After much consideration and discussion, TN Action Pistol has decided to cut back on matches for 2017 and the Sumner Gun & Supply matches will be removed from the schedule going forward. Running matches takes a lot of time and we have decided to cut back to two matches per month so we can spend more time with our families. Thursday night shoots also seem to be more flexible for our shooting community. We would like to extended a BIG thank you to all of the staff at Sumner Gun for their support over the last 18 months. Sumner Gun gave us a home and a start for our matches, and that will never be forgotten. The staff at Sumner Gun are some of the nicest people you will meet, and great supporters of our shooting community.2 points

My son has a Glock 19 and a 42. I have had all at the range and rented a 43. I wanted to get on the bandwagon and my son would never give his G-19. They're just not for me. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk2 points

Yellow pages is a good idea. To add to that line of thought I'll say paper maps. I keep a couple in each vehicle and an atlas on the bookshelf.2 points

Walther PPS M2 ordered today at Lebanon Gun shop. Should be here Thurs / Fri. Been eyeing this for a while ever since they came out. Very similar in looks & feel to my PPQ. It will be in addition to, not in place of the PPQ. Smaller & easier to conceal/carry in some situations. Now all I've got to do is wait......patience is NOT one of my virtues, LOL. 9 MM BTW, in black.1 point

I am not a "prepper", but I think having an emergency plan in place is important. There are always lists floating around of items you need to keep or at least find if something happens. One thing I think people miss is the good old yellow pages. If things happen, this is a buffet of info as to where to look for items outside you immediate knowledge. And if things are really bad quick, Google might not be an option. What are some odd things you guys think of?1 point

Hey guys, I know a lot of you make your own sheaths for your bigger knives, but I got a Kabar Eskabar BK-14 from a Coworker for Christmas. I know one of the biggest complaints with the BK11 and BK14 are that the sheaths they come with dull the blade VERY quickly. I was looking at just buying another sheath, but I'm toying with the idea of making my own Leather one. I was curious as to how complicated it is, and how you guys learned to make your own. I appreciate any help1 point

I really appreciate all the input and opinions here! I am going to stop by SMKW and Buds on Thursday and see what all they have on hand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

How about one at each location to better serve those east of Nashville?1 point

Well, really, $3k/ year is only prohibitive to small "hobby" type output. Think bigger! - OS1 point

The PPS M2 has intrigued me as a carry gun. I bought a G43 last year to replace my XDS 45. I get it home and my wife (gf at the time) picked it up and declared she liked it and wanted to have it as a carry gun instead of her Sig. I gave in and dug my G19 out of the safe to carry. I also have a PPQ that I love to shoot and fits really well in my hand. Curious to hear your impressions of the PPS when you get some range time. I've held one but don't know anyone that has one. I'd like to have another single stack 9 for a carry gun but I can't narrow down what I want just yet. Too many options!1 point

Yes, I agree. Just a good ol' country boy. I really like watching him. Still looks a little behind his old self, but life will do that to us.1 point

It's sure good to see Jeff Quinn on the mend. He started the year off in a world of hurt. Glad to see him recovered.1 point

So S&W can put 5 shots of 44 mag in an L frame but Ruger can only put 44 specials in a gp100?1 point

I shoot 200gn hard cast Underwood in my 20. It is very accurate! I have not observed any leading. When I back up to about 30yds from the target board, I can hear the SMACK of that slug hitting the board, lol. I've never chronoed it, but I know it hits hard. The accuracy amazes me. I carry it as my "woods gun".1 point

I believe its the hassle factor and loss of time to resolve the issue factor. When I was a FFL, I had a Winchester 70 on my rack on display for sale. The original owner found it, contacted the police and both he and the police showed up. He presented his information to me, and the police wanted to see my information. I had receipts where I had purchased it, and the matter was over in 10 minutes or less. The rifle owner got his gun back. Then a couple of days later, I had to spend about an hour and half to get my money back (travel, police, etc.). I had purchased the rifle at a pawn shop in the next town. I had to get the police, I had to bring the paperwork, and the pawn shop was like me, very cooperative. So all in all, it took close to two hours away from my time that I could have been working. Funny story, the pawn shop presented info to the police, they had only had the rifle for 1 day before setting it out to pawn. Not sure of the laws today, but back then pawn shops had to hold items like 21 days before placing an item out for pawn. Hmmmm!1 point

Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had bought some of this for my Father in law. I know he would get a kick out of the name. Wouldn't mind a bottle of my own just for kicks as well.1 point

Yes but that machine shop MUST be a licensed manufacturer even if HPA passes. And they will not be able to compete with silencer manufacturers already in business. The biggest reason why is baffle designs are patented so they either have to spend a ton on research to design their own, license the design or risk being sued for patent infringement. And baffle designs are guarded ferociously by those who hold the patent. One could build a silencer for under $20 in materials and it will be decent.1 point

I've never been to one of their classes either. I'd say it would be a good one though if Keven is putting it on, he knows his stuff when it comes to leather.1 point

Yeah I have a lot of the 180 XTP and never had an issue. Good stuff. I've shot some Atlanta Arms 10mm also and have had pretty good success with it.1 point

I haven't been to one. Always something getting in the way on a Saturday.1 point

Good for you. Most of us, and I'm very guilty of it, seem to accumulate clothes that just don't get worn much. Me...I'm a sucker for aloha shirts. Buy them and just look at them in the closet. Usually because of my expanding waistline.1 point

I was in their store in Columbia recently and I would agree it's a pretty good store. Except for the way they display their handguns for sale. The had S&W revolvers monted out of the box on a pegboard. Like 3 guns jammed together. Craziest thing I've ever seen.1 point

I second the advice to get to a range and try them all out - that could very well save you some money in the long run. I had both a Gen 4 Glock 19 and a CZ 75B. Based solely on feel, the CZ was the winner hands down. CZ is famous for their ergonomics for a reason. And the Glock? Well, it felt like a Glock - not completely terrible, but nothing special either. But when it came to actually shooting them, I shot the Glock better - much better actually. I could speculate on the reasons for that (didn't care for the CZ sights, differences in triggers, etc). But I say all that just to say again, try them out for yourself first if you can. I bet the choice will be a lot easier for you then.1 point

I felt the same as you about glocks (ugly, boring, didn't feel right, too trendy, etc.)... until I bought one! You might say I went against the flow by getting a gen2 Now I have several glocks, and it's hard for me to imagine a better carry gun. I own several different brands and models of carry guns, but I still default G19 when I can... G43 when I can't.1 point

Ah...I see now...says the blind man. Makes much more sense now. Just slow on the uptake.1 point

I think Glock is a love-hate thing. No question about being reliable but, for me, the trigger and feel is not a good match. My Sig P320C is much more my style, but that's just me. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk1 point

After being stuck in a hospital for a while as an adult, I can only imagine how much it sucks being stuck there as a child, over the holidays, and possibly being underprivileged on top of all the other problems. Every year at Christmas I anonymously donate toys to the nearest children's hospital. This year, thanks to an awesome new store here in Fairview called "Dirt Cheap" I was able to buy over $1500 worth of new toys for $300 out of pocket. It was everything under the tree, except for a couple of wrapped presents in the back. You want something to hit you right in the feels? Try that out next year.1 point

I loaded 100 45 Colt rounds with lead semi wadcutters of unknown heritage. I didn't load them to max or anything, but after shooting about a dozen, they leaded like the devil. I loaded some more really light, and they shot well with no leading. I suppose they are quite soft. Anyway, today I decided to pull the remaining 88 bullets and reload them with the mild load. I learned that while the hammer type kinetic puller works well enough for one or two rounds, it ain't much fun doing a bunch. Load any new loads you want to try in small quantities.1 point

I can't tell you how much i enjoy this event every year. I've never been disappointed! This year, i got a box full of great gifts. Inside this (large) box, scattered among numerous other fantastic gifts, I found a nondescript thumb drive. I plugged this bad box into my computer and I now have the users manual to about every damn gun ever made. Beyond that, I've got 30-40 books on different guns, gunsmithing, shooting and about anything else you could imagine. I can now service and maintain many of my older (inherited) firearms in my collection. Before this gift, i didn't have the manuals. I can't thank my Santa enough. I hope you Christmas is filled with joy. (P.S.-Santa, shoot me a private message. I would love to thank you in person one day.) Pictures or it didn't happen.................1 point

Where can I get a cow permit? They're all over the place around here. Easier to shoot than deer and lots more meat! Correct on the 18 to possess answer. Carry permits for under 21 are ONLY for members of the military and veterans! (http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ 39-17-1351) Be careful as most police aren't really as knowledgeable on gun laws as you might think. Gun laws are very complex and there is a lot of misinformation out there. The best source for accurate information on TN firearms laws is the Tennessee Firearms Association. The TFA was responsible for getting TN the Handgun Carry Permit in the first place, as well as all of the positive changes in the firearms laws since then.1 point
