My parents came in to visit today & surprised me with a gift with immense personal meaning to me. Today my mother gave me my grandfather's Remington 550-1, which he bought brand new in 1956 when she was only 4 yrs old. It's in new condition & he even kept the original hang tag from 1956. As you can see he took extreme care of everything he owned. That's how he lived every day of his life & I had a lot of respect for him. My grandfather was a veteran of WWII & served on the U.S.S. Mellette (APA-156) at Iwo Jima & Okinawa where he drove a landing craft. After the war he drove a truck for nearly 40 years before retiring & was an active member of our local American Legion, VFW, & the Shriner's until his death. He was married to my grandmother for 64 years, who is still active at the age of 95. Sorry to ramble, but he was a good man & it would take a book to describe him & his life. Sadly, he passed away Feb. of 2014 at the age of 89. This was an unexpected gift that will be cherished & eventually passed down to my children.5 points

Realized I hadn't posted any pictures recently of my leather work projects. These are a couple "prototypes" that I'm working on. First up is a "convertible/multi-use" holster, or so the line of thought went. Every portion is removable and can be left out or a different one can be put on. -Pocket sleeve -Tuckable IWB with spring clips, however it's also punched for soft loops -Completely ambidextrous -Appendix carry if that's your thing -Magazine can be relocated to weak side if desired. I've been wearing the design around for a couple days now and it's really not as bad as I thought it might be off the bat. Thoughts welcome. Second up is a canted double magazine pouch. Friend of mine asked if I had ever done one like that and if so, what it was like. I hadn't so I made this one. It's really a lot nicer I think the way the magazines are angled versus straight up. The pattern needed some work so I've made a new one at this point but haven't put it to leather yet. I also made a second single pouch pattern. Trying to get both done tomorrow night or this weekend. For anyone who does Instagram my handle there is the same as here and there are a lot more pictures on there.4 points

So here is my opinion on this flashlight. Overall Quality - Not to bad. Is it a tank, no but I think it will stand up to better than average use. Brightness - Absolutely incredible. I am amazed. I just spotlighted everyone in my neighborhood and was able to see @DaveTN with no pants in Murfreesboro (my eyes, my eyes). Seriously the brightness is extremely good. USB plug in lamp - When I saw it I thought how cute and wasn't impressed. But actually it is a nice feature if the power were to go out. Yes I turned all the lights out. It lights up a room enough to get around, etc. Longevity - Who knows but for $30 bucks I think it is a great deal. I just placed an order for 3 more. 1 more for myself and 2 for Christmas gifts.3 points

It is time to add another 10mm to the stable. I was pretty sure I wanted a g40 but lately the g 20 has been also calling my name. So before any of you say it, DUH... I know the answer is to get both. But, that is just not in the cards right now. The 20 would be a bit easier to carry and having a g29 as a bug makes me giggle just a bit. But, the extra barrel length helps the 40 be all it can be. What say ye. Don't tell she who must not be mentioned as she will tell me a real man would get both and then ask for my man card Thanks, Mark2 points

Beretta Model 21A .22lr - I had one of these for years and found it to be a fun little plinker. Single or double action, and the tip up barrel makes these easy to change from one in the chamber to empty chamber with out racking the slide. I'm going to get another one of these someday as the one I had I gifted to a nephew when he graduated from college.2 points

Report it to ebay and find another RV. Dealing with clearly unscrupulous people will always come back to haunt you.2 points

Got mine today. Was looking at it when I turned it on and damn. Was seeing a yellow spot for 25 minutes. Dad saw it and made me order him one. It is a bright light.1 point

I really like my sp101 in .22lr it would be a bit heavy and large for a pocket gun though. might be that a good smith could chop the barrel down to the length of the ejection rod shroud and reattach the front sight, but you'd have to buy the ruger at a real steal to make that make more sense than the lcr option, unless the D/A trigger on the later was an absolute deal breaker.1 point

I'm a big fan of the Bersa Thunder 22. Not exactly a drop in the pocket and forget about it gun but it's great fun. It's my po' man's James Bond gun. A bit finicky on ammo but eats Remington Golden Bullets like candy....I mean 100% reliability. Weird.1 point

I love my G20. I carry it when I'm on the farm cutting wood, trails, or whatever. I also carry it when I'm hunting, camping or in the woods. It's just about as big a gun as I'd ever want to carry often as a sidearm. Any bigger, and I'd probably just carry the 44. Anything bigger than the G20 would be in my way most of the time honestly. Although the Glock40 is a very cool gun.1 point

Found my wife a Smith 417 a few years ago. She loves it. She has wrist and tendon issues, and that is about all she can hold and shoot. I got really luck with this one. It was virtually new, bought from a small shop I dealt with nearby. An older gentleman had bought it and attached a Crimson Trace grip on it. He didn't like it for some reason and brought it back to trade or sell. I just happened to be there immediately afterwards and snatched it up. Spent about 20 minutes adjusting the laser and it's been perfect.1 point

Beretta 71. They are about $250, with pinned fake supressor. These are supposedly Mossad guns and recently imported. The fake pinned supressor can be removed to reveal threaded barrel. Mags aren't cheap or plentiful. Gun is really cool, old berettas are quality pieces. Ive had 21a's. They usually work best with hi power 22lr, neat gun, but kind of a novelty. Trigger of of the LCR 22 is heavy to fire rimfire. The SR 22 works well, reasonably accurate and priced, safety goes wrong way for 1911 folks.1 point

I'm very sorry for your loss Joe. Prayers to you and your families. Matthew 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.1 point

My recommendation: As for revolvers, I echo the LCR22. I don't have one, but I think it's a great little pistol. That, or a Smith 317. I think that's the right model anyways... j frame 22.1 point

really enjoy the S&W compact. good shooter, good for new shooters. Reliable, ease of cleaning. May be a little big for the pocket but doable.1 point

I too have been eyeing a LCR in 22 over the last couple of years. I have seen two priced for $350 used; I should have bought one. The trigger is stiff but it has to be. If you don't mind a single action the NAA revolvers are fine little pieces. If money is not a concern you can't beat a S&W 317.1 point

I agree with you an the video. I loved it. I didn't come up with names for each one immediately, and there were a few of the new faces I don't know; but it was pretty good. And once again...proof that a legend walks among us. You have had an impressive career. Maybe not always out front in the limelight, but always adding your talents to the mix. And making all things better.1 point

Musicman, that is a nice looking gun but I've never been much of a single action guy. Also I've been buying full size glock magazines for a while. Mark1 point

The Nashville country music industry doesn't want musicians, they just want a f***ot in a hat to prance around. Then again, they also fired Hank from the Opry and wouldn't sign Johnny Cash to a record deal, so maybe this is just more of the same from them? Real country is still out there, but like others have said you have to look for it. Dale Watson, Hank III, Wayne Hancock, Corb Lund, Jamey Johnson, Sturgill Simpson, etc. Go listen to "Jack's Truck Stop and Cafe" by Dale, or the albums High Top Mountain or Metamodern Sounds by Sturgill. Find Wayne Hancock on youtube doing Thunderstorms and Neon Signs, or Cold Lonesome Wind. Country still exists, but you won't find it on the radio.1 point

Popularity, and a saturated market. Agreed, you probably won't see better prices. Personally, I think the horse is out of the barn. An AR ban at the national level will have to wait until a lot more sane people die off. The bans will continue some in the Commie states because they are incapable of comprehending any kind of crime data, and FEEEEELINGS... my whiney ass has FEEEEELINGS. Y'all know the tune1 point
