  1. The IRS doesn't call people, they send certified letters.

  2. The way I understand what you signed is, you agreed to work for them in the maintenance position for 3 years in return for training you and giving you a valuable skill set. It doesn't look legally binding, but may be and probably is. But even moreso IMO, the right thing is to fulfill your side of the agreement, then go looking for employment elsewhere. Them terminating employment is one thing, but you terminating it is another. Just my personal opinion.

  4. I disagree with most here on the surface that say "you signed it, you have to live with it". I need to know, why do you want to leave? Are working conditions not favorable? People sign stuff all the time that realize were mistakes later. This should have been laid out in the document; "if you leave before the three years then you will pay X dollars or whatever". If its a bad situation for you and your family and the document doesn't bind you, then you should do what's best for you. If you are leaving for petty reasons or spite, then I agree that you should stay and fulfill your commitment. We need more info

  6. HMMMM.......wonder what an "accidental" drive by mace canister discharge (bear strength) would do to clear that unlawful roadblock? Just speculating.......why are the police allowing the blocking of traffic and commerce?

  7. I don't even answer the damn phone anymore.
    3 points
  8. Of course it's a scam. What they were really after is the only question. I don't even answer the phone anymore unless it's a number in my contact list, or I'm expecting a call from that area code. If someone has something important to tell me, they can leave a voicemail. Once in a blue moon I get a voicemail, but it's always a recording asking for a callback and I'll only follow-up with a real person.

  9. Be a man...keep your word, fulfill your contract then look elsewhere for a better job with the benefit of a clean conscience.....being fired is another story but as far as you are concerned (in my opinion) do what you agreed to do.

  10. Got a phone call this morning, and my answering machine picked it up before I got to the phone. Instead of letting it record, I picked it up to answer, so I don't have a recording of the call. What I heard was an automated message telling me to call this number, 1-669-235-4469, immediately or I would be called before a Federal Magistrate to answer for violations that I'd ignored. This is your second and last call, it said. Puzzled, I called the number. A voice, sounding somewhat middle eastern to me, answered and identified itself as Officer unintelligible name of the IRS. I asked again who was speaking and got the same garbled result. I asked again who this was and what it was all about. The voice asked for my name and telephone number. I said if you're the IRS, you should know that. To which the voice replied giving me the number I had called in on, but no further information. I asked again for identification of the person and the reason for the call. Again some barely intelligible voice saying I was in violation of Federal laws and would be arrested if I didn't comply. I asked what laws and what I had done, again asking for clarification. Got no answer, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. Then I was asked if I was John England. When I said no and didn't give my name, the call ended with a click. Beginnings of a scam? That's my thoughts. A search for the number revealed the information that backs up my thoughts on this. Still kind of freaked me getting a call like that. Thought my past might have been calling.

  11. Seems like the Knoxville and Knox County LEO's are scared of them and the biased news reporting. Letting them hinder law abiding citizens from going about their day. I'm sure if one of those law abiding citizens accidentally ran over one of the unlawful assembled Neanderthals that was impeding their progress, and damaging their property by beating on it. They would go directly to jail, not pass go and not collect $200. When I say "Neanderthals" it's not a white or black thing. There were both races there. I don't care what the color of your skin is, you act like a man and I'll treat you like a man. You act like a ??? then expect to be treated that way. I've worked too hard for my stuff for some assclown to be beating on it because something happened to some other assclown that wouldn't do as they were told https://www.youtube.com/embed/0SOGoiZflYc?list=PLnXpmWXYNka9OF-cuJrrF_wwnrY1EZ7dK

  14. Looks to me like you have to stay in a maintenance position instead of being able to transfer to a different job title within the company. You do what's best for you, the company does what's best for them. The CEO isn't going to cry himself to sleep when he lays off 1000 people to make sure he gets his bonus.

  15. I don't know, it seems it's pretty cut and dry to me. If you decide to leave without fulfilling your obligation, I'd be prepared to reimburse them for the time and training that went into the apprenticeship program. While they may let you go without a hassle, you may not want to use them as a reference, which will be difficult since you seem to need to include the apprenticeship program on your resume. And if they decide to collect on the debt, I'm sure they can afford the legal bills more than you can, even if they don't win.

  16. Just finished the entire survivor series by A. American. Just getting into reading and never been a big reader, but I finished the 7 book series in about a month and couldn't put them down. They were recommended by a friend and I have now passed them on to others as well. Really good IMHO and seems very realistic in today's world. Thanks for all the recommendations everyone, look forward to reading them.

  17. I have owned the 42 for about 2 months now. I have run probably 150-200 rounds through it without a hiccup. I have shot everything from white box to Federal HST (my carry round) without problems. I also installed the extra round/pinky extension on both mags and still no issues. The rounded edges made it the perfect "pocket gun" for summer/workout clothes (I use a Boraii Eagle pocket holster for this purpose) which is one of the key selling points for me. As far as I am concerned the 42 is G2G.

  20. Two weeks ago we were down there and I wore this shirt. Stopped at Lowes on 11E near BMS. It was funny how many people said they like the shirt then had a puzzled look when they heard my accent when I said "Thank you."

  25. To me, with them preventing someone from going about their way is KIDNAPPING The crime of unlawfully seizing and carrying away a person by force or Fraud, or seizing and detaining a person against his or her will with an intent to carry that person away at a later time. The law of kidnapping is difficult to define with precision because it varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Most state and federal kidnapping statutes define the term kidnapping vaguely, and courts fill in the details. Generally, kidnapping occurs when a person, without lawful authority, physically asports (i.e., moves) another person without that other person's consent, with the intent to use the abduction in connection with some other nefarious objective. Under the Model Penal Code (a set of exemplary criminal rules fashioned by the American Law Institute), kidnapping occurs when any person is unlawfully and non-consensually asported and held for certain purposes. These purposes include gaining a ransom or reward; facilitating the commission of a felony or a flight after the commission of a felony; terrorizing or inflicting bodily injury on the victim or a third person; and interfering with a governmental or political function (Model Penal Code § 212.1).

  26. If you aren't married to leather, IMHO you can't beat Wilderness. Tough as nails, infinitely adjustable, just stiff enough to anchor the gun without being uncomfortable. And a big honkin' steel buckle you could cave a skull in with if you can't carry the gun. It's the most dangerous thing I've found that I can get on a commercial flight with.

  27. This one is getting closer and closer! Everyone owns a shotgun, but how many have actually learned to efficiently and effectively use it for defense? How many shotgun myths do you believe? "You just have to rack it and they'll run off" or "you don't really have to aim just point it and pull the trigger" or "Birdshot is just as good as buckshot".....you will see why all of these cliches are just simply wrong. We cover everything from loading, unloading and clearing malfunctions to transitioning to handgun to shooting on the move to transitioning to slugs for distant targets and a whole lot more. Just owning a shotgun does not make you any more prepared to use it than owning a guitar makes you a skilled musician. Come on out and get the skills to run the shotgun under stress and defend your self, your home or your business with the most powerful weapon available to civilians!

  28. Big boy rules and all...if you stay, you can have the time and experience to fill your resume, hopefully getting a good reference when the time comes. If you go, you may have to pay them back, you can probably forget the reference, and you'll need to be ready for the question of why you left that position in your next job interview. Like most things in life, this is a cost benefit analysis where only you can determine the variables.

  30. That contract may not be legal. Were you paid as an apprentice? Have you added value to their organization during that time? Laws have changed, concerning apprenticeships. I think you should consult with the Department of Commerce and Insurance and or an attorney.

  32. I'm playing. It encouraged me to do an extra mile and a half on my bike last night to get to another Poke-stop. I set a new personal best longest ride with Runkeeper and wouldn't have done it if I hadn't seen the Poke-stop off in the distance on my map. The Bellevue Greenway has a Poke-stop at every entrance and two Poke-gyms along the way. I can see it encouraging area kids to beg their parents to take them to the greenway and walk/bike to each stop. There are worse things. I think it's kind of fun for now. We'll see how long it lasts. I just started Sarturday and hit Level 5 last night.....now will I be Mystic, Valor, or Instinct?

  39. btq96r said it pretty well. In the end it depends on how your eyesight works (some folks don't see the EOtech reticle well... particularly those with astigmatism), but for me the EOTech is faster than ANYTHING inside of 50 yards. But the Micro is still really really fast, and I never have to turn it on. Out past 50 and beyond, there's not much difference between them.
