  2. My history with firearms insurance: Originally went with State Farm standard policy. Added what my agent said was the maximum at the same time for a just a few dollars more per year, I recall this was going from $2.5K to $5K or something (20 years ago). A few years back, went to State Farm, wanted more coverage after reading various gun forums, and was able to get additional coverage. Had to provide a listing of gun makes, models, s/n, and approximate value. The problem, the local State Farm front end agent/clerk. The eyes she made, the shock, and the amazement of my list. She even made a verbal comment to me, that is a lot of guns, why would anyone want so many. I did not like this at all. In the past years, after reading more gun forums, and looking over Armscorp Insurance, made a decision to move from State Farm to Armscorp. I found them to be 15% less than State Farm, but the no hassle, no list, no s/n, etc. made it all the better. Everything was through the internet, and even got my policy (PDF) in less than 24 hours after my payment via email. Hope to never file a claim, but I have some level of comfort, and no judgment by the one accepting my money.

  3. I believe the point was to infect people with diseases that have a cure. A last resort temporary measure to get to safety with the cure administered before the disease progresses far enough to endanger the person. At least that was the way I took it. The movie wasn't too bad, but the book was sooooo much better.

  5. I looked at them long enough. I pulled the trigger on one last weekend. I'm going to try and shoot it tomorrow and I'm already looking into after market triggers and springs along with a new charging handle. The 5 30 round mags get here Friday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. I am a gun nut.....especially for old guns. I think I can pull something out of the safe that'll fire every one of those except the two belted magnums. These are fun exercises. Thanks for posting them.

  8. Glad your missus is okay. Stupid people continue to do stupid things and more often than not the innocent folks pay the price. Good luck with your insurance...or maybe just pay your deductible and move on.

  12. One crazy idea I had was that it could turn out that it was none of our heroes, and that Negan would turn the bat on one of his own. Just to prove how unpredictable he was. Show the group some mercy and try to win them over. Of course Rick's group will see right through that and not join. I doubt that will happen, but it could be a way the writers kill off someone and it not be anyone's favorite.

  13. Pistols of the 1960's and 1970's went through a transformational reliability revision in order to consistently work with available hollow point service ammunition. The same thing happened with the ammunition itself in order to make it function better in service pistols. All along the myth of the revolver being the better gun flourished. That changed with the Beretta 92, 3rd gen S&W's and Glock. The wheel gun could and frequently did lock up to the point it couldn't be put back into service in the field. You would have loved going through basic police school and firearms training with a revolver and seeing the examples of what could go wrong. Pocket and ankle carry subject a revolver to a lot more dust and grit then you'd realize unless you do so for several years and pay attention to the revolver (or pistols) condition.

  14. You don't have to take my word for it. The owner of Rangemaster, Tom Givens, with nearly 40 YRS of teaching LEO at all levels including revolver only classes has seen them fail multiple times. That is just one reason the semiauto is the standard handgun now. All are mechanical devices and subject to failure .....big and small, that is why we practice malfunction drills. But with quality weapons and ammo the semiauto is more simplistic and reliable.

  21. As an alternative, I have a large firearm policy through Collectibles Insurance Company. They cover my firearms, all accessories including all my reloading equipment and the safes. All that they require is proof after the fact and they recommended pictures and serial numbers. Which I keep on 2 encrypted thumb drives (1 is backup in my parents safe). The policy autogrows yearly and is actual replacement cost. Might be worth looking into. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

  26. I have known this for sometime now, as has many of you out there I bet. Some is for non-nefarious use (obnoxious though), like the ads on some sites that show you ads on things you've looked at before on amazon or other sites. Soon it will be like in the movie Minority Report where the commercials were tailored to whomever was standing in front of the screen. The problem is, there is practically no easy way to opt-out of this.

  30. I have updated our "code of conduct" (Rules) this afternoon to add one new one. This comes on the heels of a conversation with a former Vendor / Sponsor of TGO who had expressed some concerns to me via email about our advertising program. Specifically, they voiced a concern that I have long suspected existed because of the amount of latitude that we have historically allowed our members when it comes to airing grievances. Folks, it is vitally important for our continued existence that TGO have sponsors who are willing to pay to advertise here. We need their patronage! Further, it is usually very beneficial for our members when we have sponsors because those sponsors generally go out of their way to provide perks to TGO members. When things work smoothly, we have excellent mutually beneficial relationships between TGO, Vendors and Members. However, the speed at which and distance to which verbal attacks on a person (or in this case a Sponsor) can spread on the Internet are staggering. One person with a chip on their shoulder can slander the reputation of a business or individual from the relative anonymity of their keyboard, and do terrible financial damage. It's one thing for that to happen in the wild wide-open of the Internet. No one can really protect against that. But it is another thing entirely for it to happen within the confines of a community like TGO, and made even worse when the Sponsor is helping pay for the service that makes that slander possible. Think about it for a moment. Why would YOU want to pay to make it possible for someone to trash your reputation? Legitimate, reasonable complaints against a vendor should be taken up with them PRIVATELY and them be given the chance to resolve the issue. This has always been my stance, however it was never codified into an official rule or policy on TGO. I have addressed that short-sight in this new rule. Your cooperation, if not your understanding, is appreciated. As always, you can read all of the TGO Rules (all eight of them) at this link: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/guidelines/ Rule #8.) Absolutely NO Vendor / Sponsor Bashing Bashing our Vendors / Sponsors in the open forum will not be tolerated for any reason. If you have a problem with a Vendor or Sponsor of TGO, contact them via a private message (PM) or email them directly. If they do not help you after you contact them via PM, let one of the site administrators know and we will check into the matter. Anyone bashing a Vendor or Sponsor in the open forum will be subject to being banned. The length of the ban will be up to the administrators. We have yet to see a forum sponsor fail to help a member with a complaint if the complaint is legitimate and reasonable. These folks help keep the lights on around here and we will not be party to biting the hand that helps feed us.
