yeah that's what makes this light strange... you can see it is literally as bright out at 300 yards as it is at 50 yards. I guess it's some ancient chinese voodoo or something powering the light.2 points

Here's a pic, the trees in this are about 50 yards from where I am standing. The barn is at least 300 yards away, on the opposite side of my neighbor's cow field. It would go much further, I just don't want to walk across the road to the field and get a longer shot to something else.2 points

Civil disobedience is a real broad term. I'm not foolish. Becoming as useless as some Hillary supporters is civil disobedience in my book.2 points

There were 6 or 8 folks in Chat yesterday mid-morning. I was surprised to see that on a Sunday. As soon as things settle down with the server and I can stop spending my time working on problems like that, I think I am going to set up some scheduled chats every so often when I and a maybe some of the moderators will be online for Q&A and random hijinks.2 points

Nothing loads simple pistol ammo faster than the SDB! At least nothing without spending four times as much money. I leave mine set up for 9mm. Changing calibers is not hard. But caliber choices are limited because the SDB does not use standard died. I found the powder measure to be pretty accurate. I check the throw weight once every 50rds, and it doesn't change.2 points

Sometimes, spare parts come in a neatly packaged item called "another carbine". Now IS the "good old days" of cheap and plentiful AR paraphernalia.2 points

UPDATE 10/15/2016 @ 9:00AM Central Hey folks. It's been a very long 24 hours. If you missed TGO, the feeling is mutual. We missed you too. Or I did. Actually I really just missed having a server that was functional. And as much as I'd like to not have to go through the past 24 hours again, sooner or later we're going to have to. So here's what's up: Our current web server is not performing up to par. It's slow and during times of peak traffic for us, it is downright unusable. If you have tried to use the forum any in the 8pm - 9pm Central time-frame over the past few weeks, you know what I am talking about. It hasn't been fun for any of us and has consumed 100% of my time which means my family has had to suffer through it as well. Yesterday I embarked on the task of figuring out what was wrong with the server. It's new and it should be performing better. What I found was a myriad of problems that soon made it obvious that the best way to fix it was to take backups of our files and our database, and then burn the server to the ground and start over. Scorched earth! That did not go entirely to plan. Our hosting company had difficulties delivering on a rebuild so, at around 11:00PM last night, I decided to just have them restore the whole server from a backup made several days ago. That process lasted until around 6:00AM today. Since then, I have been restoring our database and files to bring us current with the way the forum was right before I attempted anything yesterday. It appears that this was successful in getting us back online... but it doesn't fix the problem of slowness with the server. *deep breath* So what's next? We are going to have to move the site again sometime soon. I am looking at all options. One of them is just to move to a new server with the current hosting company. Another option is to leave this hosting company for someone else. Until then we will limp along. Please do me a favor and loan me your patience. I need it.2 points

Here's proof to the Democrats that AK's can be used to shoot deer. This is an older picture of my brother and me in the early 90's when we went deer hunting. We didn't have deer rifles so we used our AK's . I had a MAADI (Egyptian AK) and my brother used a MAK90 (Chinese AK) to hunt with . My brother nailed a buck. It was a clean shot through the heart with his Chinese MAK90. His first deer and my first time gutting and butchering a deer. What an awesome time for us . It was 20 degrees when we were hunting and a few hours later it was 65 degrees. When I was butchering it , it was so warm the fat was foaming. Awesome time for us both . We aren't twins but we are very close. Just an awesome time and great food !1 point

I've been working with Outlaw State on Super heavy subs. He has the 280s cycling in a 1 in 7 ar 10 without any changes to the gun. I'm running a 1 in 5 bolt gun so we can push the limits.1 point

I had two pairs that look similar to those. One pair was giraffe none. The other from water buffalo. Look on eBay and look at 1911 bone grips. You'll see what I'm talking about.1 point

Very nice! But the democrats won't believe it. It won't matter after Hillary appoints her scotus picks anyway. You cannot get to the land of make believe with facts, it has to be thoughts.1 point

Yes, the charging handle goes really fast. I hope you signed up for the notification when it's restocked. I did. But I couldn't wait for it. lol I was checking the site every time I got near my PC. I bought a brace kit for mine initially, but soon decided I wanted the folding stock kit so I could go the SBR route. (If you would like the arm brace kit, let me know. I'll put you in it below current costs.) So I have everything ready for it to be complete. Just have to do the form 1 and send the blackmail payment in so I can assemble it. I've not been a sling sort of guy, but as I'm thinking of this as a poor man's pdw, as well as home defense and range use, I'll probably do a single point sling on it at some point.1 point

I have been here the whole time. HRC will most likely be elected. That will begin my long period of civil disobedience. I will no longer take the US government seriously, or look to it for any improvement... ever.1 point

I used to be a dealer back in the 80's 90's and sold a number of these Iver Johnson TP22's They are about the best 22 pocket gun I can think of since they have an outstanding firing pin block for chamber carry. As reliable as it gets. A wheel gun I really like is an old Taurus 22 I bore out to mag. Its a scaled down 5 screw J frame Smith in most ways.1 point

Did not have the first version. Held one about a month ago and the grip safety was 'iffy' at that time. However, my father-in-law got one and hence another chance to play with it. First off it was a bitch to reassemble. Maybe with a little practice I will learn how to hold my mouth just right and it will go easier. However.... to the range. A couple of times it failed to chamber a round after sticking the mag in. Once chambered, ran reliably and smoothly with a mix of bullet types/reloads and factory rounds. Locked back on empty mag, and shot very well at reasonable SD range with accuracy. No problems with grip safety activation this time. I don't like it as well as my Shield. Little big for a pocket gun. May be all right as a carry gun with decent holster. Certainly smooth lines and dehorned. I have read where after fired extensively it seems very dependable. I am not in a hurry to go buy one, but I do know where I can get one to play with occasionally. After a few hundred rounds will report back.1 point

I have one of the original Marlin .410 lever actions made around 1929. Was a gift when I was 13 (long time ago) and I hunted with it a few years before moving to a 20g. Through a family misunderstanding it was sold. I knew who bought it and he still lived in the same town as my Mother so a few years ago I had her contact him, he is in his 80s and had sold it along time ago but kept very good records and knew who he sold it to. He called the guy and he had died, but his wife was selling his collection and still had the gun. So after more than 40 years I got it back. It is a fun gun to shoot and will not leave the family again. It was based on the 1893 receiver. They gave it away for a couple of years with the purchase of 4 preferred shares at $25/ea. They stopped production with the intro of longer shells, it takes 2.5” shells, in 1932. They made around 6500 of them.1 point

I read a lot about different trigger pulls on many of these smaller semi's and I have often wondered something. We all carry a firearm for protection of ourselves and family or others. The way I look at this is "IF" and I mean "IF" anyone one here ever hand to actually use the gun mentioned here or the LCP 380's or S&W Bodyguards or any guns of this design and we actually did have to fire the weapon at what level would your adrenalin be pumping and do you actually feeling you would not pull the trigger so fast that the long trigger pull would have any effect on you discharging the weapon. I carry a select number of Bersa Semi autos which are designed to fire in a single action / double action operation. If the Bersa hammer is cocked and locked when safety is released it is automatic. If the hammer is unloaded and I have to do a long trigger pull for first round and I knew I was going to be forced to fire my weapon I honestly believe my first round would leave the gun in a split second even on a long trigger pull but that is just my humble opinion. Would like to hear other thoughts on this.1 point

Funny thing, I read a review about it on Amazon where someone else was upset the soft ring around the on/off switch didn't last long. There was a piece of paper in the bottom of the box that said please remove the protective foam from around switch before use. LMAO.1 point

Headed to Chi-town Saturday afternoon to catch game 2 of the NLCS on Sunday. Hopefully they schedule it as the late game so I can see the Bad News Bears game beforehand. I know we have some upstate Illinois guys on here. Any die hard Cubs fans? GO CUBS!1 point

I have been a Cubs fan for over thirty-five years now. When cable TV first came to this area, WGN would broadcast Cubs games and I watched as many as I could. Some of my favorite memories growing up were watching The Hawk and Ryan Sandberg, and listening to Harry Caray announce the games with Steve Stone. Hopefully this is the year that the Cubs bring the trophy back to Wrigley.1 point

I use to be a football freak and my wife was worse than I was. We seldom ever missed a Ttans game or Vols game. Wife had house decorated in football stuff everywhere. When I lost here to a heartattack I lost my love of football also. I will only watch a game now if there is absolutely nothing else on TV worth watching. I tried to get back into it about a year after she passed and it was just not the same. I was glad I got to make one of her biggest dreams come true just before losing her. She had always said that before she died she wanted to actually go to a Vols game. I knew a buddy of mine that had season tickets every year and great seats and he also owns a Charlet in Gatlinberg. He let me use the Charlet for a weekend and his season passes. I told my wife that wednesday before the game that we were going to Gatlinburg for the weekend as she loved it up there. She got all excited and of course packed all her Tennessee Vols outfits to wear in Gatlinburg. We arrived in the Charlet on Frday night. Great view and hot tub on the deck. Spent the evening relaxing in the tub. I woke erly so I could sevrve her breakfast in Bed. On her breakfast tray under her napkins were the two passes. I was down stairs when I heard the screams and she came running down the stairs and wrapped her self around me. It was the opening game of 1997 season and the first season after they had enlarged the Stadium. I can't even remember who Tennesse was playing that night but they killed the opposing team. I cannot believe all the stuff she bought at the stadium but I know my credit card took a heck of a hit and it about filled the trunk of the car. Now with that said I lost her suddenly to a heart attack in October 1997 just about a month after the Tennessee Game and I would give all I own to have her back but to this day I will never forget that one dream i made come true for her. Like I said I have tried to get back into the game but does not work. Her daughter and my Son In law are about like she was about the Vols so I gave her all the stuff her mother had decorating the house and now their house is decorated all up. They have invited me to come and watch some games with them. I did manage a few back years ago. They don't ask anymore mostly because they know I won't come but I know I am always welcome should I decide to go..............Sorry for the long post but have been needing to talk about this for sometime and this thread seemed like a place I could do it.....................1 point

My wife and I have stopped watching NFL ball games. Between the Titans just sucking as bad as they ever have, and the petulant behavior of the players protesting the country that enables them to live in luxury, we've just given up on it entirely. We've started watching collegiate football more and find ourselves slowly becoming Vols fans. Never thought I'd say that.1 point

Popularity, and a saturated market. Agreed, you probably won't see better prices. Personally, I think the horse is out of the barn. An AR ban at the national level will have to wait until a lot more sane people die off. The bans will continue some in the Commie states because they are incapable of comprehending any kind of crime data, and FEEEEELINGS... my whiney ass has FEEEEELINGS. Y'all know the tune1 point

Prices are pretty low right now; I don’t see them getting any lower than $600-700 for the entry level rifles. Just like gas; prices can jump overnight. I don’t expect a big jump because folks have figured out the President can’t ban guns. Sure it’s possible but with the recent SCOTUS rulings, unlikely. State laws will be the biggest deciding factors. I don’t think we have much to worry about in Tennessee. Now having said that, I wanted a new AR-10 so I got it a few weeks ago because the gun industry hosed us the last time; not the government. That could happen again.1 point

No love, not because they screwed up the first one but because the second one isn't much if any better. They would still have a crappy gun, but I think they would have taken a lot less flack for it if it was just a modern pistol not a remake of a classic. That is what bothers me the most about it. It would be like colt taking the m1908 hammerless and making it a polymer frame 9mm. Even if it was flawless, it's still wrong. They took the 1st version debuted it before it was ready. They recalled them and refunded money, not bad. But the second version is almost the same thing, quality isn't where it should be. As far as the 870 and 700, a 2016 production vs a 1970s production is almost as different as a pre-64 vs post-64 Winchester model 70 or 94 or a Winchester 1912 vs 1300. Remington's quality simply isn't where it used to be, and I blame that on them being owned by a large corporation conglomerate with bean counters.1 point

Getting an HCP is one thing. It's a start, but also an end for a lot of people. Carrying everyday, everywhere you can, and caring about gun rights like we do is another matter entirely.1 point
