  1. I scored a nice six pointer a little before 11. The deer were really moving to give me 4 opportunities. Hung it up, cleaned and reloaded the rifle, and now in back I the stand!

  2. I'm sure it'll make it to the SCOTUS eventually. Thank God we're not looking at a hillary appointed court.

  3. Finally got on my laptop and was able to get the pictures uploaded. Also, pulled my card today and had several videos of this deer this week and hadn't seen him before. Pretty cool to see him. The first video I watched is in the morning while I'm in the stand and never knew he was around. The second video at 426pm is when he was coming toward my stand. So thankful for this harvest, he was a good lookin 2 1/2 year old. Nevermind, videos are too big. Maybe I'll upload them to my YouTube and post them later.

  4. I really shouldn't get too upset over it. With the unbelievable volume of ammo produced from literally all over the world; it's amazing we all don't see more problems than we do.

  5. Just call me Elmer Fudd for today. Deer #1 at less than 10 yards, I pull the trigger and get a "click." Somehow my cap had fallen off, no idea how. Deer #2 30 yards, pop, but no bang. Deer #3 50 yards, pop, no bang. Pulled my breech plug, one of the miss fires had caused the load to evacuate the barrel. Cleaned everything out, waiting on deer #4. And this is why I don't support the movement of single shot rifles being included I the muzzle loader season.

  6. I had a good day! I have very limited Internet service from deer camp and so I can't get an image to upload. Will post as soon as I'm able.

  7. Friend of mine today showed me this. This is exactly how some of my guns feel now after the election! Probably already posted here already, but deserves its own post. Love it!!!!!!

  8. I've had some good experiences with the M&P models. I've been carrying my full size .40, but I've been wanting something a little lighter, and a little brighter just to add some diversity to the collection. I got a pretty good deal on this 9c from Goodlettsville Gun Shop, and picked it up on Election Day.

  9. If the firearms industry was untied, and held government sales to state and municipal level agencies to the standards they put on their citizens...these places would come around riki tik.

  10. I'll be out tomorrow morning. Can't wait. Weather looks great for Saturday. 62/32. Going to hunt the woods in the AM and fields in the PM if I don't harvest something in the AM hours. Walked right up on one last Saturday morning at 4:45AM. Had my green LED headlamp and the doe didn't even know I was there. I was probably 10-15 feet away. Also taking a new hunter with me (colleague from work) but he is going to bow hunt.

  16. A valid criticism this election cycle has been whether or not certain evangelical leaders have a sold out to the power of politics - overlooking Trumps moral failings in return for the promise of a as yet undefined "conservative" agenda. Russell Moore, who's sort of a public theologian out of the Southern Baptist Convention recently gave the Erasmus lecture at First Things, a Catholic publication concerned with the intersection of faith and civic life. Moore deals with the question of the religious right, and whether it can/should be saved. While I don't come from either of these traditions, I really appreciated the commentary. While I expect the audience for this will be quite small, if you enjoy podcasts and such, it's well worth an hour of your time.

  17. I wouldn't call this a Glock failure, it's an ammunition problem. it's a bit extreme to blame the weapon for this. There are many contributing factors to malfunctions wear, maintanence, ammunition, etc all can be a factor. Troubleshoot the problem, don't loose faith in your weapon over one event.

  19. I hear this quite often with aluminum cased ammo and you never see it at Glock GSSF Match, always Brass case. I have never shot it for this reason. Your Brass does not jam tells you everything. Never had a Glock jam after thousands and thousands rounds and a G22 range gun that was never cleaned for four years. I had a Beretta 92FS that was good for about 800 rounds and then would quit until cleaned.

  20. I had several FTE problems today. I was using a combination of older ammo, all 9mm. Some Blazer aluminum case, some Freedom Munitions reloads, and some old PMC. The Blazed gave no trouble at all. Nor did the PMC. But the Freedom Munitions did. In both a G19 and a Roni carbine shell with a G17. Several times. I've had several issues with the Freedom products lately, from the FTEs to a couple of split cases and cases jamming in the barrel throat with the primer base being ejected. It's enough that I'm beginning to think that the FM rounds I have(several thousand) may be relegated to last case use status. Maybe I shouldn't say that. I've had good luck with their products in the past.

  21. I understand that. My father-in-law once paid 500 for that privilege as well. But he got to do it from the deck of a Huey. It's been probably 10 years ago, and it gets mentioned now and then. lol

  22. It's a bad place. You almost always leave with a gun Hell, when I was working on an extraction op to save this pistol, they were talking about someone bringing in an m134 minigun for a shoot .. WTF now I want to buy $500 worth of .308 to pull a trigger for 2 seconds on something.

  23. Unreal. Those are some freakish looking deer. Not very attractive if you ask me. Sort of equate that with a botched boob job.

  24. Just returned from Nashville - Vegas on SWA. Vegas customer rep tried to tell me I had to have a TSA lock on the gun case. Showed him SWA policy that said ONLY the customer could have access to the gun case, and putting a TSA lock on it kinda eliminated that. After his initial confusion, he still insisted it should be a TSA lock, but he let me go on. I e-mailed SWA later, giving my reservation # (so they can identify him), and said that he was very nice, polite and largely competent, but he's giving out wrong information. They responded, confirming that he was wrong, and said he would be counseled. BTW, first time I've done it this way in checked luggage. Always took a small metal gun "safe" before that has combination lock and a small cable, that I can loop through the handle frame that's inside the suitcase, so that even if they get in the suitcase, they can't remove the gun case without a cable cutter. this time I put 3 loaded magazines in a factory plastic gun case; padlocked it; and ran the cable through the padlock hasp. Eazy-peazy !! Worked like a charm. Also, confirming what others said, they didn't even ask to view it being empty. Showed it to them - "lock it up" !. Okey-dokey.....

  39. I was going to say something similar but my measure is when I can walk into Walmart and they have Federal, Winchester, Remington and CCI .22LR ammo all on the shelf (which I haven't seen on their shelves all at once in more than eight years) as well as bulk packs and all in quantities that mean I'm not taking half the available stock if I buy two boxes. I don't think we will ever see 2008 or even 2012 pricing, again, because - as someone else said - of inflation and natural price increases. Even if .22LR supplies had remained at normal levels I don't think the prices would be the same four years later. After all, pretty much ever other ammo type and caliber has gone up in pricing in the past four to eight years from 9mm (the same stuff I got for $8 and change in 2008 is around $11, now) to .38 Special (that stuff has really gone up - ammo that cost about $16 per 50 in 2008 is running in the mid $20s range, now.) Honestly, I just want to be able to comfortably (and affordably) get back to shooting .22LR the way I did as recently as 2007 and early 2008 - meaning pretty much every weekend and even sometimes through the week through various rifles and handguns - and to be able to find Winchester Dynapoint .22 WMR on the shelf at Wally whenever I want it (it isn't the best but I love punching paper with that stuff and it was around $8 for a box of 50 but I haven't even seen any in over eight years other than on my ammo shelf.)

  41. Rememebr that 22LR is just a gateway caliber. It stars with BBs then 22 and then the next their you know they are hooked on 556.

  42. I'm a hoarder by nature, so yea I have a buttload of mags, etc, but that's ot necessarily election related. Funny enough, the last gun I bought was a single shot 444 Marlin... not exactly on the endangered species list, lol!

  47. Was about to post that. So, it's really splitting legal hairs one way or the other. Meaning, if you don't register, and they find out and fire you or whatever, did they take action against you for having the gun in the car or simply for breaking company policy. - OS
