  1. This a pretty dog gone nice axe forged out by a friend of mine. Same one who made the bowie for his Dad. Forged out of a ball peen hammer. Hickory handle done with a draw knife. Said he finished it in antique bronze. I does look darker than what that third pic shows. He also burned the rope design into the handle. I thought that was a neat touch, and it adds a little grip. Soon as I can get to it I'm gonna make him a belt hanger and blade cover for it. I think the handle's about 18".

  4. And many others. I think that was why it was so emotional for many of us who grew up around the area and are what I call true blood Cubs fans. I remember coming home from school to my Grandma's and she always had the Cubs game on in the afternoon. She didn't hardly miss a game. This was before there were lights in the stadium. This was just as much about those we have lost who didn't get to see this day as it is for us. I loved Bill Murray's comments after the game. He said his mom died something like 29 years ago yesterday. He said this was about his mom, dad, grandfather, uncles, etc. I know many of us have the same feelings. Go Cubs Go!

  5. Don't ask, don't tell. They have no legal right to demand a copy of your HCP. If someone willingly complies, it's because honest people want to be honest. Which in this case would be dumb. Do they keep a copy of your driver's license in the event that you want to park a car on their property?

  11. Delivered this one Monday. He first wanted a friction sheath, then decided he also wanted a retention strap on it. Thought on it a while and decided to make a normal friction sheath and just bring the top slightly higher. Then I cut the slot almost even with the top. The vertical sides of the slot are cut at about a 45 deg angle from left to right. Now he can use it without the strap and the slot won't be noticed, or he can insert the strap inside the belt loop from the right hand side and up through the slot. This is the first one I've actually gotten paid for. He likes it so far.

  12. Just had a glass and it is really good. The first flavor you pick up is a little sweet and then you start picking more traditional whiskey flavors as a little heat builds and finishes with a subtle smokey flavor. The guy who sold it said it was almost a cross between a scotch and bourbon. I really liked it. It is pricey. They had two other Japanese whiskeys that were less expensive, in the $80 range, that he said were very good also. I am going to try those next.

  13. After Maduro shut down the recall election two weeks ago the consensus is that Venezuela is now officially a dictatorship. Unfortunately, Maduro doesn't have the charisma that Chavez had. And, as a former bus driver he doesn't have the skills to run a country either. They'll kill him before it's done. I pray for the people there. Hard to believe that only 30 years ago they were more or less a first world economy. It ought to be a cautionary tale of how quickly a strongman can screw stuff up with the support of public willing to turn their heads because they're getting promised what they think they want.

  14. It’s been 108 years since the Cubs last won a World Series and that number is quite significant: There are 108 stitches in a baseball, designed by the Cubs first manager and ace pitcher A.G. Spalding, whose Chicago office was originally located at 108 W. Madison Street. The left and right field corners at Wrigley Field are 108 meters from home plate. First pitch for the Cubs is always at 7:08 p.m. CST, which is 19:08 military time. 1908, the last time the Cubs won it all. Cubs win the World Series in the 1989 film “Back To The Future Part II,” which is 108 minutes long.

  15. Heck yeah and even though they weigh so little , they can draw down and scoop up a rabbit , small dog , or whatever and take off with it. They don't weigh much but can grab much more heavier things . They are extremely silent during flight. When I deer hunt , if I ever see a Great Horned Owl , I feel as if I am satisfied even if I don't get a deer that day. Those birds are AWESOME.

  16. Great Horned Owls are really cool. The power in their feet is amazing. Also amazing how something that big can be so quiet. Pound for pound.... all 3lbs of them.

  17. pretty amazing, loveable losers no more. I have been to lots of games at Wrigley, They always flew the W flag after a win. When did the W flag become something for fans to wave, t shirts hats etc... wasn't like that when I was there. I am really happy for the franchise, the city and its fans. Wow!

  18. There are really no specific weights tied to the calibers. In general, 9mm standard weight is 5.5oz but are made up to 7.5oz(I run a 7.5oz in my supressed 9mmAR). I believe the 45 runs around 8.5oz. A lot has to do with carrier weight as they work in conjunction. Not all buffers are created equally, I'd suggest checking out heavybuffers.com or contacting Rudy @ Macon Armory(he build lots of 45 blowback guns).

  25. You can be fired in Tennessee for breathing wrong. they don't need an excuse to terminate anyone. that said I'd tell them to pound sand. it's non of their business if you have a hcp or if you have a firearm in you car.

  26. Travelled southbound today. No traffic ahead, set my cruise to 45. State Trooper observed giving a ticket; be a part of the solution, not the problem and observe the speed limit for 9 miles. Never had to touch my brake, so a better experience than 55 with some wanting to make a left or slowing down for a side road or driveway

  27. While I understand the logic of an offset on a fence to be safe, to me you just "forfeited" that land to the other property owner. The future property line becomes the fence line is most people's minds years down the road. Not saying that's right, but perception is reality. If it was me and there wasn't any law requiring an offset, and if the property line wasn't in dispute, I put it as close to the line as possible without going over.

  28. Obviously the immediate threat was not over as they turned and fired at her. We need our fleeing forcible felon statutes back. If you threaten someone with a gun; you should be shot. You shouldn’t get a pass because you turned to run and got shot in the back.

  32. This is my first year with the 300 BLK so no hunting results yet there. It actually was the 300 that caused me to research and try the light for caliber Nosler with the 308. I'm hoping to put both to the test here in a couple of weeks. I've only found one 150gr bullet over the years from the 308 and that was a lengthwise shot that ended up under the skin under the neck. What a mess! I had a quartering away shot that was solid until the deer hunched down to jump a small limb just as the trigger broke. No blood for about 25 yards through a very tight thicket but at 30 yards the blood trail was unmistakeable. I salvaged the meat by acting fast to get him cleaned up and washed out but I hope to never make one of those shots again.

  38. The danger is not who will come and take our guns under a Hillary presidency. The danger lies in the slow incremental creep of laws passed and politicians put into office at all levels of government due to the apathy of the general 2A supporting public. This is why it's important to vote in the local elections as well as the big one. Be active in your local community and donate to those who fight on our behalf, big and small. Just my opinion. But, to answer the original question.. I lost all my guns in Hurricane Katrina.

  39. Not me, those things are dangerous. I had a staple gun once, but it made me nervous even having it unloaded in the garage. I turned it in at a buyback to make sure it stayed off the street. They didn't give me anything for it, but I felt better knowing I had done my community a service.

  40. Another "what if" thread.... If that's all I asked myself everyday, I'd never get out of bed. "What if my car won't start... what if I lose my job... what if the TGO server is down?" You're right @RED333 this keeps coming up. If "they" are gonna overturn the 2A and bust down doors to seize our guns, then they're gonna have to overturn the 4A to find them.
