Looking at the Colt website it was made in 1918. The brown spots on the front of the gun appear to be something like shellac and not rust.

Back in October I once again got an 03FFL. Aside from a lack of funds, I really don't have anything in the must have bucket list column. Living dangerously, Iv been known to browse the GB C&R listings on occasion (sorta like having unprotected sex). Well, who can resist the dream world of a Luger holding at $500? I clicked on it. Now every one knows that Luger will close at something that wont be anywhere near the 5 bones it had 5 days out from the gavel. But I clicked on it anyway. Here is the specimen in question.... This particular Luger is a 1906 model that was produced as a 5000 gun contract for the Brazilian Gov. This one is more than likely made in 1908 or early 1909. Its all original & matching numbers with a mint bore. This condition is rather about as good as it gets since these guns saw hard service. Now all that is more or less bla bla bla to me since I never wanted anything too nice to shoot and I figured Id run into a rough mix master someday to play with but here is the kicker. Back in Feb of 88 when I was graduating from the state Corrections academy, I watched them call us up front for our badge presentation one by one. All the guys were getting these brand new 14-1500 numbered bright gold badges, then they called me up there and they hand me this badge in a new case but it didn't look like all the others, mine had the bright gold rubbed off all the high spots and the rest was more like a dull silver gold and the number on it was 1259. Looking at it, I thought now that's a coincidence... if you add the first two numbers together, you get my birth day and the 59 is my birth year! That Badge served me well over the 25+ years I had it. In all that time, my knees and elbows never had to try n dent a concrete floor! Being a might bit superstitious, now you know..... the rest of the story. Closing at $1150 + 25 to ship C&R direct, I think I got a hell of a deal.

I shoot all over the Southeast, but I run the local ARA matches at Strategic Edge in Chapel Hill. I shoot at Chattanooga Rifle Club and quite a few other places within a 4 hour drive of Nashville. I have a couple of extra competition guns if you ever want to give it a try. All I ask is that you pay for the ammo as it isn't cheap.

One generally carries a weapon for the safety of themselves and family. Without training you are doing just the opposite plus endangering the public. Carrying a handgun is a huge responsibility that few take seriously enough to take real training. A carry class simply exposes one to applicable laws and is not firearms training. To carry and not train not only is risky to your health but your freedom. Mess up and possibly lose your freedom and spend your life in jail away from your family is not a good outcome.

I have often wanted to try out a F3 Curtiss knife but never got the opportunity. I spent a couple of hours on the phone with Dave and decided to start selling his knives. I'm considering, and keep looking at, the Smith 640 Pro. And I need a good bolt action .308. And a Mossberg 590A1 with the 18.5" barrel. And the new Smith Model 66 3". And a good .22 rifle, maybe the Ruger 'Murican. Priority for this year would be the 640 and .308.

I have a JM Marlin .357 carbine and love it. I have never owned a Henry... therefore I must.

It's not in your head, I've got the CORE 9mm, M&P9c both with the same Apex trigger and sear setup, and the out of box full factory 2.0 will outshoot both of them.

I picked up an M&P2.0 for $440 from garbagun a few weeks ago and holy smokes do those changes make a huge difference. There are a few things I was surprised about on it (I'm sure there will be legit online reviews form reputable sources, but here's what I noticed from owning two different model gen 1's and this 2.0 - all in 9mm): when the pistol goes into battery, there is a solid thud. The gun is built properly. Glocks, springfields, M&P gen 1's, they all feel loose compared to the M&P2.0 I mean, it is a solid thud, both from the sound and feel. Factory grips are the best ones I've seen on a composite gun The way the design of the grip is now, when you index during an unholster, even if you don't get a solid grip on it, your palm rotates in and finger slides up on the side never going near the inside of the trigger guard. I have no clue what they did to it, or what the difference is between this and any other gun I own. I drew from both an IWB and OWB about a 100 times total, and almost every single time, my hand just rolled into place even when it was a bad initial draw. Trigger has about a 5 pound break. There is a lot of pretravel, but the reset is short. It's a really good factory trigger. What you actually need though is an M&P9c with an Apex trigger in it... and I can hook you up!

Uberti El Patron .357, when I find one. Henry Big Boy .357, only problem with the Henry is I want a color case hardened receiver and they don't make that. Go figure. It's all about the hunt.

Runco, I say make 2017 a banner year... get two! Or ten! :-D Nightrunner, I bought the 5 inch 9mm and I have to say it's great. I already have 5 other M&P pistols and while the 2.0 isn't a complete redesign, it is a marked improvement. My first four shots out of the gun went into the same hole, with the rest of the mag very close or touching. Maybe it's all in my head, but that extended internal frame seems to keep the gun even flatter under recoil than before, and I have a 5" Pro model. The 2.0 shoots better than the Pro, imho. Ooooh. M1A... nice, Obiwan! I'm getting close to the same boat, Sam1. If you go DEagle, please tell me you're going for the gold!

I talked a buddy into getting his first 45 in honor of the 45th president. He ordered a Colt 1911 from Grab-a-Gun, and he will take possession tomorrow (1/20). Now I am little jealous, I am seriously thinking about adding another 45 as well. I may consider a Sig P320 in 45 ACP maybe in the desert color, maybe the full size or Nitron Compact or the Carry. I try to buy at minimum one gun per year, and this is a new year.

Lots of violence, er, I mean 'action' + zombie-type creatures + Milla Jovovich = Heck, yes, I want to see it. Won't pay full theater price but I'd get it on DVD once it is no longer 'new release price'. The movies in the series that I have seen were pretty entertaining and looking at Milla Jovovich even made that kinda dumb movie 'The Fifth Element' (which I did see in a theater and is the first movie I remember seeing her in) watchable.

The company that owns RBBB owns several other touring acts including disney on ice and marvel on ice. They will have no problem making money. And I'm sure that the preserve is setup as a nonprofit and will not have an issue getting support as such. Shriners getting drunk? No......hahah How is it any different than using them solely for work or to make you feel better about being alone (companionship). Come on now, it isn't quite that much... Even then, with no wind flags, it may not be a given. Wind is what separates the men from the boys in our game.

No, if his measurement in the first post is correct, the overall bullseye is ~1.625 inches. So it would simply be 1.625 MOA at 100 yards. It's actually a bit more than that since you only have to break the bullseye, not be completely in. The hard part is no sighters once you start so unless you have wind flags up, a slight wind can push you out of that quite easily.

I have a gunsmith screwdriver set that has one of those in it. I recommend everyone do this. Also a good source/reference for expert witnesses if needed. And hopefully, like your firearm, never needed.

Not a trade offer per se, and I don't remember the exact pricing, but once I found a Henry AR-7 in I believe the TN Trader. Called them up, they said it was like new, I drove 20 minutes to go buy it. It was + or - $20 from the new price on Bud's if I recall correctly, but worth it to avoid taxes, transfer fee, hassle, etc on a $200 firearm. Showed up cash in hand and fully ready to make a purchase. What I assume were a husband and Wife showed up. Showed me the AR-7 and walked me through all of how it "worked". I liked it but noticed that the buttstock cap, the piece that keeps the whole thing waterproof and whatnot, was pretty badly damaged. I told them that because of this it definitely wasn't "like new". They insisted it was new, hadn't been shot, but that it was stored on a shelf and something was piled on top of it and must have deformed/damaged the stock. It was obviously damaged. They wanted a sale and kept pushing that I could probably buy a new end piece. I think to just end the deal and go home I offered something like $100 or $150 since I would "have to buy another end-peice". One of them grabbed the rifle out of my hands and the two of them got out of their quicker than I had hoped:)

It should not be a crime to have a handgun whether it is concealed or not. Liberty is being defeated by these so called people control laws. Permits imho are a blessing with a fee attached. I'm quite blessed already and will not be seeking any additional ones.

Walking around a Nashville Fairgrounds Show about twelve years ago had a guy walk by with a GI 1911,can spot them at 100 paces. I asked him what he was selling and handed me a correct 1944 Ithaca and said he was wanting to trade even for a Kel-Tec 9mm about $250 then. I had one at home and I said how about we walk over to a dealers table and I give you the cash for one out the door? He said no I just want to trade it for one right now??? I scrambled trying to find a used one quick but seen him walk past me about five minutes later with a Kel-Tec.

No matter what I put up to sell, I always get at least one offer that's $200 less, along with "So when are you heading to Nashville?"

I have been laughing for over a minute straight at this sentence! Haha! So perfect! To the OP. My carry gun is my Shield, and it rides in a leather Bianchi model 100. It gets taken out of the holster for the night if the holster has gotten damp with sweat throughout the day. I shoot my carry gun every few weeks and it gets wiped down every time and cleaned as necessary. I don't worry too much the finish of the Shield, though the regular Shield I carred for 3 years before I got this performance center model looked absolutely brand new when I sold it. Dude who bought it didn't believe me when I told him how much use that gun saw.

ANY 22 can is going to last 5000+ rounds before it starts to really become harmful to your hearing. People are not going to just throw away a silencer they filled out a 4473 to buy. No different than throwing away a gun no longer wanted. People will sell them to fund a better one spurring a large secondary market of used silencers. Up until now it was just not worth it to buy a used silencer after the cost and wait but if it could be sold instantly there will be a used silencer market, especially during the shortage of supply. It looks like that 30 caliber silencer is aluminum or excessively heavy steel. If it is aluminum it will have a very short lifespan. If steel it must weigh as much as the gun.
