  1. ...you spend more time figuring out which guns to pack for a trip than you do your clothes, etc? I packed my suitcase of clothes in about 7 minutes yesterday, and it only took that long because I had to match up some socks from the laundry hamper. I've spent about twenty minutes tonight deciding on which guns and ammo to bring, and how/where to pack them all.

  3. I can't tell you how much i enjoy this event every year. I've never been disappointed! This year, i got a box full of great gifts. Inside this (large) box, scattered among numerous other fantastic gifts, I found a nondescript thumb drive. I plugged this bad box into my computer and I now have the users manual to about every damn gun ever made. Beyond that, I've got 30-40 books on different guns, gunsmithing, shooting and about anything else you could imagine. I can now service and maintain many of my older (inherited) firearms in my collection. Before this gift, i didn't have the manuals. I can't thank my Santa enough. I hope you Christmas is filled with joy. (P.S.-Santa, shoot me a private message. I would love to thank you in person one day.) Pictures or it didn't happen.................

  6. I would like to see the person capable of throwing a case of ammunition from the road to my porch. The exterior box looked perfect so I think it was just used as a giant baby rattle. It wasn't exactly packed well either. The shipping container was a lot bigger than the case of ammunition yet there was not any packaging materials to keep the ammunition form moving around. SGAmmo is taking care of it, I kept 200 rounds to load magazines for testing and sent the rest back for them to swap. In case no one knows this is the best self defense ammunition for 7.62x39. It is built like a typical varmint bullet with a pre scored jacket to help expansion. Penetration less than 12" in gel while still working great on hard targets like glass, car doors etc. Today I plan on doing some expansion tests if I have time. The original 8M3 dried up about 15 years ago and has been sought after ever since. SGAmmo had the original manufacturer of the bullet do a run of bullets. Then SGAmmo paid Tula to load this ammunition with the 8M3 bullet. They also have sealed primer pockets and case mouths. As soon as I make sure it performs as intended I will be buying a few more cases.

  7. 10 years ago I bought a BERSA Thunder .380. It was my first semi-auto. Early on I shot it quite a bit. Lately not so much. It's relegated to SUV truck gun status in a small essentials bag. Decided to take it to the range earlier in the week. Shoot up the 5 mags of ammo, clean it up and reload with fresh. I had forgotten what a joy it is to shoot and how well I shoot it. It went through 40 rounds of JHP without a missed beat. I probably have 800 reliable round through it now. My Brother in Law brought his stainless Walther PPKs and we both did better with the BERSA and the trigger on the BERSA is "better" than the Walther. What a great gun.

  8. As someone who has worked in transportation for a very long time for multiple companies (including FedEx), I can tell you that most of the issues people have are terminal specific. In other words, the service depends greatly upon the personnel at the facilities through which the freight/packages move. Every different company runs a very similar system to every other. The people are what make most of the difference; however, every company is going to have issues and mistakes and damages and lost freight, etc. As long as human beings are involved, there will be human error. I have had separate customers on the same route serviced by the same driver both hate us and love us. One guy thinks we are the worst carrier in the world, but his neighbor just down the street thinks we are the best. That is just the nature of the business. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  9. Got mine today. A very well made tire gauge (Which I truly needed since I couldn't find mine last week) and a under desk gun magnet. This is perfect now I can get my gun out of my desk drawer. Already tried the gun and it holds it very well. Now to mount it to my desk. Thanks secret Santa. Perfect gifts.

  10. I marked my property lines with orange flag tape just for that reason. My neighbors don't mind but I would rather be on the safe side seeing as there is an agent out here that will always take the extreme view on things.

  14. My UPS guy leaves the packages inside my garage, no kidding. I have a normal door next to the garage door, sometimes its locked sometimes its not, he will always place them inside if unlocked. He also gives my dog a snooby snack or something. He always greets me as Mr. Runco. I have a really nice cool one!

  16. Liked that S&W CORE set up so much, I replaced the EDC with a mini-version Extension was just for giggles, have an x-grip on a 17 rounder. Up in the air about having the slide milled and installing one of those Burris optics on it too since I've got free extras coming in from that rebate thing. just not sure on it yet.

  17. I think this is pretty reckless advice, especially given to a 19 year old who is obviously very eager to carry a loaded handgun. Good luck to anyone trying to convince an officer or game warden that the loaded Glock 19 on your hip is for "snake protection." As OS alluded to earlier, that section you reference encompasses weapons other than firearms, and the exception to fishing/camping is most likely directed at knives, not handguns. I think we should err on the side of caution when giving advice to a youngster who is trying to understand the law. You are giving very far-fetched defenses to an act that could get him into a lot of trouble.

  23. Well, mother nature decided to smile, or grin, on me today, about 8ish I spot my first doe, but she is silhouetted on the ridge, with the road and some trailers behind her so no shot. A few minutes later I spot her, or a different doe, but this time she is traveling toward my hunting zone. So I put the scope on her to line up a clean shot when I spot a second deer further up. I thought it was a wee bit bigger so now I'm in a quandary, I'm hunting for a small doe but now am thinking maybe I should take the bigger one, and in the back of my mind I'm thinking maybe it's a buck. So they both move around me, they started at about my 7 o'clock and couldn't really get clean shot until they reached my 11:30 or so. By that time, I know there are no antlers on either one, and they're small, so now I will go for whichever gives me the best profile for a DRT attempt. Well, the "bigger" of the two is the one so I line up a neck shot and fire, down it goes. But it lands behind a big tree so no follow up shot which I thought it may need since it was kicking a bit. The other deer jumped and ran up the hill when I shot but circled around to check on the other one, giving me some real good angles...but, I was only after one more so even though I scoped her, and thought about it, I gave her a pass. So after all that, I get to the downed deer and it's a button buck, again. I don't know how you guys do it, but at the 100 yard distance, and 4 power, there was no way I could spot those buttons, heck, I can't even count points on bigger bucks most times. Not that I feel bad or anything, they taste great, but I would rather of harvested does instead of button bucks.

  24. I have had my share of issues with UPS over the many years I have been making fishing baits. When I order a 5 gallon pail of plastisol it is shipped in a box for what ever reason. This is something they began doing about 3 years ago. For the other previous 15 years they just shipped it in the pail which is very much easier to handle. Just grab the handle and pick it up. Now you have to cut away the box to gain access to the pail handle. The other issue I have with them is I live in a triplex in Cabin C. For some reason when I get a pail delivered it is either left on front porch of A or B and I don't even know if has been delivered until one of the other tennants tell me. With that said, after many complaints to my supplier about the poor service I finally got the driver to actually bring the carton to the front door of my place but the driver was young lady that could not even pick up the box with the pail in it. I told her I would get it and I went on the truck and cut the box off the pail and picked up the pail and brought it in my house. I told her to take the box with her. She thanked me and that worked only once cause next driver on next order left in on porch B again. The guy that lives in B is a road driver and sometimes is not in town for 2 weeks. So when it said delivered on front porch my son in law went around and hunted it down. Then I filed a complaint and told my supplier I never received the package. They checked it with UPS and their records showed as being delivered to front porch. The driver was sent back out to confirm where he put the package along with a supervisor. They had my phone number and they called me while parked out in front duplex parking area. That was when I went around and brought the driver and the supervisor back to my house that clearly has a big letter C above my door. I showed the supervisor the package and right on the delivery label is states Apt C in the rear. On the front of Apartment B there is a large sign that says Apt C around back with an arrow pointing to my driveway. I was polite but gave the supervisor an ear full of what I had been going through for last couple years. Since then I have ordered 3 pails of material and it is put on my front porch. I guess they finally got the point but only time will tell.

  27. Have you guys seen the inside of a UPS facility? They work like dogs most of the time. I've never worked directly for them but worked in one of the buildings for several months when I was younger. The guys/gals that sort, load, and unload are worked very hard. The drivers deliver in places most of us don't want to drive through. I cut those guys/gals a lot of slack this time of year. At the time the drivers put in for the route they drove. The driver for my area tapped my retaining wall and knocked off the cap block. He offered to come back on his own time to fix it. Had I called in he more than likely would have lost his job. That company isn't easy to work for.

  29. I must thank you again, this is just the type of information I was looking for. Perhaps waiting for a second generation of this might be better. My shooting, the bulk of it anyway, is usually indoors. So that sort of takes the Mepro FT unit off the table for me now.

  35. I hunted yesterday, 25 degrees when I got in the stand. Didn't see anything till 9, and it was 4 does walking behind me. Does are what I'm after but I couldn't tell if they were on my side of the property or on the park side. Figured I wouldn't risk it so came home empty handed. But stand by my decision as tickets and losing deer are definitely worse than not bringing home a deer. Gonna give it another shot Saturday and Sunday.

  37. Caught a huge male this morning. Probably one of the biggest and most aggressive coyote I've come across. Most try to get away but he came at me. The pic is him next to the average female I caught the other night. He makes almost two of her.

  42. Yeah, I did not even have a truck or trailer at that point. Sad, growing up we only heated with wood. We would hire out clearing fence rows and trimming trees. We got paid and used the wood to burn. Any good hard wood got sold as firewood and we burned all the small stuff and "junk" We would work all summer to get enough wood to run the winter. Then spend the fall splitting it.

  44. I have been keeping my eye open for a .357 or .38 revolver for a while. Not a rush, but I like them. My Dad has a Smith .45 Model 1917 that I grew up around. So preference was on a Smith or a Colt. Finally found a guy who said he had a Smith & Wesson Model 10 to trade. Met him and traded. From my research this did not look like a Model 10, but looked good anyway. Got home and started digging. Looks like I am the new owner of a Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police square butt model from the early- to mid-1920s (probably 1924/25). All the Serial numbers match, but the grips are not original. Apparently they are from the '30's and are even rarer than the ones that are supposed to be on it. I had a guy at the Smith forum immediately offer to swap me the correct ones and "a dollar or two extra." I politely declined. All in all I think I got the better end of the deal. I think he thought he just had some old revolver to get rid of. Went and shot it yesterday just out in a field and everything ran smooth. Gave her a good cleaning last night. Gonna test accuracy at the range next time. Also, looking for a nice leather holster for her to live in. The generic Uncle Mikes he gave me with it does not do this gun justice. Just wanted to share my excitement. Rarely do I get this lucky.
