MAC's "testing" is a lot better at generating site traffic than generating useful data. Exercises like these just aren't very relevant to what 99.99% of pistols are going to go through. And testing of any sort on just one example of a particular gun is never going to tell you much.3 points

I've still got a couple more tricks up my sleeve but I need to dole them out slowly with some time in between them to gauge what the results are. Thanks for remaining patient with me.1 point

A test like this would have to be repeated many times to get a real set of data points to say one is more or less reliable than another. Then to do a good job it would have to be repeated with several guns. Lots of work to prove something to the point of saying it has scientific value. This is entertainment nothing more...1 point

I still haven't forgiven Rick for some stuff that happened a while back. But I'm getting there. I do miss my XM18 and have been thinking about another. Not ready yet but someone is going to get a good knife!1 point

I wouldn't pay any attention to MAC's test on the M&P. Its a joke. He says right up front that it has aftermarket parts in it and then at the end says they definitely didn't cause the malfunctions because they don't change the mechanism. Put the stock parts back in or grab a new one out of the case and test it. He can't say he can't afford it because he's made enough money off the channel to buy a shop and an 8k dollar 249. He can afford to lose 100 bucks on a M&P. The glock also failed the water test I think, Can't remember for sure but I don't think it went fully into battery with just water. Doesn't matter, these reviews have really been the last straw for me. I was already frustrated that he only played with expensive toys that I can't afford and talked about them like everyone could. These tests just kinda sealed it for me, I unsubscribed. I miss the old days when he just showed off old mil weapons.1 point

Yeah, the camaraderie/fellowship is always a great part of the dove hunt. Just being out in the dove field with good friends are the ingredients for some good memories. Glad you had a good time... and got to break in that new shotgun. Good looking gun.1 point

Great shooting with your carbine! I'm pretty sure you would have beat your little brother.1 point

Yeah, if muzzle sweeping while target scanning is something you need to avoid, behind the dot isn't feasible. Maybe if you could find a quick detach mount it could work, but this being such a speciality item, that's bound to be a challenge. This laser looks like a good fit for your needs while being about as friendly as it gets for this kind of kit. If you don't need an IR light, than it helps keep the cost down as seen here. Comparison shop a bit on the products, but this site gets good reviews from what I see. https://tnvc.com/shop/ldi-otal-class-1-ir-laser/ Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk just to give Oh Shoot something to be grumpy about.1 point

Sounds like you can use something like the PEQ-2 we used (up to 15 or 16 by now), they project an IR laser which is only visible with some kind of night vision. But probably will break your budget unless you find a good deal. Why not a night vision scope? Use the goggles to scan the field, flip up and acquire your target with the scope. Here is a decent priced one and gets decent reviews. https://www.amazon.com/Sightmark-Photon-4-6x42S-Digital-Riflescope/dp/B00NZ98OKG/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1475086440&sr=1-1&keywords=sight+mark+photon+digital+NV1 point

What kind of NVG/IR dot setup are you using? If you can troubleshoot that part to a point of satisfaction, then maybe you can save what is bound to be a hefty purchase.1 point

Hi everyone! Name is Austin. Just moved to West Knoxville from Indianapolis Indiana. Excited to learn more about the ins and outs of gun laws here in TN. I'm always welcome to advice and would love to meet up with someone that knows what they are talking about. Lots to learn! Over the years I have transitioned to carrying .40 in all my pistols, .223 in rifles, and 12ga in shotguns. Makes it easier for me to stock up on ammo. Let me know if I can help! I wasn't involved in the Indiana version of this forum as often as I would like. Looking to change that here in TN.1 point

Sorry no help on IR Laser recommendation but good luck on your Texas trip. I made two trips in one hog hunting in Texas, my first and last. The hunt was successful and eventful. Night hunting is the best no doubt but to really find the hogs you have to go where no human in their right mind would think of going. I think I pick briars and thorns out of my flesh for six months after that trip and not something I'm really up for again anytime soon.1 point

I see your point as far as equating guns with illegal activity, but in this case they were correct in checking in with him on exactly what he was up to. A legal CCW or open carrying individual sitting in a car waving a gun around should probably also be asked what he is up to if he is acting in a suspicious manner. And of course sitting in a car with an illegal substance doesn't help matters, whether the gun is legal or not. I bet if he would of just acted in a rational manner this incident would not of even made the news, let alone cause riots.1 point

Didya ever wonder just why this guy and his wife were sittin here in the first place...? Did they live there...? We're they gonna meet someone..? Wuz there a tupperware party...? Wuz it someones birthday...?... Notice that no one is talkin about this... Why wuz this recently deceased model citizen smokin a joint...? These cops accidently came to serve a warrant on someone else and this dimwit flashed a gun as near as i can tell... How's that for a pleasant greeting from a model citizen in your community...? These people were'nt waitin to go to a church meeting, nor a dear grandmother's birthday party... This is hoodlum-ism in it's full flower... It's very likely that thes poor policemen did society in general and the Charlotte community in particular a service on this one.... I'm tired of hearin about the poor put upon black community... When thugs start reformin, and start doin what they need to do, i'll start carin... non-carin leroy, the dismissive whitey...1 point

No thanks. The last thing I need is an IRS type agency in charge of my healthcare. "Death panels", rationing, long waits, red tape and an even bigger government WOULD be a reality.1 point

Instead of accusing me of just trying to spin people up, why not address the points I tried to make? I'm sorry you find my difference of opinion delusional, kind of makes it difficult to have a reasonable discussion when one side has already appointed themselves unquestionably correct. I apologize if my questioning of authority has threatened your safe space, from now on I will try to use more socially appropriate trigger warnings before I question the common point of view here. When the officers approached him, did they know he was a felon with a gun or had they just observed a gun and what appeared to be a joint? I would go so far as the say the fact he's a felon with a gun shouldn't be a crime, but that's a debate for another time. The officers observed a firearm and what they assumed to be a small amount of marijuana. If they are otherwise on a mission to serve a warrant, why are they bothering with this guy that's just minding his own business? Is their warrant really not that important? Is a single joint such a heinous crime? The officers chose to initiate contact with an individual that was minding his own business. Now that individual is dead. If the officers had stayed focused on their assigned task serving a warrant, things might be different. Instead they decided that one individual with one joint was more important and now he's dead. Possession of a small amount of marijuana and a firearm resulted in death. "Well he should've listened to the cops" Well they should've been busy serving a warrant instead of harassing him. On the one hand, you break the rules and you take your chances. I just want people to look at the bigger picture and question why some of these ridiculous rules exist to start with.1 point

I just wanted to come back to this thread one more time to say thank you to everyone for the prayers, thoughts and kind words. My son was buried today at the National Cemetery with all Military Honors. The military did a wonderful job and his mother and I were/are very thankful and proud and so sad at the same time. It's hard to put into words. His love of motorcycles prompted me to contact the Patriot Guard Riders. They also did a wonderful job at the visitation last night standing by the door for many hours in the heat of the evening. The procession to the National Cemetery was led and accompanied by MANY PGR riders. I couldn't even guess at the number. They did a wonderful job and rode through a strong storm and wind for the last 5 miles to the National Cemetery as if the skies were blue. It was a sight to behold and, again, his mom and I were/are very thankful to them for honoring him in so great a way. Mom and I would like to say FLY HIGH our soldier buddy. We'll see you again one wonderful day.1 point

So he was shot because he had a joint and a handgun at the same time. "No, he was shot because he didn't listen to the police!" He wasn't hurting anyone. Why did the police have to even get involved? To protect and serve? As a member of the public, I don't feel any safer. They killed a guy who enjoyed firearms and the occasional toke. That could've been an awful lot of people I know personally.1 point

While an M&P wouldn't be my 1st-5th choice for a 9mm striker fired pistol, I don't think the MAC testing is enough to make me say someone shouldn't carry one if they're comfortable with it, and put plenty of rounds through it at the range. The videos are quite entertaining to watch, though.1 point

What do you need information on? Get a good belt and don't save a buck on a holster. I carry both iwb and owb a FN FNS9 without worrying about being "made". I'm 5'9" and "fit" for 39 years. There are a million combinations of belts and different holsters. It feels like everyone is staring at you but they aren't. The smart phones have taken everyone's awareness and flushed it.1 point

From that link, "most Tennesseans will pay under $75 a month." Am I missing something? I'd LOVE to know how to get on that plan.... As it stands now I'll dump my insurance at the end of the year.1 point

I think it's extreme either way correct? -40 and 122 according to the documents The lowest temperature ever recorded in TN: -32F The highest temperature ever recorded in TN: 113F I dunno, while I completely agree it's absolute BS that they hid those facts... those are some REALLY extreme temps... average Joe isn't likely to deal with that around here. Hell at those temps, I will likely give out before the optic does....1 point
