  1. Good Update at last post: Original Post: Well, today was a tough one. I took Ellie to my Vet and found out she has a very severe heart murmur and probably only had a life expectancy of 2 years. The breeder told me before I picked her out that she had a slight murmur, but her vet said he thought it could close as she got older. My vet disagreed and thought it was very severe so I had to make the very tough decision to return her to the breeder. The breeder handled the entire situation with empathy and class. I couldn't have asked them to handle it any better. They are going to get a second opinion, but I just couldn't start down that road with a new pup. I am obviously upset by this, but it would have only been worse had I waited longer. I guess it's time to reflect on this and wait for the next right time. It's a sad night for me.

  5. I'm the type to do without until I am able to get the one I want. Might have to save for a while but I decide on a gun then figure out how to pay for it.(This does NOT mean buy on credit, it means how long I have to save for it)

  6. Dude I'm sorry but that's a pretty depressing outlook. I love TN but traveling is fun. It would be a pretty boring life if I never left "my immediate area". I understand if you don't want to but for many of us, losing reciprocity is a big deal.

  7. I can remember editing the parameters and upping my internet speeds by a whopping 50%, that took me from 4kbps to 6 kbps. I remember starting a 1 meg downloads at night so it would be done in the morning, unless someone called then you had to wait another night. I thought I was in high cotton with I got my first US Robotics 33.6 modem, invited friends over to see the awesome speeds I was getting.

  8. What's up everyone, I just moved here to Memphis Tennessee from Philadelphia,PA. I absolutely love it down here and it feels great to be around such a 2A supporting bunch of good folks. Where's some good shooting spots? Some of your favorite Gun shops? And why is nobody a Tennessee Titans fan in this Area lol :-D #Cheers

  9. Finished up my most recent build thinking it would shoot 5.56, turns out it throws flames. Joking aside I was shooting some Monarch ammo that had considerably more flash than American made ammo. This picture was also the worst out of multiple magazines. Thought it was a funny picture regardless.

  10. I have always preached to get guns that are simple with few parts , with parts that are readily available and keep it very reliable. Therefore I only kept Glocks and 1911's . I got a urge to stray away from my "few parts" rule and got a new Beretta M9. It may a lot more parts than my 1911 and Glocks but it's reliable and parts are easy to find anywhere. Now that I am reloading , this will be great. These M9's and 92's will digest lots of different 9mm cartridges. Here she is with the factory oil still on her.

  11. Beautiful pup. We got a new friend a few weeks ago as well. Josey is now 11 weeks. Border collie mix. First week, she'd need to go outside at about 3 am, but after that she could go all night. Pups are a lot of work but great fun.

  12. I am fortunate to have enough property that I can walk out my back door and shoot anything from an air rifle to a .50 bmg just about any time of day I want. My second option is a 15 minute drive to a private range used by a very small group of people complete with steel targets. A regular shooting buddy and I felt the need to turn perfectly good ammunition into noise and hot smoking empty brass but the cold temperature for the last few days has been quite the deterent. If we were half or even a quarter of our current age we probably would not have given the cold weather a thought. So we decided to use option three today. Royal Range is about a 30 minute or less drive from where we live. Both of us have been there several times just to window shop or on an occasion walk out with an arm load of big boy toys or accoutrements. Neither of us had ever used their indoor range but we changed that today. We both had a great experience and really enjoyed their great facilities. I shot about 300 plus rounds of various calibers and as we were walking to our car I said that was awesome and I can still feel with my fingers and my ears and feet are not freezing. If the weather isn't suitable or there is not enough natural light left in the day to shoot outside and Royal Range is open, I will be going back. Royal Range

  14. Honest question for those of you seeking GB speeds. What are you expecting to get from it? Are you running some type of server or online service out of your home? Hosting a website or file store perhaps? I ask because if not, you're really just paying a lot more money for bandwidth you don't need. I have around 8 wireless IoT devices, 4 laptops, a file server and my family streams video and does online gaming daily. We have a 90mb pipe and it's NEVER under load. Remember, just because you have a 1gb pipe to your residence doesn't mean you will download everything at 1gb. That's a common misconception.

  16. I agree. My Glock preferrence is Gen2, Gen1, Gen 3, Gen 4. Gen 5 should go back to Gen 2. They should make it where the Gen 5 comes in between Gen 1 and Gen 2. Kind of like the order of the Star Wars saga.

  19. Thought I was pretty clear with my reference to the mountains to the Mississippi that what I am is an advocate of STATES rights. Do I travel much anymore, no. But if you want to see the Grand Canyon or the Empire State building, you must be prepared for what those states have decreed. Would I like a national carry, sure, but not at the cost of each states rights. That means if I or you wants to travel, take into account what the current rules are. I have no issue with TN granting carry privileges to ALL active duty military. Will that make them all mature enough to handle the responsibility, no, but then I have noted some folks on this site that are obviously in their 40's or 50's that haven't shown the maturity of what some of those 18 year olds do. If your on active duty, you have stated your willing to give your life for the country. The least they can do is show that at least in TN, we honor that enough to grant you the title of being an adult. Compound? Come on Chance, don't be an MSNBC word twister man.

  22. It's doubtful that whoever sporterized this rifle would have spent the money to change the caliber. The barrel looks like the original barrel that came with it, but shortened with a modified front sight. I don't think you'd be able to convert it back to its original military configuration so I'd just leave it like it is. You can take it to a gunsmith to confirm the caliber or if you have a gun sled, you can strap the rifle in and fire it with a string tied to the trigger from a safe position. I've done this a few times with rifles I wasn't sure about. Afterwards, examine the fired cartridge for any signs of a headspace problem or indications that the chamber is larger than .303. Obviously, if a .303 cartridge doesn't fit initially, then it has been downsized to a smaller cartridge. I doubt that will be the case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. Excuse me for saying, but that's a pretty short sided way to look at this.....it's not like you are talking about not going somewhere blatantly hostile like Afghanistan, or even outside the country. A lot of people have work that takes them outside the great state of TN on a weekly basis, do you recommend they just get different jobs? I have a son in WA that I visit 6-8 times a year, so this will be directly effecting me, and it's not like I can (or would) say "sorry son I can't come see you anymore, too many people out there and no more reciprocity". I honestly did not expect that this would actually pass here, as it just doesn't pass the common sense test. I've seen it come up in other places as a feel good thing to talk about...."our youngsters are old enough to take a bullet for the cause but not old enough to drink or carry a gun" but that's usually all it is, feel good talk. To think that just because an 18-20 year old is in the military he has been touched by the maturity fairy is lunacy. Add in the "snowflake" effect plaguing our youth and it's even more alarming. He might have more firearms training then some kids his age, but outside a few select military occupations it certainly won't be with a handgun. I'm sure there are plenty of TGO members that have raised their kids with proper firearms training and the appropriate mindset toward the use of firearms...but that is surprisingly not the case with many kids going into the service nowadays. You would be amazed at the number that have never handled firearms prior to their military service, and the time spent on marksmanship is an absolute joke for the majority of military occupations. I say all this having once been one of those young, dumb, and full of you know what youngsters and having spent several years as an NCO leading/nurturing a bunch of them. This was definitely a feel good measure that benefits very few and will negatively effect many. Good job looking at the big picture TN Leadership.

  27. Jab--I own several (read quite a few) handguns. Some costing a full 10x more than my Ruger K (meaning stainless in "Ruger") P95DC 9mm. I am not a 9mm guy, and certainly not a Ruger guy. BUT the first time I ever qualified I used the Ruger 95 DC. Because of this I have used it EVERY other time I have qualified since. I like the size (I am 6'6" with HUGE hands). I like the 17 round +1 capacity. I prefer the DA/SA DC action on all my handguns. It has never jammed, eats whatever I feed it, is more accurate than I am, and ALWAYS goes bang. I always jokingly say that I have a special name for glovebox/truck guns--I call them "Rugers" but that in fact diminishes what I really think about this pistol. It is simply a great weapon. It will not win you any awards down at the gun club, it is not fancy or cool, and no mall ninja would ever want one--but I LOVE mine and anytime anyone wants a starter pistol to get into the semi auto world on when anyone says what is a great weapon for the $$, I always tell them--for ME and for the $$, the Ruger 95 is the most bang for the buck of any of them.(--disclaimer it is not a competition weapon or a fine custom job. Just a reliable one that can be had for $200-250 at nearly every gun show ever. I would take one over 10 Taurus or Hi-points ANY day)

  28. Well IMO this just sucks. Need to change the law back to the way it was. The Castle Doctrine applying to vehicle carry was enough for that age group. If that age group needs to carry on a military installation the commander can take care of that.

  30. The HD box is either an honest error or them sneaking something in. The rental charge uptick seems like a new year thing, not pleasant, but not unprecedented either. The increases in the sports package and bundle are your promo rate expiring, or the prices for that package going up with the new year. Compare the current bill to your last one (should still be online in an accessible format) and see what's changed. Usually they charge the normal amount, then put in a rebate for the promo on the bill that gets it to the discount number. When you call, set aside about an hour, and just be a polite but intractable force until the first or second tier customer service rep has to farm you off to the department that has the authority to change your rates. When I do it, I tell them I have a fixed budget, and only have $xx.xx allocated for cable and internet, so they need to find me something in that rate. We go back and forth with them proposing "deals" and my rejecting them until there is something I can work with. Also, with AT&T in my area, I cal tell them that I also have a minimum services need and I'll have to switch providers if they can't meet that. Not sure if you have that bargaining chip. Either way, just be the person who won't hang up until you have an answer from someone, even if that means getting another number to call or being transfered. Also, might have to wait until normal hours on Monday to get a resolution, but you can start today to feel your way out.

  31. If you have 10 years of qualified law enforcement under the terms of LEOSA, doesn't mandate retired you should qualify under that law to carry once you qualify. But if you haven't been TN POST certified or completed the academy in the past five years you won't be exempt from the class/range for the HCP.

  35. Sounds like some one the gun owner may have known that new that person would be out of town giving them that amount of time to get the safe/cabinet and not be seen.......jmo there. As for my safe and someone stealing it. I won't say it can't happen but I can say they better come well equipt with lots of tools and plan on making a very large amount of noise. I also have neighbors that are extremely nosey and know everything that goes on. They have called me from time to time and ask me if I know about Such-N-Such truck that is in my driveway while I am out and have a full desription and tag number to give me. I have a lot of guys stop in to talk about fishing baits I make and sell so neighbors don't see them enough to know if they belong here or not so they call. My safe is tie bolted to a concrete floor and also a side wall in my house and not garage. I also have every serial number in a floor safe they would have to use a jack hammer to get out. I also have an accurate ammo count so if it did disappear I could give the police an accurate count of that also. This world has gone to hell in a handbag and it is hard to trust anyone if you don't know them or been aquainted with them in some way and then some of them are questionable..................JMHO

  40. Headed to a new home. It's made from 1/4" thick 1095 professionally heat treated to RC 59 and received the cryogenic treatment as well. OAL is 12" Blade is 5 5/8" Scales are bog oak from the Ukraine. This is from the seller...( This is Russian Bog Oak lifted from the bottom of a river near the city of Chernigov. This precious material is called Russian "Black wood". The Bog Oak have been soaked in many years of history. Over centuries and a mellinium, sinking Oak trunks lay upon the bottom of a surface of water. They lie there for many years without any exposure to oxygen, completely submerged. In result of the chemical processes, the sap from the wood and minerals from the water dye the wood a black color. The birthplace of Bog Oak transpires from a few extremely important components: Oak trees growing by the riverside, a certain speed of the river current, and a few definite minerals in the water. Bog Oak is an extremely rare and unique material which color speaks for itself. The light pinkish yelow color represents aging from three to four hundred years, while the black is equivalent to more than a thousand years. Like elite wines, this incomparable wood undergoes many years of preservation, enabling the wood to gain a few unique qualities. Bog Oak is incredibly stoic, and through it's longevity it obtains an unrepeated texture. For a long period of time Russian " Black wood" has been used in carpentry, jewelry, knifemaking, etc. In Rus' there are many beleifs about the healing properties that Bog Oak contains. The wood is commonly used to heal people, and was especially popular as an item that usually surronded people. This valuable wood emanates a type of living energy that people absorbed involuntarily, thus speeding up the process of healing. The age of these Bog Oak blocks has been determined by a radiocarbon analysis and it's about 5460 years. ) It has copper liners and accents along with OD Green G10. It has mechanical as well as epoxy holding the scales. It also has a lanyard hole. The sheath has carbon fiber boltaron pattern on front and black kydex on the rear.

  41. The only handgun - or any gun, for that matter - of which I have more than one of the same (more or less) would be the Ruger P95. My first one - which was my first 9mm handgun - was a gift from a friend (actually my ex-wife's grandfather but he was also a good friend) who has since passed. For a while I carried a Kel Tec P11 but was never all that accurate with it. I eventually found that - as I absolutely cannot carry IWB and the P11 was too big for pocket carry - I could carry the P95 just as easily as the P11 and I shoot the P95 much better. The problem was that I didn't want to carry the P95 because of some sentimental value as I didn't want to risk losing it if I ever had to use it. Lo and behold, however, that when I decided to get rid of my P11 my favorite LGS had a used, slightly different model of P95 in the case. We traded even. So now I have two P95 pistols. One to carry and one to just hang on to until the zombie apocalypse requires me to dual wield them. They aren't exactly alike. The first one (on the right in the pic below) - the gift - is a decocker only model and does not have a light rail. The second one - the all black one on the left - is a decocker/safety model and has a light rail. I prefer the DC only but couldn't really get picky when I decided to get a second one. When I carry it I only used it as a decocker and do not carry with the safety engaged (they are DA/SA pistols.) I have never used the light rail but it doesn't get in the way so I guess it is nice to have just in case.

  46. Was it a factory tag or a tag added by the gun shop? Go to Berettausa.com. There's a section to type your serial number in & find out a lot about your pistol including manufacture date. If it has a special finish their site should tell you about it. This weekend I'm finally going to get in some more range time with one of my toys. A Beretta 92G Elite with a SGS style compensator made by "Ric" on the Beretta forum. This pistol makes +P feel like high velocity .22lr.

  47. I work in manufacturing and I respectfully disagree. Suppressors aren’t rocket science. They can quickly be adapted to changing baffle types and techniques. When you are selling enough to mass produce them in quantities that would eclipse what is being done now, and you can dedicate machines to them; the price would plummet. At a reasonable price with no paperwork and no ridiculous waiting times they would be selling thousands of times more than they do now. I’m sure there would still be $800 suppressors; just like there are $3K 1911’s… if you want them. But the guys that are innovative know that and would be selling $200 suppressors. And the gun manufacturers would have threaded barrels as a standard option.
