  1. A U.S. Marine Colonel was about to start the morning briefing to his staff. While waiting for the coffee machine to finish brewing, the colonel decided to pose a question to all assembled. He explained that his wife had been a bit frisky the night before and he failed to get his usual amount of sound sleep. He posed the question of just how much of sex was "work" and how much of it was "pleasure?" A Major chimed in with 75%-25% in favor of work. A Captain said it was 50%-50%. A Lieutenant responded with 25%-75% in favor of pleasure, depending upon his state of inebriation at the time. There being no consensus, the colonel turned to the Private First Class who was in charge of making the coffee and asked for his opinion? Without any hesitation, the young Private First Class responded, "Sir, it has to be 100% pleasure. The colonel was surprised and as you might guess, asked why? "Well, sir, if there was any work involved, the officers would have me doing it for them." The room fell silent. God Bless the enlisted man.

  2. Yesterday I became an NRA life member! I shot my .223 Wylde AR that I built for the first time! And I picked up a Daniel Defense DDMV4 that I won. Despite this being my first AR build (and my first AR ever owned), the gun ran like a champ. I only put 30 rounds through it because I was on my lunch break, but I'm very pleased! I didn't shoot the DD yet. I'll play with it this weekend, but I don't think it's going to be as nice of a shooter as my build, but it sure is pretty to look at in Tornado Grey.

  6. Shameless plug... one of the nice things that I intentionally designed into the TGO decals is the fact that at a casual glance, they don't look like a gun-related decal. There are so many Tennessee tri-star decals out there that people just see it as one of those unless they are really paying attention.

  9. --- most of first paragraph redacted. I realized after reading the responses while NOT doing a dozen other things that I believe I missed the sarcasm font on a couple responses. My apologies!--- Disagree with their choice in musical direction versus your personal taste, cool. I don't really like the Beatles very much. There. I said it, haha! More than the fact that I am a big fan of all their music (seriously... all of their music. Even St Anger has grown on me through the years!) I am SO over this election and these absolute turdsacks of candidates we have left at the bottom of the trash pile. Johnson too. And that's hard for me to say. I truly believe one has to be mentally ill to enthusiastically support any current candidate. Please note I said ENTHUSIASTICALLY SUPPORT. I understand the "well, this one's less spawn-of-satan-pure-evil than the other" argument. I don't begrudge anyone for feeling that way. I'm feeling just about hopeless with politics right now. This shirt feels like all I can do. Even more than how much I love Metallica, I dislike what's going on and this is my statement of dissent, er whatever.

  15. Me too! I gave the dealership thousands for the car... not to be their driving advertisement. I make that part of the deal when I buy a car. If there is any dealer sticker/emblem on the vehicle, it must be removed before I pay for it.

  16. This has no bearing to the greenies, there is still a shortage of poor polar bears, many of whom have to struggle to find a piece of ice to hunt from. Pay no mind to the ships getting stuck in the ice either. More money, that will help! Oh, and corn in your gas, need more of that too.

  17. I BOS isn’t required by law; but you do have legal requirements. I can only sell to residents of this state and people that are of age; that is required by law and violating that can lead to my arrest. I can’t sell to a person that I know to be a felon; but the law gives me no way to check that other than asking them. If it should later become an issue of whether or not I knew; I have some support. If I don’t know the person I like to have a BOS showing I did what I could reasonably do to meet that requirement. I don’t need to know their address and they don’t need to know mine. So I found a BOS on the net and modified it. It was a short statement saying you are of age, a Tennessee resident, and can legally own a firearm. All the form has is our names and phone numbers with the firearm serial numbers. That’s all that’s needed. I am also concerned with stolen firearms; I hate a thief. If a seller balks at a BOS; I walk. I mean let’s get real here….. If you buy or sale a weapon the other person will at the very least have an email address, should have a telephone number and probably a license plate number. Should an issue arise and the cops get involved; that info will identify you. This is what I use….

  18. I posted over in the new members introduction forum. But I am asking this because i'm leaving Kalifornia for Tennessee. I've been over regulated and immersed in communist bs for so long I don't know how normal Americans in free states buy guns. Basically here I have to have a permit, FSC card they call it. Only handguns appoved by CA DOJ (not even Colt Government 1911's are on the list). Only 1 hangun purchase in 30 days, 10 day wait to pickup. Long guns as many as I want in 30 days, 10 day wait. Of course, no standard capacity magazines, bullet buttons (but not for much longer, mags will have to fixed only) etc... Tell me of the free process that I'll be gladly joining soon? Do you guys cash and carry most guns or is there any kind of wait on background checks?

  19. Here's my latest new toy. It's a Turbo RBLP 22 rimfire benchrest rifle. The barrel is a Shilen Ratchet with a Hoen tuner, stock is a McMillan Edge and scope is the new NF 42x I shot this group Saturday evening playing around with a mid barrel tuner I installed (not pictured) its 10 shots at fifty yards.

  24. You just have to love the bs claim that Chilhowee Park isn't a park. What I would really like to see is this whole thing absolutely bite Knoxville and other cities/counties/municipalities that are trying to pull this crap right on the tender part of their collective ass. Instead of, "We can ban guns at Chilhowee Park because that park isn't a park but instead is a, " public assembly, entertainment and educational venue used for civic events and by contractors for special events like the Tennessee Valley Fair," being allowed to fly wouldn't it be great if the state legislators said, "Okay, y'all want a pissing contest? Well, then, here you go..." and proceed to pass a law removing any and all restrictions from any and all facilities managed, funded, marketed or otherwise overseen by any city or county government or any other local municipality including public assembly, entertainment and educational venues used for civic events and by contractors for special events like the Tennessee Valley Fair (yeah, I think it would be awesome if the state legislature put their exact words in the new law.) In other words, saying, "Okay, if you want to be asshats about it by saying that Chilhowee Park isn't a park and you can ban guns just like at the Civic Coliseum then we'll simply remove your authority to ban at the Civic Coliseum and other, similar locations, as well. There, problem solved."

  26. This is how I buy of sell guns. Ask for or show my HCP or TN DL. Exchange cash for gun and walk away. If they do not have a HCP I ask if they are a prohibited person. If it is a complete stranger and not from TGO I do a few more things. I write their number on my hand, I also write their plate number on my hand and I generally audio record the transaction. No way I would ever give someone all that information. You are right, there are bad people out there but with their copy of the BoS they can do even more damage. I cannot think of a valid reason for that information. LE will already have all of that by the time they come knocking on your door. I would think becoming a victim of identity theft is a more realistic threat than getting in trouble because some jackwagon decides to break the law using a gun you sold to them.

  28. The watch MrsMonkey showed is nice...even if that strap is fugly. Not sure I'd ever buy it, but I can appreciate it from an aesthetic and mechanical standpoint. Speaking of aesthetics and mechanics in a watch, this is what I wear in rotation with its little brother (another Omega from the 90s), and a somewhat "tactical" watch that I need to get serviced.

  34. Nope, what he did was perfectly legal. Motorcycles are not required to wait indefinitely at a malfunctioning traffic light. The next step is to call the local dot office and report it. The sensitivity of some lights can be adjusted. And weight of the vehicle has nothing to do with it. The sensors are magnetic, so an aluminum intensive motorcycle won't activate the sensor regardless of how much it weighs.

  38. Make sure to stop in Texas and wash all of that communist filth off your stuff before entering the state. Then you will be welcomed here more than you expected. In this magical land, you can almost own anything you want. No more bullet buttons to thwart training, no more discrimination on your guns based on their race or color. You can burn #### in your yard if you want, and rest easy because the majority of your neighbors will be heavily armed as well (even if they tell you they're not). Welcome!

  39. Unless I know someone, and I mean actually know them, not internet know them, I'd want a bill of sale with enough information to point an investigator in the right direction. Since I'm aware most people would be wary of a bill of sale that provides this information in a private transaction, I make sure I don't buy a gun unless I'm willing to hold onto it until it becomes someone else's property through the execution of my will.
    1 point
  40. If I see bill of sale I immediately lose interest. I'll gladly show you my valid HCP and I'll also ask for yours, but other then that, all I'll be willing to part with is my cash. I understand CYA and what not, but I also don't think you need my address, phone, license number, blood type or anything else. That's why we meet in the Bass Pro Parking Lot. Heck, once Monkey and I even went in shopping with a member we met, I got 2 machetes. Totally normal.

  41. I have no problem giving a Bill of Sale with my DL Number and address. I feel there is no more risk to me by giving him this info than he is taking from me potentially misusing the gun that is in his name.

Now I hardly ever get a chance, and most of the younger folks see it as just a bunch of nasty animals or rats with long tails. What they don't know is that they are delicious and great for building a social bond with the old man! When will they learn to skin and eat something without going to Walmart for those microwave packaged bits of "almost" chicken?

  46. I have been telling people since Obamacare passed that it seems the ultimate goal is to make everyone hate whatever insurance they have so that the people will beg the government to swoop in and save us all. Every time I have to deal with insurance, it reaffirms my belief.

  47. I own a lot of AR's but only have 2 AK's so far. The Zastava M92 PAP is my go to weapon at home. You just can't beat the size, knockdown power for CQB, and the fact that it has more mag capacity than most pistols (Glocks, etc.). It's also serving as a backup vehicle gun. Biggest reason for that is because it's smaller than an AR15 pistol and if it got stolen, it would be easier to swallow losing a $500 AK versus a $2,000+ Mega pistol with all the high end parts.
