I thought you guys might get a little chuckle out of this like I did. Here is one of my wifes Christmas presents to me... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk12 points

See, here I was this whole time thinking that the "trendy" thing to do was to own something exotic, expensive, and flashy. Those that prefer simplicity, reliability, and the holy grail of value buy a Glock.4 points

I wish everyone her the happiest of Christmas Seasons! I hope you all are surrounded by family and friends this year. May it be the merriest and best for all. But please take the time to say a prayer for those less fortunate than we are; those serving this nation and it's people I all the areas around the world. My God Bless and keep safe all our service men and women everywhere. Also remember those serving here at home. The police, fire, EMTs, all emergency responders, and all our medical persons. Each and every one deserves a prayer from us for their dedication to helping others. Please remember those who have lost someone recently. The brightness of this family season is dimmed by their absence. Please remember the homeless and the poor. The shelters for our people need love and donations. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't supported as fully this year as in the past, but has been a financial struggle for us this year, as I'm sure may can attest to for themselves as well. Pray for those with family in hospitals and care facilities, sadly my family falls into that category this year. And lastly, for 2 groups close to my heart. All the veterans of the wars in this nation. Thank and pray for them daily. We need more support for them. The second group is for our family friends, companions, protectors, and just plain pets. Thank God for them all. They provide unconditional love and friendship. More than many get from family and friends at times. Please donate to care facilities for our animal friends. Rescue when you can. Give homes to strays. Do what you can. Hopefully, I have covered all I intended here this morning . Getting a little misty eyed. Must be the dusty little room I'm in. Finally...Merry Christmas to all.4 points

After being stuck in a hospital for a while as an adult, I can only imagine how much it sucks being stuck there as a child, over the holidays, and possibly being underprivileged on top of all the other problems. Every year at Christmas I anonymously donate toys to the nearest children's hospital. This year, thanks to an awesome new store here in Fairview called "Dirt Cheap" I was able to buy over $1500 worth of new toys for $300 out of pocket. It was everything under the tree, except for a couple of wrapped presents in the back. You want something to hit you right in the feels? Try that out next year.3 points

May your family be blessed and may Christmas 2016 be the best ever! Reminder of the story which was read to my kids a few hours ago, and I have read/heard this story for 48+ years straight! http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Luke-Chapter-2/ 1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. 18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. 20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.3 points

My best gift giving was a couple years back. Wife and I went out to pick up some toys at K-Mart as fillers for some family stockings. As we pulled in, I noticed a Fire/Rescue crew there collecting toys. We went inside and started picking things to take back out to them. As we strolled around, I kept seeing more and more ideas, and some really good low prices. Before we really knew it, we had filled 2 carts with balls, bats, dolls, games, cars and trucks, as well as a few other items. I paid and we went out to hand them over. One of the guys came up and asked which one was for them. We stopped both carts and told him all. The look on his face was priceless. We got thanked and hands shook by all of them and walked away quickly. One of them called for us to stop and take a picture. We declined. Told him we did it for personal reasons, and for the kids. We wanted no praise for something we felt we should do. I regret that we haven't done it to that extent since. Best feeling I've had in a long time.2 points

Similar to mine, but I prefer, "sorry, just didn't notice the sign" and the rest. Forgetting you have a heater on you at all could be seen as sign of senility. - OS2 points

I tend to dress nice. I'm gray haired. I'm nearly 70. I just carry where ever I go unless it's a place with a high possibility of getting made by security or law enforcement. In the remote possibility that I am made, my preplanned response would something along the lines of, "Oh! I'm sorry. I just forgot that I was carrying. I'll go put this in my car. Sorry to bother you... won't happen again." I think I could talk my way out of most situations with a polite approach like this. They don't want the hassle of calling the police either. They just want to avoid the liability of a ND inside the store. In the remote chance that approach failed, I have a Plan B story... a true story, that would probably work if the first one didn't.2 points

If you have more money than cents, then get all three, maybe not at once or over time. I find that when I narrow my decision down to say 2 models, I usually end up buying both. Then since I don't trade or sell, I end up with a collection over time. But I do accomplish the one thing, the decision factor is no longer a factor. If you have more cents (sense) than money, then what you are doing is correct, asking people for their input, but you will always have that thought later, I wonder about the other gun.2 points

Not only do I kill, or try to kill every single one I see while hunting anything else, I actively hunt them. I'm new to the yote hunt scene, but I'm trying to learn fast. They are in a population explosion. I'm hunting with a call, attractor, and a scoped 44 mag marlin. I will drop them as fast as I can get a shot at them. They will destroy your quail, rabbit and deer population. I'm 63 years old. These varmints were not around 30-40 years ago. Now they are in our and YOUR neighborhood killing YOUR pets. I'm gonna kill the basturds anytime I see one.2 points

I have a Jewish friend who comes over to reload from time to time. Last year he asked me what I wanted for the Christian holiday. I told him that at the original Christmas, the wise men brought gifts to Jesus; they didn't swap them amongst themselves. Instead I suggested he make a donation to an area food bank because Jesus said, "when you have done it unto the least of these, you did it unto Me." (Matt. 25:40) After doing so, he told me it was the warmest fuzzy he had ever received.1 point

if you do any type of reloading a chronograph is a must. today they don't cost much and with one you can make some good safe loads. got my chronograph in 83 and it has been one of the best reloading item i got.1 point

I have a Jericho Compact (Baby Eagle) that is based on the CZ platform. It is a great range gun and I can't say anything against it for that purpose. It is accurate, reliable and soaks up 9mm recoil like a sponge. My G19 is my favorite carry. Hands down, there is nothing I trust more. It is light, accurate and reliable. It eats anything and never complains. I have several handguns, but honestly I have been thinking lately of thinning the herd to all Glock, or similar operation. It is not impossible to 'train' muscle memory to disable safeties, load in different manners, etc, but the older I get it just seems to make the most sense to me to have no manual safety 9mm Glock magazine fed handguns. As it is now I will only buy slide mounted manual safety equipped guns for this reason. I don't want to remember ten different order of operations for twenty different guns and then have to remember which one I am using at the time. If I primarily carried or trained with a frame, or slide mounted safety gun, then I would stay with that operation factor. As it is, I do most of my pistol shooting with a Glock.1 point

Go to a range that rents and shoot them both. Its amazing how much you can like something more, or less, after 50 rounds down the pipe. I have both. The CZ75 is my favorite shooter. The G19 is accurate and reliable, but I've got over 35000 rounds through my CZ. That should show my preference. Again, shoot both before plunking down your money.1 point

I have a CZ 75B matte stainless, 85B, 75B compact and a Canik (Tristar) C-100. The C-100 is a clone of the CZ75B compact and has become my carry and range pistol. The CZ's are very good pistols in my opinion if they fit you and feel good to you. The CZ's have a good amount of support these days.1 point

This warms my heart, haha! My EDC is a Performance Center Shield 9. I even enjoy it at the range as well, but the low mag capacity makes it tedious to shoot a lot. Go CZ! What's funny is, I don't even have a real CZ yet, but have a spinoff and have shot so many others' that I really am a fan.1 point

CZ75. For range use, large, steel frame for recoil mitigation. Good grips for easy and comfortable hold. Both combine to make a long shooting session much more comfortable. I own both Glocks and CZs. I find my Glocks sitting home more and more these days. Too many other pistols that are more fun to shoot and look better. Not dissing the Glocks. I still have one for carry and one for home hideyout gun. But in the interests of total truth, my carry Glock has taken a back seat to a Shield.1 point

About 18 months ago I had a similar decision to make between a CZ75 compact or a Kahr K40 black stainless. The Kahr won out. Since its primary roll was a CCW, the K40 edged out the CZ in weight and size plus a tad more slide panel to grab with a short smoother trigger. The feel of the CZ was very temping tho. Like you, im not a fan of the Glock looks. And the tiny frame nubs that guide the slide is just not my idea of a heavy duty design. A part time cop friend of mine once asked me about the metal filings he was finding on both his Glocks slide rails & frame. I urged him to mail one back to Glock. They said it was normal wear. They may be good guns but I'll stick with old world full rail contact autos. Good luck with what ever you decide on.1 point

Few pistols have more aftermarket support than a Glock. Between being easy to shoot, easy to clean and disassemble, adaptable to any need, and readily marketable if you need to sell... what more can you ask for?1 point

I can't tell you how much i enjoy this event every year. I've never been disappointed! This year, i got a box full of great gifts. Inside this (large) box, scattered among numerous other fantastic gifts, I found a nondescript thumb drive. I plugged this bad box into my computer and I now have the users manual to about every damn gun ever made. Beyond that, I've got 30-40 books on different guns, gunsmithing, shooting and about anything else you could imagine. I can now service and maintain many of my older (inherited) firearms in my collection. Before this gift, i didn't have the manuals. I can't thank my Santa enough. I hope you Christmas is filled with joy. (P.S.-Santa, shoot me a private message. I would love to thank you in person one day.) Pictures or it didn't happen.................1 point

Bass Pro prices are terrible and the store brands are very low quality. I am definitely a Cabela's loyalist and am a Club Member. I receive lots of great deals, free shipping, generous club points to use toward purchases and at least once a month have a 10% off + free shipping deal. Bummed about the Bass Pro buyout, hope it falls through. Cabela's is definitely aimed more toward hunting and outdoors (which works well for me) as opposed to Bass Pro which is aimed more toward fishing. I do enjoy the no sales tax since they do not have a brick and mortar store in Tennessee but I suspect that will soon change. The Cabela's store brands have always been high quality and a lot of the store brand items have lifetime guarantees which is nice (deer blinds, trail cameras, hunting boots, etc.) that I have purchased. The only thing negative that I have found about Cabela's is their firearm prices but Bass Pro is just as bad. As is Gander Mountain, Academy, etc. All the big box stores are overpriced in regards to firearms.1 point

No contest. Can't stand Bass Pro and their thievery,er... high prices. Selection is nice, but not at that cost. Every year or so I stop at the Opry Mills store, look around for awhile, and leave with empty hands. Feels like they should rename themselves "Retail Plus", after their pricing structure. I feel the same about Gander Mountain. I've enjoyed Cabela's every time, and stop in the Bowling Green store any time we're going to see the wifey's fam in Central KY. Fair ammo and reloading prices, and some great accessories I don't see elsewhere. They usually end up stealing a couple hundred bucks from me, but I don't mind. I'm super bummed about the Bass Pro buyout, as well.1 point
