There is a rule spoken in Trauma medicine that strangely never gets mentioned on gun boards. "If the patient was shot with a handgun and makes it alive to the ER, he will PROBABLY live. If shot with a shotgun, he will probably still die." Nonfatal shotgun wounds (especially to the chest and abdomen) typically still result of death from massive trauma and infection usually 2 or 3 days after the shot. Many abdominal wounds from a shotgun make it to surgery with simply no way to sew it back together. Would be analagous to trying to sew a hamburger back into a steak. Not a good way to die.3 points

Unless they are hanging from a metal detector one has to walk through, I rarely, if ever, see these signs you speak of. I'm too busy paying attention to my surroundings. I've never been harmed by a sign, so they tend to get little notice.3 points

It's real simple. If you deprive me of my ability to protect my family from harm I will not enter and spend money in your establishment. The legality of the postings don't weigh into it for me, it's all about the intent. I'm not lacking on places to spend money, I'll go somewhere else.3 points

For the most part, my answer would be yes. I've no reason to go to Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington D.C., etc.2 points

My response to this is simple... Why would you do business with folks that don't share your views or view you as a potential "troublemaker" AKA "...No firewater to the indians.."...? I vote with my dollars... There are plenty of beaneries that do want your business... Gubt is another thing altogether... They have a monopoly... I exclude them from my vote as much as possible by doin business by drivin thru the postal drop and ordering my tags on line... Your mileage may very... boycottin leroy the armed protestor and geezer boycotter...2 points

This is tough. Somewhere past my 10th build, I had just about every tool. Needless to say, I wish I had bought them all up front. Bear in mind that you will need the same tools to do some repairs. For example, if you break a bolt catch, you will need the roll pin tools to swap it out. Watch the videos and figure out what you need, and what you can live without.2 points

Hey Shotgunner, it's never too late to hear about experience in the field. I've heard that if you're saving the hides, the .17HMR makes a small hole going in and explodes inside, without exiting on the other side of the hide. I just put a better scope (BSA Sweet 17), but haven't had a chance to sight it in yet. I'm anxious to see what it will do in the field. Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you and yours.1 point

Maybe useful during TEOTWAWKI if something happens to all your 9mm guns but you still have a pile of 9mm ammo.1 point

And to think I opened this thread thinking it had something to do with buying hats on the internet1 point

Roll pin punches A 1/4" clevis pin Armorers wrench Geiselle Reaction Rod is nice to have but not necessary. Otherwise some way to hold the upper in place. Torque wrench Hammer Screwdriver/allen keys Toothpicks1 point

I guess that is why every chance I get I buy another box of 3 inch Mag 12 gauge rounds to feed my shotgun. I have plenty of other ammo for all my other guns but shotgun was last purchase so still stocking ammo for it.1 point

You are making a large assumption that if rifles and handguns got banned we would actually turn them in.1 point

Is the trigger not resetting? I have had this issue turned out I had the hammer or trigger spring on backwards. If you fire then can push the trigger forward to reset one of the springs is on backwards. Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk1 point

best show there has been in Lebanon, although that's not saying much. decent number of vendors, was there around 1-2 and the crowd was pretty thin. I did see people buying guns and several of the vendors seemed ok with the show. I could not find any jerky!! You could however get your concrete leveled. The disappointment is there is just a bunch of all the same stuff on every table. Mostly modern black guns. I guess that's just the way things are, and are going to be. It may be that shows just peter out. With our gun salesman in chief being booted they may just loose their luster. With the internet it's a gun show every day and 25 buck transfers to dealer near you, I'm afraid it's a dying venue. And it's a shame too. I always enjoyed looking at a variety of guns, but they just don't come out any more.1 point

I think it's funny that the picture they used for an AR-15 shows the selector in the full auto position. Hmmm, trying to imply something?1 point

Ill take one tomorrow. I took the grouping apart and everything was where it is supposed to go. I did go back and make sure the safety detent wasnt upside down. One thing that bugged me is the holding pin would not fit thru disconnector and i had to widen it out a little bit. Now that I think about it, it is either the disconnector or the disconnector spring that seem to be the culprits.1 point

Is anyone else vomiting while listening to the CBS Special Report with O speaking on the future of the Democrat party? I actually was napping and awoke to the liar-in-chief blathering on about all the recent things that have not gone right for the Dems. He so far, has cast doubts on the elections, the process of the elections, the influence of foreign propagandists on the election, the propagandists of the tv, newspapers, internet, and radio talk shows. Pretty much accused them all of taking the "lies" and false reports about the "leaked" information from all sources and running with it to further cast doubt on the "party out of power." Saying that all these things are being used to further divide the country and take them away from the good and knowledgable people in office. That the devision in the country is because we are believing "false" news reports being fed to us by the news media. Well...he is right about the news media, They are all giving us lies from the current administration. I know I'm only hitting a few points, I really can't remember all the bull####(pardon me but that's exactly what it is) he is spewing. He just has to get at least one more time in to further his cause of destroying and ripping this nation apart. Sorry, I'm not usually so impulsive in posting things like this, but I am so frustrated and angered by this pack of lies in a suit that I've lost it today.1 point

Yup. Much like a business w/ poor customer service, or some other quality I don't care for. As a consumer, I have a choice of where to spend my money, and try to make it a point to support businesses and individuals whom I feel deserve it (and vice-versa). - K1 point

Do you boycott the county clerk's office when you need to get a license plate for your new car? What about the hospital that your sick friend is at and you want to visit him? Or do you decline a lunch invitation from a business partner at a 'posted' restaurant and just reply "Sorry can't eat there because I carry" ? It's easy to say to boycott every place that has these signs if you just carry at your local Wal Mart on the weekends. If you truly try to carry all the time then those situations can cause you problems in Tennessee. If I'm in another state that doesn't attach weapons charges to 'posted places', I will generally just carry. I don't go around asking people and businesses about there political beliefs. I keep that to myself. My handgun is concealed for my personal protection. What others do not know about does not hurt them. Too bad the NRA and state gun rights orgs here can't seem to get behind a solid bill to change that sign problem but they can get behind bills that make no practical sense, such as the employer-workplace gun bill this year.1 point

And to deny that business the amount of sales and/or profits from dealing with said business. Sort of a personal boycott if you will.1 point

I honestly don't know what the real truth is after all the casting of doubt I've seen on the web. I do believe that as long as that man put on some of his Santa costume and went to comfort that little boy in such a moment to alleviate his worries over missing Xmas, that the rest seems trivial by comparison.1 point

On my first build, I launched the takedown detent about three times (inside a plastic bag )1 point

Some folks tend to launch detents and springs. I use a utility knife blade to hold them. Haven't launched one yet.1 point

My first two have been kits from PSA (completed uppers) and I already had the tools that I needed to finish the lowers. The only thing that's stopped me from building an upper is the special tools needed. Like you, I don't know if I would build enough to justify the costs. BTW, don't forget the plastic bag1 point

I think this is one of those moments when folks need to just pause for a minute and realize that there are many wonderful people in the world that do go out of their way to help others. I for one still believe in Santa Claus. I will never stop believing in him. Just like I will never stop believing in Jesus Christ. They are both in our hearts and minds to comfort us in a time of need. I think that was the goal when Santa came along centuries ago and Jesus was born to be the ultimate comforter for mankind. That is why I do my best to Keep Christ in Christmas every year and I think that is why Santa Claus comes baring gifts for all the little boys and girls. So they will learn about the reason for the season. Problem is many parents have moved away from telling their children the reason for the Christmas Season. The problem these days is most of the retail world has put the focus on the all mighty dollar and Polictical Correctness that they have lost their way and so have many people. Back when I was little boy and they began showing new toys on TV for Christmas you saw toys. Now for every toy commercial you see, it will be followed up by 3 Jewelry Stores selling diamonds and car companys selling cars with big deals for Christmas. I never saw Santa Claus Park a new Mercedes under anyones Christmas tree when I was a kid!!!!!!!............................JMHO1 point

and people doubt Jesus Christ ....... but they are quick to believe 'hands up don't shoot'. I know from personal and professional experience this story happens daily, just that the nurse, family member, etc., isn't dressed as Santa1 point

I had a guy get road rage on me yesterday simply because he was mad that I merged in front of him. I signaled and waited as long as I could before simply having to move over. He then got really aggressive. I remembered this thread and simply ignored him. Life is too short to get worked up over someone's driving.1 point

You got friends here and you didn't piss me off. What pisses me off is most of the state talks about us like we are a war zone. But the metro area used to be the largest by land size. Don't know if it still is. That means that our population, smaller than Nashville, is spread over a larger area. There are a few small areas where all of these murders are taking place and they are almost always not random. There are some great places around here. But no-one wants to see that.1 point

I went out saturday... brrr! I didn't see any deer, but while walking in to a new stand location, I found an area of the woods that a good sized buck tried to tear down. Maybe he'll cruise by next time I'm out. I probably can't get out again until next week though.1 point
