  1. This old war horse 1918 Colt was the brainchild of the little know "smith" Wade Wilson. This Colt sports his signature finish, perfected over time and with a LOT of assistance by Mother Nature. When I saw this one, I had to have it. Despite it's rugged manly appearance, it shoots like hot grease on ice. I wish this one could talk . . . . According to the original seller: "Made in 1918 for use in WWI. Marked United States Property. Lots of wear and battle scars -- per the last owner, it was used in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Lots of history here. Still pulls tight groups, and has never malfunctioned in my hands." I was able to contact the ORIGINAL seller. He said it was a bring home by his Dad from Vietnam. It has the AA arsenal stamps in it. Slide is probably older than the frame. It is stamped MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY on the right side of the slide. Looks like the thumb safety and grip safety had probably rusted in place and have been replaced, but they also look period correct - not new. They have much less pitting in them. Original seller also swears his Dad claimed that this one saw service in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Of course, I ain't got nothing in writing proving this. I am thinking THIS one spent some considerable time in the Pacific theater during WWII. And don't forget, Korea and the jungles of Vietnam of course . . . . This one does bear the "AA" Augusta Armory stamp on the left side of the frame, indicating it had been rebuilt at the arsenal at least once. I am thinking that is when the thumb and grip safeties were replaced. Internally, it is worn a bit, but still tighter than a new Colt. Slide action feels good. Firing pin and spring look new also, but the firing pin stop looks original, or old. So, whadda y'all think of this old Wade Wilson Deadpool Customs special . . . . . ?

  3. I don't have a favorite gun, but this struck me as funny. Last winter, my family stopped in at a Cabela's store for something. My two sons were looking around at the ammo shelf. They seemed quite surprised to find there was ammo for sale that fit their deer rifles.....257 Roberts. They also seemed shocked at the price....$2 plus a pop! I'd never thought about it, but until that time, they weren't aware factory ammunition was available for their rifles. Every round they've ever shot, they'd loaded themselves. It's funny what you take for granted kids know, that they actually don't know.

  4. Well here they are....my versions of a Karambit. First off is a matched pair or 1/4" thick 1095 carbon steel. The have African Blackwood scales and SS pins. It's about 9 1/4" long with a 4 1/4" blade. It has a pattern etched into the blade but my picture taking apparently sticks cause it's a bit hard to see it. It has thumb and heel jimping and is a stout and dangerous blade. You can see some of the rock pattern ground into the spine as well. They come with black kydex sheaths. Note....there are some lines on a couple of pictures that are not on the blades. Next is a lighter pair made from 3/16" thick 1095 carbon steel with a different handle shape and Bubinga scales and mosaic pins. The over all grip is less that the previous set but still very good. It also has a pattern etched into the blade and slightly less rock pattern grinding on the spine. It does have thumb jimping on the spine as well. It is also 9 1/4" long but the blade is a bit longer at 4 3/4". It also comes with black kydex sheaths.

  5. I've got a pistol that never gets used (all of the others were lost in a boating accident), and have a trust set up with some other toys in it already. All the trust toys are stored at my place here in TN. Sister is on the trust, but she lives in KY. I want to add the rarely used pistol to the trust and store it at her location in KY. Is that kosher? Not selling it to her, it's getting donated to the trust and she is a trustee so she'll be able to use it. The class III stuff I know has to stay at my place, not sure on standard firearms though. She has a copy of all trust documents. Any info is appreciated.

  6. Thanks for the suggestion as I welcome them for sure. I've decided on a re-curve and have been looking at those and SA Sports both and others. I think about $250 is going to be my limit. I know re-curves are harder to cock, but I've tried a friends and it wasn't that bad. I'll be getting a string cocker for whatever I buy for sure. I also have a really nice red dot sight I've had several years that I could put on it. I'm going to bid my time and wait on a deal that's for sure.

  10. Barnett makes pretty good quality crossbows. I have been using one the past few seasons. It's been pretty solid and no issues. Cocking it does take some upper body strength so I would recommend one of the assistants that you can add on into the stock of the crossbow. Plus that way if you forgot your crossbow cocker when out in the field it's not an issue. Some come with decent optics and some not. Looking to change out my crosshair optic with a red dot. 12. As a small business owner for over 10 years now, bingo. I would disagree with the hard work statement as I think people misunderstand that. It's not just about hard work (hours or physical labor, one or both will apply) it's about smart work and most of the time, risk. I took a great risk 10 years ago and am now seeing the benefits. People want zero risk and want to put zero smart effort into their jobs these days. The ones that do are making good money.

  13. Funny, I only own two Kimbers. There are other manufacturers of 1911's I prefer way more, and for a variety of reasons. One of my two Kimbers is a 10mm, the other is a .38 Super . . . .

  14. Doesn't exactly address your question, but I browse mainly via my phone and use Chrome. I hate Tapatalk. I think the site automatically serves me the mobile links, as the phone pages look and act differently than the pages I see on a PC. That is my preferred way to view the site when not at my PC. I do have a tablet, and my viewing preferences on it are the same as my phone. I don't use it often

  16. You are welcome. I’ve been through this myself. The TBI was pretty much worthless, saying they couldn’t give me any specific information and even though the denials were overturned they can’t keep records. Believe it or not the BATF was who helped me. They told me exactly what was going on and how to fix it.

  18. That is very cool. I would imagine that a lot of shoppers would have passed it over because of how it looks but, as you pointed out, that is perhaps the one thing about it that makes it so very unique.

  20. I already had, and shot my S&W 686 and Colt Series 80 45 acp in '87 when I started handloading. I initially started simply because I wanted to learn the process and develop options. I handload now because I can craft ammo to meet my perceived specific needs or wants and I can at this point actually save money doing so. As a group of three we cast, powder coat, and handload primarily for 9mm. These loads are tailored to the velocity and accuracy that we are all quite pleased with. I realize some folks complain, or at least express concern over the time involved. I thoroughly enjoy the process of handloading...it's my "Zen" thing. But we can produce 9mm for at or less than most .22 LR sells for. Bulk purchased components allows us to not have to worry much about shortages during the last 2 panic periods...they'll show up again I venture to guess... I can also load quality accurate 5.56 brass cased ammo (purchased projectiles on sale with free shipping) for around $0.17/round. I'm happy with that. So I guess I already had the "chicken" and have added a few over the years...but really enjoy working with the "egg".

  21. There are actually a couple series of guns that are called "Sistema's." The most notable are the DGFM-FMAP 1911's that were made in Argentina for the various branches of the military. There were a little over 1.5 Million of these guns produced between 1945 and when production stopped in 1966. Obviously, the earlier guns made in the 1945 to 1950 years will be more war worn and harder to find in good condition than those produced after 1950. Then there are the Argentinian Colt contract Sistema's that were fully made here in the USA in Hartford, CT and sent to Argentina in small lots between the years of 1927 and 1933. Colt made and shipped only 10,000 of those guns for the contract. Those were manufactured between 1927 and 1928 exclusively, after which Colt engineer supervised the set up of Argentinian manufacturing, licensed the design, and trained Argentinian nationals to make them for themselves. No one knows how many of these original 10,000 guns have survived to today. Finding them in shootable condition, with all matching serial numbers, is a daunting task. Here are a few photos of mine, a true 1927 manufacture, serial numbers matching, Hartford MFG Argentinian Contract Colt - #4,921 of 10,000

  22. Man, you just brought up some memories. The Sistema in the OP was bought by Mike.357. It then went to Mark@Sea. Suntzu was the next owner. I remember it well as I fondled it all the way up to Mark's house back in the day. It was an excellent specimen with a very unique serial number...and a loose rear sight.

  25. A pass thru is desirable. More damage and easier for them to bleed out. An arrow that goes half way in and stays effectively seals the wound and it takes a lot longer for the deer to bleed out. They can cover a lot of distance with the extra time.

  27. I would assume the article was referencing 80% receivers. There is nowhere that I am aware of to buy a kit gun without needing to buy the receiver or lower from a FFL dealer or holder.Articles like this are completely slanted and omit a lot of the truths on purpose as to mislead the unknowing. I have almost quit reading any news considering I can't believe a thing I read.

  28. This just means they are running out of things to get people riled up, guns are always a failsafe story for them. The media is running around flailing their arms right now because they have no clue what to do with Trump. Hell, the HuffPo has resorted to publishing satire stories on their website. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-schlarmann/betsy-devos-orders-immediate-flattening-of-all-school-globes_b_14639376.html By the end of Trump's term, I expect most of the liberal media to look exactly like Mad Magazine did back in the 80's.

  29. This is a Husqvarna m1907 Swedish Military / m07 Civilian Pistol - chambered in .380 ACP Based on Browning "No. 2" design, or the FN Model 1903, this pre-1911 style pistol was produced by Husqvarna in Sweden after Germany occupied Belgium and cut off Sweden's supply. Browning also licensed his No.2 design to Colt, which resulted in the production of the Colt Pocket Hammerless pistols in both .32 & .38 ACP. This little beauty is a civilian model I believe . . . . . . Enjoy . . . . .

  31. If anyone in the Knoxville area wants to see a display of 1911's that's sure to make you drop to your knees and shout "Praise be!" go over to SIA (Security Investment Appraisals) on Middlebrook Pike. One of the owners has dedicated an entire room of that very nice shop to his personal collection of milsurp goodies including probably 40 or so old 1911's. I didn't count them all but it is a lot! All in excellent condition. It's really a beautiful sight.

  33. That’s up to the individual based on where they are and the education they have to decide. If EBT cards is an issues it doesn’t sound like you are in a skilled trades or manufacturing environment. If they can go somewhere else and get more money; they should do it. Is your company employing illegals? With the state of Tennessee handing out College tuition to almost anyone that wants it (at our expense) there is no excuse for anyone with the least little bit of drive or work ethic to not be able to better themselves. I don’t care if you have employees making the $7.25 hr minimum wage or $30 hour; it will never be enough. They have to go where the work is and make their skills be a value to the company. When/If the powers running the show now can bring manufacturing jobs back to this country it will require people that can be trained and will show up to work every day. I believe those people are out there. The rest will remain at places that let them get by with whatever they want and they will be paid accordingly.

  34. No, state law does not say you can't be fired for doing so. It says that the fired employee may seek damages against the employer. The employer can fire the employee, but needs to be prepared to defend itself or pay up, or more likely, give any other reason or no reason at all to fire the employee. That's when contracts come into play because some do require cause for termination. The employer just has to gin up some other cause and they're home free unless the terminated employee can prove otherwise. That's usually an expensive task and probably why we have no case law that any of us know about.

  35. I've never seen anything like this before. There wasn't many people at this local auction, and prices for guns and knives were at near giveaway levels, so, being a good TGO member, I tried to do my part. I scored an 1894 Marlin in 38-40, a Colt DA 38, A Colt Bisley in 45 Colt, a Remington New Navy Cartridge Conversion with perfect ivory grips, a Cattaraugus pocket knife, and a Winchester pocket knife. Not pictured is a 1917 Commercial Smith and Wesson my father confiscated from me. I guess a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while.

  36. New addition to my full size 40s vintage self loading rifle collection. Finally bagged me a Swedish AG-42b otherwise known as a Ljungman. Here it is pictured with my other three. Top to bottom: 1942 Springfield Garand, 1945 Ljungman, 1941 SVT 40, and an Argentine FN49. . Still on the to acquire list are a MAS 49/56 and the Egyptian Hakim (Ljungman copy). Then maybe a Beretta BM-62 or a Walther K/G43 if I can swing it. I would still love a 41 Johnson automatic too. Again, this is just the big rifles. I have also an m1 carbine and SKS. I'll add a VZ 52 and a Rasheed at some point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
