  1. Friend of mine drove up, handed me this, said Merry Christmas, and drove off. All before I could even get a shot off. KA-BAR Dog's Head. Feels good and balances well. Might become my EDC.

  2. My secret santa must have done some research and saw I like bourbon. He gave me a book on the history and future of bourbon. Two Yeti lowball ramblers and a cool FN hat. Those lowball ramblers will be put to good use. Thanks secret santa.

  4. My thoughts as well. I dunno... this whole post has a whole lotta "wwwhaaaaaaaa?!?!!!??" going on. What did the dude say is wrong with it? The fact that he picked some terrible grips and has a screw loose? (Hahaha! I make joke!)

  5. Several tools that you'll want, but only a couple that you might need. You'll need an upper receiver vice block if you want to make building an upper easy. There are lots of different ones and methods, but I like this one. http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/730930/dpms-upper-receiver-action-block-ar-15-delrin?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Gunsmithing+-+Tools%2C+Jigs+%26+Fixtures-_-DPMS-_-730930&gclid=CPbLsoL99tACFQgOaQod9vAJYw You need some kind of punch set, but a cheap one from home depot or harbor freight will do. A small nylon hammer is useful. I just use an old Pmag for a lower receiver vice block if at all. A torque wrench is useful. You'll need a wrench to fit the barrel nut. Allen wrench if you have a free float handguard, but they usually come with it. Wrench for the nut on the buffer tube is usefull. I've never used the plastic bag, but I have crawled on the garage floor with a flashlight before Safety glasses.

  7. I think this is one of those moments when folks need to just pause for a minute and realize that there are many wonderful people in the world that do go out of their way to help others. I for one still believe in Santa Claus. I will never stop believing in him. Just like I will never stop believing in Jesus Christ. They are both in our hearts and minds to comfort us in a time of need. I think that was the goal when Santa came along centuries ago and Jesus was born to be the ultimate comforter for mankind. That is why I do my best to Keep Christ in Christmas every year and I think that is why Santa Claus comes baring gifts for all the little boys and girls. So they will learn about the reason for the season. Problem is many parents have moved away from telling their children the reason for the Christmas Season. The problem these days is most of the retail world has put the focus on the all mighty dollar and Polictical Correctness that they have lost their way and so have many people. Back when I was little boy and they began showing new toys on TV for Christmas you saw toys. Now for every toy commercial you see, it will be followed up by 3 Jewelry Stores selling diamonds and car companys selling cars with big deals for Christmas. I never saw Santa Claus Park a new Mercedes under anyones Christmas tree when I was a kid!!!!!!!............................JMHO

  12. Let me begin by saying that my Wife and I have both fed up with and ready to leave Washington State. As I'm sure you all know we are not alone and have had enough of the libtards and millionaire meddlers that are destroying the beautiful PNW. We are both NRA Life Members and tend to be somewhat conservative. We cherish our gun rights and our Constitution, all of which are not real popular beliefs in our area. We are not sure yet where we want to go but unfortunately no matter how hard we try our leglislature has been for the most part "bought & paid for" so it is a loosing battle and we are rapidly loosing our Constitutional freedoms here in the West. We are not sure if Tennessee is the place for us yet but you certainly have a beautiful State. We've been looking in White County and so far what we've seen there looks beautiful. If we do make the move we are definitely not looking to "change things" like the kalifornians have done here, but would rather assimilate and learn to be productive members of a Society we are are loosing here. Anyhow........enough of that. I'm looking forward to learning more about Tennessee............thanks for letting me rant........

  18. Yea, a bit lost here too. So you get a gun from a friend for $500 he says will buy it back..doesnt so you sell for $500 to a member who borrows $ from a neighbor (?). Member changes (or loses)his mind, brings it back with pink grips and a missing screw so you give him $400 for it. If I have this right, I would buy a screw and keep it as is. First, imagine the humiliation for a crook being stopped or shot by a pink gun, then imagine the possibilities of what you can do with the spare c note.

  22. I built my first several with some mechanical aptitude, caution and some hand tools and good walk throughs. I think I built at least the first three with no dedicated gunsmithing tools. These days I have some specific (way more expensive than they need to be - but supply and demand - whatever) tools for the rails that I have an affinity for. But you can do plenty if you go slow. A good AR barrel wrench/multi tool, a vice block (assuming you have a vice to put it in), some roll pin punches and a roll of blue painter's tape would probably be the go to tools to get you started that if you look around ought to be less than $75.

  23. If ya want a Glock 20, get one and shoot Underwood Ammo in it for full 10 mm ballistics... If ya want a large, comfortable to shoot pistola for plinkin and reasonable self defense; buy an aftermarked 40 S&W barrel (...mine is a $105 Lone Wolf...)... I guarantee ya will shoot lots more 40 SW in your pistola after the "new novelty" wears off than the 10 MM stuff... By the way, the 10 MM aint a "rimless 41 mag"... It might be a pretty good "rimless 357 mag"... The 10 MM brings the first reasonable attempt to get "magnum performance" out of a large size autoloader with plenty of capacity... If ya are into capacity, 15 rounds of 10 MM is hard to beat... If ya are into powerful ballistics, ya simply cant beat the big revolvers of any flavor, from 41 Mag up to whatever... What ya sacrifice with them is capacity... That's the story as i see it... By the way, lest ye "fan boys and girls" think i'm besmirtchin the greatness of the 10 MM; i aint... I own two of 'em... I keep a 40 SW barrel in one and 10MM in the other... I've also got some real big pistolas in the safe as well and i handload for all of em... 10 MM leroy....

  24. http://www.fool.com/investing/2016/11/26/the-5-best-selling-handguns-of-2016.aspx If you were going to write a gun story wouldn’t you do some fact checking? The Shield was introduced in 2012; they are talking about the full size. Again… the full size. Good to see S&W at the top of the heap though.

  25. and people doubt Jesus Christ ....... but they are quick to believe 'hands up don't shoot'. I know from personal and professional experience this story happens daily, just that the nurse, family member, etc., isn't dressed as Santa

  27. The Shield comes in 9mm, 40 S&W, and .45 full auto calibers, and is widely used by law enforcement and military personnel Never heard of .45 full auto, is it new? Fact checking? How about proof reading?

  28. Motley Fool doesn't let facts get in the way of it's click baiting! (I've done some investing and used to respect that site for it's even handed common-sense investment advice, but they've really gone to the dogs in the last several years - clearly an article designed to talk up someone's book and get people to click on the link). Oh, it must just be coincidence that the top 2 company's are the only publicly traded manufacturers... pure co-inkydink. - K

  29. 460 a compensator is required IMO, keeps the recoil down to G20 level and plastic block together. 10 round mags, or Rowland mag springs, or longer / weighted slide needed to feed reliability. I owned a G20 and loaded so hot slide would outrun feeding so comp was required, no difference. G21 with comp same as length as G41. 45 super level no comp required and covers 10mm ballistics. The 40super is barrel swap, necked round feeding .40" bullet in .45" hole so reliable feeding, same bullet selection from underwood as the 10mm loads but you get +150fps which is a lot from a pistol. You should buy a barrel with chamber support for hot 10mm so same cost. You lose 2 rounds in standard mag but have kriss mag options for reliable 25 round 45 or 40 super. Heck, buy a 10mm conversion barrel for G21. The 21 wins hands down in my eyes. The only reason I'd own a 20 over 21 is if I was only loading fourty caliber bullets. Back on topic, buy the G20 if it is your preference. There is another option so if buying underwood or buffalo bore for woods use and 40 super in a G21 should be considered; swap barrels back to 45 acp for nightstand and cheaper range use than 10mm.

  30. Welcome fellow refugee! We moved here 26 months ago from Ulster county NY for exactly the same reasons. Being mountain folks, I needed elevation and find the 2000' elevation of the Cumberland plateau just right. Up to 8 deg. cooler than Cookeville in mid summer and same for winter. The elevation keeps the humidity to a bearable level. Here in Crossville, one third of the population moved here since 2000 so I have had zero kick back unlike some other areas you may encounter regardless of your way of thinking. All the gun lovers here at our new Church have all been outstanding First Rate Americans! God... how we Love "This" country. The worst thing is a lot of folks cant imagine how bad the libs have destroyed the other parts of our Nation. Credit must be given to the TN native forefathers for their social beliefs. Otherwise TN would not be the TN we can enjoy today as newbs. Welcome! Oh, Citydata .com is your friend on stats. You will find presidential voting results there per county going back a number of cycles.

  32. Food for thought: there are tons of stories of AKs being buried and being found by soldiers who picked them up and fired them. Most everything we hear on the internet is useless crap that is blown out of proportion. Small problems turn into massive failures on the part of one particular brand. I believe Abraham Lincoln said "Don't believe everything you read on the internet." Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk

  37. Yeah, I read that story yesterday and thought about how upsetting an experience it would have been. As much as I like little kids seeing one hurt or sick is very difficult for me. I'm really grateful that there are still people who'll do this kind of volunteer work for children.

  39. What he said. The G20 is a great woods gun. Great combination of capacity and power. I also second his recommendation of Underwood ammo. That's all I shoot for the most part.

  40. There is no difference if you are buying bulk manufactured ammunition. You get bragging rights about how much you spent to have longer brass. You have to reload or spend the bucks buying boutique shop ammunition to exceed 40s&w ballistics. Looks like you already have it covered, but if you have money and want the G20 got it. IMO you have better options with the G21 using 45acp-45super-460rowlnd

  43. I'm thinking about knocking on a couple of my neighbors doors. I can see their houses from mine line of sight, half mile to 1.5 miles. They have charter cable. If they would agree I could install a wireless bridge at their house and use it to tap their internet. There are some wireless devices that will go a few miles and aren't all that expensive so it should work without a problem. Question is would they be willing for me to do this? I don't know them.

  45. I'm sure you already know that if you let the libtards in they will eventually take over everything, they are like a cancer that rots your society from the inside out. They start out small, taking positions no one else wants, school board.........etc., and before you know it they have a voting block you can't outvote. It all seems so "common sense"......at first.

  47. TN also says you have to have a permit to keep that loaded pistol in your car in posted lots, school property, or places previously banned by employer policy. Because it wants as few people with guns on its property as possible I guess. And like the state, perceives folks with permits to be more responsible than the general gun packer. - OS

  48. I suspect this bolsters the profiling of at risk individuals by Human Resources. At my work recently, we had to participate and train our own employees on what to do in case of a active shooter. Run, Hide & Fight. I think the training was good, long over due, except in the power point training the portion of what to look for in a proactive stance and let management know. I am still struggling with the profiling, one example of which could include me. Example, if a work colleague is obsessed with guns, especially military weapons, this person may be at high risk. I assume I am on this list. White, Middle Age, Overweight, Obsessed with guns, and I have a HCP. I guess I need to cover-up or tear off my TGO sticker on my truck.
