UPDATE 10/15/2016 @ 9:00AM Central Hey folks. It's been a very long 24 hours. If you missed TGO, the feeling is mutual. We missed you too. Or I did. Actually I really just missed having a server that was functional. And as much as I'd like to not have to go through the past 24 hours again, sooner or later we're going to have to. So here's what's up: Our current web server is not performing up to par. It's slow and during times of peak traffic for us, it is downright unusable. If you have tried to use the forum any in the 8pm - 9pm Central time-frame over the past few weeks, you know what I am talking about. It hasn't been fun for any of us and has consumed 100% of my time which means my family has had to suffer through it as well. Yesterday I embarked on the task of figuring out what was wrong with the server. It's new and it should be performing better. What I found was a myriad of problems that soon made it obvious that the best way to fix it was to take backups of our files and our database, and then burn the server to the ground and start over. Scorched earth! That did not go entirely to plan. Our hosting company had difficulties delivering on a rebuild so, at around 11:00PM last night, I decided to just have them restore the whole server from a backup made several days ago. That process lasted until around 6:00AM today. Since then, I have been restoring our database and files to bring us current with the way the forum was right before I attempted anything yesterday. It appears that this was successful in getting us back online... but it doesn't fix the problem of slowness with the server. *deep breath* So what's next? We are going to have to move the site again sometime soon. I am looking at all options. One of them is just to move to a new server with the current hosting company. Another option is to leave this hosting company for someone else. Until then we will limp along. Please do me a favor and loan me your patience. I need it.14 points

My parents came in to visit today & surprised me with a gift with immense personal meaning to me. Today my mother gave me my grandfather's Remington 550-1, which he bought brand new in 1956 when she was only 4 yrs old. It's in new condition & he even kept the original hang tag from 1956. As you can see he took extreme care of everything he owned. That's how he lived every day of his life & I had a lot of respect for him. My grandfather was a veteran of WWII & served on the U.S.S. Mellette (APA-156) at Iwo Jima & Okinawa where he drove a landing craft. After the war he drove a truck for nearly 40 years before retiring & was an active member of our local American Legion, VFW, & the Shriner's until his death. He was married to my grandmother for 64 years, who is still active at the age of 95. Sorry to ramble, but he was a good man & it would take a book to describe him & his life. Sadly, he passed away Feb. of 2014 at the age of 89. This was an unexpected gift that will be cherished & eventually passed down to my children.2 points

Ya'll will probably get a smile out of this but I own a Phoenix HP22A semi auto and I love it. I liked it so much when my daughter wanted a gun to plink with around their house in the yard I loaned her that and had to buy another cause she didn't want to give it back. So far she had managed to kill 3 opposums that kept getting it the trash and a few chicken snakes because they have chickens and shot at 1 Fox that was trying to get in the hen house and not sure if she hit it or not but it yelped and ran off and has not been back. I know some folks don't like them because of the safety factors of having what some say is to many. I have learned how to work around that. They hold 10 rounds in magazine and one in the tube. They will shoot about any brand ammo with no issues. Last one I bought I gave about $139.00 for and came with 1 extra magazine. Took it to the range when I first got it and was very surprised at how accurate the little gun is. I throw it in my pocket for quick trips to the store or when I walk to the mail box of just walking around the yard. Never use to do that but in last year several folks around my neighborhood have been robbed at knife point while cutting their yards and one guy was robbed while grilling out about a block from my house. If I am going to be robbed by a guy with a knife he will still be here when the police arrive. Bleeding or not will be up to him but he will be here.2 points

Having shot and owned a fair pile of small .22 handguns I think for pocket carry the S&W 317 2" or a 43C would be at the top of the list. I don't feel too bad about the several Jennings J22s I have had. Every time I get one and get it running someone beats me down to sell it to them. I've owned a couple of the Beretta 21s and a Minx in .22short but I am not a big fan of them. I've owned both the steel and poly Taurus copy of the Beretta 21 and you couldn't give me the steel one, but the poly ones are great in my opinion. I like bersaguy's recommendation of the Phoenix HP22. I've had a couple and they worked fine. If it had to be a revolver and I had the money I would hunt down the two airweight S&W J frames over the Ruger LCR. Nothing wrong with the LCR but I think the S&Ws are slicker for pocket carry and are just plain slicker.1 point

I read a lot about different trigger pulls on many of these smaller semi's and I have often wondered something. We all carry a firearm for protection of ourselves and family or others. The way I look at this is "IF" and I mean "IF" anyone one here ever hand to actually use the gun mentioned here or the LCP 380's or S&W Bodyguards or any guns of this design and we actually did have to fire the weapon at what level would your adrenalin be pumping and do you actually feeling you would not pull the trigger so fast that the long trigger pull would have any effect on you discharging the weapon. I carry a select number of Bersa Semi autos which are designed to fire in a single action / double action operation. If the Bersa hammer is cocked and locked when safety is released it is automatic. If the hammer is unloaded and I have to do a long trigger pull for first round and I knew I was going to be forced to fire my weapon I honestly believe my first round would leave the gun in a split second even on a long trigger pull but that is just my humble opinion. Would like to hear other thoughts on this.1 point

My grandfather had a 4" 34, but I didn't care for it. In fact, neither did he. I sold it for him a couple of years ago. I would love a 3", 9 shot 317 though, go figure.1 point

You won't do any better than an old S&W Model 34. Classic gun, extremely accurate and adjustable sights. It'll cost you, but its worth every cent.1 point

Another vote for the *Beretta 21A...and the SR22....and the S&W Compact. I haven't had a revolver in .22, too much fun wasting ammo in an auto. *Easy to drop a 22 short in the barrel and pop the moles in the yard.1 point

I've been pleased with the Ruger SR22 and like the Beretta 21a as well but have to say the Walther TPH 22 is the classiest .22LR pistol I've ever encountered.1 point

Back in the day Ruger made a .22 SP101 with a normal length (2" or whatever) barrel and normal sights. That would be cool to have.1 point

Ammo... lots and lots of ammo. More on the way. Finally got to a comfortable supply on reloading supplies so I've been pounding away on back up ammo. I was at a conference at Gaylord this weekend. I had a break for a couple of hours so I wandered in to Bass Pro to see if they had a G40 crying my name. They did not. Was also thinking hard about a single stack 9 pocket gun. None of those either so I just left...1 point

Report it to eBay, I am sure it is a seller that is doing it. Unfortunately that may mean you don't get this particular RV, but as you said, there are many out there and personally I would rather deal with someone who is honest about the sale. I just bought a 17' hybrid, and purchased it even though it had a few minor items wrong with it, but the buyer didn't seem to know about most of them. He did point out a few, and those are now fixed, but I still feel I got a good deal. When I sell something, I'll research it to make sure I am pricing it so nobody gets a raw deal, me or the buyer. I will tell the buyer all I know about my item up to and including anything wrong with it, price to fix it or a work around for it.1 point

It's a new striker fired design. The current LCP is double action hammer fired. The larger size seems counter productive to me, especially with the LC380.1 point

The really worrisome thing is that when places like Nashville, Memphis, etc. start really whining then they can screw up things for the entirety of the state. I suspect that is especially true of Nashville where many of the legislators probably live and certainly where the legislative bodies meet. Just as many people say that New York City screws up the entire state of New York, cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco screw up all of California and increasingly liberal, large cities in other traditionally pro-gun states have started screwing up the entirety of those states I would hate to see one or two cities in Tennessee screw things up for all of us.1 point

I don't know why you would spend the money on a handgun carry permit to not carry a handgun in public. It's not like you need a permit to keep a handgun at your home, business, or car.1 point

Getting an HCP is one thing. It's a start, but also an end for a lot of people. Carrying everyday, everywhere you can, and caring about gun rights like we do is another matter entirely.1 point

The easiest way to divert attention from printing is to have your zipper down. Trust me, you can OC, and they will not see the gun. That one... anyway.1 point
