Toward the end of the Sunday service, the Minister asked, "How many of you have forgiven your enemies?" 80% held up their hands. The Minister then repeated his question. All responded this time, except one man, Walter Barnes. "Mr. Barnes, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?" "I don't have any," he replied gruffly. "Mr. Barnes, that is very unusual. How old are you?" "Ninety-eight," he replied. The congregation stood up and clapped their hands. "Oh, Mr. Barnes, would you please come down in front and tell us all how a person can live ninety-eight years and not have an enemy in the world?" The old man tottered down the aisle, stopped in front of the pulpit, turned around, faced the congregation, and said simply, "I outlived all them a$$holes." Then he calmly returned to his seat.7 points

After reading the article it looks like the purpose is a refresh on the approach to firearms forensics, not a 'database'. Sort of like when the ability to test for DNA in blood started being used of the simple type of blood. Have to remember, any time someone gets a government grant, they are going to be successful and create the findings that keep that money coming in. Global warming/global cooling/climate change/climate disruption is a perfect example. If the .gov cut off research grants, that whole mess would disappear.3 points

My opinion of the .22 as a self defense weapon is this: If I shoot you 4 or 5 times in the face with a .22 and you still want more, I done shot the wrong guy...3 points

I expect many of them have seen it and probably wish it didn't exist because it puts their beliefs in a very bad light. I have noticed above all other things the people screaming the loudest about gun control are the ones that are surrounded by men and women packing guns to protect them so they don't have to worry about protection. You can bet if they didn't have the protection they do they would all be packing a gun and not be screaming that we as Americans should not have guns. If all of the men/women setting in plush comfy offices that own all these places they have made into killing fields had to work in them they would not be gun free zones. They don't mind risking the lives of the people making $7.50 an hour in a pizza store or working on the floor waiting tables for customers in a resturant, Working in a factory where some disgruntled employee gets fired and goes home and gets gun and comes back to take his rage out on employees that never did a thing to that person. Movie Theater Company owners don't care about charging $12.50 to $15.00 to go into one of their businesses to enjoy a movie but do care that you can protect yourself while in there so they don't allow you to be armed even though you have a legal permit that says you can carry a firearm. Or Students in a school or college where some board of directors does not set foot in desides that the students and teachers are expendible. As long as these Gun Free Zones (Killing Fields) exist and remain soft targets this will be an issue!..............jmho2 points

That is my concern more than any other of this entire election is the Supreme Court. It can destroy our Constitution and alter Americans total way of life begining with the 2nd Amendment. That alone should be enough to bring out every Republican, Conservative, Independent and even some Democrats that are firearms owners to swing vote away from the DNC. That is also a good point by several that have mentioned we need to also make sure we cast votes that will help us remain in control of the House and Senate. This is the election that is more about our childrens futures than ours. All I can ask is what kind of future do you want for your children and grandchildren?................jmho2 points

I have seen inserts (lead and stainless steel) that will drop into a drilled hole in the concrete (similar to drywall inserts for screws). Then you would run a bolt down through the safe and into the inset. The ones I have seen expand when the bolt goes in. I think I would also consider epoxing the inserts in the concrete to help hold them in place so you can remove and reinstall the bolts.2 points

It should be legal, and even accepted, to kick the gutter guy in the crotch each time one passes by him. ......and whoever rented him a table.2 points

I'm learning just how good these things are at keeping ice from melting. It's making me want to drink more water, which is a good thing. Maybe next order we look at adding the bottles as an option as well? I'd love to have something like this I can throw in my bag without worrying about leaking.1 point

I haven't seen the Tetra for sale locally, will keep my eyes open, thanks for the recommendation. I've got some old fashion Riggs gun grease on hand. Btw, love your avatar When I see it, I simply substitute your screen name for Fred Garvin then mentally complete the line...cracks me up every time.1 point

No joke at all. I keep my 30oz loaded with ice-water around the clock. I take it with me to work and top it off there throughout the day. At night it's on the night table beside my bed. In the morning there's always still ice inside it! These things are pretty awesome.1 point

Personally, I prefer these - http://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-1-2-in-x-2-in-Drop-In-Anchor-50-per-Pack-DIA50/205299212 If properly installed, they sit slightly below the floor so there is nothing to trip over or step on. I usually use a little masonry epoxy when I install them, but it isn't necessary. This gives you a little more flexibility. If you wanted to add risers, like mentioned above, you just use a longer bolt.1 point

My cousin carries an LCR in .38 special and does pretty well with it. She has arthritis and can't rack the slide on just about anything but her SR 22. Recoil is only a problem after firing several shots. The LCR in .327 should be less recoil especially with low recoil ammo and carries 6 shots instead of 5.1 point

I really like this idea, and was thinking about that myself just the other day. I paid for the Lifetime Benefactor because of the value TGO brings to me. I know there are a lot of benefactors here that feel the same way. I also know the non-benefactors are getting one helluva bargain. I would like to see a donate a $1.00 (or whatever) option in the store, and then have a drive on TGO to get every single person to contribute.1 point

My SCSW says a model 30 with a 4” barrel weighs 18 oz. A Ruger LCR in .327 with a 1.87” barrel weighs 17 oz., so I think they are about the same size. Like a .357 giving you more ammo choices over a .38; the .327 gives you more ammo choices over a .32. The Ruger is $500 new. The SP101 is available in .327, but right now they only list the 4”. It weighs 29.5oz, so when/if they offer the 2.25 it should be around 26oz. It should be around $600 new.1 point

Well if you want to stay with the 9mm you could always get a 9mm revolver. Ruger has the LCR, Taurus has the 905, and Charter Arms has the Pitbull and that's just off the top of my head.1 point

You might want to keep in mind a revolver chambered in the new .327 Federal can also shoot .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, and .32 H&R Magnum.1 point

I've taught several women to shoot and everyone of them liked the size and weight of a J-frame .38 UNTIL they shot it. Not one of them wanted anything to do with a J-frame .38 after that. When my late wife's arthritis got to the point where she could no longer handle the recoil of her Detective Special, she found a nice 2" S&W Model 30 in .32 S&W Long and fell in love with it. This J-frame is small and easy to carry while the .32 long has very little recoil and is much better than a .22. Loaded with the Mag-Tech hollow points, this make an acceptable self defense gun.1 point

The problem is that too many shooters expect non-shooters to step up to the plate with no anxiety, no fear of recoil, and complete confidence to skillfully manipulate, properly grip and fire a handgun. This only develops fear, flinching and bad habits. Plenty of people have successfully defended and killed with a .22; both legally and illegally. Is that my choice of defensive caliber.....no, but neither is a handgun. Simply saying that because of the above, or weakness of grip and hands sometimes it is better to be able to confidently handle a .22 and become very proficient and confident, then step up to any other weapon of THEIR choice.1 point

Only got to shoot her today. She shoots really nice. I haven't shot an AK before, so I can't make a comparison. But to me, it shoots really smooth. Barely any recoil (Having started on, and still shooting shotgun, perhaps my perception of recoil differs). Not much muzzle climb either, probably due to the muzzle brake I added. With iron sights and fogged up safety glasses (no fan indoors at OnTarget today, it was brutally hot), 3" group standing, 2" group supported (not rested) a 25 yards. I think I can do better than that. This was a quick function check. (Did I mention it was hot? lol). The v 58 is small. While I like the traditional look, I may replace the furniture with an adapter for a Zhukov folding stock and better hand guards. Alternatively, someone does make wood furniture for it, which is larger than the original. I'm liking that gun though, glad I bought it. Sorry to hijack the AK threat. I hope you guys will tolerate its cousin. Also, sorry for the crappy pics.1 point

I've got both a 2" and 3" SP101. 90% of the time, I'm shooting .38/.38+p Great for carry, plinking and home defense. I do have upgraded grips, and had some work to make the action better. 25oz on the 2" if memory serves, so it's not a lightweight. Maybe look at an MK9? Mine replaced the SPs for carry and has similar shootability traits. I like mine a lot1 point

IMO the 38 special revolver is the worst gun for most shooters.....UNLESS....they have shot one, like it, and want one. I have 'rescued' several shooters over the past several years that were given a 38 revolver to qualify in their handgun carry class. Mistake. While small and convenient to carry, they are hard to hold quickly and comfortably. Terrible double-action trigger pull that is at least 10 times the weight of the gun (wonder why you can't hit anything?). And most are limited to 5 shots. So I would look at the Kahr, Shield, LCP, 320 Compact, or even some of the Glocks.1 point

We couldn't touch it, but we were no more than 10 feet from it. Definitely one of the best field trips I ever had. Thinking back on it, growing up as a military kid had it's down sides, but it had some pretty amazing things too. Flying in a KC-135 to watch refueling operations, up close and personal with the Habu, touring the USS Wasp, flying an actual F-15 simulator, and getting a personal tour (just me and my dad) by the XO and the Chief of a nuclear attack submarine are pretty awesome experiences. Few people ever get to do any of those things, much less all of them.1 point

Me too. I remember what felt like every building on the whole base shaking and you knew it was the SR taking off so you stopped what you were doing and ran outside to watch. We had an F-15 pilot who lived next door and even he'd come out in his yard to watch it. Night launches were especially memorable watching the afterburners slowly go from 2 dots to 1 then to none, but you could still hear it even after you couldn't see it. A 2nd or 3rd grade field trip was over to the hangar to get up close and personal with it, the pilots, and their gear. Got to put on one of their "space helmets" and eat peaches out of a tube. I remember big pans on the floor of the hangar (like sheet cake pans, but bigger) to catch fuel that dripped out of the expansion joints. Once it got up to speed, the skin got hot enough to expand and stop dripping.1 point

I also have a Marbles 701SB Camp Axe that I forgot to add to the pic. Both are roughly the same price, but I think the Husqvarna is a much better hatchet for the money. In fact, it's not even a contest in my mind. The handle on the Marbles is far inferior, the balance sucks, and I'm virtually certain the steel is lower quality than on the Husqvarna. I am a huge fan of the Wetterlings and Gransfors hatchets, but for the money I just don't think you can beat that Husqvarna. If I had to get rid of my hatchets and could only keep one, I think it would be the Wetterlings. It's large enough for more heavy chopping, but not so large that it becomes burdensome to carry.1 point

To end the automated calls do this. Find a recording, like on Youtube, of the first few seconds of the disconnected line tone. Record that as your greeting followed by your message. To a person it is some sort of glitch and they won't think anything of it but an automated dialer will hear it and list your number as disconnected. I used to get horrible telemarketer calls on my cell phone. I actually got a call while I was telling another to quit calling. After recording the disconnected tone and letting all calls go to my voice message all the calls pretty much stopped. I still have to let my phone go to my voice message a few days a year but it is way better than before.1 point

This is what I have used on numerous guns including many Saiga's. http://www.cncwarrior.com/AK-47-14x1LH-Barrel-Threading-Kit-p/25145.htm Some Saiga's are already threaded under the hood. Just be careful not to cut too deep when removing the hood. Just take a Dremel with a cut off wheel and cut down into the hood right up against the fsb and it usually comes off pretty easy. Usually they are just tack welded in one or two spots. The paint makes it look like one piece. Also, some fsb are already drilled for the FH retaining pin. Take a punch and tap in the area it should be and usually the plug weld will start breaking loose under the paint. If not, it's not hard to drill the holes.1 point

Hey even the girl next door gets lovin! Difference is, she doesn't need it or demand it. I've got plenty of AR's as well, but the AK just feels like it has a soul. [emoji4]1 point

Wow, that's a bunch of ..... AR propaganda.[emoji6] AR's are like trophy wives. The best they look is when they aren't yours. Expensive to maintain. Require immediate and constant upgrades and accessories. Need constant attention (maintenance) or they get whiny. The older they get the worse they look. AK's are the girl next door. They get better looking with age, don't complain, and always get the job done. Here's my go to! Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk1 point
