Just received a vintage Savage 340 30-30! Here's what makes it special. This is my grandfather's rifle he used to put food on his family and neighbors families tables in the rural Ozark mountains of northern Arkansas. My grandfather died at the age of 28 from what is believed to be an aneurysm, not too long after returning from Korea. My dad was only 5 years old and this rifle was one of the few possessions my grandfather had that my father was able to keep through the years, house fires, and normal life issues. My grandfather purchased the rifle through the only general store in the little town they lived in, probably from a Belknap catalog. I do have the catalog as well! Probably purchased sometime in late 1950 or early 1951. Which is pretty cool as well since the 340 came out in 1950. Also have the original box of ammo that my grandfather had at the time of his death with 4 shells left in the box! Gun isn't a high value gun but it's priceless to me. To hold in my hands the tool the man I never got to meet, used to feed his family. The gun my father used to kill his prized mounted 10 pointer the day I was born ... It doesn't get any better than that.10 points

I wonder how many liberal heads are spinning knowing that "colonial" and "plantation" pipelines are serving their fossil fuel needs.7 points

Have we really made it this far in the thread and no one blamed it on Obama? That sly bastard has all of you fooled Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

Markets are a wonderful thing when allowed to work naturally instead of being manipulated by artificial means.4 points

Yeah. You said it better than I did. I'd prefer it to be available at $5 per gallon than unavailable at $1. Yesterday, I saw a guy pulling a trailer with a lawnmower, pressure sprayer, and every gas can he could find at the pump filling it all with gas. He was convinced there'd be no more gas for the foreseeable future. This is the problem. Not a broken pipeline.4 points

As I watch people kinda freak out over a potential gas interruption I just SMH at what would happen in a real emergency.4 points

I'd prefer gas prices rise to the level that would ensure availability rather than remain the same and not be available anywhere. Your mileage may vary.3 points

I contacted the Friends of Sycamore Shoals this morning and here's the answer they provided about time-to-production: We REALLY appreciate your support and that of the people who follow your TNGunOwners site! As to the process once we hit 1,000 pre-orders, our information is that 4 to 6 months would be the period for final approval, visibility testing, production, etc., before distribution. We've got everything ready to go on our end, so as soon as we reach 1,000 we'll turn it in. We're hoping for 4 (or less) rather than 6. If you renew your registration sticker in November, for example, whatever time is left when you get your Gadsden tag will carry over. Nobody will lose what they've already paid for. Feel free to share that with others. We think that we'll hit the 1,000 mark by some point in October. We're averaging about 25 pre-orders per week, and at this moment, we have only 81 left to go! Thanks!!!3 points

This is how I buy of sell guns. Ask for or show my HCP or TN DL. Exchange cash for gun and walk away. If they do not have a HCP I ask if they are a prohibited person. If it is a complete stranger and not from TGO I do a few more things. I write their number on my hand, I also write their plate number on my hand and I generally audio record the transaction. No way I would ever give someone all that information. You are right, there are bad people out there but with their copy of the BoS they can do even more damage. I cannot think of a valid reason for that information. LE will already have all of that by the time they come knocking on your door. I would think becoming a victim of identity theft is a more realistic threat than getting in trouble because some jackwagon decides to break the law using a gun you sold to them.3 points

His sign is no more offensive than the free speech that allows the (some) Black Lives Matter movement to chant "Pig in a Blanket, Fry 'em like bacon". That free speech is accepted by Liberals because they don't want to offend the "down trodden". His sign is thought provoking, because it is a play on the (s)BLM movement, and it drives home a gun control issue. He tied the first and second amendment together in one nice soundbite.2 points

That's the problem today....we have more panty waists then men anymore. It used to take a lot to offend most people but now it seems to be a national pastime.2 points

It was real good. Kinda like roast beef. It was a little dry , but I figured it would be . I sliced some up for supper and poured some white gravy over it with some roasted potatoes. It was a great supper .2 points

They can step outside the Police role on this. Do they think a person should go to trial to determine if they were justified in shooting someone that was pointing a BB gun at them in a robbery or burglary? I don’t and I absolutely believe shooting anyone that is trying to make you believe they are pointing a gun at you justifies the use of deadly force. Whether it is a Police Officer, HCP holder or citizen. And whether it is a real gun, empty gun, BB gun, or anything else being threatened as a deadly weapon.2 points

Well, it's by the county for testing and the problems with deleting are, in no real particular order... Warranty EPA can (and apparently will) fine you if they catch you Dealerships won't take one on trade if it's been deleted (see previous)2 points

Was I the only one, who looked at the picture of the pond of gas that had pooled up, and think what would happen if someone sent a flaming arrow into the middle of it?1 point

All this panic did was move the date some people fill up from Monday to Friday/Saturday. I'd bet that a lot of unnecessary trips will be cancelled this weekend out of fear there won't be enough gas to get to/from work next week. All in all, there will likely be LESS gas used in the next few days...meaning, when everything goes back to normal I suspect a lot of the panic buyers' tanks will still be full.1 point

So far I haven't seen any lines, but I have seen pumps with bags over the handles here in Clarksville. But since all pumps, with same grade, share the same tank I think it's just a ploy to make it seem they are running out. My wife and I both filled up at separate times and separate places just fine yesterday, me at night.1 point

FFL’s are bound by Federal law primarily and state law. A private gun sale is primarily controlled by state law. The difference in state laws, and handguns aren’t generally used for hunting would be my guess as why they did it on Federal law. But that’s just a WAG, you would have to ask them. Nothing keeps an 18 year old from having a handgun (unless its state law); it’s just the FFL’s can’t transfer it to them. As someone who joined the military at 17 during the Vietnam War; you won’t get any argument from me on how crazy it is; but it’s the law. You can sell an 18 year old resident of this state a gun; it’s legal. I choose not to. One reason is I have a C&R. And while I fully understand it’s not a license to sell, I just don’t want the possibility of any issues”. The other reason is I don’t want to risk parents coming back on me for selling junior a gun. But that’s just my personal opinion, and it may be different if I personally knew the person and knew it was okay.1 point

Problem is that BP will be shutting down a refinery for 10 days (no info on why, likely maintenance). That, combined with the pipeline repairs, jacked up prices. Although I think if people weren't panicking like that, price increases would have been lower. In other news, crude oil prices are falling. Not that any of us would benefit from that...1 point

I love SMKW, but not sure I've ever bought more than a cheap assisted opening knife my mom wanted for her glove box there. For the amount she uses it, it's perfect, could have spent more on a kershaw and had a better knife, but it wouldn't have a blue dragon on the handle and that seemed more important to her. I like to go and look, the knife museum is great and the 'country bear jamboree' type deal they have reminds me of being a kid and being fascinated by animatronic singing animals. I like the vibe and the feel of the place with the waterfall, mounted animas and all. places like this just don't get built anymore so I try to enjoy them before they all go out of business and get replaced by walmarts.1 point
