light of day. It was a fun ride though.1 point

Not terribly uncommon. Ruger seems to be the only company that announces on the same day (or after) they begin shipping.1 point

As a small business owner for over 10 years now, bingo. I would disagree with the hard work statement as I think people misunderstand that. It's not just about hard work (hours or physical labor, one or both will apply) it's about smart work and most of the time, risk. I took a great risk 10 years ago and am now seeing the benefits. People want zero risk and want to put zero smart effort into their jobs these days. The ones that do are making good money.1 point

If you have ever had to make payroll, you'll get it. If you have ever had to make out P&L statements, you'll get it. If you ever had the Gooberment stick their hands in everything your small business does, you'll get it. Higher wages should be based on merit (merit = hard work) not the over reaching hand of the Gooberment.1 point

Yeah, I think I took a few years off my life with that period of time and the schedule but it needed to be done. Needed more money, wanted some more guns too. Went to work.1 point

I've been using Amazon since 2002. They're not always the lowest price, but they're pretty close 9 times out of 10, and the time/frustration savings at being able to skip the store are a value in itself. It must kill some of you that the free market is favoring more than a few companies owned and run by liberals.1 point

It's kinda funny. I started buying from Amazon when they were actually a book store. That's it, just books.1 point

Oh, as am I... but my first discovery of Bill Nelson's work was "Live in the Air Age"... bought the album right after it came out, because the album-rock station (remember those?) that I listened to in Birmingham had played it in its entirety one evening, and I thought "Wow... this is a bit like prog, a bit like glam, and a bit like jazz... cool!" From there, I worked my way through the catalog, but the Live album is still probably my favorite, as it has great tunes from most of their studio albums, and the engineering & production is surprisingly good for a live album. I was already a Roxy Music fan, and BeBop Deluxe was sort of a natural progression from there, only with much cooler guitar work. Anyway, probably my single most favorite BeBob Deluxe song is from the Axe Victim album...1 point
