  1. RIA MS Tactical 2011 It has a lot of features for reasonably priced firearm. Now I just need to get out and shoot it.

  2. I was one of the lucky few to get one of the K11 carbines from Classic Arms' latest batches. Very pleased that it's not soaked in cosmoline, and that it has all matching numbers, and included the trifecta of accessories (sling, muzzle cap, and troop tag) Too bad the troop tag is not legible, but it does have a number matching the rifle, and the guy was in the army reserves and lived in Burgdorf. This rifle seems to be a conversion from the Cavalry Carbine Model 1905. Based on the fact that it's about 1/8" to 3/16" shorter than my K31. Also, it falls within the serial number range of the converted ones, in the year 1916. It has a "T" after the serial number, which I believe is an inspector stamp, and it has a P below the number with means the soldier kept his rifle. There's also a "35" stamped below the serial number, and the only thing I can come up with for that is if the rifle was refurbished at the factory in 1935.

  3. This will be my second season turkey hunting. I didn't even see one last year on my old lease. My new one is different. I saw probably 20 or more turkeys during deer season. I'm hoping to get one this year.

  7. Thanks. Just put that together one day on a whim. Found a scrap piece of wood the same thickness of magazine. Traced a mag out on it and cut it out with a jig saw. Used a dremel to smooth all the edges till it fit into a 1911. Then mounted it on a piece of extra 2x4 and presto...I had a 1911 holder. Works pretty good and was cheap and fun to make.

  9. What you need is a Blaser R8 in 300 win mag and I just happen to have one for sale... I will say that the Tikka T3 Lite I used to own was one of my favorite deer rifles. Should have never sold it.

  12. Yep. During muzzle loader season I sat and listened to a bunch of them right above me on a ridge. funny thing was, a plane flew over kind of low and was very loud....these crazy turkeys started gobbling and didn't stop for at least a couple of minutes. I'd heard that a loud noise would set them off, but that's the first time I'd heard it.

  15. Look for a booth called Tru-Tone Custom Calls (http://www.tru-tonecalls.com/) at the NWTF show. All of their calls are water proof and I have been using their products for a few years now. Highly recommended. They usually work me a deal on multiple products and throw in some extras. I lost a slate call in the field this past season and will be buying another from them this year at the show..

  16. Looks like the only options for rifles are "AK platform" and "AR platform". There are other types of rifles, so yeah, you might need to.

  19. If it's an auto ranging meter, 290 microvolts could be a normal stray AC voltage. Digital multimeters have high input impedances, usually around 10 megohms.
    1 point
  20. Short the leads together and see what it reads. If the meter is reading 290 volts without the leads connected, it's broken. I have used cheap mulitimeters in real heavy AM RF fields. They will pick some stuff up with open leads, but are normally fine once the are connected to a circuit. I'm talking about using them at the transmitter site, where fields are 10 volts per meter and above.

  24. No, using an Indian Creek choke (standard constriction .665). Can use all lead and hybrid heavy loads with shot sizes from #4 through #8 with the Indian Creek choke so that gives me plenty of choices to test out. I had been using the Hevi's but I think I'm going to go with the Long Beards this season if they pattern well with my setup.

  25. I just crossed off the Uberti El Patron on my list. I guess next will be a Henry Big Boy .357 or Uberti 1873 Cattleman .22 12 shot, or Browning Buckmark or Uberti 1873 Winchester replica Rifle in .357. I better stop there before my wife comes by and sees what I'm typing.

  26. Very anxious myself. I bought a new Remington 870 SPS Super Mag Turkey Pump-Action Shotgun about 2 years ago. Will be my 3rd season with it. I need to get out and pattern it with a variety of Winchester Longbeard XR shotshells I purchased at the end of last season to see which works best. Struck out last year on turkey and had a few missed shots. Hopefully better luck this year. I've booked a room with the block rate at Opryland Hotel for the NWTF show to take in as much as I can. Should be good.

  29. What happens when the leads are plugged in? A good auto-ranging meter shouldn't behave this way but most of those have a small choke (several micro-Henrys) across the input terminals to prevent the input terminals from acting as antennae without a load present. If it acts this way with the leads hooked up, I'd return it to the store just to be safe and see if another of the same model does the same thing.

  30. They have a bigger problem, the city of Knoxville has argued that this site is a park under the drug laws and added years onto people's sentences for selling drugs within so many feet of a park. The local PD and mayor are willing to put these convictions and future convictions of drug dealers at risk just to keep otherwise law abiding citizens from carrying into the park. It's my understanding this is not the TFA backed lawsuit? I suspect they will not settle, for anything less than the park being declared a park.

  38. Don't underestimate some of the psa barrels. Last one I built for my brother was sub moa with a stainless freedom 16 inch middy barrel, Kmr handguard, and a Geissele Ssa-e. I did lap the upper receiver and bed the barrel extension.

  40. No experience on the bear hunt side but that's probably your best choice in ammo. I carry a Glock 20 Gen4 with me during hunting season in case I run into any un-friendlies and usually carry Underwood 10mm 200gr. How do you like the KKM barrel? Been thinking about one.

  48. Rausch is an asshat who is playing the part the POS Rogero wants him to play. He might truly be anti 2a but whatever he says publicly is a canned comment straight from her office. I work with the city but not for the city. I've met him many times. He's a "yes" man. Knoxville is becoming the new Nashville. I think it's because of UTK. Another liberal machine. Why else would Rogero even be in office?
