They are busy trying to appease the Bernie voters at the moment and looking for someone to head the DNC all the while trying to make the Hildebeast look like anything other than the lying, crooked, backstabbing liberal that she is.4 points

I went down to my local gun shop today and was just holster shopping. I swear. Ended up with an H&R Pardner for under $200 which I thought was a decent enough deal. So far I really like it, operates like an 870 which is something I'm familiar enough with to be comfortable with right out of the gate. I think the trigger may be a hair heavier, but I don't have an 870 to compare to ATM and it has been to long since I shot one to definitively say. All in all I guess just go out and see whats available and something will jump out at ya.2 points

I have updated our "code of conduct" (Rules) this afternoon to add one new one. This comes on the heels of a conversation with a former Vendor / Sponsor of TGO who had expressed some concerns to me via email about our advertising program. Specifically, they voiced a concern that I have long suspected existed because of the amount of latitude that we have historically allowed our members when it comes to airing grievances. Folks, it is vitally important for our continued existence that TGO have sponsors who are willing to pay to advertise here. We need their patronage! Further, it is usually very beneficial for our members when we have sponsors because those sponsors generally go out of their way to provide perks to TGO members. When things work smoothly, we have excellent mutually beneficial relationships between TGO, Vendors and Members. However, the speed at which and distance to which verbal attacks on a person (or in this case a Sponsor) can spread on the Internet are staggering. One person with a chip on their shoulder can slander the reputation of a business or individual from the relative anonymity of their keyboard, and do terrible financial damage. It's one thing for that to happen in the wild wide-open of the Internet. No one can really protect against that. But it is another thing entirely for it to happen within the confines of a community like TGO, and made even worse when the Sponsor is helping pay for the service that makes that slander possible. Think about it for a moment. Why would YOU want to pay to make it possible for someone to trash your reputation? Legitimate, reasonable complaints against a vendor should be taken up with them PRIVATELY and them be given the chance to resolve the issue. This has always been my stance, however it was never codified into an official rule or policy on TGO. I have addressed that short-sight in this new rule. Your cooperation, if not your understanding, is appreciated. As always, you can read all of the TGO Rules (all eight of them) at this link: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/guidelines/ Rule #8.) Absolutely NO Vendor / Sponsor Bashing Bashing our Vendors / Sponsors in the open forum will not be tolerated for any reason. If you have a problem with a Vendor or Sponsor of TGO, contact them via a private message (PM) or email them directly. If they do not help you after you contact them via PM, let one of the site administrators know and we will check into the matter. Anyone bashing a Vendor or Sponsor in the open forum will be subject to being banned. The length of the ban will be up to the administrators. We have yet to see a forum sponsor fail to help a member with a complaint if the complaint is legitimate and reasonable. These folks help keep the lights on around here and we will not be party to biting the hand that helps feed us.2 points

Hello everyone... I'm a newbie to East Tn and the site here so I thought I'd check in. Of course I did what many of us do when joining a forum... jumped right over to the For Sale section and eyeballed a 308 (my addiction)... so I thought I'd better say hello and then step away from the keyboard.. I look forward to participating around here and hopefully will see a few of you at the range... Griff1 point

After they confiscate the guns, then they will come for your knives and trucks.1 point

It's not about gun control, it's about people control. That is why they push so hard to ban instead of trying to fix the problem.1 point

If anything is going to happen it will be the case head ruptures because there isn't enough pressure/weight holding the bolt in place. I think you will have it covered with the heavy buffer. I have had experiments where the gun seemed to cycle fine. Was tossing the brass out perfectly but none of the bullets made it out of the bore. That was a blowback 30 Tokarev shooting 180 grain bullets. If you need any help let me know.1 point

To ME, my 642 with the aftermarket Pachmayr grips I put on it isn't bad for recoil, at all, even with +P loads and I can shoot it pretty accurately at likely SD distances. With the factory grips it was terrible - it hurt my hand and I couldn't hit worth a hoot. The caveat here, however, is that I like revolvers more than semis, anyhow, and seem to shoot them better. I also don't tend to be bothered as much by recoil as some, other folks (the factory grips on the 642 didn't just cause higher felt recoil but actually caused the backstrap to painfully beat up my hand with each shot no matter how I adjusted my grip or how tightly I held it.) If your mom really wants a carry revolver and recoil is an issue then you might look into something like a Ruger SP101 in .357 and load it with .38 Special self defense loads. The weight and mass of the SP101 really helps to mitigate recoil (I don't have one but have shot one a good bit with both .38 and .357 rounds.) Of course, the trade off is that the weight and mass make it figuratively akin to carrying around a boat anchor but that is pretty much going to be the trade off with any handgun whether revolver or semiauto. When she was ready to 'move up' from shooting .22 pistols I taught my ex-wife to shoot using a snubnosed Rossi .357 (one of the 'newer' ones made by Taurus) that had belonged to her late father. I had her load it with .38 Special rounds. Due to hand strength issues she had trouble finding a semi on which she could rack the slide. At first she had trouble with the trigger but after I got her to adjust her hold and the way her finger was positioned on the trigger she had no trouble with it. Again, however, it is a fairly heavy, bulky gun for what it is. It is also larger than a j-frame. I carried it, some and I had trouble finding holsters that would specifically fit it - in fact, that was the reason I made the first leather holster I ever made. She finally ended up getting a Kel Tec P32 because she found that not only could she easily rack the slide but it also has very mild recoil which didn't bother her hands even though the pistol is very light and small - mild enough that I can do a 'mag dump' shooting one handed with my off (left) hand and stay on a paper target at about 12 yards or so just doing point shooting. Or at least I could the last time I tried it. I can't really control my P3AT shooting that way very well, at all. No, a .32 isn't a 9mm, a .45 or whatever but I would hardly say that someone carrying a .32 is 'unarmed', either.1 point

Geez, could this whole thing possibly be more confusing? Of course mine is probably a bit of an 'uncommon' case because it happened to fall that my DL had to be renewed at pretty much the same time as my HCP so I got the 'new' five year renewal for my HCP (which would have put it in line with my DL under the old DL renewal cycle) and the even newer 8 year renewal on my DL which, of course, took it out of sync with my HCP.1 point

Yep. The two M-21s were modified A-12s. I had the Cobra Night Raven. It was by far my favorite GI Joe toy. Good memories.1 point

I built a kayak trailer from a Harbor Freight trailer kit. The kit was $249 for basically a rolling chassis. It included the frame, wheels springs, lights and coupler. I had to get all the wood and make the racks. Also, that is not the tongue that came with it. That is a piece of 2 1/2" x 12' square tubing I bought because the tongue that came with it was too short. The racks are unistrut. I can fit 2 kayaks and a canoe on it as is. But I believe I could get 4 kayaks if I had 4 sets of cradles. The trailer is 40"w X 48" long. It works fine for our 12' canoe and kayaks. But I would need to add another support up from the tongue if I wanted to haul anything longer. Y'all don't laugh at my grill collection and mattress box. The tongue looks longer than it is. It is only sticking out 8' I took some paddle holders and lashing hooks and made a way to carry the paddles. I drilled holes directly into the unistrut for the barrel bolts to latch. The hinges are from a gate kit.1 point

I found a small Hustler brand boat trailer on CL last year to use under my Nucanoe Frontier 12, makes the trip much easier for this old fart. Just launch and load the Frontier like a boat, just smaller. I plan on removing the bunks on the trailer and making a flat floor on it out of 5/4 decking wide enough for the hull to sit on. Bunks work, but flat surface is just easier. Nice work on the HF trailer.1 point

Agreed, very interesting regardless of whether he actually channeled the devil or not. From a logical standpoint he is just a motivational speaker who wrote a motivational book but from a rather interesting point of view. He could said the interviewee was anyone who could see through space/time. I liked it although I hadn't read a book in a really long time so I might be partial to any book that would be a quick read and took my head away for awhile.1 point

I put my shockwave brace on the last dimple on the buffer tube, and it has the same lop as my ar rifles with collapseable stocks extended all the way. Hope this helps .1 point

Here us something interesting about the whole thing 1. Pokemon has surpassed Tender as the most downloaded app ironically they are both use to catch monsters in your neighborhood 2. The last time Pokemon was a thing and Blink 182 had the number one song on the charts was 1999 feels like deja vu except now I'm old and decrepit and can't walk and move anymore1 point

Remember that people like Hillary Clinton think that the 2nd amendment applies to them but not to the common man. She will gladly carry a gun and/or have people with guns protect her while the average people are denied that same ability.1 point

This is purely a matter of perspective, I'm sure. I never "grew out of" playing or watching sports, but I did outgrow Hot Wheels, GI Joe, Scooby Doo, and my Big Wheel. Now, I ain't saying your average 25 yr old shouldn't be playing with pokemons; I'm just saying *I* don't get it. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. I do reserve the right to punch anyone's arm who rides in my truck if I see a VW Bug before they do, however.1 point

Personally, I prefer these - http://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-1-2-in-x-2-in-Drop-In-Anchor-50-per-Pack-DIA50/205299212 If properly installed, they sit slightly below the floor so there is nothing to trip over or step on. I usually use a little masonry epoxy when I install them, but it isn't necessary. This gives you a little more flexibility. If you wanted to add risers, like mentioned above, you just use a longer bolt.1 point

That is my concern more than any other of this entire election is the Supreme Court. It can destroy our Constitution and alter Americans total way of life begining with the 2nd Amendment. That alone should be enough to bring out every Republican, Conservative, Independent and even some Democrats that are firearms owners to swing vote away from the DNC. That is also a good point by several that have mentioned we need to also make sure we cast votes that will help us remain in control of the House and Senate. This is the election that is more about our childrens futures than ours. All I can ask is what kind of future do you want for your children and grandchildren?................jmho1 point
