Within the next 6 Weeks, I will be purchasing the best water cooled sharpening system on the market, a Tormek T8 What this means for you the customer, is that as well as sharpening on my Wicked Edge system I will be offering any size fixed blade knives, sizzors and eventually wood carving tool sharpening the Tormek system uses water to cool the steel and in no way can hurt the temper of any steel, also since the Goodmans Gun and knife show has moved to Lebanon, I will be getting a booth at every show that goes on when I am home, my prices on sharpening with my Tormek will be maybe $2.00 more that the guys with the grinding wheels that can damage the tempered steel while sharpening, and with that extra $2.00 a mirror polished Finish will be added As usual my Wicked Edge prices will be the same as they are as it is justified by the wear and tear on my system as well as the time it takes me to sharpen look for the Badass Blades Logo on a banner at future shows, come and meet me and get your knifes sharpened4 points

A long time ago in my former life as an HVAC tech we had a server farm that had pretty bad power (not a good combination). We would lose motors and boards on a semi-regular basis. One of the onsite maintenance men acquired a new Fluke meter. He found transient voltage everywhere including the building steel. Didn't show up on our analog meters so we all went out and bought new Flukes and sure enough there was voltage EVERYWHERE!!! We started in the switch gear room and began working our way outward. This is 4 journeymen techs. We spent a week trying to isolate the problem with no resolution. We rented very sensitive chart recorders from GE instrumentation and set them in 10 different locations and worked for another week and couldn't find the source of the transient voltage. The chart recorders of course didn't pick up anything. So, we called the GE rep and the Fluke rep out to meet with us. Had a big meeting in the conference room with all the bigwigs and explained the problem. We first went to a couple of the chart recorders and the GE guy calibrated them and assured us they were working properly. Then we got our shiny new fluke meters out and as soon as we took a measurement the fluke rep started laughing. We were measuring something like .00005 of a volt but because the meters were auto ranging the number looked big. Now we had around 400 man hours and all the cost for the recorders etc. The CEO listened to the entire story, and the maintenance man stood up for us and said he'd sent us on a wild goose chase. The CEO asked everyone if they'd learned anything and we all said yes. He looked over and the CFO and said pay the bill and walked out. The project manager for us on that account about passed out. We scheduled a mandatory after hours training meeting the next week for all service techs and the construction start up guys and went over what happened and how to properly use the new digital meters we were getting. Service had 92 techs and construction had 10 so it wasn't a cheap meeting but we worked for a great company and they wanted to make sure nothing like that ever happened again. Mark2 points

I was one of the lucky few to get one of the K11 carbines from Classic Arms' latest batches. Very pleased that it's not soaked in cosmoline, and that it has all matching numbers, and included the trifecta of accessories (sling, muzzle cap, and troop tag) Too bad the troop tag is not legible, but it does have a number matching the rifle, and the guy was in the army reserves and lived in Burgdorf. This rifle seems to be a conversion from the Cavalry Carbine Model 1905. Based on the fact that it's about 1/8" to 3/16" shorter than my K31. Also, it falls within the serial number range of the converted ones, in the year 1916. It has a "T" after the serial number, which I believe is an inspector stamp, and it has a P below the number with means the soldier kept his rifle. There's also a "35" stamped below the serial number, and the only thing I can come up with for that is if the rifle was refurbished at the factory in 1935.1 point

Hey guys. It's been a busy January for me, but I have managed to get the new Classifieds system installed behind the scenes and am on the verge of unveiling it to the public. I wanted you guys to see it first to give me some feedback. Unfortunately there's no way to give you actual access to it without everyone else seeing classifieds items popping up in their newsfeed, so here are some screen shots to give you an idea of how it will work. To view these pictures larger, you can right click on them and open them in a new tab. Pic #1: This shows where the menu item for the Classifieds section would show up on screen. One thing to note about the menu bar at the top of the page is that it will consolidate the last few links to the right if your screen resolution is not sufficient to show them all. When it consolidates them, it rolls the remaining links up into a menu item called "More". Pic #2: This is the landing page of the Classifieds system. At the top of the page are blocks for What's New (which would show recently added items) and Expiring Soon (which would show ads that are near the end of their campaign length). Below that is the list of categories similar to what you'd see on the home page of the forum where it lists all of the sub-forums. Pic #3: This is what pops up when you start to create a new advertisement. It provides a list of the Categories and asks you which one you're going to place the ad into. Pic #4: This is a view of all of the options that you get to choose from when you are crafting your ad. In this example you can see that I was creating a fictional ad for an M&P M2.0 9mm handgun and was setting the price for it at $495. You can add (or omit) information about where the item is located, choosing whether or not to just list the city and state, or also include a street address. The street address info would be helpful for a Vendor who has a storefront, obviously. You can also indicate whether you want to Allow Offers on the price, and you can allow the software to Notify you when questions are made about the ad. The latter is like subscribing to a thread in the normal forums where you get a notification sent if someone responds. You can also add images directly to your ad, and an ad can have a maximum of 10 images. The ad also has questions about the item you are selling. Some of them are required (as indicated) and others are optional. Obviously if you're selling a backpack or a tree stand, you won't be listing the caliber. You also get an option of Packages Available when posting your ad. This is a new thing! You can either go with the standard ad that runs for 45 days at no additional charge beyond what you paid as a Benefactor, or you can "Feature" your ad for 10-days for a very small cost. Featured ads stay pinned to the top of the Classifieds section and are among the first things people see.1 point

I finally got around to getting some new 3-gun gear for my 2011. I wanted something with a little bit different look, so I custom ordered the holster and mag pouches in the Kryptek Neptune pattern. Everything came from Fury Holsters, made right here in Knoxville. The holster is from their range series, the mag pouches are from their minimalist line. As always, the guys at Fury are easy to deal with, and craftsmanship is top notch. I was kind of wondering if I needed level II retention for the heavy 2011, but I don't think retention is going to be an issue with this holster. I will probably order a new belt from Stormrider Gear, too, so I'll have an all made-in-Tennessee rig. Whatdya think?1 point

Thanks, The Note 10.1 is up to date, but running the original OS version of Android (4.1.2). It has zero glitches, so I have not thought about upgrading the OS (and probably would just get a new tablet someday). B.1 point

Interesting article and thank you for sharing. Admittedly, I don't have any handgun training other than a Sergeant Major giving me a crash course on shooting an M9 and telling me I better qualify or I'll be reassigned to a different mission. One day I would love to take a few courses that some pro's or retired SF guys offer. One can never learn too much.1 point

You can get them at any county clerk's office in the state. A smaller county may not have any on hand, but they can get them.1 point

Northwood trigger makes it into a different gun...you'll be pleasantly surprised. The G43 is a good gun, if a bit wider. But I'd never put a belt-clip on a Glock, like I did with the PF-9...DA vs striker-fired. Just my preference.1 point

It'll go "bang". That is all. Many will steer you away from shooting 556 ammo in a rifle marked 223, and I will not dispute that, but my experience has been that it works just fine. Having said that, I do not own pressure testing equipment to verify pressure levels, and therein lies the potential problem. Were i wanting to shoot 556 in it regularly, I'd probably take it to a gunsmith and have it rechambered to 556 or 223 Wilde. Even though the brass is the same, the leade in the chamber is different between the two rounds.1 point

Out of curiosity, could an attorney use this in an appeal with regard to the sentencing enhancements? Not the conviction itself, but the criteria used for determining the sentence?1 point

I've made quite a few changes this morning to the categories for items. I've also changed the way the button was labeled for closing an ad. Previously it was listed as "Complete This Advert" which was confusing quite a few people. It's now labeled as "Close This Ad"1 point

Short the leads together and see what it reads. If the meter is reading 290 volts without the leads connected, it's broken. I have used cheap mulitimeters in real heavy AM RF fields. They will pick some stuff up with open leads, but are normally fine once the are connected to a circuit. I'm talking about using them at the transmitter site, where fields are 10 volts per meter and above.1 point

I just crossed off the Uberti El Patron on my list. I guess next will be a Henry Big Boy .357 or Uberti 1873 Cattleman .22 12 shot, or Browning Buckmark or Uberti 1873 Winchester replica Rifle in .357. I better stop there before my wife comes by and sees what I'm typing.1 point

This test is said to determine how old you are by the number of milliseconds it takes to react to a signal. I took it twice and, according to the results, I'm a 51-year-old 20-year old. I was afraid to keep testing because I might start dating again. https://www.justpark.com/creative/reaction-time-test/1 point

I made this from one of their cheap saw horses I bought on sale. I added some fake tennis balls that they sell for dogs 3 for a dollar most places and added a piece of plastic angle material I had around the shop. I drilled a hole in the balls with a spade bit and screwed the balls in place. Makes a light weight portable gun rack for my backyard range and comes in handy when I need to dig to the back of the gun safe.1 point

Smokey all i can say is that 4" came to a good home. My pet load is a 400 gr. Jsp. Over a max load of w296. That chronos just over 1800 fps and 3000 ftlbs. I love it and when i finally make my way to AK it will serve its intended purpose. And the 700gr. Are just plain fun. If your ever over my way let me know and your more then welcome to take it for a spin to get the mag fix.1 point

I have the 4" and love it. My Dad has the 8" and love it as well. It is an attention getter for sure. There are mild loads that are like shooting a .45lc all the way up to the 700 gr. T-rex slayer.1 point

I try to purchase at minimum 1 gun per year, combine this approach with the excitement and patriotism of the 45th president being sworn in coupled with a couple of work buddies buying guns this week, then the release of the Sig P320 won the army contract, and knowing that a run will almost certainly pursue, I was doomed, and too weak to holdout. So I pulled the trigger yesterday midday, its the Sig P320C FDE in 45ACP. The FDE is refreshing amongst the sea of black that I have. If the rain will clear out today, I plan to go shooting.1 point

At least the Marines went with the G19. I have to wonder about several aspects of this. From talking to many service members, in all branches, being issued a handgun isn't nearly as common as it use to be. Right now you aren't allowed to make any modifications to your weapon, it's done in the armory. Now all of a sudden they want this modular grip? I can see it as part of the SOCOM kit but not for standard GI. Thumb safety has no place. If you can't trust someone not to have an AD/ND with a 5 lb trigger, they shouldn't have possession of a pistol in the first place. ill be honest, I seriously doubt the long term reliability of this pistol. If nothing else, Sig just got a whole lot of beta testers.1 point

So you're saying they should come up with ammo that's... more... ballsy??1 point

Finally! Have to agree with Gen. Mattis that this was an overly bureaucratic decision that took way to long to come to fruition. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about it as I like Beretta's, Glock's, and Sig's. Carried a thoroughly used M9 in my 3 deployments and wasn't overly impressed. However, when I got out, I bought one from a buddy after a trip to the range. There's a massive difference in one that's been taken care of and one that's been used and abused. I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the sights on the M9 as opposed to the 3 dot on the 92FS when it comes to accuracy. That was one of my biggest complaints. Congrats to Sig on winning the contract! Naval Special Warfare chose Glock and I half expected the rest of the services to follow suit. Still want an M9A3 to add to the safe...1 point
