  2. Now for a little bit of a reality check to the rampant fear mongering hopefully from a source some of y'all will accept. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2016/07/14/national-day-of-rage-plotted-for-july-15-use-this-as-a-list-of-places-not-to-be/ It's a hoax by Anonymous. Don't let your prejudices put you on edge and cause you to make the news. Mmmkay?

  4. The news needs to change the headline from "Nice Truck Attack" to something else . Not everyone will realize how that's pronounced.

  5. That is funny for sure,,,,,,,,,, Reminds me of a couple guys that I ran into one time down and the Narrows of the Harpeth River back many years ago. They would not believe me when I told them that they could float a day float with one vehicle. Most folks float from bridge to bridge and need to use 2 vehicles. If you launch just above the Narrows and tie your boat off and drive over the hill and park at the lower end of the Narrows you can use 1 vehicle. You get about a 10 mile river float yet it is only about 3/4 mile by road. They said that I didn't know what I was talking about but I had made that float a 100 times at night catching catfish on the sholls. The river does not go in a circle but is does wind around so many bends that it is about 10 miles of river to go 3/4 mile by road.............lol

  8. We've been "organic farming" for years. The general indictment of organic farming you posted is no different than the bull#### organic disciples attribute to conventional farming. I don't mean to be an ass or insult anyone but the extremes of any farming method are pretty lousy. There's a way to do both that's realistic. Sorry for the rant.

  10. I'm new to this forum because I just moved to Tennessee. I have posted on other forums with the same username. I have a place to practice and now I need to find places to complete. I have a warm fuzzy for the TN gun laws and I cannot wait to read more of them. I know it is kind of geeky.

  12. It will be hard for us to ever know the truth in any great detail, but hopefully it will come out in time. I am frustrated with the weak attempts to make this about anything but terrorism. I won't argue reasons that terrorists do this stuff. It's waste time. What really bothers me is that unless a coherent plan to go after or interdict these groups can be executed and quickly that it will continue to spread, ultimately to the USA.r. This may be isis or some other group but they need to learn that such attacks will net go under punished... we have our own problems here with BLM and more fringe groups. Civil protest is a right here, civil unrest is not. Our future will not be bright if we just tear ourselves apart... May all those injured recover quickly, and those that passed rest in peace.

  14. I recently acquired one of these in a trade. It had been on my Maybe I'll Pick One Up Someday list, and the right opportunity came along. I took it to the range a couple days ago and I put about 120 rounds through it (124gr hard cast reloads). Ergos / handling: It shoots and handles better than it looks. The squared-off rear of the frame which I initially had concerns about ended up being no issue whatsoever. The gun in 9mm simply doesn't recoil enough for this to even begin to be a problem. The backstrap / grip inserts slide on and off after being unlocked with a 1/4 turn of a recessed Torx cam. It looks like the cam moves outward to lock the insert into place, and inward to allow removal. There were a couple of sharp corners on the inside of the lanyard slot which dug into my hand, but a couple of quick strokes with a file fixed that. It wasn't an issue on any but the smallest grip insert for some reason. I don't much care for the exaggerated palm hump on the large and medium backstraps so I left the small one installed. The ambi magazine button was actually quicker to hit with my thumb with the small backstrap installed. With the large backstrap, it's harder for thumb reach and easier for trigger finger activation. The grasping serrations on the slide rear were very well designed. The crosscut serrations provide a superlative grip. The takedown lever has a bit of a protruding shelf that makes a handy place to rest your support thumb. Unfortunately it prevents it from fitting into holsters for other brands that would actually be a pretty good fit otherwise. Trigger reach is easy and comfortable for me. There are no sharp edges or other unpleasantness on the trigger shoe like there can be on other designs (XD, Glock). Shooting: It ran through all my reloads with no feeding problems. I was doing offhand shooting at a 2" dot at about 20 yards and I was able to keep all the shots either on the dot or within an inch of it, so accuracy was certainly adequate for my purposes. Brass ejection was a bit erratic but thankfully none came near my face. The sights were regulated such that the front sight dot represented your point of impact. I usually prefer my POI to be the top of the sight blade, but whatever. Sight picture was good enough that I will probably leave the factory sights on. The trigger pull was similar to the XD pistols. The pull itself was not heavy enough to complain about, probably 5 pounds or a little less. There was a fair amount of creep but it was smooth and consistent. The reset point was about 2/3 of the trigger forward travel, which is a little longer than most people like but not a real problem. The reset was distinct and clear. About all I would want is a little less creep and a little shorter reset if I were going to be doing a lot of shooting. Muzzle flip was negligible, despite the rather slick grip. The mags easily dropped free and locked in consistently. Mags were not difficult to load to full 17 rd capacity. TL;DR: It performed well and I liked it more than I expected to.

  22. Rage, yeah because clearly that'll fix the problems. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about how best to address all the angst and turmoil in society. The world really needs a little more rage these days. Rage. Yep, that'll fix it.

  23. He didn't say South Side, he said south shore train unless you were just pointing out the worst area. I would bet that staying in downtown Chicago (loop/River North) is no more dangerous than staying in Downtown Nashville. How many here would stay in Bordeaux. Just sayin.

  26. Well..... My opinion on what I would do is simple enough. First I would determine exactly where the mag feed lips are to that hole while in battery. Take the follower out and pack the hole and surrounding area with a layer of play dough. With the mag in place, slowly push the bolt into lock up over oil wet mag lip. open the upper and remove the bolt. make a determination of how many thousandths of clay still covers the hole. Do about a 2.5 second mig weld burn over the hole and cut the weld to an appropriate thickness skin to cover the hole and then rebore that area of the FP hole to only clean out any interior weld. To keep the heat treat distortion to a small area around the hole, a cold wet towel wrap should be used around the bolt. With it being a 9mm, a small weld dot in that part of the bolt would be insignificant to the functional reliability of the bolt.

  27. lol they're going to protest at the federal courthouse? Not the brightest people in the city. I hope they start marching about 500 feet down broadway where they will run into a crowd of 20,000 drunk rednecks.

  28. I have a friend with a grizzly 14x30 gear head lathe. He's pretty happy with it, but it doesn't compare to his old Bradford, or my Colchester of similar size. The older machines are MUCH heavier and in any machine tool mass is your friend. Buy the biggest machine you can possibly fit. The same goes with mills too, but with a mill get a knee mill not just a mill/drill. Being able to move the table in the Z axis (up & down) opens up lots of capabilities. WhIle a new machine has its appeal, there are many great old machines out there to be had. I'm looking at a larger Leblond for $2500 including a bunch of tooling, 4 chucks, & taper attachment. As far as imports go grizzly is one of the better ones and they have pretty good support, but if possible think about a bigger machine...

  30. You're right, it has nothing to do with the shooter. But the fact that they openly say they support a racist organization that is primarily anti-police (and I may add, that Putin even put on a terrorist list) after 5 police officers were murdered while on duty protecting BLM is enough to draw a conclusion on where they stand. It's not court, we don't need forensically verified video and audio recordings of the meeting that created/allowed that post to be made to form a reasonable opinion.

  31. Chicago is a great city for a visit. Awesome food, nice sights, and good walking once you get to the general area you want to be in. I look forward to visiting again someday since I haven't been since Uber became a thing. Will make getting around much easier/cheaper than the taxi racket. As to the danger...just avoid the trouble spots on this map that covers 2016 to date and you'll be fine.

  33. That's unfortunate really. It's one thing to not like it having at least been there. I am guessing you wouldn't go to any major city and that's ok, but you miss out on a lot. It has some of the greatest architecture in the US. To each his own, but I hope others don't judge it by only what they hear.

  36. I would leave my gun as well. Yes, Chicago is a liberal cesspool, but unless you are going in areas that most of us would never go, you are not going to have an issue. Where exactly are you going to be? If you are downtown, you will be fine. Just use common sense like in any big city and be aware of your surroundings. Chicago is a great city to with a lot to offer. Some of the best museums in the world and a great aquarium. Hell, there are shootings every day in Nashville now, but I suspect not where most of us are going.

  37. Hah! The guy to the right of Simon McCullough ( 3rd from the left, back row) is Jamie McCormack. He's Royal Engineers, I think 18 years in & the sergeant on the front row is his Dad, who served with the Engineers in Northern Ireland & The Falklands (plus lots more I don't know of/can't remember) And the caption is wrong. W weren't air cadets, we were Cadets of the Prince of Wales own Regiment of Yorkshire, the same regiment I went on to serve with, however briefly. The little shady looking guy, second from the right, back row: I forget his name. It was David Verner.....he's now a multi-millionaire graphic artist & the kid 3rd from the left in the front row is Rob Holmes. Doing life for double murder. I had some......interesting......friends as a kid! Sorry for all the edits, memory's a funny thing! Sent from a mountain top, via telepathy.

  38. Just received a MONSTER kick in the head! Mum just emailed me this pic..... That's little me in the back left corner. The guy to my right was one of my best friends,Simonn McCullough. He joined the Paras in '92 & spent a year in Northern Ireland. He was killed by an IRA booby trap whilst pulling a republican flag from the side of a protestant school wall in '94. The young kid one to the right of centre, back row is Adam Hope. He was recently promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major after 19 years service with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He made all the papers as being one of the last 2 British soldiers to be removed from Iraq. He & a company corporal were volunteering in a civvy hospital when the orders came through & basically told the Army to pound sand. They weren't leaving until ALL the civilians in the hospital had been evacuated to safety. They got a severe reprimand & a Military Cross for Gallantry for that. This is them now (right & left. Don't know the guy in the middle)

  44. I went the same way when looking for a more concealable pistol. Couldn't decide if the 43 was worth the extra money. Ended up finding a nice deal on the shield at $329.99 and hopped right on it. It has become my favorite carry gun, but I still wonder what the 43 is like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
