As the title states the Nashville area is not the sound out. I would like to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of my TGO members and all that follow this wonderful forum. Thanks to Dave and all the moderators for keeping the place clean ( even for letting me stay). I am greatfull for everything I have, my family, my new granddaughter, my wonderful guns, and to be at my old age of 57. Life is good .... Bless you all.4 points

Rural King will have 10% off all firearms & ammo in stock Thurs-Sat. Here's where it gets good: they will have Remington UMC 9mm (115 gr) on sale for $10.39/50 rounds. Remington is offering a $5 rebate per ANY 50 round box of UMC bought Thurs-Sun. If you don't mind waiting for the rebate check that ends up being $5.39/box for the 9mm.3 points

Nice. The '06 is about as classic as it gets in my opinion. I killed my first deer with a Remington 742 Woodsmaster and we always used 165gr Core-Lokt off the shelf ammo. It always did everything I wanted it to do. I had a garand as well and it's one of the few guns I ever regret selling. My 280AI may go up for sale soon as well. I have a Kimber 280AI that is a great shooter but I have been wanting to get another 30-06 and have been eyeing a cooper arms excalibur I just need santa to drop off a pile of cash and I'm all set. And yes, you definitely need a 1911 as well!!!!!2 points

AA already responded, they are paying for shipping both ways and said they would take care of it.2 points

I'll second what is said here. in my opinion it's a pay now or pay later situation. unfortunately the pay later can be more costly and emotionally taxing. Be patient with your search and find the right breeder then the right pup. Many breeders intentionally do not have litters this time of year due to puppies making the WORST Christmas gifts ever.2 points

A few friends and I just leased some property this year. The one area I usually hunt is too small to carry a rifle on so that place is a muzzleloader or bow area only. Taking a couple deer off the new place makes it worth doing. The rifle I used this morning hasn't killed a deer in probably twenty years. The 7400 was passed down to me many years ago and I put it in the safe as a gun to hand down at some point. The 06 did its job. Being bucked out, I have to focus on coyote with the .22 mag and taking pictures with the big camera.2 points

It passes inspection here! Go to Wal Mart and get a box of 150 grain Remingtons. You'll be in love when you see how it shoots.1 point

I'm pretty sure it hasn't seen a full box of ammo. I need to run the number, but I believe it's an '81 model. It's the 'Westerner' version without the bottom metal, but....SO pretty! Sent from a mountain somewhere, using telepathy.1 point

You and I think alike. You can always count on Primary Arms to deliver the awesome deals.1 point

Not on ammo but at least a quantity discount. At $35.00 a pop I wonder what quantity will get you a discount? Cases are stainless steel and can be reloaded several times. 20x138 Loaded ammunition $35 each + shipping (truck freight only) with quantity discounts available.1 point

Not so sure it would even require a 4473. It's pre-1898, technically not even a gun. They could mail it to your door.1 point

Hot damn, think I'll run over there and get it then -- it was only the 200 clams and 9 month wait that was deterring me! - OS1 point

My letter to Santa includes a Fender Mustang 1. Seems like the sweet spot for me in price, features, and size. It also connects via USB for the FUSE software so I can add a couple of additional sounds if I'm not totally satisfied with the presets. If I really like playing guitar a lot, I'm sure I can pick up something higher end later. Thanks for the tips, everyone.1 point

I'll show ya mine if ya show me yours! I like 150 grain cup & core bullets for deer. 165s would work fine as well. Save the 170s and 180s for bigger stuff. IMR 4064, 3031, and 4350 all work well in the 06. I've yet to find bad brass for one. The WalMart Remington 150 grain green box loads will shoot good as anything you'll find, and will kill deer dead. ^^^The "original" aught six!1 point

If you can't find one soon, you can get in line for one from Passion for Golden's in Clarksville. http://passionforgold.homestead.com/index.html . I am getting one from her in January, but she told me it will be a small litter and she may not have enough puppies for those interested. She only breeds a couple of times a year, but the dogs have health certifications for multiple generations. That was one reason I have waited this long. They aren't cheap either as the companion dogs are $1500. I will get a second from the pound as I think there are plenty of great dogs out there who need homes. I had a Golden as my very first dog when I was on my own and I have a very special place for them is the only reason I am getting one from the breeder. There are also a couple of Golden Rescue's in southern and middle TN. http://tvgrr.com/Adoptable-Goldens.html http://www.adoptagoldennashville.org/orphans.html1 point

So, I decided to modify my 5.45 VEPR. Had to modify my handguard to work since VEPRs are beefy. Not the best pic, but it'll do for now.1 point

Probably cheaper to buy a new FCG than send it back. And if you want I can give it a once over as well as do your trigger for you, after it is working correctly. What is likely the problem is there is not enough engagement between the hammer and trigger. I have seen some "budget" triggers that do not have the nose of the trigger machined. They are as cast and look similar but they act exactly like you are describing. When you release the trigger enough for the hammer to fall off the disconnect there isn't enough engagement between the hammer and trigger to keep the hammer from following. There is not an easy fix other than replace the trigger. What you can try is filing the underside of the nose of the disconnect. That will give the disconnect a little more engagement and hopefully let the hammer grab. Even if you were able to file and get it to work I would never trust it because at some point it could randomly start doing it again. And if that happens at a public range with an overzealous off duty LE officer you might find yourself answering some questions at a minimum and potentially in a lot of hot water. Not worth risking it for the cost of a new FCG. Might call the manufacturer and discuss it with them. Never know it might be a batch of guns that were bad and they are completely aware. I would also suggest they send you a new FCG and you return the old one. That would be easier and cheaper on both of you but they still might want to inspect the gun. Sounds like that new binary trigger someone started selling. One the single shot position it is single shot but in the third position it fires on pull AND release. That binary trigger is several hundred dollars. BTW, will the selector go past semi? Just making sure it isn't a binary trigger.1 point

Men, I've been waiting for a while to write a review for this one. This past Saturday I was fortunate to kill a deer. The knife you see above was used to field dress it. It performed flawlessly! It came from Sybo with a razor edge, ready to use. The knife is perfectly balanced and felt like an extension my hand while opening up the deer. It's weighted and shaped to cut just enough without applying excess pressure. I'm thoroughly satisfied with the knife and highly recommend it for hunters. Even after dressing out the deer the knife is surprisingly still razor sharp and ready for another one. Thanks Sybo! Mike1 point

I missed out on the last one so I'll definitely jump in on this one. I also was not aware that Orca was located here in Tennessee.1 point

Yeah, I only have one spot I go to, but it has been productive so far. Seen a total of four today, only one let me scope her but no good angle. Did see a fox though, kinda cool watching it catch, something, then sit and sun itself. Going out again tomorrow , and all week until I get something.1 point

Are they already at this price? If so, do you recall if they had plenty? I have told the wife she can get me this for Christmas, love to avoid Friday shopping if possible. Actually disregard my question. I went to Academy's website, already marked down to $99 and free shipping. Great deal, and ggwilde by your posting now saves me or the wife from running to Knoxville. What a deal. Academy's direct link for the sled, BTW ad says $99, then once you click on the ad, its $109.99, but in the cart its $99 and free shipping too!: http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/caldwell-lead-sled-dft-shooting-rest#repChildCatid=334961 point

Back in 1993, the Brady Bill and separately the Assault Weapons ban were enacted. I was an opportunist and cashed in as a new FFL gun shop owner on the fear it sent through people. I enjoyed very good successes, but within 2 years that bubble busted, and my sales dropped over 75%. I couldn't make it! Finished my college degree, and sold the business, and live the 8 to 5 life working professionally for industry. Those were the best years when you can combine a hobby that you love with a business that you run. I met a lot of good people that told hundreds of stories from guns, hunting, to personal sad stories. We didn't have the internet back then, but I enjoyed researching sources for a special gun/part that one of customers were wanting. Man, I miss being in the business at that level. Running a business when it is your sole income taught me a lot that still spills over to this day. The takeaway from my story, I suspect many gun shops have enjoyed a good run. Have made lots of money. If they used that money to pay down debt maybe they will survive. Hopefully they own their site instead of renting. However, I suspect many will fail in the next 1-2 years due to over saturation of the market and no high demand. Supply and Demand principals will always make or break you unless you are flushed with cash.1 point

Hey, thanks! At the end of the day, I guess I'm really just an engineer who's interested in people and the ways in which things work. I'm long on this American experiment, and I suppose as a father, taxpayer and business owner I've got some skin in the game. The thing I absolutely love the most in life is getting to watch people do stuff they're awesome at - and I really don't care what it is. Whether you're researching cancer vaccines or running conduit in perfect rows doesn't make a difference. I'm just as fascinated by someone who can run heavy equipment setting bridge trusses as I am in meeting with world leaders. It doesn't matter. If you're good at, I'm interested. One of the things I really love about this board is getting to know individual member's stories. Because truthfully, I'm certain we've got hundreds of really fascinating folks on here. Frankly, that's why I encourage good debate. I expect we've all got something we can learn from folks on here.1 point

I'm going to take a different tact... DON'T BECOME COMPLACENT! With a 2A-friendly President incoming and a GOP-controlled House and Senate, now is the time to keep pushing for gains in favor of the Second Amendment. Push hard for the changes in legislation that we want to see! The fight isn't over. The fight is never over. Reagan wasn't as strong of a 2A ally as folks think, but he was a smart man and he wisely observed that freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.1 point

While browsing gunbroker, I ran across a gun that spoke to my soul.... So I bid on it and was the only bidder.... I'll post better pictures when it gets here. It takes the obsolete 7.5 Swiss Ordnance round, which there are none to be found online for sale. So I'll probably just be sitting around fondling it for a while. Anybody else have one? It should make a good accompaniment to my K31 and 1896/111 point
