  5. I'm still more creeped out by the head bashing lineup at the blood trough at Terminus. The simulated sound of that aluminum bat hitting their noggins one after the other down the line is still most shiver inducing for me. - OS

  7. Just received a vintage Savage 340 30-30! Here's what makes it special. This is my grandfather's rifle he used to put food on his family and neighbors families tables in the rural Ozark mountains of northern Arkansas. My grandfather died at the age of 28 from what is believed to be an aneurysm, not too long after returning from Korea. My dad was only 5 years old and this rifle was one of the few possessions my grandfather had that my father was able to keep through the years, house fires, and normal life issues. My grandfather purchased the rifle through the only general store in the little town they lived in, probably from a Belknap catalog. I do have the catalog as well! Probably purchased sometime in late 1950 or early 1951. Which is pretty cool as well since the 340 came out in 1950. Also have the original box of ammo that my grandfather had at the time of his death with 4 shells left in the box! Gun isn't a high value gun but it's priceless to me. To hold in my hands the tool the man I never got to meet, used to feed his family. The gun my father used to kill his prized mounted 10 pointer the day I was born ... It doesn't get any better than that.

  9. I stopped by a friends pawn shop today to browse & spotted something that I apparently couldn't live without for another day. A stainless Ruger P89 in 9mm in really nice condition. I've never owned or even had the chance to shoot one, but most of what I hear from owners is positive. It certainly has a hefty feel & I like the grips. I regret selling my P95DC a few years back without ever shooting it. I'll make sure this one gets some range time.

  10. Realized I hadn't posted any pictures recently of my leather work projects. These are a couple "prototypes" that I'm working on. First up is a "convertible/multi-use" holster, or so the line of thought went. Every portion is removable and can be left out or a different one can be put on. -Pocket sleeve -Tuckable IWB with spring clips, however it's also punched for soft loops -Completely ambidextrous -Appendix carry if that's your thing -Magazine can be relocated to weak side if desired. I've been wearing the design around for a couple days now and it's really not as bad as I thought it might be off the bat. Thoughts welcome. Second up is a canted double magazine pouch. Friend of mine asked if I had ever done one like that and if so, what it was like. I hadn't so I made this one. It's really a lot nicer I think the way the magazines are angled versus straight up. The pattern needed some work so I've made a new one at this point but haven't put it to leather yet. I also made a second single pouch pattern. Trying to get both done tomorrow night or this weekend. For anyone who does Instagram my handle there is the same as here and there are a lot more pictures on there.

  12. Here's the Bowie my buddy hammered out for his Dad. He still has some finish work to do on it. He was shooting for straight up old school on the knife, and I was shooting for the same with the sheath, all of which fits his Dad to a "T." It's going to be mounted on this block with another small knife my buddy made some time ago for his Dad's friend, who unfortunately passed away a while back. It's all gonna be placed on the block together, with a small handmade plaque. I feel about like a kid at Christmas. I cannot wait to see his face, especially since he thinks he's getting just the knife itself. I think he's going to present it to him this Sunday morning before church. I might try to go down there for that before I go to my church. I think a lot of this gentleman, and it brought me a whole lot of joy to be able to take part in this project for him. I'll post another picture when he gets it all done and put together.

  13. Thanks to divotmaker on here, I picked up an X95 this morning. Was up in the air on buying a bolt .338 gun over the past few weeks, then this little nugget popped up in the classifieds. No major mods going on it, drop in a trigger pack, pop on some optics and get a gas seal. yay.

  14. I usually soak any meat in buttermilk that I want to fry but I tried doing what everyone else does and did it in eggwash. It worked out good, here's my chickenfried deer steak strips. And to keep this firearm related , I shot this deer last year with my home defense Mossberg 500 LOL. I sold my muzzleloader and my lever-action rifle so I now hunt with shotgun. I had a lot more strips but this was the first batch out of the pan. This was some front leg meat .

  19. I happened upon a set of 30mm Redfield rings at Academy this morning. It was the only ones they had and were medium. The price was $17.99 or something like that but rang up as clearance price $5.88! I'm sure they'll hold me over fine until I get new ones. They are much lower than the ARMS but still higher than they should be. But at least I can shoot it for now.

  20. I think Saturday will be better (colder) but I'm hunting that morning too. Hopefully I get to post up my first deer tomorrow. Been a slow season for me so far even though I've hunted every day I had available. But every minute was enjoyed to the fullest!

  23. Ok I have had three Fords that all have done this. So don't say BS unless you have driven all diesel trucks. I have had other friends of mine have same issue so glad yours doesn't. We don't have emissions here where I live and dealers take them all the time to resale here. I'm sorry your stuck with all the power sucking equipment on your truck.

  31. Get another opinion. Had one few years back that first fellow said pump had to come out. Second fellow said DONE about 5 minutes after looking at it and replacing a relay (darn thing was a 125$ relay but still better than pulling pump). Also can you relocate tank inside house? If you can, throw piece of fiberglass insulation over well head and be done with it. Cheaper than burning light bulb year after year. And yes most years light bulb will be all you need.

  35. I just came across this comedian. I had never heard of him, before but in this bit it is like he is reading my mind. This is exactly how I feel about the trend of so many people thinking that a person can't excercise the right to free speech simply because it 'offends' them - or even because it might 'offend' someone else, entirely. The best lines are, "I want to live in a Democracy but I never want to be offended, again!" "Well, you're an idiot."

  36. Here's proof to the Democrats that AK's can be used to shoot deer. This is an older picture of my brother and me in the early 90's when we went deer hunting. We didn't have deer rifles so we used our AK's . I had a MAADI (Egyptian AK) and my brother used a MAK90 (Chinese AK) to hunt with . My brother nailed a buck. It was a clean shot through the heart with his Chinese MAK90. His first deer and my first time gutting and butchering a deer. What an awesome time for us . It was 20 degrees when we were hunting and a few hours later it was 65 degrees. When I was butchering it , it was so warm the fat was foaming. Awesome time for us both . We aren't twins but we are very close. Just an awesome time and great food !

  37. I doubt it. An arrow leaves a pretty large wound when you consider the width of the blades and how much tissue it cuts. A FMJ leaves a little hole and does not do much damage. Thats why they are illegal.
    1 point
  38. I don't know. It could work like an Arrow I guess. I know it's illegal to use them here in TN.

  39. I used my Ruger M77 chambered in 7.62x39 last season to take two bucks. Worked like a charm with 110 gr Sierra's. Both rounds were 'pass throughs'. I wanted to pre-test it before making it a grandson rifle. Now he won't have any excuses but pilot error if he doesn't bag one.

  40. Ya'll will probably get a smile out of this but I own a Phoenix HP22A semi auto and I love it. I liked it so much when my daughter wanted a gun to plink with around their house in the yard I loaned her that and had to buy another cause she didn't want to give it back. So far she had managed to kill 3 opposums that kept getting it the trash and a few chicken snakes because they have chickens and shot at 1 Fox that was trying to get in the hen house and not sure if she hit it or not but it yelped and ran off and has not been back. I know some folks don't like them because of the safety factors of having what some say is to many. I have learned how to work around that. They hold 10 rounds in magazine and one in the tube. They will shoot about any brand ammo with no issues. Last one I bought I gave about $139.00 for and came with 1 extra magazine. Took it to the range when I first got it and was very surprised at how accurate the little gun is. I throw it in my pocket for quick trips to the store or when I walk to the mail box of just walking around the yard. Never use to do that but in last year several folks around my neighborhood have been robbed at knife point while cutting their yards and one guy was robbed while grilling out about a block from my house. If I am going to be robbed by a guy with a knife he will still be here when the police arrive. Bleeding or not will be up to him but he will be here.
